Absolutely horrible food. We ordered the skirt steak and we couldn't even cut or chew it. Looked like shoe leather. Brussel sprouts had no taste .the salmon was over cooked and dry. This past experience was excellent. The food was delicious and prompt. I highly recommend the onion soup dumplings. This was a dish I have never tried before, but will now be craving probably for years to come. Just writing about it makes me want some more of those dumplings! I very much enjoyed the food, drinks and ambience. The Brussels sprouts were amazing, my gruyere burger was a bit overcooked but still delicious. But what made the evening a bit more special was the service, which to me is a make or break deal when dining out. Our server Felicia was beyond good. Sadly we had a very poor experience tonight. We love this place for many reasons so we called weeks ago to make a reservation for eating outside with the kids and grandkids. Our reservation was early 530. We were only 4 adults, one child and our 1 year old needed a hichair. When we arrived there were MANY tables outside available. But Tommy the manager refused to put us outside. He put us way inside and couldn't care less that we asked once more to be seated outside. There was a concert going on too, which we knew in advance so the whole thing was extremely irksome. I was extremely disappointed in our treatment and feel the attitude of the manager needs to be addressed! We will think again about returning.. Fifth time at the restaurant. This time was a Tuesday lunch. THE SERVICE- Mixed. .................................... HOSTESS - Very friendly, acknowledged us immediately & seated us right on time for reservation. WAITRESS: Friendly but distracted and expressed ZERO interest in satisfying her guests. Examples: (1) I ordered lunch she was eavesdropping on next table and I had to repeat my order. (2) removed silverware after appetizer, I offered to keep it for my lunch but she said no trouble. She didn't bring new silverware, runner brought my lunch & I couldn't eat. (3) Sloooooow to refill water/drinks (4) No interest in returning to check on us (e.g. we needed a side plate for appetizer, etc); check etc. Manager: Seemed irritated when we asked him to bring the silverware (because waitress forgot); not a normal situation I'd say - but was my experience Different Waiter Was Told to Help on Water: Filled my water glass SUPER friendly, genuine smile - making sure we had all we wanted. He seemed truly happy to work there, loved the place & his job & that personality totally impacted our experience. Totally illustrated the old point - you can't teach someone to be friendly. :-D Usually wait staff is great. We try so hard to be very friendly when we go out. Went for brunch. Ordered crispy bacon. It came out barely cooked. Avocado toast was severely lacking avocado. Should be called corn toast. Ordered my eggs over easy but one of the two eggs had a broken hard cooked yolk. Server didn't check in to ask if we needed more drinks or if everything was ok. The food was served about 35 minutes after it was ordered. We ordered around 1:30pm and served a little after 2PM. We were starving. The half sandwich came on very hard dry stale toast that was awful. It probably sat at the cooks station for a 1/2 hour. Difficult to bite into. There was exactly 1 slice of lox that was not particularly good, 1 slice of tomato, 1 slice of bacon and 1 piece of lettuce. They didn't bring the aioli. Try something else. Don't waste your money. The side of sweet potato fries was delicious. The table was sticky and obviously not cleaned particularly well and we had a view of the bathrooms! My tablemates had the omelet and the turkey wrap. Don't bother going to the bar at happy hour. Bar maid has to serve tables along with the bar. Takes 1/2 hour to get a drink and another 1/2 hour to get a bar bites menu. Leave the bar maid at the bar and get servers for the tables. Won't go there anymore. Waited and waited 3 weeks in a row. Gave them a chance but no more. Not the bar maids fault. Last night we went at 5pm. There were 2 tables taken with people eating out of 100 other empty tables. When we checked in the hostess / manager asked if we had a reservation. I smiled and said no. Then when we asked not to sit in the way back where she was planning to seat us she got all rude and nasty and started saying things under her breath to the person seating us. She had to look at her table map and was all flustered at how we asked to not sit in the way back all alone and how thoughtless to not have a reservation at 5pm on a Wednesday in the summer. We did have a good meal and the waiter was excellent. The manager should consider another occupation or learn better people and communication skills. When we left 45 minutes later there were maybe 10 out of 100 tables being used. Pretty sure an empty restaurant doesn't require a reservation. I also happened to see a friend walk in and was treated similar by the hostess / manager and he left and ate elsewhere. read more

I have eaten at Burt and Max's 3 times in the past month for brunch. I have thoroughly enjoyed it each and every time. I cannot wait to go back there again and get another meal. 2 of the last 3 times I have had the pleasure of having Joey as my server. Joey is amazing he has a great personality and is extremely attentive. When me and my grandmother sat down for brunch today he remembered exactly what we had to drink from one month ago. He always gives great recommendations from the menu. He is definitely an asset to have on the team over at this restaurant.
