    Dad's plate

A staple in San Antonio that I finally had the chance of trying out. Tonight it was very busy however we got a table for 8 people with a reasonable wait time around 30 minutes. Our waiter Jose was very friendly, professional and efficient. Food came out pretty quick and everything tasted amazing. I had the dad's plate which includes two cheese enchiladas, rice, beans and choice of carne guisada, skirt steak or fajitas. Again, had a great experience and big shout out to Jose for his patience and professionalism.

Excellent food and service. I dined here during lent on a Friday, and they offered a few plates of non-meat dishes. Normally I get their puffy tacos, but because of fasting, I couldn't. They had fish tacos and cheese enchiladas made with a non-meat sauce. Perfect!

    Cheese enchiladas with charro beans

Food, service, & atmosphere were great. The free chips & salsa were light, crispy & flavorful. The cheese enchilada plate was delicious & some of the best charro beans I've had in a long time.

    Chalupa with store bought tostada.

Eh. It's edible. I would not recommend this for Mexican food in San Antonio. Rice and beans were bland. I had a Mexican plate which was enchiladas, puffy taco, and a chalupa. Chalupa was on a tostada shell like Taco Bell. Puffy taco was just ok. Meat had a decent flavor. Tortilla had some flavor but not the light, crispy texture you want in a puffy taco. This was more like a Gordita. Enchiladas looked good but also lacked flavor. The entire meal was bland. Service was prompt and servers were pleasant but the food was disappointing.

The tortilla soup was savory and light; the chicken flauta was the perfect snack (wish it had something to dip into), the taco was a solid blend of all things that make a happy taco (including guac). Great service, the food came out quickly, and the ambiance lends itself to conversation with friends! This is a San Antonio staple and I know why!

    Saltillo Plate

Service was wonderful. Our server was hustling and turning drinks and food between all his tables so quickly. Started with the quesabirrias. I've never had barria before and I'm glad I tried it here first. Had such a warm and wonderful flavor to it. The broth it came with was also good, gave it some extra flavor. I went with the Saltillo plays. One enchilada and one puffy taco. The beans at . One time my mother in law made beans from scratch and I thought those were good, these were so much better. Enchiladas were the star on the show though. Red corn tortillas were wrapped around melted cheese and topped with chile con carne. YUM!!!! The SA local that recommended this place did not steer us wrong

Tortilla soup, taco, flauta all chicken for the special.

We order from here many times. I love the combo of soup, crispy taco, and chicken flauta which comes with chips for the soup along with a serving of lettuce, tomato and guacamole. For only 13.74 when ordered on (door dash). The sopaipilla were delicious and hot we ordered 3 and found out it comes in the size of pizza boxes so we had a huge serving. Nurses in the nurses station with sweets are happy nurses!!!

Unsure why this place is so highly rated. Maybe it's an SA staple? Idk. The pros first. Place is nice inside, clean. They have tumblers you can purchase which comes with refills for drinks at a lower price. Cons. I was not impressed with the pork carnitas. More than half were all just fat with no meat. They did try and make it right though so they get props for that. Didn't help though as what was brought out was just as fatty. BUT, while I waited for a new batch of the carnitas the rest of the food got cold. The street tacos got no complaints. I did not taste them. I maybe would try it again one more time but definitely not get anything with pork.

    Netta K.

Upon local recommendation, we cruised over to Nicha's. The service was super fast (we were on a time crunch) and the salsa and queso were worth the trek! Homemade tortillas, yes, please!! I shared the street tacos, they serve 5 but once you take all the fat out you have enough for four. I like my meat sautéed this looked a bit boiled (but don't quote me on that). Needless to say, I won't get those again but would come back for the salsa!!

When he asked about barracho beans, Anthony brought them right away. The ice tea was strong and tasty and he kept our glasses filled. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The building is new. It's very open with high ceilings, lots of windows and cement floors. There was plenty of outdoor seating. There were only a few parking spaces by the entrance. There was free parking on nearby side streets or paid parking in lots behind the restaurant. We would definitely go back when in San Antonio again. The drink menu looked fun! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special. The atmosphere is beautiful, upscale, and inviting. The architecture and design throughout the restaurant are absolutely stunning. Even the restrooms were impressive and reflected the same attention to detail found throughout the entire establishment. The food was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. This isn't your typical restaurant experience--the menu is creative, unique, and offers something different. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the preparation and presentation of every plate. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the customer service. My waitress, Kreizon, was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made me feel welcome throughout my visit. Great service can make a good meal even better, and she definitely elevated the entire experience. Electronic dance music pulsed quietly in the background. The toilets were all individual unisex stalls that were classy, mine had run out of hand towels. Also, the entire restaurant is very dimly lit. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu, but I have poor eyesight so there's that, but it might explain the quality of the photos I took. The Paloma drink was amazing. It had a great spicy zing in the back of the throat after every sip. Queso was... kinda plain. It might have been better with the add chorizo option. It was very thick. Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

We sat on the back patio for dinner on a day when it was 100 degrees out and there were fans all over to help keep the air flowing, which helped immensely. Their salsa tray is nice too, they have 4 to select from and you get three in this appetizer, but we ordered the 4th as well and all were pretty nicely done. The verde was amazing and the roasted tomato was great, just not spicy at all. I tried their combo fajitas and was thankful they came out being simply plated, rather than on the blazing hot, sizzling skillet - I don't need the show, just the good eats. The meats were decent, the beans were amazing. The tortillas were just ok, as I felt like they were way too thick. They offered corn tortillas too, but I'm in Texas, so you get flour, not corn. Save room for dessert, they have amazing churros! Overall, this was a decent visit. Service was nice too. I'd recommend stopping in.

We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing.
