Great deals but there's never enough cashiers. It's not worth waiting 45 minutes in line.

If you are a big and tall guy like me and you don't want to dress like Homer Simpson in that episode where he gains a ton of weight to go on disability, this is THE place for you to shop. As you know, you cannot find 3 and 4x in department stores. The only other option is Casual Male XL and they charge a small fortune. It makes me wonder about these department stores. Who is running these places? They are shutting down left and right and they wonder why. Have you looked at America lately? How many guys rock a 34 waist anymore? But I digress... Burlington has all the major labels in sizes up to 5 and 6x for about 1/5th of the price you'd pay at a big and tall store. I've gotten whole new wardrobes for under $250. We're talking 5 new shirts and Good stuff too, Phat Farm, Sean Jean, Polo, etc. I've spent more than that on two shirts and a pair of jeans at CM XL. If you are an XL or smaller than you probably should avoid this place as you can probably find better deals at a Ross or TJ Maxx and you'll definately find better quality at the department stores, but for us fatties this place is a godsend. read more

This review is only for the children's clothing section. I'm on hot pursuit to look for a dress for our flower girl as well as keep an eye out for small little tuxes for our potential ringbearer. When I came here, I saw that they had already pulled out a bunch of dresses and toddler suits and tuxes for Easter. I was disappointed to find every other size except for size 6T, but I decided to give the place another shot by walking all the way to the back where their children's section was. Wow. There is tons of stuff. Literally. They had rows upon rows of kids clothing all over the place. It was overwhelming, and it didn't help that it was unorganized as well. What was nice though was that they made specific sections for girls' dresses and boys' suit pieces, so it was easy to go through the racks. I found some potentials for our flower girl, but I must admit that the styles that they carry are more old-school and formal, which wasn't what I was going for since our wedding is going to be outdoors during the summertime. Also, they have this no-return policy for all the dresses right now because of Easter. I guess the store is afraid that people are going to buy the dresses, have their kids wear them for Easter Sunday, and then return the dresses right after. It's a smart move, but it also sucks if you that slight chance of needing to return the dress in case it doesn't fit the girl! I didn't go through the toddler boys' tux and suit section yet, but there seemed to be a lot going on in that aisle so I'll venture into that area later. I think this place is worth checking out if you're looking for good deals and bargain prices. read more

There is a reason why I don't ever walk in here. Super messy, long check out lines, it was really hot in there and the fitting room smells like the SF bart station (pee)! I tried telling the cashier that people were confused about the line since we stood there for over 10 minutes and nothing happened. She didn't apologize and started to complain to the other cashier that they weren't getting any help from upper management and that if they wanted to make their quota/day that they should send them some help. Had a terrible cashier. Didn't see her name tag but the receipt said Kylie.. she did not greet nor bother to look at me in the eye. She never spoke to me. Then instead of giving me the receipt she just threw it towards me! So f***ing rude! Experiences like this literally makes me not go back to a business. I work in customer service and I know what it's like to have a very bad day but I also know how to fake a good smile and make our customer feel like they are welcome and appreciated! It's our job when we are on that field! She clearly has no idea or simply doesn't care which makes the business look bad. read more

This location is NOT for the faint of heart.. Either go in knowing what you want, or having the time/patience to sift through the items. I can find some AWESOME deals here (home decor, kids clothes, baby items) when I go M-F right when they open. Weekends are kind of a nightmare with screaming children all over the place. The biggest and best stocked Burlington in the South Bay, which is why I keep coming back. Added pro: their cashiers have gotten A LOT better and are waaaaayyy more efficient. Went here on a random Saturday afternoon. The place was absolutely trashed. I accidentally stepped on some merchandise that was in the aisle. It's got to be better during the week when the staff can recover from the weekend and re-stock the place. The best Burlingtons I've seen are the ones in San Francisco and in Newark at the New Park Mall. Better and more selection. Very efficient high volume check out operation here. read more

I purchased a convertible crib approximately 3 years ago. I needed to purchase the bed rails for the crib, so I stopped by the store. They indicated that I needed my receipt for the crib to even look into which ones I needed. They did not any catalogs of cribs which they stocked or a customer purchase inventory system. I searched through paper work and finally found the assembly instructions which included the manufacturer and model number. I went back to the store and they indicated they did not have that crib available and it was probably discontinued. I had to ask and push for them to call the manufacturer to see if they were still available or if they had a universal set. They called and said they were closed, but would take down my details and follow up the next day. To my surprise (heh), I did not get a callback and decided to follow up 2 weeks later. I told the employee in the baby depot the situation and after holding for 10 minutes, he simply said his co-worker indicated the crib was discontinued. I asked to speak to the co-worker and that did not go far, so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager took my details and called back 2 hours later. She said she called corporate and they could no longer order bed rails because the crib was discontinued by the manufacturer. I decided to take matter into my own hands and called the manufacturer. While the crib was discontinued the rails were still available for sale and they said I was not the first customer calling from their Burlington distributer. I completed my purchase in less the 5 minutes and now my rails are on their way. I would never make another major purchase at the baby depot. My advise, if you find a good deal on a crib buy all the accessories during your initial purchase. read more

This type of place...I don't expect much except low prices. I've actually found some really good baby clothes for a really good deal. That is about it. They have a lot of good stuff in the baby section and the prices are comparable to Walmart and Target. I find it hard to find clothing here for me so I don't even bother. The lines can get pretty long even and even though there are a lot of cashiers, its still a really long wait. I found Baby Phat and Rocawear for my kid. There are a bunch of other brand names too like Jordan, Nike, CK, Juicy and much more. So if you're like me and like dressing up your kid in designer clothes, this is the place to be. It might require some major digging but at least you're getting a good deal. I think the Rocawear onesie I got for my kid was only $3.99. Overall, I like this place for baby and kids clothes because you can find designer clothes for less. read more

Three stars alone for the fact that they have a large selection of Tiagnello handbags for under $100. Otherwise, this place is harder to find clothes then trying to look through a Nordstrom Rack and your worst Ross Store at best. This place looks like a department store threw up. There are incredible bargains here, but, as others have said before, be patient waiting in line. Employees play you no regard, they're just busy re-stocking and sorting. It's not their fault, though. They HAVE to. As for being a coat FACTORY, that only applies for men who are large, XL, XXL, or XXXXXXXXXXXXXXL. Small and medium jackets apparently don't exist. This place is always so messy, and it can be hard to find items the way things are organized. How ever you can get very good deals on some name brand items if you can find your size. I ended up finding a name brand suit for my wedding for probably half the price. The furniture they have on display is nice but if you go up to it and try it out it feels very fragile. Another bad thing about this place is their register situation. They have a door you can enter from the parking lot, and one you can go into the mall. The only register is at the mall entrance, so if you find something in the back you can't pay back there and have to make a long walk to the other side of the store. Argh, I haven't stepped in a Burlington Coat Factory store in years. I went here this past weekend and I was reminded why. This place feels like they took a Marshalls and trashed everything even moreso, and took out all the nice brands. There are some cheap deals sure but most of the clothing seems raggedy. seems like i happen to have the same issue as the most recent review. went to return some items with receipt and then a single item with no receipt . after waiting for 35 min in line the lady helped me and im not one to be rude or impatient because i have worked retail my whole life . the return policy online and ON THEIR REGISTER counter clearly states "non receipted returns accompanied by a photo ID and returns after 60 days will receive a merchandise credit for the lowest sale price" so is why i even tried returning in the first place . the cashier searched up my two cards and my phone number and email on account and didn't find me even though I literally have an account ... she got her manager after & he was useless and helpless . I told him about the policy literally on the counter that says about non receipted returns . He said it doesn't apply to that store . So why is it on your counter and why does it not strictly exclude that store if that is the case . He seemed so unhelpful and un- knowledgeable and claimed he was a supervisor, so I asked for his managers info and gave me no useful info but a sticky note read more

I went to BCF today for the first time. I was surprised by the sheer volume of merchandise they had under one roof. I purchased 2 bath rugs to replace the old ones I have now, for $4.99 each. The bedding section was a bit disorganized. The twin, full, queen and king bed sheets were mixed together in certain shelves. In the coat section, I found a coat I bought at the Stanford Macy's during fall/winter 2005 for about half the price. read more

Normally I don't review big chains since people basically go anyways. But this time is an exception. The service I received there just made me mad enough. So why not only one star? Well, they get one star for actually having what I was looking for (shiny silver leggings for a dance costumes...definitely not for going out ,lol). The second star is is for Kriti, the really nice girl who initially helped me when I went looking for them. First off, everyone is right; this place is a completely jumbled mess. It's hard to find anything you need. However, from past experience I knew where to look but there was none to be found on the rack. So I went to the front and that's where Kriti looked them up and verified that they still had 4 pair left. She said the area they would be in she wasn't familiar with so she would call someone to assist me. That's where it really went downhill. Look, I know it's not the best job in the world but put some effort into it. The person who came over was named Jenette (you know it says something when you remember names). If you ever find yourself looking for something and see Jenette, RUN THE OTHER WAY. Actually just don't bother. She took me to the rack (which I repeatedly told her I had checked) and then said that there must not be any. Um, hello, someone just said otherwise. So I wound up scouring the area without any help. I finally found a pair in the go-back area (would it kill her to even suggest that area?!?). She then saw me walking to the register and asked. "oh, you found some?" No, no, no, no , NO!!! I took all I had not to ream her for her non-existent help. I probably will go back to Burlington for those obscure items but it will not be the Milpitas one. read more

This was a complete shopping nightmare! I was on a massive shopping spree to go home for Christmas and I spent about 3 hours going through the store and picking out my favourite items. I was looking for a wedding gift and did not want to maneuver the shopping cart around the fragile ceramics, so I left it for 5 mins. I come back to look for my cart and it is gone. 3 hours worth of shopping went down the drain! After running around like a mad woman looking for my cart, I find it at the cashier counter with the staff putting back all of my things. When I ran to her and asked what happened she said that carts were not to be left unattended! And more than half of my items had already been returned to the shelves. For all those who know the magnitude of the store, it was crazy tracking down my items again. (many of which I never saw again!) One word of advise... DO NOT leave your carts at peak season. read more

Overall: Gets 3 stars because we found what we were looking for at a good price but it took awhile to search through all the boxes. My bg: I shop at retail, department, bargain stores and boutiques so I know what to expect and I am very aware of the differences among the stores. I would put Burlington coat factory alongside Marshall's and TJ Maxx so I expect a little chaos when looking for something specific. Staff: The employees were friendly and they definitely have their work set out for them with the mess people leave behind. I wouldn't blame them entirely for the messy store, because customers just throw stuff everywhere , but whoever manages this place needs to refocus on making sure things are in their rightful places so that customers don't think it's common place to litter the floor with clothes. Price: Found a good pair of Steve madden booties on clearance for $20 but I decided I didn't need them. They have good prices on other items. Main complaint: Shoes were all over the place, in wrong boxes, with wrong sizes and the wrong labels. And as for the security guard, how is a little old Asian man supposed to protect this place? My husband and son Love the discounts you can get at this store. I will admit I can save some serious money for Christmas here. But its hard to want to shop here because some of the clients let the kids run and around and do what ever they want. Include play in the clothing stands.. I was walking thru the store and got gum on the bottom of my shoe in the store.. EWWW. I realize this isn't the store fault but it doesn't make for a happy shopping experience you find the perfect dress and then you see dirt, candy or god knows what else some one has rubbed their nose clean with whats now in your hands. Yes, it can get a little messy in here, but all the workers are working their butts off trying to help all these shoppers find gifts and what not for their loved ones. I put a red coat on hold on Saturday 02/17/18 a red coat Coach brand and it was priced for $30 dollars and it's marked on a red tag. I saw the line and decided to hold it to come back to get it at a later time. Unfortunately I was not able to come back and came back for it the following day. Unfortunately whatever that was hold the previous day was put back in the floor. I was able to find it and went to fall in line again, a very long line I might add again on a Sunday morning and want to pay for it. To my surprise the guy in the counter does not want to sell it to me because they said it's a wrong tag. I asked to speak to the manager and her name is Cindy and still does not wanna sell it to me. I asked to call the customer care and told them about my experience and still won't do anything about it. First of all they accuse me that customers switch tags which is unfair for me and to all their shoppers! Second they have to fix what's happening with people who tag their merchandise and it is false advertisement to slap a tag in their items and not sell it after you go to the all the trouble in purchasing it. No compensation, no merit even if you call their customer care!!! I want that jacket for 30 dollars as what they advertise for and so disgusted with their service!!!!! The original price of the jacket is $49.99 and I can pay for it don't get me wrong but is the principle! Does anybody have the same experience? Horrible place. Got a Guess brand shoes for mom, wore for half a day and caused injury to her feet. I took them back the third day for return and the store refused because they were worn. The return policy is ridiculous since if the shoes were not worn, how would we know that they were of such poor quality? The merchant manager Micah S. Tracy gave me a corporate complaint number, which never gets through. Overall, it is worth of 1 star for its short wait time from low customer volume. read more

We had a pair of defective flips that was purchased from the Newark location last week. All we wanted to do was exchange it but it seem like a battle. The cashier was doing her job and informed us the store is that the defective product goes back to the store it was purchased from. Well this didn't make sense you are not franchise and isn't this a corporate store? We asked to speak to management to have this resolve. Their supervisor Lisa came over and quoted the same exact thing as their employee. shouldn't you as the supervisor be able to give a better explanation of why we can't exchange it. We didn't felt like she knew what she was doing so we asked to speak with the manager. The cashier next to her, Martha, She was awesome. She goes why are they having problems exchanging the sandal for another pair and the same price. She would have done it. So the manager 6 cashiers down said go ahead and do it. Wow really that was fast and the supervisor just sat there and was repeating the same policy as her employees. I have to admit this store is better then Newark. Cleaner and the layout is nicer. Would I shop here again...probably not. Btw the 3 star is for Martha not the store. I would have given them zero but they are lucky they have someone like Martha who was very upbeat. read more

#negativeReview I faced the worst customer service experience today. Came to return items that were 30 + days older. When buying, I was told store credit would be given if returned after 30 days. Online too, it is written that gift card worth the amount would be given. All good so far. Came to return the items within 30 days, but seeing the line, gave up and decided to come later. After 45 mins wait in the line, with just 3 cashiers I finally got to the cashier. Told my products were unused and just tried on. Decided that I have similar at home so came to return. The cashier (name: Keilani) then asked me "did it take you so long to decide if you liked them?" I know the cashier was overworked but this definitely is not the correct way to speak to your customers. I was then told that the items have lower price now and I will be returned according to the recent market price. Now, I looked up online there is no where this is written. Even the manager was unable to point to this policy. I tried to defend, only to hear back "not my problem". I don't care about loss of few dollars, but the attitude was the worst I have ever seen. This was the rudest conversation I have ever had with a customer service. You really need to do something about it seeing so many others have complained about this before. It is possible to find some very good deals here on a wide variety of items ranging from home goods to children's dress attire, but you will have to be patient and thoroughly search through their displays to not miss a good deal. I've bought quite a few items from this store at a fraction of the price of other stores, but find that men's shirts, winter wear, and electronic accessories yield the most savings. read more

Um, when I was a little kid I thought Burlington Coat Factory only sold coats. LOL. Well this is your typical discount store. I don't expect much and I don't set out on a mission to buy a certain thing. There's sooo much to look through and everything's super cheap. I looove the quirky and cute and elegant bath products. And I got a cassette adapter for my iPod for $5. Service is real slow, but I don't mind SO much because I'm saving a lot. read more

The rating is only on the service. I'm not sure about the merchandise because I wasn't even in the mood to go through it. Went here the other day with my family looking for something in the bedding area. Saw a sale associate and ask her a question. Here's how our conversation goes. Sales Lady: Oh I don't work here. Me: Oh okay, you think you can find someone that works in this department to help us out? Sales Lady: The department is very small so it's easy to find her. ...and then she ran away. So....am I supposed to hunt someone down to buy something ? I just don't get it. Maybe I'm expecting too much?
