We had an asbestos issue at one of our projects in La Quinta, CA and needed some help. Upon speaking with Jose, our sales rep. (who was great), the job was on the schedule. All things fair, I have to say that their actual work was excellent. All the walls, ceiling, etc. was removed properly. There was a miscommunication between the utility company and myself. Long story short, there was no power. One of my guys dropped off a generator and was full of gas and oil (we like to be prepared). He specifically told the crew member to keep an eye on the oil level because this type of generator uses more oil for some reason. Upon receiving the generator back, one of Burn's own guys stated that there was no oil left. This lead to the unit not able to stay on for more than 30 seconds. Jesse called after about three weeks (and no payment) to "get more information." I gladly explained the situation and he immediately got defensive and kept saying "I just want to get the facts." Note: when you're tone is aggressive and you're making passive/aggressive comments, you're not getting more information and alienating your customers. The generator cost $400 and they're refunding only $200. In summary, great work, but unprofessional management who won't work with you if there's an issue. read more

One of their reps came to give me a estimate and once we agreed on the price he said that he'll work on his Schudeling and call me back to confirm, it took him 4 times to change our appointment , every time he said to me oh I'm sorry we have to do the following day we are busy, and that day arrives I got a phone call saying I'm sorry I can't do it today , really ?!?!? In the last moment?! What kind of business call you the day of the scheduled start of work and just cancel on you !!! To make things worst I called the company and complained about it with their secretary and never got a phone call from their Mananger or owner, pretty bad work attic. read more

Wow! What an appalling experience! I won't say anything bad about our project manager, Sean. He's a stand-up guy who did as well as he could to make up for his terrible company's practices. Truly, this company's office management is ATROCIOUS. They canceled on us the day before their work was supposed to be done (and cost me over a thousand dollars in rescheduled work with other people as a result), didn't complete the full job when they finally did come, sent incorrect contracts (which at first conveniently listed a higher price than I'd agreed to) multiple times, and -- here's the kicker -- blamed me each time for their mistakes. You see, it was MY fault that they canceled on me last minute because I didn't sign a contract they hadn't sent me despite my following up multiple times! This company is the worst. Run, don't walk, to find a place you can trust. read more

Burns did great work; unfortunately my perception of them has been totally destroyed by their office team. They insist on photocopies of your driver's license and front and back of your credit card in order to run a credit card payment. I spent hours going back and forth with them explaining to them this is not legal; it's against California Civil Code; and violates Visa guidelines. Their manager Lewis (or Louis?) was particularly rude and would talk over me during phone calls. When I asked for the owner's contact information, Lewis refused to provide it. They are opening themselves up to massive liability for ID theft by photographing and storing customers personally identifiable information. I asked if they even shred the docs and they do not. This company Burns Environmental is a sheister company. They came to our place to do an asbestos abatement and left asbestos (popcorn ceiling) debris on the shelves in the closets. Their idea of an abatement of mastic containing asbestos on the floor consisted of painting over the mastic with something that came right off when water touched it. We had to hire another abatement company to clean up after these guys. They were there in the first place because of water damage and when they removed the kitchen sink and cabinets to do the mastic abatement they left a pipe dripping that flooded the kitchen floor and their "mastic abatement" paint solution just wiped off during the water cleanup. Call anybody else but Burns Environmental. They kept cabinets we wanted returned and claimed they had destroyed them or that "the other guys took them." They worked in tandem to rip us off with Rainbow Restoration from Oxnard (a company that stored our belongings and when they were returned to us we got other peoples stuff that Rainbow insisted was ours). All the glass in our China cabinet was broken when it came back as was an antique dresser and it's large oval beveled mirror. We tried to get them to compensate us for damaged. Rainbow Restoration promised to replace glass and refund a portion of our storage fee then the company changed their number and location and we never did get any resolution. Even calling corporate didn't get us anywhere with them claiming "we cannot be held responsible for franchise outfits." These guys just change their name and lisence and go on ripping people off. If folks say Burns Environmental did a good job for them look carefully at the scope of the work. If the job was a lengthy one as ours was you can bet they overcharged and didn't do what they were paid to do. read more

I requested a quote for asbestos removal and got a friendly knowledgable call back from Jeremy. I loved his customer care during our phone call. Jeremy educated me on how asbestos removal works and suggested to get our ceiling tested. He flagged how much a typical test should cost and that saved us some money. Remember to get three different quotes from actual labs not people sending to labs. I felt like Jeremy cared about our end goal and budget, he did not try to sell us on unnecessary services. We eventually got our test back negative for asbestos. Saved a ton of money by not having to go through an asbestos specialty removal services. Now a regular handyman/contractor can do it on the cheap. Its a breath of fresh air when businesses seek to educate potential customers and not sell too just sell. Do not chose Burns Environmental Services if you care about your home. This is my first review on Yelp, as I was compelled by our experience. All I can say is we did NOT have a good experience at all with Burns Environmental Services for our asbestos removal. Be warned that you should read their contract with a fine-toothed comb so that when this happens to you, you aren't as shocked and disappointed by the result as we were. We have a two bedroom condo that needed the acoustic removed from the ceiling due to a low percentage of asbestos prior to our home being remodeled. Brett, the project manager set up an appointment to visit our home and make an assessment. Based off the great reviews and local service, we decided to go with Burns.We emptied our ENTIRE home so they could perform the work. During the abatement, duct tape was used to secure the plastic containment instead of painters tape or other non-abrasive tape. We actually visited our home as the worker was removing the containment and was able to see the results in real time. The duct tape removed a large amount of paint; including primer and texture from all of the areas where this tape was used, including newly painted and previously painted rooms. After numerous failed attempts to resolve this with the managers, Jesse, the operations manager, informed us that there is nothing they can do for us. They claim that this is a very common occurrence and they can not be held responsible for any damage done, via they're contract. However I find it hard to believe that this is a common occurrence for a number of reasons: 1. Our condo is not that large and should not require excessive taping to hold up the containment. If this were the case, single family homes that are larger would have this problem consistently and I doubt they would have positive reviews if this happened on a regular basis 2. If this is common, they should communicate this and make it clear during the evaluation that this is a potential outcome, even if it is just a small chance 3. No effort was made to contact us prior to the decision to use duct tape instead of painters tape 4. Their own crew admitted that the wrong tape was used to put up the containment 5. Painters tape was used downstairs to secure the containment and did not damage the paint 6. When the crew came back to remove the fans, the worker also informed our contractor that they used the wrong tape to secure the containment. 7. They insisted that "old/cheap" paint has a tendency to come off, even though we used very high quality paint and applied it just recently. After I told the manager this, he changed his story and said that new paint is more likely to come off and they have no way of predicting what will happen. The only sense of responsibility that I received from them was the operations manager saying "Shame on us for not communicating better"; unfortunately "shame" will not cover over $4000.00 in damage that their service caused. I will continue to fight for the repairs to our home, however it is likely that Burns will not re-mediate our costs. read more

We had some bathroom issues which required us to open up the walls. After doing an air test with Air Tech, they found asbestos and referred us to Burns. Long story short, our little job quickly turned into a big job. Unexperienced in this area, Burns did a great job at communicating what they were going to do and when. Worked closely on the phone with Bret who was clear and informative. The onsite guy, Jose, came out, knocked out the work, and cleaned up efficiently. They worked with insurance to take care of the finances so I can't comment on that side of their service. All-in-all they made my 'problems' as pain free as possible.
