Place is really good with fantastic staff.They help each other out when the place gets packed. Ordered two eggs over easy, hashbrown, toast and of course hot cocoa. This place can be a joy to eat at or a complete waste of money. I have tried this place many times over the past 20 years and the best that I can determine is that sometimes they have good staff and sometimes not so good. The first time I came here, a different lady served me, and the breakfast was pretty darn good. This time.........I sit there for 10 minutes, and a lady walks up to me asked me what I want, and I said the eggs, bacon, sausage meal, and she rudely says "we don't serve that on the weekends", walks away from me, and proceeds to take someone else's order (regular? dunno).............Just walks away from me.......after "we don't serve that on the weekends".......and starts to take some completely different person's order than the one she was talking to. The Busy Bee is a unpretentious place. It's very simple in it's decor and has a great down home feel. The staff is friendly and accommodating as well. Our server was Bina, a sweet helpful young woman. The menu for breakfast is simple yet plenty of choices. My wife had bacon and eggs with biscuits and a half of a cinnamon roll. I had corned beef hash, two eggs, hash browns and biscuits. The food however plentiful is where this breakfast went south. The biscuits were average but heated in a microwave in plain view of customers. My corned beef hash was out of a can. The half cinnamon roll was covered in thick dense icing. Thick enough to be cut with a fork. This meal was a big disappointment to say the least. We both agreed we wouldn't be going back. read more

I won't beat around the bush... skip this place. There was absolutely nothing that my family of 5 had that was worth paying money for. They can't cook eggs to the requested temp, the hash browns are soggy/mushy, the only inedible bacon I've ever had (soggy with grease), pancakes that my pancake obsessed 6 yo ate 1 bite of (haven't seen that before or since), coupled with being crammed into a booth barely suited for 2 people (couldnt even fit all of our food on the table) while an entire room full of larger tables in service that we were not allowed to move to exists...makes this a place I am unsure of why it exists and will never return to. Can you make a decent breakfast in your own kitchen? If so, you could open a diner next door and run this place out of business. Please do! I got the chicken and waffle. Came with two tenders, which were flavorless. One was decent sized and the other was small. Both were hard to choke down honestly. The coffee was good thou. Once we saw that the restaurant was at 100% capacity, with very little space between tables, and the wait staff was not wearing masks properly (some taking masks off completely to have conversations) we decided to take our food to go. We have been here multiple times over the last 3 years or so and each time we have come the service gets worse. The staff is slow, with sections that are obviously larger than their current waitressing capabilities. The cook or possibly cooks (which I doubt there are multiple based on the times) is by far the longest wait time. We arrived at 11:20, I debated between ordering breakfast or lunch and decided on breakfast since it wasn't lunch yet. By the time the food was delivered to the table I realized lunch was more of an option. We ordered at 11:35 and it was not delivered until 12:40! Would not recommend this place to anyone. The only reason for the two stars is the fact that the food is actually pretty good. But you can find the same at Cracker Barrel or Kelleys country cooking. read more

I don't frequent Pearland and aside from Killeans many restaurants I was at a loss on where to go. The sign at Busy Bee states it's a family tradition since 1936, I'm sold. Soon as you walk in there's a huge cooler full of pies, so far so good. Our waitress was friendly with a great smile. We ordered the ribeye dinner and famous chicken fried steak. The ribeye dinner can feed two people if not starving and it was very good. We chose the small chicken fried steak and it was equally as good. We were shocked at the quality and value of our meal. Finally ate at Busy Bee Cafe, which I've passed by numerous times over the years. Totally met and exceeded all expectations. Given the dominance of national chains in the area, was refreshing to see a local mom & pop with roots going back several decades. However, food at old places often reflect neglect from ownership changes over time. NOT the case with Busy Bee! High quality ingredients, delicious cooking, large portions, and a number of menu items that are authentic/Southern and HARD to find these days! (especially at all the chains). I was drawn to this place because of the cute name and the cute way that it looks. We walked in and were seated right away but we didn't get any kind of service for about another 25 minutes. We were literally a minute away from getting up and walking away until a waitress finally came to take our drink orders. It wasn't overly busy, but maybe they were short staffed. If that was the case then I wish that they would have at least acknowledged our presence and assured us that they would be with us shortly. Besides that, the food was okay.
