Empress is our favorite spot to go to for authentic Chinese cuisine. New fusion & modern spots are good but sometimes you just need the OG thing. Didn't take many photos but our favorites to order are the pork & chive, shrimp & chive, shu mai, roast duck, and Chinese broccoli. The fried noodles and pork belly were also good. There are many carts that rotate around but they also have a menu to order from, and one that has pictures for easy ordering. Parking is very small out front and there seemed to be only 1 handicap spot. Inside there are many tables that can hold big families of 6.

What a wonderful and fast experience for Dim Sum! They just added a ton of new items to the menu like chicken shui mai and taro buns! The servers were so helpful in picking out our items! The ambiance was relaxed and homey which is perfect for families. Highly recommend going at open since the restaurant becomes packed shortly after. We will be going back!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! reasonable price for dim sum, the atmosphere really felt like a traditional dim sum restaurant which i feel like is a dying art nowadays (the carts, the hanging ducks, etc.). they were setting up for a wedding party when we went, and the workers were very nice and apologetic about it (even though it wasnt a problem for us at all!) i wasnt expecting a dim sum spot in denver to blow all my expectations out of the water, especially since i think living in socal has completely spoiled me in that regard, but this place was great!!! i need to come back to try their roast pork!!!

Comfortable, inauspicious ambience; friendly, attentive service, authentic Cantonese dim sum and comfort fav

Pretty solid dim sum place. Lost pictures but here are the leftovers! Very good selection and variety if you have a few people joining. Plenty of parking and they have their own lot. Came in right after the carts went away but they serve dim sum all day off the menu. Ordered quite a bit as you always do with dim sum but cannot go wrong! Some items are okay but most are pretty solid. I like this place better than Star Kitchen! Service was clean, older restaurant, and not the cleanest

If you want cart based dim sum in a restaurant with no frills that reminds you of the traditional dim sum houses in China then this is one of the top spots in Denver to come to. They wheel around your traditional dim sum carts with the basics. Everything is fresh and tasty as would be expected from an establishment like this, and I would choose this one over the competing ones based on consistent quality.

Adding an update after recently placing a to-go order of dim sum for 30 people. I went in person to pick up a menu then called about two weeks in advance to place the order. They were super helpful with confirming whether I'd ordered enough food and were happy to arrange pick up time to be when they opened. Everything was neatly packaged and they even proactively helped load them in the car. Would definitely order from them again!

4.5 stars! We travel over 25 min for dim sum at Empress. We've only gotten dishes from the dim sum carts, so this review is specifically about that. Dishes I won't list all the dishes we got because the beauty of dim sum is the extremely wide variety of things you can eat in one sitting. All the standard dim sum fare is great - shumai, bbq pork buns, har gow, radish cake, etc. I have to give a specific shoutout to their stir fried rice noodle rolls - wow they make it so delicious, cooked perfectly, and not too salty. Service Almost all of our interactions were very pleasant. Carts started rolling by within minutes of sitting down and they were great at offering recommendations to get us started. This is super helpful for folks not familiar with the offerings. I have to knock down to 4.5 because the service can be a bit persistent at times. We need to repeat ourselves that we don't want a dish, sometimes more than 2 times before they move on. Space The restaurant has so much space. Despite dining at lunch on a weekend, there was lots of space not just for seating (we had no wait), but for the carts to move around without interfering with our space.

Federal Blvd is home to a host of great, local Asian restaurants, especially dim sum. If you're in the mood for dim sum, check out Empress! The service is quick, food is fresh, and prices are reasonable. Some of my favorites include: pork shumai, steamed bbq buns, any of the shrimp dumplings, shrimp rolled noodle, turnip cakes, and sticky rice. Some dumplings they'll even fry up right in front of you! Dim sum and a show? There's nothing better.

Ah I always crave a good Cantonese Style dinner and this meal was delicious! We ordered all our favorite go to dishes: Ginger Scallion Crab, Green Beans with Pork, Roast Duck, Cantonese Style Chow Mein, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, and Potstickers! I enjoyed the Green Beans dish. I was so excited to see chung choy in it, which added to the flavor profile. The combination Chow Mein was perfectly crispy with plentiful amounts of tender meat and veggies. Ginger Scallion Crab and Shrimp with Lobster sauce was what we expected and executed well. Some of the end pieces of duck were a bit salty but overall was very good. I'd love to try the Peking Duck next time with the buns and the crispy roast pork. I felt the cost of the food was very reasonable with the amount of food given. I love the fact that you can order dim sum at any time. But makes it hard to choose what to order because everything sounds good. The servers were so nice and had very fun personalities, always with a smile on their faces. They made our meal really enjoyable and did a fairly good job keeping our water cups filled. The restaurant was spacious and appeared tidy. We went there on a Saturday night and there were people setting up for likely a wedding event. I'm sure Empress is a place where many Asians have their reception meals and events. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy and was happy to see that they had their own parking lot. We were only visiting, but we'll definitely be back to try more items in the future and would recommend others to give it a try!

I never write reviews but this was the most disappointing meal I've had in my entire life. I spent around $100 for some of the worst food ever. The Hong Kong noodles were as crunchy as raw packaged ramen. The egg custard buns had such a runny inside they spilled everywhere. The shrimp fried rice is soggy and has very questionable shrimp pieces. The crab Rangoons were soggy and burnt at the same time. The dumplings were the least disappointing. Overall the meal was very disappointing and I won't order here again. I have ordered in the past and remember it being good but this time was horrible. It has made both me and my boyfriend feel sick to our stomachs.

We went here for dinner on Christmas Eve and everything was fantastic. I had the crispy fried tofu and it was one of the best tofu dishes I've ever had. The tofu almost melts in your mouth after you bite into it. We also had tea and rice and broccoli. Service was very good. The restaurant is casual and the prices are good. Recommend!

That's a whole duck? I've had many. Pathetic.

This is seriously a "whole Peking duck" for $60? Yeah, no, I'll be passing on this going forward.

In my opinion this is the best Chinese food in Denver. They always deliver the food hot and fast! We order here very often.

Shrimp Shumai: this was the first item I took out of the bag and disappointment was the first feeling I felt. I should've trusted my gut when I saw the name of the dish but the photo didn't match. I based it off the photo and what was delivered was not what was in the photo. Instead, I got these small, nickel sized diameter "dumplings" that are straight up mushy. Xiao long bao: maybe it was delivery issue, but all dumplings were broken, and the soup leaked. Aside from this, the wrapping is thick especially at the top where the twist is. The filling is also mushy but better than the shrimp Shumai. I still wouldn't get this again. Chili wontons: again, maybe a delivery issue but there wasn't a lot of chili oil since it leaked out of the bag. Aside from that, the wrapper was thick. Filling was meh. Mapo tofu: just okay but again, very hard to mess up mapo tofu in general imo. Lacks meat. Probably the best thing out of what I ordered unfortunately
