I have mixed feelings about my experience here. I came because my SIL got me a gift card and BW is a spa I've been meaning to check out. The facilities are very nice, they have many amenities and the staff are very on top of keeping everything clean. I came an hour early to use the spa and had a pleasant experience with the hot tub and sauna. I was relaxed and felt ready to enjoy my massage. Once my massage started is when things started going downhill. My masseuse Joanna was great, she listened and did what she could to keep me comfortable. However, I realized a few minutes into my massage that the AC vent was whistling and rattling so loudly that I could barely even hear the spa music. I asked my masseuse if that was normal and she said that if she opened the vent then the room gets really cold. But the whistling and squeaking was definitely annoying enough to brave the cold. However, once she opened the vent, the air blasting out of it was just SO LOUD, it drowned out the little ambiance there was left from the music. The only way I can explain it is getting a massage right on a busy highway. I tried my best for at least 30-40 min (of my 80 min massage) to drown it out and relax but instead all I got was a massive headache and I was not remotely enjoying myself in the freezing room. I didn't want to keep complaining but it got to a point where I would rather walk out than remain in that room so I asked her if it was possible to shut the air off. She said she would have to ask the front desk, so she left the room and assured me she would keep my remaining time which was kind. She came back a few minutes later and the air shut off another few minutes after that. Unfortunately, while the massage itself was great, it was overshadowed by the awful noise and I was already in such an agitated and unrelaxed state that the remaining time (20-30 min) wasn't enough time to get me feeling the way I do after a massage. I thanked her for her time and I knew the situation was out of her control. After I showered and went to check out, I told a man named Phil, who seemed like the manager about my poor experience. He told me they had just installed a new AC on that side of the spa and that it's better than being in a hot room. And essentially shrugged my complaint off as if I should be grateful that I had AC. For $230 + tip, I definitely expected better customer service. I was so taken aback because there wasn't an apology or any sort of attempt to make it right. Instead, after failing to placate me, he tried to sell me their membership. Maybe it's because I was paying with a gift card? I've been to the Woodland Hills location a few times, so I was looking forward to trying this one. I'm glad I checked the records beforehand to prepare me for how small it is. Though it got really crowded on a Saturday afternoon, we were still able to find some space to do our thing. My sister really enjoyed her massage. She said it was so good that she fell asleep. I unfortunately didn't enjoy my massage at all. It felt rushed and wasn't relaxing at all. I did speak to the front desk and they gave me discount which I appreciated. I was told that you can stop a massage in the middle if you are not liking it. But being naked and having to get dressed then waiting for another masseuse just feels awkward. So I'm not sure if I would do that. The amenities are nice but small. In the locker area we were constantly in someone else's way. The dry sauna is very tight with comfortable space for maybe 4 people. The wet sauna had a little more space for maybe 6 people. The jacuzzi has space for maybe 10? There were 5 showers. So there was a moment when we had to wait for one. Anywho all in all it was a fine experience. The staff was super friendly, including my masseuse. So the experience was pleasant. But in the future I'd go to a larger spa, or go here at a less busy time of day or week. FYI there's a parking structure across the way where we parked. First time visiting Burke Williams Spa today and it was better than what I imagined. I didn't know what to expect as reviews vary. But I can say my group and I had an amazing experience. Our facials were scheduled for 11:30am we arrived around 9:30am and enjoyed all the spa amenities. During that time the cleaning crew were on top of it! Everything was clean and well stocked. Hampers and trash bins were constantly being emptied. The cleanliness was 10/10. The amenities were well maintained as well (sauna, jet spa, steam room). My esthetician was Carmen. I got an 80 min facial. She is wonderful! Would recommend and will be coming back to her! She was so informative about my skin type and problem areas and walked me through everything. I immediately saw and felt a difference! I bought most products she recommended and I'm so excited to continue my skin care journey because of her. My only complaint which really isn't much of a complaint but the locker room is kinda tight. Getting there early is good but getting ready to leave it was crammed and we had to rush through the area. This is my go to to be spoiled by my boyfriend or myself! A day at the spa is always a wonderful time and even better when the service is fantastic. As a long time customer, I will say I love that the construction is finally done, and it does look great, but I'm not much into pink. Super clean, relaxing and peaceful environment in the locker room area that provides a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and showers and then off to my services. If you are there to get a facial.. see WENDY! And be mindful she's almost always booked. The best esthetician ever. Knows what she's doing, takes her time and leaves my face glowing and beautiful. I'm sure the other estheticians are great, but I can say mine is the best Massages are fantastic, but I bounce around and try different hands so I can genuinely say they are all great. Burke Williams was to me the gem of Old Town Pasadena. Many people had no idea it is even there in the alley I have been going there for more years than I want to admit. I had not been in a few years and I enjoyed it but it was WAY too crowded..I Don't go on a Saturday. It is way too many people for their space. I usually like going close to closing on a weekday when there are hardly any people. The renovation of the interior is really a welcome change. The prices for these types of spas have gone wildly high but once in a while it is a great treat. I enjoyed my service and the people were hospitable without a doubt. Thank you read more

I love the Burke Williams Chain and have been a member for several years now. I have never had an issue with service or any miscommunication before. Everything goes smoothly and I usually have a pretty relaxing time. My favorite therapists are Chi and Olive. They know what they're doing. If it wasn't for them, I would've cancelled my membership long ago. It's hard to find someone that massages the way you need. I usually go to the Hollywood location (much bigger and closer to my work) but this location is closer to my home, so I do like to come here for weekends. It's much smaller, so it can get pretty crowded. However, it is always clean and well staffed. I feel relaxed and pampered. I do have a request, I've put this in many surveys as well - as a 4' 11" female, I wish there were designated lockers that you guys could prep with the smaller shoes and robes so I don't have to ask for it every time. read more

I have been a member at BW since January 2023. Prior to that, I would go yearly for a service. I have almost always been satisfied with the service and staff. If I come across any issues, I let the front desk know and they try their best to resolve the issue. I have had massages, facials, and nail treatment at BW. I always leave feeling so much more relaxed and it makes me want to keep coming back for more, hence my membership purchase. :) I believe the reason why some people have bad experiences is because of the day/time they go for their appointments. Just a little tip: try to go when it's not busy e.g. earliest appointments or late evening appointments. I avoid Saturdays, Sunday afternoons and Mondays. Sunday 9am or 10am are the best times to go. There is a parking lot close by, however, you can find free parking on Sundays a few blocks away. The location is also great. Old town is fun to peruse after a spa treatment. I don't usually write reviews but felt the need to write one for a massage I had received. I had a woman named Yolanda and the whole massage was uncomfortable from Beginning to end. She started asking out how the pressure was and when I said "oh you could go a bit harder" she tried to immediately upsell me to a deep Tissue. I have had lots of Swedish massages before and the pressure she was giving was more a caress. She continued asking 4 or 5 times about the pressure and I just said fine as she wasn't going to improve it. Then in the middle of the massage ( I was quietly Trying to zen out and rest ) she stopped massaging and said " I just have to mention that I think you're not enjoying your massage and you want to leave ". I was so thrown off. I was just trying to rest. I reassured her (which was odd in itself), and just waited For The massage to end. What would I say to that naked on the table ? I felt Very vulnerable and uncomfortable Besides that the massage was very weak and lots Of Over the cover Pressure (think a cat walking on you in bed ). I was actually brave and told the front staff how uncomfortable the massage was, and what she had said , and they gave me a spa pass card. It felt like the massage was worthless. Came here a few times after the remodel and I think it's safe to say that they're now officially opened for business. They are fully staffed (if not more than usual), available appointments for all type of services; everything about this place looks new and smells amorelly fresh. I've been coming here for facial and massage for a few years and I have to say that the quality of services has definitely gone up. I did my facial with PJ and she was exceptionally nice and friendly, knew exactly what my face was like and spent quite some time explaining what I can do to make my face less dry and look alive. I also did their massage, though for the 30 minutes slot. The longer time slots were taken and they were pushing for the 30-minute slot so I took it. For the same price, the time is just way too short. Massage was good but by the end, it felt way too rushed and incomplete. Hence the 4 stars. Overall, good clean place to relax. I had a gift card from Christmas and finally booked a reservation for an 80 minute facial in Feb 2022. Making an appointment online was easy and I received confirmation emails and a voicemail the day before reminding me of checking in and how to best prepare for the amenities. Check in was easy, there was hand sanitizer, plexiglass at the registration and I reviewed and signed an e-waiver on a tablet and staff checked my ID. I was shown the lounge area which had 2 large couches, a few seats and a bench seating area along with a small quiet room that was co-ed. fortunately I was able to enjoy the lounge to myself for a while but it quickly got crowded at the top of the hour and every available seat (with social distancing) was taken as people waited for their appointment. The tea was soooo yummy and there was lemonade and bananas as well. There were 2 locker rooms and you're given a key with the number of your locker. There's a robe and slippers to change into. I didn't use the amenities but there was a spa, sauna, cold plunge shower and areas to blow dry your hair etc. lots of towels, water jugs, more around. My facial was also good. Relaxing and effective. Focused on my congested areas like nose and chin, and we went through a bunch of questions and my skin care routine etc. I liked the foot massage, head neck and shoulder massage, and facial massage as well! My extractions weren't painful at all which was a bonus! Everyone here was very nice and professional. My only issue was with how crowded the lounge got as everyone waited for their appointments at the same time but once it was time, they called people quickly. read more

A little overdue for review. Came in to use a nice package I received. I hadn't been in since the remodel. The remodel is very nicely done. I was disappointed in the quality of each person that I had. the masseuse was very aggressive and talked nonstop. The mani-pedi was just ok. The manicurist did next to nothing on my nails, barely filed, and did no work on my cuticles. The pedicurist did a nice job. The facialist was nice but again it was nothing special and she felt like she was barely touching my face at times. The neck and shoulder massage after the facial was practically nonexistent. It's really sad how poorly this spa has performed over the years. You can see a major decline in how it is managed. I would still go to Burke Williams but just not this one in Pasadena. read more

I love Burke Williams, and one of my favorite treatments is the salt glo scrub in the wet room. This location recently went through a renovation and you can definitely tell. Stellar service as always but kind of subpar amenities, to be honest. I think that the amenities are decent but since you're paying extra each time to make use of them I would expect them to be more consistent. Last time I was here they ran out of towels (!!)...and tea...and cups! The tea I can go without lol but the towels?? And it wasn't just for a minute or two, it was the entire time I was there (over the course of an hour). Never did refill the towels, had to try to dry myself off with my robe -- oops. Of course I can only fault them one star because the rest of my time here was amazing. The spa is so lovely, and they do a great job of keeping those cooling towels stocked at least so you don't overheat which is so nice. I received a gift certificate for Burke Williams and decided to get a facial at the Pasadena location since it's so close to my home. The spa was tastefully decorated and very clean. I was greeted in a courteous manner and since it was my first visit, they have me a tour. While I waited in the lounge, I had the decaffeinated herbal vanilla & lavender tea. Omg! So delicious I plan on purchasing it for my own home. The spa was loaded with nice products for shampoos, moisturizers, sprays, hair driers, etc. Gaby (Gabriela) my skin therapist was extremely polite and kind. It was an amazing spa facial! She explained every step of the process but did not overly talk either. She gave me the opportunity to relax. I believe I fell asleep for a little bit. At the end, my face was glowing. The facial also included a quick hands and feet massage. It was an amazing experience. I will definitely be back and ask for Gaby. I parked in the public lot one block over, and was at the spa for a little over 3 hours and paid $5 for parking. I did not take pictures due to their privacy request. read more

A friend of mine recommended this place, as she knows how much I love spas. So I wanted to give this place a try. She said this Burke Williams was the best one, so I was excited to try. I went in and was not in awe. It was ok. Not bad, not great. It was ok - nothing super special. Some of the furniture/couches - waiting area was worn out and it was white so was very obvious. The women's locker room was cute, kind of small but I didn't mind it that much. There was a jacuzzi, but the sauna and steam room where closed due to construction - which I didn't like. The staff member (one only) in the locker room was a bit much. I understand that no phones are allowed, and I always respect the privacy of everyone, just as I would want for me. I was with my husband so I was going to my locker to check my phone to be mindful of the time and send a quick text and she came up to me twice. Mind you, I was literally standing right next to my own locker, not taking my phone with me and no one was around me. I did not appreciate that, I'm an adult and am mindful. My Massuse was also a bit late and seemed to be in a mood when I asked her a couple questions since it was my first time at BW spa. I would skip in coming to this location unless some major changes. I was open to trying other BW locations and tried the Topanga / Woodland Hills one afterwards and loved it!! It was so clean and nice. I definitely want to go there again. AHHHH, Burke Pasadena did a full lobby remodel! I came in to have a look-see and buy a gifty. Burke is a GREAT place to buy gifts, or it used to be. The lobby is filled with lots of yummies that any pampered gal will appreciate! So, I head in today and buy a very large and heavy gift....lavender spray, lavender blanket, lavender neck rest, soap, bubble bath.... I ask that the tags be removed as it is a gift. All items went in to one very FLIMSY bag that could barely hold them....I had to ask for some tissue. She did not wrap my items in tissue, instead lined the bag with tissue...see my pics. I had to stop at another store and actually buy a bag that would hold these items and NOT look like I went shopping at the dollar store! UGH!!! Burke, what happened to the lovely bags you once had with the rope handles? What happened to gift wrapping items that are purchased as a gift? Disappointing.... SEE PICS, they tell a better story. Got a weird vibe here this weekend when I decided to trade up what was left of the balance of a generous gift card, and add an additional amount and give it to a friend. The person at the front desk said it was "against the policy" to buy a gift card with another gift card. What I was wanting to do was to trade up my gift card by contributing more money to it. I am not sure their policy is even legal. From what I read below, by law I was legally entitled to the remaining balance being returned to me on the card. I didn't even have that in mind. Just wanted to add more money to the card. One of the magical aspects of Burke Williams is how accommodating the staff usually is. I felt suspect and like I was being difficult. Here is what I found about gift card owners' legal rights. https://www.consumerfinance.gov/rules-policy/regulations/1005/20/ (4) No fee or charge is imposed on the cardholder for replacing the gift certificate, store gift card, or general-use prepaid card or for providing the certificate or card holder with the remaining balance in some other manner prior to the funds expiration date, unless such certificate or card has been lost or stolen. Anyway, I was allowed to trade up eventually after the front desk person called her manager (not my request). A place where people choose to relax, enjoy a massage, and explore the ammenities that they have to offer. As long as a massage is reserved, we can stay for as long as we want and use the ammenities. I got the deep tissue massage for 25 minutes. The massage was relaxing, it was not as deep as I expected, but it was a nice 1-time experience. For the amenities, there is a jacuzzi which was nice until it got very hot for me, dry sauna is very hot, steam sauna was difficult for me to relax in such heat, cool mist shower where I couldn't really feel much and showers to wash off. There are definitely people who come here regularly to have a time to relax but it might not be particularly for me since I generally like to stay cool, but I enjoyed the experience with the people that I went with. The employees are very friendly and they work hard to constantly keep everything clean, which is appreciated. I enjoyed wearing the comfy robes, the cool towels that are nice to have when in the hot amenities, and the perfectly yellow bananas. read more

Checked in on Sunday over an hour prior to my appointment to relax and get ready. My therapist Bobby arrived in the common area at 3:35 for my 3:30 appointment. When we chatted in the massage room I let him know my two main concerns whenever I get a massage: I want all of my time, and I don't want 80% of the massage to be focused on my back, but to rather spread out my 80 minutes all over my body. Welp, he shorted my time and did EXACTLY what I asked him not to do. He spent so much time on my back he barely had time to massage anything else. Then when I returned to the common area after getting dressed and drinking water to find it was 4:45. My massage started late and ended early. I notified the front desk right away. They adjusted my price from an 80 minutes massage to 65. No other compensation. I am disappointed and would only consider coming back if I had a different therapist. Where do I even begin... I've been coming to Burke Williams ever since my mom transferred her membership to me because unfortunately she can no longer due to medical reasons. I kept the membership going because I looooooove the store manager Danica in Sherman Oaks, that's where I came from and originally went to always. The only reason I tried this location because one random day, this was the only location open ever since the new Covid hours. To my surprise they offered a 20% off my services because of reconstruction, so what they hey, mind as well take full advantage! Came here about 3 times and had the greatest experience from Zoe to Zapir for anti aging facials, here is where it goes really downhill. I decided to get a massage and try out those services...BIG MISTAKE...ARTUR was my masseuse and at first he seemed friendly but then something kind of threw me off guard when I started to ask, "did you go to school for this?" and he started to go on and on that he does this on the side and if I'm interested he would give me his contact info because he makes house calls as well. I thought to myself, that's weird, as classy as Burke Williams they probably aren't paying enough. Anyways, took down his information and I dozed off leaving my iPad on because I was shopping online, another guilty pleasure I have while being pampered. Anyways, finished the massage and went off my way. SMH...here comes the worst, the store manager called by the name of Carl Ford, stating that I'm banned from the location because I made one of his masseuse uncomfortable. I was pretty much floored and was like "excuse me". He goes on saying that one of his employees came forward stating that I was unprofessional that I was showing him explicit scenes on my device. I felt like I was in the twilight zone... now you are probably asking me, why didn't I report the masseuse offering his home services, look...I don't mess with peoples livelihood, if he offered it, perhaps he was trying to make a buck or two more or whatever the reason may be. Anyways, back to the story, the only time I could think of when I had my device was when I was shopping and I dozed off, he probably took offense of what clothing I was shopping for, anyhow, I was so floored and I asked the manager after he finished his whole tirade about I'm not allowed back, I asked him...sir, before you came to this conclusion to ban a member, did you ever ask me what happened? He kind of stuttered and went on about he's only trying to protect his employees which I understand, but he also has an obligation to find out both sides, from the customers stand point as well because truth is without customers, there won't be any employees right? I told him sir, that's funny because he gave me his phone number offering home services to me and isn't this his phone number? His response was, ohhhh...I didn't know that happened, I'm thinking well yeah you never asked you just jumped into conclusions, anyways to make the long story shorter he submitted his new findings to home office and said he'd stay in touch in a couple of days. Now mind you, he called me on a Saturday. Days went by and I haven't heard from him until I called the following Thursday and he didn't answer. What a shocker. Probably one of the most unprofessional people I've ever heard from. Then he finally called me back on Friday after leaving a message with his assistant and said, yeah so home office stays their ground we will not allow you to come back. Super disappointed and felt like I was a victim on homophobia. I'm not sure what was going on with this guy Artur's mind but definitely will never be coming back to this chain. All my friends cancelled their membership as well disgusted with the whole scenario. Hope you think twice about coming to this branch, if you are ever around Sherman Oaks, omg Danica and the staff over there is the best, I've never had one problem with them at all. My experience at Burke Williams (Pasadena ) 5/27/24 was a great way to end the holiday weekend. I was warmly welcomed by the staff in the front then was swiftly checked in. Even was asked if I had a locker location preference, thumbs up to that! The men's spa experience today was very relaxing and enjoyable as expected prior to my appointment. Towel racks were full, iced wet towels neatly rolled in the ice bucket outside of Sauna , steam room and hot tub. Props to the staff keeping all the essentials clean and available in the Spa area. I was booked for a 50 min. MEN's spa style facial with Brittnee. She was very friendly from the start and throughout the entire service. very knowledgeable as well when she explained each product. The staff is friendly and accommodating, service is hands down the best (I've gone to other locations) I was pregnant last year and the staff was extremely accommodating "shoutout to the women who started my bath and helped me in and out of the bath, treated me like a queen! You're essential" I recommend Chloe for a massage, Jasmine for facials, Britney for waxing. Truly disappointing experience. I had hoped with the remodel both service and experience would improve. I am most disappointed with purchasing a membership. I was not able to get the value of the membership as either the length of appointment (30 min versus 50 min) or techs were not available. Definitely not worth getting a membership. read more

I came by at a strange time because the spa was undergoing some renovations. I was aware of this, but didn't know to what degree the renovations were taking place. When I booked my massage and spa day, They had mentioned that a couple showers were closed due to the renovations. However when I arrived, the jacuzzi was also closed (apparently they were about to call me to tell me right before I arrived). The entire bathroom and spa floors are ripped up so you're basically walking on concrete. And most of the stone walls were bare. I believe now they are closing the spa to the public while they complete the rest of the renovations... but I wish they considered this before allowing us to book such pricey treatments beforehand. Luckily, the massage was indeed enjoyable. The amenities are still quite nice. However the spa experience was sub par. read more
