When she finally came back, she explained that they only come "American style," and the only tacos that come with onion and cilantro are the pork tacos. Well, I wish I would've known. She didn't offer or ask if I would like something else. The tacos were a mushy mess and absent of flavor, and the rice and beans tasted like they came from the bottom of the barrel that was sitting out all day. Honestly, I've gotten better Mexican food from the "roach coach" back in the day when I worked in a factory. The lighting was also weird. It kept dimming and getting brighter. Dim, bright, dim, bright. It sort of bugs me to do this review because Maria's was always one of those place we loved going to....not anymore. P. S. We went for dinner there last month, and it was less than stellar as well.

I concur that the food quality and portion sizes are not as we remember. The chicken fajitas (brought on a plate, not sizzling in a skillet) was quite possibly the blandest I've ever tasted. Ditto the accompanying guacamole, rice, and refried beans. I requested corn tortillas but the server brought flour tortillas. When I pointed out the error, she said no problem. And, what did she bring? More flour tortillas! My Missus was equally disappointed with her skirt steak chimichangas. There were three but they were so small, they could be consumed in 4 bites. Everything on her plate, too, was bland and to top it off the meat was overcooked. We won't be back anytime soon.

If you're a teenager living in Chicago, you most likely have hard cravings for some good Mexican food to fill your stomach. In my opinion, you can always find the best burrito or taco joint in the suburbs. One of them being Burrito House on Milwaukee Avenue. The restaurant itself is located in a small plaza, just next to Ballard road, and Chasers. When you first gaze your eyes upon the restaurant, the sign is not the flashiest. The words, "BURRITO HOUSE", in big bold red letters is written with a mexican man scarfing down a burrito. I don't know why but after all the times that I have been there, I have always tried to enter through the exit doors. Probably because it's closer to the register. Anyway, when you first walk in the smell of cooking steak on the grill, and strong spices entices you. The establishment has nice interior, with the walls being lined with a few paintings of a mexican scenery, and a tv that's always playing in the middle of the dining room. A good restaurant has to have nice tables. Burrito House has great tables that are lined with ceramic tiles with design on them. A good sight for when you sit down to eat. There's always a worker bringing out fresh food to be prepared. The doorway from which he comes looks very nice, as it is designed to look like doorway made of rocks, i thought it was a very nice touch. Overall, i really enjoy the setting, with my favorite spot of the restaurant being in the back where there are high chairs with a ledge-like table where it is a lot better to eat when you are with your friends. The menu, as you would imagined was mostly consistent of burritos and tacos. But this establishment does not just serve that, Burrito House also makes burgers and fries, so it's also kind of like burger joint. The place also makes the best supreme nachos that you'll ever taste. One small problem I would have with the menu is that the larger menu that is in front of your face is not really the main menu. The main menu is to your left when you look up. That is where you will find all of the deals and specials for the burritos, tacos, and tasty tortas. A king size chicken burrito is $6.00, a normal taco is $2.20, a large torta with any choice of meat for $4.80, and you can order all of these with some really tasty sides such as cheese fries for $2.70, or a side of beans and rice coated in shredded mozzarella cheese for $1.35. I, myself am always compelled to order a king size chorizo burrito with a side of rice and beans for $8.50 and a large orange soda. This may sound like a bit, but believe me, they give you a lot of food. And with great service might I add. The cashier always has a smile on his face and is very friendly when you are ordering. Every worker in that place wears jeans, a blue Burrito House shirt and their own baseball cap. I found that when you order, you can see them making the food right in front of you is a very nice touch. Really shows you what you are about to eat without any tricks. The food did take long to be served and when it was, it looked so elegant and ready to be devoured. The worker kindly asked me if I wanted any hot sauce or a side and I asked for mild sauce because I can never handle anything spicy. The burrito itself looked very nice on a long platter , thrown on the grill for a minute or two to give it that crispy tortilla taste to it as amazing. I always smear my beans on the bite i'm about to take to get a better taste. The burrito tasted really great. It had perfect proportions within in it, because with most burrito places, I am always served a burrito with a glob of sour cream on one side, or all of my beans at the bottom. But no, all ingredients were evenly spread out and it made it all the more worth it to spend almost 9 bucks. Not being able to control myself, i always end up devouring my burrito before i can wash it down with my soda. It's ok, because because i'm always left with a little bit of rice and beans to eat after. I always put a little salt on my bean to give it more flavor then mix the beans and rice together for an even better side meal. The food itself is very filling and i'm always left wanting something sweet afterwards. Burrito House has very tasty horchata drinks and golden yellow flan that always satisfies me. Overall, from the presentation of the restaurant's food, to its friendly workers makes every visit there the best. It's a huge bonus to live 5 minutes away from this tasty burrito joint. The food never disappoints me and always gets me full, as well as satisfying my taste buds. There food is priced very reasonable, with small orders that are cheap that can also fill you up. The place is ever crazy busy, but I would say the busiest it gets is around 5-7pm dinner time. There bathrooms are very clean as well. One complaint I would have is that the bathroom is a little small. I'd make it bigger. This is definitely the place to please your midnight cravings. The restaurant that I will be doing will be reviewing will be Burrito House.The restaurant itself has a 3.7 rating and has good reviews online. I have been to Burrito House many times in the past and I have been going to Burrito House for the past two days.I have been eating food I tried before and foods I have never tried before and The food is really good. I went to Burrito House around 10 pm after I got out of work,When I got to the place there wasn't really a lot of cars in the parked in the parking lot.When I went inside the restaurant I could already smell the good food in the kitchen and the food that people were eating and it was a scent that made you know that the food was good. The restaurant is pretty small and the atmosphere is like an average mexican restaurant.It has nice decor but the place isn't really that as clean but it isnt that bad.The tables and seats are pretty old and they had some left over crums on the table.Also the floor arent cleaned that well but its probably because of people coming in and out of the place.I kinda understand why the place isnt as clean because the restaurant is kind of a fast food resterant so people who come in will make a mess and the employees might not have alot of time to clean the place until closing time. The employees at this establishment seem to not be that excited about working.The cashiers are nice but they have a serious face and it makes them look like they do not want to work or they don't really care that much.The chefs on the other hand are really talkative and seem to have have fun while working. The best thing that I love about Burrito House is definitely the food.The meals are very good and are cheap to buy.When I visited Burrito house I ordered the Cheese Quesadilla Dinner and the cost was $5.30,I also had the King Burrito Dinner which was $8.50 and they were worth the price.The chefs made both of my meals really fast and they made it all look very nice and clean.The taste of both meals were worth every penny, It had an amazing taste and smell.The one thing about the both meals was that the food was really greasy but it doesn't really matter to me because the food was really good. I have been living in Niles for 4 years now, and let me tell you, I was super excited to find an awesome Mexican restaurant close to my house on the first try. I have probably eaten at Burrito House 30 times now, and I am sorry to say, I am never going back. The last time we ordered from there, about a month ago, we noticed right away that all of the food looked and tasted different. The burrito was smaller, not stuffed full like it always was before, and everything about it was not the same - from the cheese to the lettuce to the flavoring of meat. I believe they must have switched owners, because we decided to try them again tonight and it was the exact same thing....flavorless, chewy meat, small portions, and completely sub par ingredients. The food is completely different from before. I don't even understand how people are giving this place good reviews! The worst part of the experience was the ordering/picking up. The girl who answered the phone put me on hold for 7 minutes, and I eventually had to hang up and call back, but she had the phone off the hook so it was busy for another 5 minutes. Then...I go in there, and every time I have gone into this restaurant in the past, the guy at the register was friendly and fast, and the 4 cooks behind him would assist in getting the carry out orders and getting customers served quickly. Tonight, there was a girl at the register who was incredibly slow (which is understandable - it was Cinco de Mayo and very busy and she was obviously new) but what was awful was the lack of customer service and acknowledgement from the cooks on the front line, who had their backs to the huge line of customers the entire time, and didn't raise a finger to help that girl who was clearly struggling. I walked in at 8:22pm with 3 people in front of me, and FINALLY walked out of there at 8:40pm (18 minutes of staring at my food, ready since before I came in) with gross, cold food. I have never experienced such a lack of customer service before at Burrito House. I am super sad because now I have to find a good Mexican restaurant again!! So incredibly disappointed. The restaurant I chose to review is Burrito House on Milwaukee Ave., Niles. Most people rate this restaurant a 3.7 because the food is delicious, and the environment is decent. You can also see the meals they have on their website. To me Burrito House is a really good restaurant because the food is good and I've tried food that I never eaten before. I went to Burrito House on a Saturday afternoon with a couple of friends. When we got there, it wasn't as busy when I would usually go there. The moment I walked in, I immediately knew what I was going to get, but I wanted to try something new. You could hear the meat sizzling on the grill, customers asking for their next meal. That's how you know the food is really good. Burrito House has nice decorations and its an average size mexican restaurant. Some of the tables and seats are somewhat wrought. The floor and tables were dirty after people finished eating but its understandable because the workers probably don't have time to clean up the mess. The atmosphere is great because many people enjoy themselves with friends and family, the workers are talkative and very respectful. To me, I enjoy eating at Burrito House because the meals are priced at a reasonable price and the food is just great. When I was going to order, I decided to get something new, so I ordered the Cheese Quesadilla Dinner which was $5.30. Then I got my original meal, The King Burrito dinner and it was $8.50. I waited at least 10-15 minutes for meal, which was worth the wait. The chef's made the meals look really presentable and neat that I didn't want to even eat the burritos. The smell was great also. The only downside of the two burritos was that it was greasy, but that didn't stop me from eating it. Overall, The Cheese Quesadilla was really delicious, better than the original meal that I get. This place is great for a late night snack or a quick dinner. The ground beef and fish tacos are delicious but a little on the spicy side for me. Ok, I have eaten at a lot of Mexican places and the steak tacos here are perfect. There is no chewy fat on the steak which a lot of other places have. The menu recently changed with more meal options. The chicken pico dinner seems relatively new as well as the shrimp fajita dinner. I haven't tried either yet, I always want to, but then end up getting my fish or steak tacos!!! What can I say, I like what I like. Prices are about the same as other taco joints and the restaurant is very colorful and clean. If you're craving a late night snack, they are open until 5am. I have been here after 2am and it is usually still pretty packed believe it or not. Decent food. Pretty good price. Not too fresh. The main complaint is that they do not use gloves at all in preparing food. One of the guys went from working the register, handling money to answering the phone and went straight to using his bare hands in the assembly line adding ingredients and folding the food with his bare hands. WooHoo! They are open now!! The expanded and remodeled, looks great alot more room now. I love their taco's and pico de gallo and chips!!

I was in town with my family and my boys have never had Chicago Mexican food. We wanted something quick and inexpensive so we knew where we had to go. I asked him how much and he said no. So sweet since it was my son's fault not theirs. Food was as good as I remembered. Wish the pickled jalapeños had a few more of them and just a couple carrots. So, we noticed the young man didn't bring utensils so I went up to ask him for some, he gave us deserts spoons and called it a day, so my wife ate her rice and meal with the tiny spoon. It's a small restaurant a whole in the wall as I call them and maybe they haven't been there long so I wasn't going to act a fool. My wife wanted to walk out the minute she smelled the stench of the sewer. So, when we finished eating we asked for the check the young man said you can come pay here when your ready. My wife said the young man wad very attentive and the food was good but, I won't be returning soon.

Today I needed lunch but I was short on time, so I ordered the El Tortazo salad with chipotle chicken, to go. It only took a few minutes and I ate it in the car. It was delicious! I loved it and can't wait to come back and try other things when I have time to dine in.

The total displayed on the screen was $30.36. I paid with my credit card and carefully signed the bottom of the electronic screen. The cashier then told me the payment didn't go through and brought the screen back. While I was still there, she suddenly pressed something on her side of the register. I went and sat down, and when I looked at my receipt, I noticed that a $6.07 tip had been added to my bill. I never authorized or selected that tip. What made the situation even more concerning was that the cashier initially seemed unhappy when I asked for a printed receipt. When I approached her after noticing the unauthorized tip, she looked away. I told her directly that I had never added a $6.07 tip. She simply responded, "I'll remove it." That response made me even more uncomfortable because it seemed far too casual, as though this was something that could easily happen and be corrected only if the customer noticed. I am sharing this because customers need to carefully check their receipts before leaving. Always ask for a printed receipt and verify that the amount charged matches what you actually authorized--including the tip. I found this experience extremely disturbing and unacceptable. A tip should only be added when the customer knowingly and voluntarily chooses to leave one. Please check your receipts. I understand your explanation that employees cannot manually add a tip and that a customer must select either a tip amount or "No Tip" on the customer-facing screen before signing. However, that is exactly why I am questioning this transaction. I did not select any tip amount, nor did I select "No Tip." I went directly to the bottom of the screen and signed my name. I did not authorize the tip that subsequently appeared on my final transaction. If your system requires a customer to actively make a selection before a tip can appear, please explain how a tip was added to my transaction when I did not make that selection. I would like you to investigate the electronic transaction record and determine what selection was recorded, when it was made, and how the tip was applied to my transaction. If your system shows that I selected a tip, I would like to know exactly what was selected and how that selection was recorded, because that does not reflect what happened from my perspective. I am requesting that the unauthorized tip be refunded and that you investigate this matter rather than simply telling me that employees cannot manually add tips. That policy actually makes my question more important: if I did not select the tip, how did it get there?

Ambiance leaves a little to be desired, the door glass is cracked and they're right next to a laundromat. But don't let that fool you! There was a steady stream of customers at 9pm both dining in and carrying out. They have a very good selection of Mexican dishes at excellent prices. The food itself was also amazing and they are pretty generous with their portions! I got a combination dinner and it lasted me 2 meals. This might be our new favorite Mexican place in the northwestish suburbs!
