Super good! I prefer this dim sum over Star Kitchen. Standouts include the salt and pepper tofu, har gow (crystal shrimp dumplings), sugarcane shrimp and lotus leaf rice. The xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) had a great flavor, but not as juicy as I would have liked. (My favorite soup dumplings in Denver are at Dating Yumy.) The restaurant is more spacious than Star Kitchen and I like the atmosphere better. They were a variety of carts going around on a Sunday afternoon. It didn't take long to get seated for 4. We were very full, and ended up spending $20 per person. Overall, this is a really solid choice for good dim sum in Denver! read more

My absolute favorite dish and what I would totally recommend was the salt and pepper tofu! Hot tip: make sure it's freshly heated or have them heat it for you! The tofu will melt in your mouth! It's soooo tasty! Also, really enjoyed their soup dumplings, shumai, taro puffs, sesame red bean balls, sugar cane shrimp, bao, and shrimp dumplings. We had lotus leaf rice and I wasn't personally too crazy for it. The sausage was a bit too sweet inside. But, if you're a sweet sausage lover, this could be for you! There's this awesome little spot in Excelsior that you should definitely check out. There's a bunch of Filipino options, but also Chinese. It's certainly a local, hole in the wall restaurant. You can get full meals without spending much! Most of the meals on the menu are priced between $5-7, only recently going up. Keep in mind that they only do takeout and they only accept cash! I opted for a super popular Filipino meal, Tapsilog. I also decided to try their pork chop, which seemed to be the go-to option for many people. All the meals come with a fried egg, tomatoes, and garlic fried rice, which will certainly fill you. The pork chop was covered in a crazy amount of deep-fried goodness. I just found S S A on my trip to Costco, what a great surprise. The dim sum served @ Super Star is stellar. Everything I ordered, shumai, hargow, chicken lollipops, fried dumplings, and sparerib bites in black bean sauce were fire... My food was served hot or sent back for a quick warm up by super efficient, and friendly servers that actually made you feel like they were there to help make your dining experience pleasurable, ( this is not the case at pretty much all the dim sum joints that I frequent in Philly, the food is good but that's about it)...What a nice atmosphere to eat in. S S A seems a little more pricey than other places that I go to (in Philly), but that will not deter me from making this place one of my favorite Denver dim sum destinations. read more

There does need to be more staff. It was crazy to see one person doing both to go orders and taking people to their seat, one person cleaning and refilling drinks and getting utensils, one person getting orders from the kitchen and essentially being the second hand for every job position. Staff does get angry and it does make the customer feel uncomfortable to hear their arguments and even more uncomfortable when you can understand them. Im from Southern California so I have high Asian food standards but this is a solid and likely the best option for dim sum in Denver. I've been here twice with friends. Service was fine, totally what you'd expect from dim sum. It can get loud and overwhelming when the place fills up, but I've never had a problem waving down the carts that I wanted to order from. The best tip I have is: Get the salt and pepper tofu. It's SO good. After you've sufficiently stuffed yourself with dim sum, you can wander over to the Asian market next door and walk off some calories. read more

The place was so disgustingly dirty we walked out within a few minutes of being seated. If this is acceptable for the front of the house, imagine the kitchen. Stopped in on a busy July 4th after the line at our fav Star Kitchen was just too long. We'd been here some years ago and it was good so we headed over today. We walked past trash littering the outside sidewalk and overflowing trash can. Upon entering we see the restaurant floors have obviously not been vacuumed or cleaned in many days with crumbled napkins, food, and other debris all over the floor and it's only noon. No way this place was cleaned prior to opening. A server walks by with filthy pants. We are seated at a sticky table with food on the floor. We can see the dim sum at the table a foot from us that is swimming in grease. My appetite is completely gone. We get up and quickly exit. I took a large group of friends here today. I think we were 22 people. The staff sat us and handled our large group extremely well. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Another family gathering, another meal at SuperStar. This is a restaurant that has been serving Dim sum in the Denver area for sometime now. It has been our usual spot for a get together for our family for a long time. They offer a variety of Chinese Dim Sum items that one would expect from any good Dim Sum restaurant. The offers include shrimp dumplings (some of the best anywhere), sticky rice with stuffing in lotus leaves (a bit on the small side), tofu wraps, shrimp crepes, pork spareribs in black bean sauce, siu mai (an item that has been vastly improved from the previous owner), taro dumplings, turnip cakes, egg tarts, bbq pork buns, just to name a few. They also offer pan fried noodles with a variety of vegetables and meats that my wife always want to get. There might be other restaurants serving better Dim Sum in Denver, but only this place offers ample parking spaces due to it being situated in a shopping center. You never have to worry about not finding a parking space. And while waiting for a table, you can walk around an Asian supermarket nearby to get some fresh vegetables and fruits that might not be offered by your local King Soopers or Safeway. Give this place a try and you might like it. BTW, they are serving Hong Kong style Dim Sum so instead of offering items in a menu, they use push carts to wheel the delicacies around all the tables. All are yummy here -- baked buns are often in high demand so sometimes there is a wait to get them, but that is usually the case at any dim sum place. Lately, like all other restaurants during this pandemic, they appear to be short staffed so often the person pushing one dim sum cart will leave to go grab orders from the kitchen or do other various tasks. The food was good, that I have no issue, the server was rude and only gave the food never came back. the whole restaurant was empty so it's not like she was busy at all. it was overpriced and for myself and my 2 teens they charged us $30 over what that amount was supposed to be. we didn't even get glasses they gave us the red disposable cups to drink out of. and on the walk out the most disgusting evil hearted guy said we didn't leave them a tip. We've been coming off and on for years and always come when we are in the area. We were just there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Tbh I'm a bit taken aback by what happened. My husband is Deaf and he was confused by the cost of something that we thought was on the trolly -- some bok choy -- and he thought it was more expensive than it ought to be because the portion was so small. The bill said the charge was for the kitchen, but he thought it was just a smaller size from the trolly, not a full sized dish. Since he is Deaf, he has a very expressive face and the person running the desk took offense to how he looked. I was interpreting for him, just repeating what my husband was saying, and the person we were dealing with just blew up and said "never come back." I feel frustrated because I was just interpreting and was remaining polite about it all. I never raised my voice. I wasn't at all angry. My husband just wanted to understand why it was more than he thought it would be and the conversation went from 0 to 100 in five seconds flat. They took the bok choy off our tab, which wasn't what we were wanting to have happen at all. We knew we had bok choy, but thought we had just a smaller sized portion, the one that comes off the trolley. We'll respect them and not come back, but I still feel like this could have handled differently. There was a huge langue barrier and something went wrong. Again, lovely restaurant, but if you are Deaf, I'd say don't come here -- unless there is some sort of sensitivity training for the staff. And if your customers are being respectful and just trying to figure out what happened, because they think there is a discrepancy, don't blow up at them. It was just very, very unprofessional. ** small update at the behest of my husband: the price they charged is for the bok choy was $12.50. My husband thought there was no way that was the correct price because the meat plates we had from the trolley were about $6.00 and the bok choy portions were about that size too. Then later once again when other people were getting the shrimp dumplings and I asked for shrimp dumpling and they said, "No, later," I asked the new couple sitting next to us who had been served my coveted shrimp what it was called (Thinking maybe it wasn't even shrimp after all and the joke was on me.) And my neighbor said, "It's a shrimp dumpling." Needless to say, I never got my "shrimp dumplings." 2. Cart ladies at times don't even want to show you what's in the steam baskets. Example: lady parks cart in front of our table and stares at us. Me: what is it? Her: waves at steam baskets Me: what is inside ? Her: Reluctantly opens the baskets Me: what are they? Beef ? Pork? Her: Loosely describes things I didn't want. Me: Okay, no thank you Her: You just say, "No no no" Me: Thats how this works - You offer me items and if I want them, I say, "Yes," and if I don't, I say, "No." It was petty. The steamed pork bun, har gao, shu mai, soup dumplings, etc were all delicious. While I'm not used to spending over $100 on dim sum, I don't get it often right so it's worth it when I do get to have it. They are busy but not packed. Servers were friendly BUT there were only three dim sum carts in the whole place. Other dim sum restaurants such as Star Kitchen and Emperor's (on 120th Ave) have at least 6-8 carts at any given weekend circling the restaurant! And those three carts were mostly circulating on the right-hand side of the restaurant. They hardly ever made it to the left-hand side of the restaurant. Patrons where we were sitting at were frustrated. Servers realized that fact and did their best to accommodate the patrons on the side were were sitting at. This needs to improve.
