I needed a nice quiet lowkey spot just for a quick lunch that had adequate outdoor seating, and I just happened to look up cafes in upland and this gem popped up. Upon walking inside, the girl behind the counter was friendly and let us know to come up to the register to order whenever we were ready so my mom and I took a few moments to browse through the menu and baked goods. I ordered an iced matcha honey latte and breakfast burrito with turkey sausage, and my mom got a pecan bar and fish tacos which was a favorite according to the menu as well as my burrito. I asked if we should wait inside for our order or if we could go ahead and sit outside, and they said it was perfectly fine to grad our seat outside and that they have a speaker to announce my name when the order is ready. Indoor seating was available but we preferred to be outside. They had metal tables and chairs out front, but we decided not to sit out there since the sun was beating down and there didn't seem to be any unbrellas at the tables. We went to the back seating area behind the building where they had picnic bench tables and we still noticed that there were no umbrellas, but there were the umbrella stands under the tables. I just requested to have one brought out if it was possible and they sure did. Food was delicious and I def do love my breakfast burritos. My mom enjoyed her fish tacos and actually ended up being full after just one taco and her side salad, but she does get full easily. She also liked the pecan bar as it wasn't too too sweet as compared to other really sweet pecan desserts. I devoured my burrito and I loved that jalapeños were included in it, but surprised that it actually didn't have a spice. The iced matcha honey latte didn't have too much of a matcha flavor and wasn't sweet from the honey either. It was fine and I finished all of it, but it just tasted a bit "watered down" (I did have it with whole milk) or maybe just way too mild for my tastebuds. I just like to be able to taste that strong matcha flavor. Cream Cheese Banana Bread - Dense bar with walnut, I usually don't like the texture but it was made well. Bomb! Can't believe it took me so long to try this place. I had the Green Eggs & Ham! It was a French baguette topped with eggs, pesto, prosciutto and arugula! So so delicious. The prosciutto was a little salty for my taste, but everything else was perfect!! And so many tater tots! Perfectly crispy. The hot mocha was good as well. Great sweetness level and a good amount of chocolate flavor. I also bought an Asian Salad for my lunch later on that day (so I wouldn't have to leave work later on) and that was AMAZING. It was quite spicy for my tastes, so it's something to note for those who can't handle the heat like me! The breakfast burrito was a beast of a thing. It was very filling and quite tasty, I appreciated the amount of eggs that were inside it. The avocado toast came on a nice thick slice of challah bread and a side of tater tots! This toast was one for champions, it didn't come on a tiny sliver of bread like the ones you see on instagram. Also, do not forget the cookies! So happy to have found Butter Cafe! It's so close to home so that's definitely a plus. My husband and I would drive by here all the time and I've been wanting to come. We've tried it out a few times now and love it. My husband always gets the Lolokoi French Toast, which tastes amazing. I always try something different. My first time I ordered the Eggs Benedict which wasn't bad. Second time got the Kalua Pork Benedict and I wasn't crazy about the pork patty. Most recent time I ordered to go and got the avocado toast which was good, but I felt there was just too much stuff on it. I also always get bacon which is just delicious and I'm a huge fan of their coffee. The butterproof is so so good and I've ordered it iced one time which they usually don't do, but it was a hot day and I wanted something cold. I think their French Toast is the go to and what I would most likely order from now on, or just some coffee. The inside is spacious and clean and there's outside seating as well. This place gets really busy on the weekends so I'd come early. There's a nice man who works here that always asks if we need water, he's always so friendly. I've been here 3 times within the past 2 months and never had any issues finding a spot. Masks are worn when inside. Social distancing is enforced with the tables being spread apart. Bathrooms are open for use and are clean. I've tried their breakfast and lunch items, specialty drinks and pastries. Lunch sandwiches are by far my favorite, but don't get me wrong the breakfast burrito was huge and delicious too. The lemon cornbread had a texture that I really liked it and it wasn't too sweet. The drinks weren't the best but it wasn't bad. The service is great. Employees are friendly and nice. Guest #1- Kahlua pork hash plate and Coffee: IMO, terrible tasting coffee. I added about 10 half-and-halfs and 5 sugar packets, which didn't make a dent in making it taste better. I did not enjoy the country gravy served on Kahlua hash, it was ok, but not great. I would have liked the pork (or sausage) to be cooked in the gravy. The hash is only Kahlua pork (which was pretty good) on rice. I ordered my eggs over easy (and cooked perfectly) and they were served on white rice. I expected more of a hash with some spices, cooked all together with rice or potatoes. The coffee was not very good either. Guest #2- Biscuits and Gravy: It was very plain, the gravy would have been better as sausage gravy. The biscuits were nice, the gravy was blah. I've had Butter Cafe & Bakery bookmarked for the longest time, and I finally went on a brunch date with my boyfriend to try it out. We ordered the Butter Loco Moco, Lilikoi French Toast, and a cafe au lait and purchased a blueberry cornbread, a strawberry ricotta cake, and an orange, olive oil cake to-go. The Butter Loco Moco did not taste like a typical Hawaiian Loco Moco as the gravy had a strong peppery flavor. This dish was very rich and savory, so we were glad to have some coffee and water to go with it. The Lilikoi French Toast seemed unique to me since it was served with passion fruit curd. The portion was huge, and the challah bread was very soft. Surprisingly, the french toast was not overly sweet, but we could not finish the entire portion.
