Great place to take your family in a nice day. It is outdoor. It is on the dock and the scenery is beautiful. The seating gets filled up quickly. We had a wait for a little bit. We were a group of 4 adults and a child. You had to place your order first and then you get seated. We ordered fried flounder platter, fried shrimp platter and fried oyster platter. Glad to see this place has been discovered and is thriving. Now, on to some management issues: Clam Chowder served without any clams. Couple potatoes. Zero clams. Either stock it up or train staff how to stir and scoop. Quahogs, "stuffies". Served undercooked and greasy. Couple more minutes under broiler solves this problem. Fried whole clam bellies. Served cold. Unacceptable at $27 to not drop a serving of clams in the fryer to order. A Seafood dinner here runs $60. Stick to your formula Butler's and be sure to get it done right and consistently. A little better training and kitchen management should be an easy fix. read more

Brought a group of 8 people and - it was stunning! There was only a bit of a crowd (Sunday - with a fair going on further Main St) but there was still some waiting to order and get seated - but not all that much. I'd say be a little mindful since the place at is peak can probably be a mad house - so when you're done chowing down - let those waiting for seating get their chance - as opposed to lingering around. Everyone basically got a lobster roll with an additional crab roll, spicy shrimp roll and burger. Everything came out quickly and the food was delicious. Lobster roll is super fresh - not too much mayo or celery and great ratio of lobster to bread as well. Fries are great. And sitting watching the water with a beer isn't bad either. It's kind of pricey (30$ per person it ended up being - but nearly everyone got a cab of beer) but I've been to a few "seafood shack" places by the water and sometimes the food their offering just isn't worth the price tag and they sometimes don't accommodate the tables either - is kind of like a waiting service but also not really lol - half a waiting service - but to me with the food being great and the managing of the tables - to me is worth the price. What a find. Nestled in the Marina's of Manorhaven, Butler's Flat is an excellent clam shack overlooking Manhasset Bay. Their outside only deck is nicely done. The staff welcomes you as soon as you step up to the window and their beer menu is terrific. Did I mention that they have seafood too? My fried oysters were very good. Perfectly cooked with a tasty breading. One reason they didn't get 5 stars is that the order only had 5 oysters (see picture). Also, the cole slaw had no dressing and tasted like plain cabbage. A casual clam shack off the beaten path, Butlers Flat is a diamond in the ruff. There are tables on a dock overlooking The bay and a shack where you order your food from. Once your food is ready, they call your name and you get your food. The seafood is fresh and locally sourced. I had baked scallops, which where delicious. My mom got a lobster roll which she said was delicious as well. Both orders came with a generous side of French fries and the scallops also had a side of coleslaw. The positives: Amazing location, friendly and relatively prompt service and rather tasty food. Oh and did I mention the location? Can't ask for a better view of Manhasset Harbor. Decent beer selection and prices for anything other than a lobster roll is reasonable. The negatives: Parking in the lot is bad, since it is an active marina. You have to park on the street if spots are available. Getting a table sucks, there is no line and you kind of have to wait for a table to open up and then race someone else to it. Yes!!! Lobster rolls on the north shore. I'm so glad I found this spot. It's so low key and right on the water. Plenty of parking as it shares the parking lot with the Marina. The food is really good. They post the location of where the seafood comes from. You might not think it's a big deal but it's a big deal. Great view and great food. I went during the height of the pandemic last summer and wasn't sure what to expect. The tables were spread far apart and sanitized after each use. When ordering food we ordered from one window and picked up the food from another when it was ready. We felt that everything was safe. We ordered lobster rolls and they were every bit as delicious as we heard they would be. On top of that the view can't be beat. We were in Glen Cove and had a need for a summer treat! Got there about 10min before they opened so easy to get an umbrella table on a Saturday. Lobster roll was so good. No mayo. Butler's Flat remains as the best spot in town for seafood. While the menu can be limited, everything is fresh and thoughtfully prepared. I especially love the new system of requesting customers not occupy a table until after they ordered. During my last visit there was someone enforcing this rule and it really helped keep everyone rotating through the seating so that just as someone finished someone else could grab a spot as their food came out. I still recommend showing up at opening time to guarantee a spot in the shade. This year they seem to have added more umbrellas so that's super helpful. I hope they can add more tables next year. I always get bummed out when October comes around because I know this means it's almost the end of another season for Butler's Flat. That won't stop me from squeezing in a few more tacos and lobster rolls. Also - the fries are really good! read more

Butler's Flat is a great little dining spot right on the water. They have a limited menu but who cares? It really is all about the oysters or lobster rolls. Seating is abysmal. Come to terms with that. And if you ARE lucky and find an open table, chances are you're sitting facing the sun and will quickly regret your "good" fortune. In the end, none of this matters. Everyone comes here for the lobster rolls. I give them additional points for having creative options in terms of diet beverages also. You aren't relegated to the Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi hell and can a Diet Blackberry soda if you're feeling bold. Ordering is done at a little walk up window and people are stacked behind you so try to figure out your order and get it right. If you have to go back up for any reason you will live on the Island of regret. Despite the zoo-like (at times) ordering process, I give the staff here points for keeping it cool and chill. Even when the line is long I've never seen anyone behind the register or serving food with an attitude. Everyone is relaxed. Families come with small kids, older couples dine at the picnic-style tables... this is outdoor dining. Own it and appreciate that when you get a lobster roll it isn't even chintzy. Even the French fries are generously proportioned. I've been back here multiple times. The place is very nice itself since its outdoors and by the marina. Beautiful view. But the food wasn't the best. Went around 1pm and they were already sold out of the spicy shrimp roll. Ended up ordering. The lobster roll and scallop roll. The lobster roll was alright, not the best but eatable. The scallop roll tasted right too but they only gave 3 scallop and its didnt even fill the roll. Yelp brought my friend and I here as we searched seafood in the Port Washington area. This hidden place was PACKED with people. We finally saved ourself seats with a family who were waiting on their food, as we waited for our name to be called. The food was very good, but a bit overpriced for the portions. They should extend the seating so the people on line are not hovering over you as you eat. It was a beautiful atmosphere right on the water, although very hot.
