Refinished all the cabinets in our kitchen. Pricing is $180 for each door, panel, drawer, etc. Included is all the surrounding framing. We had 52 openings. The total price shown is before WA tax. We are very pleased with the result. This project requires that you remove everything in your kitchen. It is a great opportunity to clean everything and you should do that before the masking begins. This project requires significant effort on the homeowner's part. It took 2 days for the contractor to remove all the doors, drawer fronts, the hardware and to mask the areas that would not be painted. Painting took 1/2 day and another 1/2 day to remove all the masking and draping and to clean up. Plan on not being able to use your kitchen for at least 4 days. After the painting was done, it took about a week for the doors and drawer fronts to be returned. During this time, you can use the kitchen but everything is likely laid out on tables and counters, not in drawers and cabinets. We feel our kitchen has a completely new, more modern look. In preparing to sell my condo in 2016 I reached out to Ian for a quote to refinish the cabinets. His estimates are easy - just count the openings and multiply by his rate. Ian was more expensive than the painting companies I received quotes from - $4250 vs $3000-$3300 - but I think you can see in the photos that his work speaks for itself. He actually refinishes the wood via sanding, staining, and applying a protective clear coat whereas the painters would just slap on two coats of paint that is more prone to peel and crack in the future. The end result looks amazing. I chose Ian because he only does cabinets and he does the work himself, whereas at a painting company, I might get a kid doing it for his summer job without much experience. Our kitchen cabinets - cherry, with a moderately light, golden-honey stain -- were looking ratty after years of daily use. They were structurally solid, but no longer looked good, particularly around most of the edges, where moisture had taken a toll. We decided refinishing was the way to go, so we contacted Seattle Cabinet Renovations, and met Ian. We liked his approach to pricing, and decided the cost was reasonable, in light of all the wood surfaces he would be refinishing. He started the job when he said he would, and he finished when he said he would. I was stunned that he could do so much in a short amount of time. The cabinets now look virtually the same as they did the day they were installed. You have to look hard (and know where to look) to find traces of the various dings, etc. We're very pleased with his work. It's as though we have new cabinets. I should mention that Ian is very personable. We enjoyed having him in our home. He's also considerate, as shown by the fact that when he found a broken hinge, he replaced it without charge. Likewise, when he noticed two shelves that showed water damage (from storing cups and glasses that were not entirely dry), he repaired the shelves without charge, even though shelving was not part of the deal. My cabinets were repainted by Cabinet Renovations with an extremely poor outcome. The owner took responsibility by claiming the primer he used was bad (documented in a text thread from the owner) and repainted some of the cabinet sections, with poor outcome again. It was clear in the areas where the paint was rubbing off that the surface of the cabinets were not prepped, sanded or primed. In total, my cabinet doors were removed and touched up 4 times. I have time stamped photos documenting each step of this process, showing the damage, and showing the resulting fix. After the 3rd attempt at repair, the owner admitted that his assistant did not properly prep the cabinets. I have this in writing in text form from the owner's phone number. I gave the company one more chance to correct the problem. The cabinets were again returned to me in a poorly repainted condition. I have photo documentation of their current state showing poorly covered and uneven surfaces. Also, as a result of this company removing and replacing the cabinet doors repeatedly, the base cabinets have cracked from screws being over tightened in several places. I have attempted to communicate my dissatisfaction with the owner in 3 separate texts. Each time he said he would email me and he has not. I resulted to asking for a partial refund to have my cabinets repainted and repaired properly. I still have not heard from the owner and it has been since February 28, 2017 with no communication from him. My kitchen has been in a state of remodel for a total of 10 months because of poor workmanship and poor communication from the owner. Reported to BBB. read more
