More of a 3.5 star review. The man who helped me get my burrito today was awesome! Super friendly and welcoming, he made my first trip to burrito bar incredible. I love the option to create your own burrito, and love that this isn't chipotle! All the ingredients looked and tasted fresh (I do think I kind of got the dregs of the Guac, if I was the server I would have prob comped it, especially because I watched him scoop me more of the discolored stuff. :/) But it was still tasty stuff! My only gripe is that my burrito was totally lukewarm. Compared to other burrito shops, I got back to work (a 3 minute walk) and discovered a really nice looking but cold burrito. Maybe I should have walked faster? I'm not sure, but it would have been great to have a hot meal. I'll be back. Close to my work and a great and filling option for lunch. read more

I stopped in for a quick bite to hold me over and ended up stuffed. I ordered the small burrito thinking it'd have some resemblance to a light meal/large snack and it turned out to be a good sized meal. The flavor was really good too. Was hoping to find something here that made it more appealing than Chipotle, unfortunately all we found was old shriveled ingredients and the taste of wet dog (I had the jerk chicken). We should have turned around and left when we saw the food under the heat lamp looking like Death Valley, but we were too hungry to move on. Maybe it's only crap on Sundays, in which case I suggest you only come on Sunday if to want to take advantage of the $2.00 beers. Neither my wife nor I finished our burritos. I really like Chipotle for its simplicity and ease of ordering. But on the other hand I really like Burrito Bar because it offers up more variety in toppings and flavors. I really don't care for spicy food but the jerk chicken and jerk sauce is pretty tasty. It is set up Chipotle style so you can choose your own burrito toppings but here you get to be a bit more creative. I am a fan and go back when I feel the need for something a little different. The staff was very friendly and even gave me a sample of a new style of chicken. For $6 I can get a tasty and filling burrito. I wish they delivered. read more

I live and work by Burrito Bar and LOVE this place. I try to eat a fairly paleo diet and making my own combinations of burrito bowls with different meat, fruit and veggies is incredible. Always clean, service is always friendly and they serve you enough food for 2 meals. read more

5 stars for service. Visited Burrito Bar a little while ago with my dog who was new to the city. I left him waiting outside while I went inside to order. Through the glass, I could see him anxiously waiting for me (it was his first time outside alone), and he started to whine a little. A man, whom I believe to be the owner, came up to me as I was ordering and asked if that was my dog outside. When I said yes, he told me that they are dog-friendly and whenever I stop in, just bring him right on in. He then got a bowl of water and sat outside with him while I finished paying. They were so sweet! I'd definitely be back if for nothing else than to support this little business. Why go to some random Chipotle when I have these lovely businesspeople to support?! Oh, and the food isn't half bad either. They have a grill right outside on the sidewalk that is always pumping out delicious-smelling meat. read more

Probably the worst "mexican" food we have ever had. We ordered two burrito bowls with all the fixings and all you could taste was lime. My husband nor i could finish it due to the strong taste. This place used to be pretty awesome. It's as if Chipotle went to Hawaii. But recently they've slacked pretty badly. No beers on draft (they still sell them, just out), not all meats available, soap out in bathroom, drink case almost empty, and so on... It seems like the owner has either given up or just doesn't have the money left to stock properly--this is unfortunate since the burritos are amazing! I'm so glad I came back! The customer service was great, the person who made my burrito was very kind and sincerely so. The restaurant is comfortable, relaxed, and clean; and the burritos are great! Don't get nervous if they don't put as much rice as you're used to at Chipotle, they're just saving room because they loaded my burrito with chicken and enough cheese that I could actually taste it (frequently a problem I have at chains). From what I can tell, this used to be a Taco Del Mar turned local. It's a great place to grab a quick bite for lunch. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Found this place walking around downtown Portland, and I am so glad we decided to try it out. The staff was very welcoming, and you can tell how serious they take their customer service. We were able to dine-in which is great, not many were eating there, but customers were coming in non stop the whole time we were there. They never forgot about us making sure we were enjoying our food and didn't need anything. The food was really good, I got a grilled chicken burritos bowl and the portions were so big. Went in, talked with (im assuming) the owner and he explained how it worked. Think Chipotle, but considerably cheaper. The deal he had going that day was two enchiladas for 6.25, with whatever you want with them for no extra (unless you get guac). Fresh & tasty! I love Mexican food; initially the name of the place caught my attention, then when I saw free WIFI, I couldn't walk away. In addition to being exactly what I was craving and needing (needed wifi for studying): it was very clean, the music choice was fun/hip, and the staff was cheerful and friendly :) They have student discount days too(if I heard correctly). Might be family owned, which only makes me love it more; going to try to bring cash next time to help avoid any card fees. Being vegan/vegetarian(with little effort they could start advertising themselves as having vegan options if they stored vegan sour cream), as well as a picky eater, finding a great place to eat and chill in can be challenging! Certainly will be back for more :) Great place! P.s. I couldn't make up my mind which sauce I wanted to try, so I asked the gentleman to put a little of all 3(in separate corners). Everyone is super friendly except for this grumpy old Mexican woman. After reading reviews and looking at the menu, I decided to give the burrito bar a shot. I was expecting decent Mexican food and I would say that's pretty much what I got. The food quality as a whole was just alright, and nothing felt super fresh either. But, that's about what I expected, so I wasn't disappointed. The one thing I will say is that their daily deals are nice. I ended up getting the nachos and a drink which were on special for less than the nachos themselves. All that being said though, I don't think I'll be returning any time soon considering how many other great options are around. read more

Loved this place. The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable, and comfortable with each other and their jobs. I ate a veggie black bean burrito with various extras, and my girlfriend got some kind of smoked chicken burrito; we were both SO impressed with how delicious it was. Seriously people!
