    Grilled Rack of Lamb
    Ry T.

We stopped by for dinner and since we've dined here many times over the years, there are several favs of ours. We shared the 4 pc falafel which they make so well and the red lentil soup. 2 of us ordered the rack of lamb which came with asparagus and a rice dish that had unusual flavor which I liked more than their usual white rice pilaf. The other dish was the lamb kebab. We decided to share 2 desserts - the baklava which came divided in 4 bite sized pieces. It was good but I've had better ones where it was drenched in lots of honey syrup. We got the last chocolate mousse cake which was tasty. They ran out of the creme brulee. Service was good, water glasses filled and staff always friendly.

Came back for dinner on a Tuesday night. I wanted something light so I had the lentil soup and the combo appetizer platter. I'm lactose intolerant so I asked if I could swap the haydari with some extra ezme instead and they were very accommodating. It was served with freshly griddled pita which went well with all the dips. I also enjoyed the chickpea salad. The soup was good too. My friend got a shrimp kebab which she loved. She said she was thinking about it since the last time she ordered it. The service was great too. The staff is always very friendly and nice!

Bursa is a hidden gem located in the West Portal neighborhood. On a weeknight my party of 2 was able to just walk-in around 5:45 with no reservations. Service -- waiter seated us quickly and brought menus, took order. Very good service, also brought check as soon as I requested it. Ambiance - Nicely decorated with banquette seating along the wall, and also not noisy (it was around half full). Very colorful and pleasant. Food - Now for the best part -- really good Middle Eastern food! I saw the restaurant on Check Please Bay Area and it looked amazing. Since there were just 2 of us with smaller appetites, we split the hummus appetizer with fresh pita, and the falafel salad. The Falafels have cheese and raisins in them -- so good! If I visited again with 2 more people, they have a large appetizer plate that includes baba ganoush, hummus and 3 or 4 other foods to dip in. Wine list was also good, I had a very nice glass of Crossings Sauvignon Blanc. There is street parking but you might have to drive around a bit. We parked 2 blocks away. I definitely plan to return.

The food is always amazing here. top tier lentil soup, great dippers and the kebab plates are filling and wonderful complete with an excellent and nutritious side salad of arugula and plenty of rice! the service was nice, easy to call the staff over and they were really quick with the water refills and the restaurant is clean with plenty of booth seating (my favourite) I've been here several times and Im always excited to go back.

Came for lunch on a Sunday with a party of six. Restaurant was not busy and we were seated right away. The waitstaff was nice and attentive. We ordered an appetizer and various lunch combos: chicken kabobs, veg kabobs, wraps. These entrees came with rice, hummus and salad. The food didn't take long to serve. Everything was delicious, chicken was tasty and moist, salad was fresh. There is metered street parking on West Portal, but since we came on a Sunday, parking was free. If no parking available, the nearby streets will have some curb parking if you're lucky! Restaurant is clean, beautiful decor, and the restroom is unisex. Definitely a go to spot for delicious Mediterranean food in the city!

It has been a while since we have dined here. Came in over the weekend while we were in the neighborhood. The location. . . West Portal (I consider West Portal to be a hidden gem location) The decor. . . nice, clean and well thought out design and color scheme The menu . . . small with nice selections, and a couple of daily specials The food. . . Very good. But I have to admit not quite as exceptional as the first visit Musakka - this was different than you may be used to. Served in a dish and is more of a stew and less "lasagna-like". The eggplant, zucchini and potatoes were cooked perfectly (not mushy), the flavors were still good. The top notch service was excellent from beginning to end. I think it is all good.

Happy to have found this place! Very delicious, a wide variety of items to try. I got the lamb skewers, came with rice and a salad. Not a traditional Greek salad though. The spreads were all good. The staff was lovely. A little bit of a tight fit inside with a high chair but we made it work.

This was a nice find in the West Portal area. The food was amazing! Full of flavor. The lentil soup was delicious and the Adana kabob was full of flavor. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Cute nicely decorated restaurant you should visit!

Excellent restaurant nestled in the neighborhood of west portal. Great take on Mediterranean foods and flavors. Food: I had the spicy adana which was really good. But we ordered four of their other wraps and if I were to rate them it'd be: 1. Salmon 2. Citrus chicken 3. Spicy Adana 4. Kofte Now the spicy Adana and the kofte were almost the same taste. Which is not surprising because the only difference is the haydari. The salmon was fresh, had a good blend of each ingredient complimenting each other, and fills you up nicely. Same with the chicken, but salmon was just slightly better. Definitely will come back again!

I had the chance to join a few friends for a 6 PM dinner at Bursaa charming yet narrow restaurant located in West Portal. Upon arrival, all the tables were occupied, and we were informed of a 10-15 minute wait. We added our name to the list, and within five minutes, a party was wrapping up and leaving their table. We seemed to have arrived at just the right time, as four more parties came in shortly after us. We were seated by a friendly host and introduced to our server, who was very attentive and handed us the dinner menu and wine list. As we browsed, we started some small talk and selected drinks. Two of us ordered the 2022 Crossings (New Zealand) Sauvignon Blanc, while our other friend chose Efes, a Turkish pilsner (a 300 ml bottle dated October 2024). For an appetizer, we ordered two plates of Dolmas ($6 each), which arrived with four pieces per plate and a refreshing cucumber yogurt sauce. The Dolmas, while flavorful, seemed as though they had been stored in a refrigerator and were slightly firmer than I prefer. That said, they delivered excellent flavor, with hints of herbs, mild spices like allspice and cumin, and what seemed to be pine nuts. Despite the thick texture, the grape leaves were a lovely start to our Turkish meal. For the main course, I debated between the Musakka and the kebabs and asked our server for her recommendation. She suggested the Adana Kebab if I wanted something spicy or the Köfte Kebab for a milder option. On her advice, I decided to combine both. My friends ordered the Musakka and the Beyti (ground beef and lamb wrapped in lavash). Before the food arrived, we had our 2018 Chimney Rock Elevage opened, enhancing the dining experience. The food preparation was impressively quick, and our dishes were served within 10 minutes of ordering. Each dish looked incredible. The Musakka arrived bubbling hot, the Beyti was beautifully presented with a dollop of yogurt and tomato sauce surrounding the lavash-wrapped pieces, and the kebabs were served over a bed of rice alongside a simple side salad. The Köfte came on a skewer, while the Adana kebabs were not. The kebabs were delicious. The Adana Kebab had a fiery spice, as promised, but it wasn't overpowering--it complemented the flavors well. While they appeared a bit dry at first glance, this wasn't the case; both were moist and flavorful. I enjoyed the Köfte slightly more than the Adana, but I would happily order both again. The Musakka, however, was a bit of a disappointment for my friend. The preparation wasn't what he expected, feeling more like a "Musakka surprise" than the traditional layered dish he'd had before. The Yukon potatoes were thicker than he preferred, and while the flavor was good, he mentioned he would choose something different next time. The Beyti, on the other hand, was a hit. My friend who ordered it had enjoyed it before and once again appreciated the flavorful mix of ground beef and lamb. The yogurt and tomato sauce were the perfect accompaniments, elevating the dish. All in all, it was a wonderful evening of good food and great company. Our total came to about $140, including corkage, which felt reasonable. The staff were professional and efficient, and the owner was present, engaging with diners--a nice personal touch. I would definitely recommend Bursa to anyone in the West Portal area looking for a delightful Turkish dining experience.

Arguably top Mediterranean spot in SF! Bursa's flavorful food and warming staff made the dining experience great. Would come back to this cozy spot in West Portal. Items my party tried: -Mixed Grill Plate 5/5 Included lamb, rack of lamb, Kofte, Chicken. Meats were tender and packed with flavor. Salad was light and couldn't go wrong with the rice. -Hummus & Baba Ganoush (Not Pictured) 5/5 Recommend trying one of their spreads! Comes with a generous portion of pita. -Chicken and Lamb Kebabs were good 5/5

A local Mediterranean spot that all the dishes are spot on. Nothing fancy but still great quality. Dish: 1) Lamb & Beef wrap: sooooo good, highly rec. The side of fries are pretty good too 2) Falafel wrap: delicious but a bit more dry because I omitted the pickles Logistics: -metered and non-metered street parking -accepts card -has small unisex bathroom

The fresh bread that came with it was amazing. We probably could have just snacked on this pair all day. The Branzino fillet was pretty good. I like that it was a fillet vs a whole fish, so I didn't have to deal with bones. It was a little bland for me though. I added the garlic sauce which gave it more flavor, but I would have liked not to have to do that. Not bad, but could be better. The Kofte plate was also pretty good, but again a little bland for me compared to the Kofte at Mazra or a koobideh at one of favorite Persian spots. Again, not bad but much more flavor when I added the garlic sauce which and hot sauce. Service was excellent. They were attentive and refilled out waters without asking. The unisex bathroom is EXTREMELY clean. A good indication of how they keep their kitchen. Definitely a plus. This is a nice local spot we'll have to come back to so we can try other items. This visit, however, was just okay. Next time I'll have to try the lamb dish and a few others.

Mogannam did a complete rebrand from an American burger restaurant to a fast-casual "Arabic comfort food" establishment that's named in honor of his mother and features her scratch-made recipes. To say it's a success is an understatement, as they've been named one of the best restaurants in SF not just by the Chronicle, but even made the NY Times' "The 25 Best Restaurants in San Francisco Right Now." After one visit, it's clear to see why. The Good: * Yelp Waitlist available * Bus stop right outside the door * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Fast-casual order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. * Service was friendly and efficient. * Palestinian and Jordanian beers in bottles! I didn't even know that was a thing. * Falafel were about 98.753% like my mom's. In a word: delicious. * Musakhan was phenomenal. The chicken was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and the sumac-onion "relish" was spot on. Get this. * Handmade pita bread was delicious. * Carissa enjoyed her Shish Tawook plate, as they were smart again and used chicken thighs which kept the well-seasoned meat nice and juicy. The concomitant hummus was fantastic, and the "Mom's Rice" was fuhgeddaboudit good. She did think the chicken could've used an extra thirty seconds on the grill to firm up the meat just a touch, but otherwise it was perfect. The Meh: * The Fattoush salad was just OK. It was overdressed and needed more dates that were cut into smaller pieces so that you get more of it in each bite to help offset the vinegar. The Ugly: * Parking here is a real hassle, as it's street parking only and it's all neighborhoods. So, be prepared to drive around endlessly looking for an opening. Conclusion: Best Palestinian food outside of me mum's kitchen. Unexpected is the word I would use to describe this restaurant…read more We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a fantastic evening. From the moment we walked in, everyone made us feel genuinely welcome. Erich, Yulia, Tuba, and even the busser were incredibly attentive, friendly, and made the experience feel special. The kibbeh wasn't quite what we're used to from other countries, so it wasn't our favorite--but that's simply a matter of personal taste. The flatbread absolutely won my heart. Warm, fresh, and so delicious that we couldn't stop eating it. The lamb was unbelievably tender, practically melting in our mouths, and we kept going back for more. Paired with a lovely bottle of wine, everything was simply outstanding. Delicious food, warm hospitality, and a memorable atmosphere. It was absolutely worth the price, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommended! Obrigada!
