One Monday afternoon I was on my way to have me some good BBQ at Virgie's. But alas! The place was closed. Apparently Virgie's doesn't open on Mondays. No worries, on the way there, I passed Burger Tex. Now having been to a different Burger Tex location off of N. Eldridge and FM 529 and trying their Bulgogi burger, I thought that maybe it's time for me to try out their regular burger. So I turned around and went to Burger Tex. This place is a lot brighter than the other location. However, the menu's pretty much the same. I learned from the nice guy that was working here that the location off of N. Eldrige is run by his aunts/uncles. Pretty much a family-run business. However, there's another Burger Tex nearby located off of Brittmoore and he said that location was bought out and is not run by the family anymore. I proceeded to order combo #2 (6oz bacon burger) with cheese. To my surprise, the burger was actually really good. You can see the guy cooking the meat and pouring some kind of seasoning all over both sides of the meat. This time around, the homemade bun tasted a lot better than it was at the other location. Unfortunately the fries still tasted like frozen crinkle fries. Maybe they need to pour whatever seasoning they put on the meat on the fries when they fry it. Just like the other location, you have your condiments bar. You have lettuce, tomatoes, onion, mayo, mustard, ketchup, pico de gallo, and jalapenos. I totally forgot to ask if they would have grilled some onions for me because I would have rather had my onion grilled and caramelized with my bacon cheeseburger. Same comment at this place with the other location. I'd be strictly for their burger, but I don't think I'd be ordering their fries or drink. The burger alone filled me up really good.

Mexican burger with bacon & guac....delicious!

I was surprised to see a lukewarm rating. Although definitely a "hole-in-the-wall", these guys keep a clean restaurant and serve tasty food. The value is great for what you pay, and the food came out very fast!

Tasty, cheap and juicy burgers! You order at the counter and pick it up in 10 or so minutes. I got the small cheeseburger meal. There's a salad bar with lettuce, tomatoes, etc to dress your burger how you want. Extra brownie points for the queso that I abundantly dribbled over my crinkle fries. Everything was super flavorful! My friend says it's a little salty but she still finishes the whole thing. There are a surprisingly a lot of other options. I got an order to-go for a grilled chicken sandwich for my brother and he said he enjoyed it. Koreans work here so I'm intrigued to try the bulgogi burger next time!

In the mood for Virgies BBQ but they were closed (Tuesday)..... across the street a sign says, "Best Burgers In Houston", well why not try a new place. I ordered the 8 oz burger with fries and a drink. It was ok but not quite in the best burger ballpark. You dress your own and the fixins' were fresh and the usual .... including pico and jalapenos. If you do choose to try this place, order one of the combos.... 6 oz burger, fries and a drink for less than $6, which is better than the just under $10 for my order. Will I return? ..... not likely.

This is usually not the type of place I would stop to check out, but i'd read that burger tex was great on some 'best burgers list', and thought this was the one i'd heard about. it was a bit disappointing. not bad, but just a normal fast-foody type hamburger. they do offer a bulgogi burger; pretty interesting, but i opted for the regular. not bad at all, but the food doesnt really garner a high number on any burger lists that i would write.

    Bulgogi burger

I frequent here often for lunch since my sister works down the street from the restaurant. We always order the bulgogi burger with fries. Service is fast. The food is good. It's a good in-and-out dining place. Nothing to complain about for this place. PS. Burger Tex is ranked 3rd among Top 40 burger joints in Austin I believe. :)

I would show you the burger but I ate it too fast...

Burger was juicy, hot and the secret recipe buns are amazing! I had the mushroom Swiss with fries and it was out fast and the service friendly. If you are a burger aficionado or just a hungry burger lover, try this place out. Still have to try the Korean Bulgogi dinner or burger. You will not be disappointed!

Pretty good burger and fries. Fast and easy. Like the vat of nacho cheese you can self serve on your fries.

Super popular burger spot in Houston - but is it worth the hype?…read more It is a build your own burger concept with fast service. Food comes out quickly and you are able to modify it however you want! There are coloring sheets for children and wifi. Lots of seating to eat (both indoor and outdoor). There is a soda fountain and water that is self serve. Definitely a place to hang out with friends/family and grab a quick bite to eat. loved the SWEET SOURDOUGH as the bun since it was slightly sweet and had a nice squishy like chew. The sourdough element really gives it that tug that I love in bread. the patties are thin, lacy, and smashed. Nicely salty and seasoned. for the sauce I would recommend the SCALLION AIOLI since it was warming and garlicy adding a really nice punch of flavor. the SWEET POTATO FRIES were a delicious side (crisp, piping hot, tasty). Overall I have not much to knock burgerchan on - besides their lack of lettuce wraps as an option haha but they do offer your burger on a bed of lettuce. they also have super fun unique milkshakes like vietnamese coffee, black sesame, etc (I'd try that next time). lots of sides and protein patty options in case you don't eat beef. they also have chicken, turkey, and falafel.

They had a good menu, with options for anyone's dietary needs. This is a 100% family centric business. I had read about their story on the website. Highly recommend you take a look. They bring in elements of this into their restaurant with theit kids names throughout the joint. Parking was easy enough, and it looks like they labeled the parking barriers with names of the family's kids. I ran into some of the owners as I waited for my order. They were decorating the back patio, and they have the kids up on the walls too. I walked in to make an order, And left 15 minutes later with everything I needed. I ordered the Montecito, a very tasty chicken sandwich. The chicken was moist, and well flavored. I also upgraded the fries. My friends also liked their orders, a different chicken sammich and a vegetarian burrito.
