I can't believe it has taken me this long to come here. Burt & Max's was such a great spot for lunch, and the Marketplace has so much to offer. I loved that we got to walk around the plaza after lunch! I made reservations to ensure we got seated right away, and I am glad I did. The place was pretty busy already so early in the day. Service was great! Our waitress answered all our questions, and even suggested her favorite meals. We started off with the oven brick oven chicken wings, and they were by far the best wings we have ever had! They had so much flavor, and the chicken was so tender!! I went with the Southwestern Chicken Salad, and the portion size was perfect! I even had plenty to take home for lunch the next day. My boyfriend went with the roasted mushroom pizza. I tried a slice and it was delicious. The crust was crispy and the cheese was melted just right. My boyfriend also loved that they had an old fashioned flight. That's his favorite cocktail, so having the chance to try out three different whiskeys was right up his alley. Overall, fantastic spot! I would definitely come back for lunch or dinner! Yesterday was one of those Jack Bauer kind of days. I was up since 5am to wrap up one project before hitting the road for a site meeting in Tampa and back to Miami. Did I mention having to drive back through Tropical Storm Eta 2.0? Burt & Max was the first "nice" restaurant that came up getting back into civilization, a true oasis! Located in a Town Center in Delray and with a nice amount of parking, Burt & Max has nice wood finishes and a warm vibe with pleasant staff. It's right off the Turnpike too, and I would easily make a drive and come back. I appreciate that the staff was attentive to allergies with each dish. My main was their blackened chicken and quinoa bowl. Of course, I appreciate that they opted out the avocado. The sweet potato pieces (with maple chili seasoning) had a nice consistency and balanced the hint of a kick from the chicken pieces. Quinoa had a good, clean favor. I wish there was an option for a larger chicken portion. No complaints on flavor, but I would like more meat. Their roasted tomato soup was perfect for warming up after the road. My order of brie, complete with blackberry jam for added flavor was a perfectly sinful cheat, the kind I looked at the scale and gave a "sorry not sorry" look :) read more

I had never frequented Burt & Max's until my recent visit to the restaurant in the Delray Marketplace to enjoy brunch with my Dad. I was pleased with what we ordered and our waiter's excellent service (I always had water and iced coffee refilled). Having made a reservation for outdoor seating for brunch at 11 am on a Sunday, this time slot seemed to be a smart decision as the place was becoming pretty filled by the time we paid the bill. They had a short, succinct brunch menu in addition to the all-day menu available. Being we were there for brunch, I ordered one of the brunch sites in the Turkey "Croque Madame", comprising aged gruyere cheese, applewood bacon, charred tomato, spinach bechamel, sunny-side-up eggs, and toasted sourdough bread. It was delicious and definitely satisfying. I was close to ordering the waffles, but the Croque Madame sounded more interesting. I had a nice experience outside, where the tables were all spaced out for social distancing and were sprayed and wiped down after a party left. It was a good spot for brunch, certainly. read more

Ok.. Wow. I am blown away that this restaurant has an average of 4 star reviews. The food was awful. 15 minutes after being seated, we were still not approached by a server. I had to get up and go to the hostess stand to ask for a server. We were seated in the rear of the restaurant , and it smelled kind of musty. The server was nice when she came over. But I ordered the fish tacos and shrimp tacos came out. No problem. I ate 2 out of the 3. They weren't great. My wife got a turkey burger and it came out pink. Turkey should not be pink. My daughter got a caesar salad and she said the dressing tasted sour. Like I said, the server was good, but the kitchen seemed to be the problem. We will never be back if we ever return to the Delray area. Definitely not worth the money. read more

What the heck happened? I've been going to this place for many years for some unknown reason we took it out of our restaurant rotation, but remembered it and went back recently. What a disaster. The food was horrendous, certainly not like it used to be. from the appetizers to the main course and kids dishes, everything turned out poorly. A burger that was supposed to be medium came out raw. Our appetizer had a strange aftertaste. The bright spot of the evening was the service. Our server was very remorseful and very attentive. Used to go here a lot, and liked a dish they no longer have, which was a coffee rubbed New York strip. Then one day we got one, and it was just all gristle and fat, so we never went back. I really like the way they do salmon with jasmine rice, and the roasted beet salad. I am planning to try it once again. I was excited to get the brussel sprouts again and sadly they were overcooked... cooled down and tatsted like they were reheated in the microwave, didn't even finish. The calamari was devoid of all flavor and the rings themselves could have been mistaken for onion rings, all crunch and no calamari. For the entrees we ordered the overpriced Salmon A la plancha, the ihop reminecent peppered steak, the VERY good Meatloaf and the korean bowl that got some fan fare. Overall the meal was lacking. Two drinks at the table ran you about 30 bucks... though they have a fantastic happy hour at the bar for half off all their drinks. Yes, I went to the bar and got drink number 2 from there with no shame for 19 bucks. I'd come back and hang out here from 4-630, I can see it being a local hangout for sure. In fact, not only all that, but it's conveniently located in Delray Marketplace and I don't care for it or the parking, but like this place enough to come back again and again. I had a vodka/cranberry with a splash of pineapple martini style. Nicely done. My tomato bacon cheese sandwich with a salad was really good! The salad as my other half or side - it was really big!!! Located at Delray Market Place Burt and Max is a great spot to hang out. We dined in on a Thursday evening around Christmas time when it was busy but the wait time and service was on spot. They also have a Fireplace just outside during wintertime. We had Salmon Shrimp Burger with crunchy onion (which is $4 extra). My sandwich was delicious. A big chicken breast with melted cheese, avocado, bacon tomato and lettuce. I didnt try my cousins vegetables but it looked good. Probably the worst dinning experience I've had in a while. From the first interaction with the hostess I should have left. It was my first time dining out by myself after having a baby and I wanted some quiet time. I asked for a table and the hostess looked at Me and said that waiting time was 30 min when the restaurant was visibly empty. She told me I could just sit at the bar. I went then to the outside bar and waited for 10 minutes for service. He asked me if I was ready to order when I didn't even have a menu. I asked for and menu and ordered a glass of rosé. Waited 5 minutes more, when the Rose came the glass was extremely dirty, I asked another server if she could change the glass for me. My server saw that the drink was missing and didn't even ask if there was something wrong. I ordered a burger and it came to temperature and it was just ok, nothing to write home about. I asked for a casamigos margarita with my meal and as I was almost done it arrived and it tasted horribly. It tasted like store bought mix and no tequila. I immediately asked for my check and told the server that the margarita was not good. To what he responded ok... when he handed me the check the margarita was still on it...
