Cute place in Queen Anne. We went for lunch. One of the best bahn mi sandwiches I've ever had. Came with fries, a delicious sauce for the fries and some pho broth that I dipped my sandwich in. They looked like they had a mostly full bar, a couple TVs on the walls, and really cute atmosphere. It was hard to find a spot nearby that would be open on Christmas and lucky this restaurant was open. The service was I very friendly, we got a table for two right the way, and food arrived quick. We got some fresh rolls, which were really huge. I really liked the dipping sauce, seems like they put some picked radish and carrots as toppings in addition to peanuts. Also they give you 4 pieces of rolls, whole most places, in my experience, only give you 2 ([insert mind-blown guy meme]) The pho was delicious but, I thought, could be a little bit more fatty. The food and flavor of this place is nice but the service really sucks thus the low stars. First off, we were seated right by the bathroom which was not appealing watching people pass us each time they had to use the bathroom. This is not contributing to the low rating but it should tell you we were furthest from the kitchen and maybe contributed to also being ignored. It took a bit to order our food or getting water. When they seated us they brought the cups and chopsticks with napkins but no carafe of water. The people who were seated next to us and after got their water with their cups, chopsticks, and napkins. When we did order I asked if we could get some water and they brought it with our drink order. Our food came and like I said I really like their food but once our food was dropped off we got very little attention. One of us wanted chili sauce so we did get that. Trying to get their attention was really hard. We needed more water and our carafe was empty but it too much effort to get their attention. I also wanted to order dessert so I just walked over to the kitchen and asked them for both. We finished most of our food and our table of dishes could have been removed and I thought surely they would remove before before the dessert came. Nope. The guy who dropped off the dessert took some of the dirty plate he could carry but left the others and didn't bother coming back to remove. So we ate our dessert with rest of dirty plates. See pics. Then we had to get the check and again felt a bit of effort to get. They brought it and I went to front to pay. The food is extremely fast, the service is great, and it's a fun place to enjoy some decent food! For what it is, I think it's a bit pricey, but I guess everything is now. We ordered several different things to try a variety. Probably my least favorite was the sampler, especially for $30. Maybe $20 and I wouldn't have thought so negative. It was fine, but just not that great. We wanted to try their fresh rolls and of course peanut sauce. The sauce was kind of runny and needed some fish sauce/more umami. I had never had Curry and Vietnamese place and did really enjoy the Chicken Ca Ri, which was also enough to have half for lunch the next day. Bun bu hue hit all the right notes flavor wise and appreciated that they provide banana blossoms on the side. Just gave it more authenticity. It was missing pork trotter and pork blood though. I spontaneously came here with a friend on a Saturday night around 8pm after Panda Fest the same day, and after finding out that the nearby Woo Bar was booked for an event. The place inside is quite fancy with the lights and decor, and the pictures of their food on their website also seem fancy as well. There is a QR code you use to look at their menu, which doesn't have pictures of the food itself. It took us a little bit to flag down a sever to take our order but this didn't detract from my experience here. As I usually do for most Vietnamese restaurants I go to the first time, I got their grilled beef short ribs rice plate. This also came with broken rice, and not every place I go to does this so I was happy in this case. Beef is flavored well without being overly done, and isn't hard to chew either. The provided soup was a great refresher, though I was surprised that their julienned carrots were also kimchi flavored. Overall, nothing too special about what I had here, since grilled beef short ribs is standard and it didn't quite stand out to me. My visit did set a pretty good baseline if I were to come back here and try some of their other dishes whenever I'm around the area, which isn't likely. read more

We went to COBA to eat and kill some time before a Kraken's game. The location is ideal and they have a decent happy hour drink menu. The drinks were good and the bartenders/servers were very pleasant and fun. So I'd go back to hangout for drinks. The food is somewhat lacking. Or at least the four different apps we got. They were all very just ok and size not worth the price. The prawns were definitely just shrimp - not even large shrimp. The shrimp in the spring roll appeared to be decent but I opened one to get the shrimp out and it was not a whole shrimp but rather a cut in half shrimp and really more like a think slice of shrimp as opposed to an actual half cut. Went to a friend's graduation on Monday, and our whole group ended up going to CÔBA as a celebratory late lunch/early dinner, linner? Anyways, our group was pretty big, about 10 people total. Wait was long but understandable for our size, and the fact many other people came here after the graduation ceremony down the street. Server was funny in a teasing kind of way, but made sure he got all our orders rights. I ordered the Cơm Sườn Bò / Grilled Short Ribs Rice Plate. It's one of my top 3 favourite Vietnamese dishes, so I'm very particular about it. The beef ribs were tasty and cooked the way I liked it. But the rice that came with it was, let's just say interesting. Most cơm tấm dishes use a long-grain rice, but this restaurant decided to use a very short-grain rice that almost resembled sushi rice. It's not bad, but I'm a big texture guy, so I thought it didn't work well with the whole plate. The egg was also strange too, never seen it formed in such a circular manner haha. That's just me nit-picking though, everything else tasted great and it came with everything you expected with the dish including the soup and side vegetables. One of my other friends (the graduate) ordered the bánh khọt, which is like a little mini Vietnamese pancake bite. It's also one of my top 3 favourite dishes, and my friend let me have a bite to try. Oh boy, I'm sad to say this was the worst bánh khọt I've had. Both my friend and I commented how dough-y it was in the middle, which is not supposed to be like that. I think they messed up this dish, it happens when you get even one proportion of ingredients wrong. Overall, most of the group liked what we had, and we had a nice time there. If you're in Queen Anne area, it's a decent option for Vietnamese food, but I rather go elsewhere like South Seattle for better Vietnamese food. read more

Decided to try Coba for their pho. There's a iPad where you can check in for waitlist. The interior is more roomier than I thought. Staff was okay - nothing that stuck out good or bad. The salt and pepper tofu could have used more seasoning as it was kind of bland. There wasn't much salt or pepper. The beef pho comes with steak and brisket. Unlike other Vietnamese shops, there's no specific pho that comes with specific meat cuts (ie no pho tai). The broth was on the bland side. My friends that came to Coba before also agreed it was more bland than usual. There's only one portion size which was pretty good but it's on the more expensive end. Overall, Coba was just okay. This Vietnamese restaurant is a good stop if you are in the area for a concert or event. It's a sport bar with lots of seatings and good for big groups. The decoration is quite nice. They have a variety of Viet dishes on the menu with different daily specials, ranging from banh mi, vermicelli bowls to rice plates. I got the daily special Com Tam which is a broken rice dishes, it comes with pork chop, shredded pork and baked egg cake. It also came with fish sauce which is on the sweeter side, my only complain was it was too little. It also came with soup on the side, which was salty but lacking flavor. Overall, the dish was quite good. It's on the pricier side for the value, but it is what I expected for the convenience of grabbing a quick bite before a show in the area. Fiance and I were hungry after wandering around Seattle Center. We were pleasantly surprised with everything. Upon walking in, we were warmly greeted and quickly seated. The vibe of the restaurant is modern yet incredibly chill. It's has just enough IG-worthy rizz without going overboard. Came here with a large group, and they were able to accommodate. My brother and I shared a bun bo hue and a Hainanese Chicken Rice which was a special that day. Both were good, but if you like it spicy, make sure to add sriracha! There were interesting sides to each dish, the kimchi from the chicken rice was so good and the bun bo hue came with what I believe was banana blossom which was new to me but a great taste. A very good rendition of it, especially given the Queen Anne area near the Seattle Center. What stole the show for me might have been the chicken congee though. I came here because it was open late and had good reviews but I don't know if it was like a staffing issue or some bad vibes going around but I had far from a good time. It took them close to ten minutes to come over and take our order, then when the food came out they just dropped it off and ran away not asking if we needed anything else. Once I waited another 5 minutes I walked up to the bar to stand there waiting for another minute or so just so I could ask for some utensils for my wife to eat. Pretty solid pho in the area. It was easy to grab a table for a weeknight dinner and the food came out pretty fast. You scan a QR code to look at the menu and they come around and take your order. Beef pho: an ok amount of meat and noodles and you can taste the spices they use in the broth Oxtail pho: got five pieces of oxtail and the oxtail was perfectly tender and went well with the soup. Also comes with thinly sliced steak. I'd probably order the oxtail over the regular beef pho next time! Enough pho for one meal, so portions aren't that big here. Overall pretty tasty read more

I was excited to try this Vietnamese spot on a chilly, wet PNW evening. It was the perfect place for some hot soup to warm me up. Apparently there was a big concert going on nearby so it happened to be packed on a weeknight. Not sure if that is normal. Had a short 5-10 minute wait and then sat down at the counter. Our host checked on me and my dining partner once but then when we weren't ready to order, he took a long time to come back. I ended up getting the oxtail pho which was soo good. The meat was a bit fatty but tender and still on the bone. The broth was so flavorful I could have drank it. Very cozy and filling! This was a really yummy spot! We found this place after being disappointed by the Bite of Seattle event nearby, and ended up eating here at around 3pm. It was surprisingly really packed at this hour, so I think it speaks to the popularity of the place. I got the charred chicken vermicelli bowl, which was so delicious! The portion sizes were extremely generous, and there was a great amount of chicken, noodles, and veggies. The chicken was seasoned really well and nice and juicy. I also liked how they put green beans on the dish too! They were also so well seasoned and delicious. Of course the nuoc mam that accompanied it tied everything together. COBA is our go-to place for good pho on cold and rainy nights. We've tried a variety of their appetizers, phos, and drinks, and have no complaints about anything. My favorite is their beef pho, and his favorite is their chicken pho. Their beef rib and duck pho are amazing too. It always comes out quick, hot, and delicious. This is my go to for chicken congee. Their congee reminds me of Chinatown and little Saigon of the 90's. The porridge is hard to find in Seattle and some of my favorite places like Green Leaf are closed. I like the fried shallots on top of the porridge and the consistency is simple and complex when I mix the egg, fried doughnut, and side soup. COBA has some really good grilled meats and Pho. I've never eaten at the restaurant in person and always had the food delivered via DoorDash. If the food tastes really good delivered after 30 minutes, imagine how good it will taste fresh. read more

I dig the vibe of this place. It very much fits the downtown night life ambiance offering some authentic and non-authentic Vietnamese cuisine that caters to westerners pretty well. I definitely do like the authentic more so and wished the demographic draws more of the Vietnamese community in more, but hey, you can't choose your neighbors. Even though I only ate here briefly, I like it. The appetizer pupu platter was quite good even though it was all mostly fried food, but that's exact I ordered so can't complain I guess. Egg rolls were solid, fries were crispy, and so were the fried wontons. Never a fan of the crab rangoon though. Alcohol was solid and works. And wait staff were all running around being quite busy, so it's a lively restaurant that gets a lot of business. Very good.
