It was a decent breakfast, but their menu is misleading. If you offer certain foods and they're only available certain days, please specify that on your menu! If I were a mind reader, I'd be rich and seeking breakfast in Hawaii or Fiji or something. It's annoying to get my hopes up, only to learn that there are all kinds of exceptions. The cinnamon roll was just ok. It was too sweet for me, and like another reviewer mentioned, it didn't seem remotely fresh. The hash browns, scrambled eggs and bacon were all ok, but there's definitely better places to have breakfast in the Greater Houston area. My server was nice enough, but it was a bit irritating trying to get her attention while she was chatting with another customer that she obviously knew. I totally get wanting to chat, but she pretty much abandoned me at one point, and part of my order was wrong. Sigh. Since I don't go to that part of Pearland often AT ALL, I doubt I'll go back. Baby Barnaby's is my favorite breakfast spot, and it's much closer to me. read more

This place was recommended to me by a friend. I'm never in Pearland, but had a free evening to spend around this part of the world. I expected a small town cafe w/ down home favorites, and that's what I got. It wasn't very busy, but I was probably ahead of the crowd. I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and corn casserole. Let me just say, whatever this corn casserole thing is - TRY IT. It's amazingly delicious. Basically, a corn fritter. Delicious. I should have asked for more. The potatoes were standard diner fare, nothing special. The chicken fried steak was large and obviously hand battered. No frozen, Sysco special here! The steak was decent, but it was fried to a crisp. So crispy it was almost inedible. I did have the gravy on the side, had it been on top, it might have softened up the crust a bit. Staff was attentive and friendly - no unnecessary hovering, no mindless small talk. Take my order - bring my food - and leave me to chow down. That's how I like it. So, I love small cafes and this place was close to my mother's house and had decent reviews. I couldn't decide between three and four stars and decided that because the staff was great, I'd give four. This is not a place I'll ever crave or call "gourmet", that's for sure, but the food was good and the pie, even better. Now the food selection wasn't great and I was confused by some of the entrees. They had a small variety so I ended up getting breakfast. They had a "build your own breakfast" which came with two eggs, your choice of meat and either hash browns, grits or biscuits and gravy. I opted for eggs over medium, bacon, biscuits and gravy and hashbrowns. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was crisp. I wasn't in love with my biscuits and gravy as the cream gravy was watery and flavorless. The hashbrowns tasted frozen and I didn't care for those either. My sister had the chicken fried steak and the brown gravy that accompanied it was salty and straight from a can. I LOVED the pie. They have the best chocolate creme I've ever tried and their Dutch Apple is to die for. We got some to go and I caught myself mindlessly eating it at 3 in the morning. Absolutely delicious. Overall, I'd be back for breakfast and pie and the friendly atmosphere. The bathroom needs work and I didn't enjoy the gravy that accompanied the chicken friend steak at all. read more

Second time coming here, I was not impressed. It was great the first time so I was surprised. I got scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns and biscuts and gravy. The biscuts were soggy on the bottom and had clearly been reheated. The eggs were overcooked and rubbery and the sausage was probably frozen, it tasted that way. I'm a big fan of small diners with a classic style and atmosphere. This place pulled me in with its location right next to the train tracks, and the look inside. It is always empty though. Kind of a dying restaurant with all the other places to eat around it. Although the menu had a large variety of food to choose from, I was not too pleased with the taste or quality. Looks like the cooks have gotten a little sloppy. There seems to be a lot of messing around behind the counter. Less than profession staff working here. I ate here twice, giving it a chance for redemption, and I think I'm done. Give it a try at least. read more

This place is gross. The food is all reheated. The cinnamon roll everyone said to try tasted like sweet plastic with an overwhelming flavor of old non-stick spray. I didn't think it was possible to make bacon have no flavor: this bacon had no flavor. It was actually precooked bacon, that they decided to cook again (and burn). The biscuits were stale, lukewarm, non-stick spray flavored hockey pucks. Met a friend for lunch. Gave it another try. Thought maybe they were having an off day when I went before. The mashed potatoes are instant. What self-respecting restaurant can't boil and smash real potatoes? I give up. I haven't eaten instant potatoes since I was a poor college student, and no way am I paying someone to serve it to me. Apparently these bees are too busy to make real food. Precooked bacon? Instant potatoes? And I'm sure a box had a hand in those cinnamon rolls- no way a restaurant buys precooked bacon (that they then cook) and then makes cinnamon rolls from scratch. Skip this place and go to Whataburger if you need a fast cinnamon roll that badly. read more

My family & I have lived in Pearland over 20 years & we always passed by this place & today we finally had the chance to visit it. We got greeted with a friendly smile by all the staff & was told to sit where ever we liked. Julie was our server she was very attentive & our drinks & coffee were full at all times. This place was great. I stopped in here the other day between shifts at my job to get a late lunch. I ordered the turkey sandwich which had tons of Turkey delicious Swiss cheese and I got it tested it was wonderful. it makes me think this place but I found out that it was not one but that the staff get that question all the time LOL. Waitress says "give us a sec we'll clean off a table" another what seemed to be 4 minutes pass by no one is cleaning a table. Another waitress says "sit anywhere". While we walk around looking for a table then staff scramble to wipe a table. My gut said leave then; but we didn't. Cheese sticks were never dropped. My salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, yesterday's tomatoes and white onion with about 6 croutons. Not impressed at all. Staff are busy tending to tables, but you sense the un-organization. 3 diff waitresses helped us not too sure which one was ours. No sign of a manager or lead person. No sign of fresh food. I would go again just for the corn casserole. It looks like baked slop and there's no secret spice or anything really special about it. It just tastes really good. I couldn't get enough of it. I found this place on yelp.. My bestfriend was in town from Virginia, we wanted somewhere to eat that was open late. We saw the country fried steak which looked so delicious, we were sold. It's far into Pearland, this place is a gem. The food was excellent, Andrea was our server and she was awesome very friendly. It serves all-day breakfast, with a pretty extensive menu, and we were impressed. Definitely not a fancy place, but the food is good and the portions are huge. I had the Western omelet (they serve with toast or biscuits, hashbrowns or grits), and it was perfectly cooked and full of veggies. I've seen some complaints on here about the service, but we had no problems, and our waitress was attentive and friendly. Just finished having breakfast with my girlfriend and 15 month old daughter at Busy Bee's cafe and it was exceptional. I had the breakfast biscuit, my girlfriend had eggs, sausage and pancakes and our daughter ate off our plates. My biscuits were clearly from scratch, the sausage gravy was perfect and the country potatoes were cooked/seasoned perfectly. My daughter devoured the biscuits and gravy and as my fellow southerners can attest to that's a spiritual right of passage to us (even teared up a little). Honestly the best breakfast I've had in a very long time. I wish I could remember our waitresses name but she was the perfect mix of southern hospitality and efficiency. The waitress staff were arguing with each other and all were obviously having a bad day. 3. I received the wrong meal and when I asked the waitress to take it back, the person in the kitchen fussed so loud I could hear her all the way at my table. I went up to the counter and told the cook that it was so rude to talk about customers and that we could hear everything she said. She kept right on mouthing off HAHA. 4. When I got the new plate the food was tasteless, no seasoning was used on anything. We paid our bill and simply left. I am not one of these rude reviewers that is overly critical and leaves only negative reviews. This is, in fact, my first bad review. Oh my, the food is delicious! Big portions. I got the Hamburger steak with fried squash/zucchini and carrots it was great! My dad got meatloaf, we didn't hear him the whole meal, everyone else had chicken fried steak they loved it. The brown gravy is really good, lots of flavor. The desserts were mediocre at best but still very good. All our meals were $7.99 plus drinks and desserts(we got lunch special). I would for sure come back here. read more
