C St. Bistro is the best little spot in Jacksonville hands down. We just moved to Northern CA and visit Medford quite often. There is rarely a trip where we don't go to Jacksonville for lunch at C St. Bistro. The outdoor setting is so perfect and the food is even better! Everything tastes so fresh and the staff is so friendly and down to earth. The pizzas are some of the best I've ever had and the wedge salad is unreal. So fresh and full of flavor. Start to finish, the service was outstanding and the waitress was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The outdoor seating was pleasant. We started off with an interesting shrimp toast. Each member of the party had different entrees. The dual lamb was a 5 with very tender generous portion of meat that was very flavorful. The salmon on a pastry puff was a 4. The salmon was perfectly done but the dish overall could have used more depth. The jerk pork was a 5. The pork was incredibly tender and the spice level was perfect. The presentation on all the plates was spectacular. There was an excellent choice of local wines to pair with any dish. Don't forget to order the outstanding fresh tomato soup. Even for a person who doesn't usually like tomato soup, it is very good. The only thing lacking in this dining experience was the limited choice of desserts, otherwise it would be a 5 star without any question. read more

This was my first visit to C Street Bistro. My daughter is visiting me and I thought she might like it. She lives in NYC, so taking her to dinner here isn't an easy bus ride. To begin, this place is utterly charming and the proprietors are very welcoming. We sat in their outdoor 'patio' and enjoyed their 'C' street salad and Brussel's sprouts, along with delicious Troon Rose wine. So far, so good. I ordered the duck confit and my daughter had the burger with balsamic, arugula and onions on the gluten free bun (yay for the gluten free choices)! we loved everything, and the service was so friendly and attentive. I've only been here 3 or 4 times but every time is amazing. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the size of the place and the lack of comfort for intimate conversations, due to the small size.. There is a patio for when the weather is good and I really like that, it's on a side street so the noise from traffic is not bad. The food is mouth-wateringly good, I've never had anything I didn't like. Tomato soup is very rich and fresh, their potatoes are amazing and their pulled pork is fabulous. I usually ask for the pulled pork sandwich without the bun or bread since I'm trying to not eat so much bread. They don't mind at all and give a hefty portion. Lunch here is not cheap, but not expensive either and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Best hamburgers ever and beautiful salads. Don't miss it. read more

Tasted like tomato paste to me personally. No tomato soup compares to Blondies Bistros soup in Grants Pass. The service was great at C street Both guys were really friendly! We were looking for a nice lunch off the Main Street. This little jewel is on C Street and is quite small. We sat on the outdoor patio although it was quite warm. Chef Paul Becking is no stranger to Celebrity Chefs or the Food Network. He's cooked for Julia Child. And his last venture, Elements in Santa Barbara, was featured on "Giada's Weekend Getaway" and Rachel Ray's "Vacation". So, enough of the hype lets get down to business. The C St. Bistro is located in what was "The Country Cottage"... An intimate location with the charm of a family kitchen. Chef Paul pays attention DETAILS. Examples of this included his Roasted Tomoato Soup - The Best I've Ever Had (Topped With Lemon Pepper Sour Cream and Olive Puree), Two Pigs and a Cow (Hamburger with Maple Bacon and Sweet Pork/ Jelly), The Bourcherie Burger (Ground to order with carmelized onions, slice tomatoes, shaved iceburg lettuce and house-made ketchup), Sea Salt & Sherry Vinegar Butter-Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, his spin on a Warm New Orleans Muffaletta - Brings me right back to the Central Grocery in New Orleans (Sicilian Bread Loaf, Capicola, Salami, and Mortadella, Topped with Melted Emmentaler and Provolone with curshed olive and pickled vegetable spread). My personal favorite is the Southeast Asian Style Braised Pork Shoulder Sandwich (His spin on the Vietnamese Ban Minh, with "Thaibama" sauce, pickled carrots, daikon radishes, seedless cucumbers, cilantro, on a honey wheat roll). C. St is open for Lunch and Brunch. His brunch menu, which I have yet to try, includes a Waffle and Duck Confit...(His spin on "Chicken and Waffles"). Leland and I went here for lunch the other day, and let me tell you: this is someplace we are going to return to, if for no other reason than to try EVERYTHING on the menu! Welp...I was expecting a 5 star service, when instead I left feeling disappointed. I had the tomato soup, which sounded tempting. Unfortunately, the consistency made the soup feel and taste more like a pasta sauce. I've had much better soup from a can. I chose to have a burger because I couldn't make my mind up on the entrees. The burger fell apart within a few bites, so I was left eating it with a fork. The onions and blue cheese were on point, so at least it was a tasty mess. The fingerlings could have been cooked just a bit longer to soften the bite. And...there was no dessert, except an ice cream sandwich...pass. The service wasn't the best, it was with a smile but very slow. I had to inquire about a refill (on water) and dessert options. They definitely love their locals, visitors not so much. read more

The Rogue Valley, and southern Oregon in general, could use more restaurants like this. Everything we have had here is amazing and has both simplicity and imagination. This was my second time at C Street, and it did not disappoint! Excellent food, friendly service, and extremely reasonable prices. Yes, the place is tiny (can't seat more than 12 inside or 12 outside). I had the pulled pork sandwich with a bistro salad. My mother had fresh orange juice and a wild mushroom quiche with salad. We ate every single delicious bite. Had a lovely conversation with the chef, Paul, who takes a lot of pride in his work, and makes sure to visit every table. Tiny, low-key labor of love from the chef, who seated us, took our order, served our food, took our payment and opened the door for us on the way out. The place is so unassuming in appearance it would be easy to overlook, but it's definitely worth seeking this place out when in Jacksonville. I've been here before and it was great. Today was a different story! Ordered the eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were rock hard. Sent it back and was told they would fix it. The second Benedict had runny egg whites, not even safe to eat. Had to send that back too. By this time my companion had just about finished her meal so there was no point in ordering something new... I was very disappointed. It's quaint and well managed, each customer feels included and taken care of in quick fashion without ever feeling rushed or misunderstood. I go to brunch regularly, so it takes something really special to wow me. I found that at C Street Bistro yesterday. The green eggs and ham bowl were the bomb. Pesto slathered on sourdough toast cut into crouton-sized piece, with carmelized onions, bacon, microgreens and two poached eggs on top. Coffee was good and strong. Chef and staff were friendly and cool. The specials also sounded really great but I had my heart set on brunch. My date and I both had a cheese burger with garlic and herb fingerling potatoes, mine was called the forager and came with Swiss cheese or provolone and wild mushrooms and truffle aoili, it was divine! One of the most satisfying burgers I've ever had. The garlic that was fried with the potatoes had crunchy little bits that burst with garlicky flavor. It was a bit spendy at $15 but I guess it's to be expected with a great chef and it being a Bistro and all. Serving size is not large, but plenty enough. Service was great, we ate outdoors on the patio and the chef came out to collect from the herb garden as we waited, much attention to detail is evident. Everything was perfect. Loved it! read more
