I was recently at this establishment this past Sunday May 1 2022 and I was with my cousin. There was shortage of staff until a certain time and well my cousin wanted to sit inside. I wanted to sit outside but he wanted to watch the warriors game. I wasn't exactly settled with this place but I stayed for my cousin. So we got inside and we had been sitting for about 5 mins and I could see obviously they were backed up. Which I understand but I LITERALLY....LITERALLY looked every single person in the eye that worked there and they saw ME and didn't say ANYTHING. Even the MANAGER looked and said nothing. Usually you know, if it's super busy SOMEONE comes over and acknowledges the CLEARLY newly seated table and let's them know what's going and thank you for waiting and apologizes for the wait. So we aren't LEFT in the RUT. Nope we sat for 10 more mins. Then we said something to the manager and he came over and was super clueless. Why would you say as a manager " ohhh sorry folks I don't usually serve tables, I just manage the place so I have no idea what I'm doing...I know it sounds bad but I don't so yeah" like WTH lol then he PERSISTED on trying to sell me margaritas and was reluctant to mention the price. He asked me 4 TIMES...CLEARLY I do not want this doggone drink sir! Btw before we got served my cousin read the HORRIBLE reviews on this place and I should've listened but I got to see it for myself so lesson learned! The food was pretty good, then 40 more people came over to us asking if we needed to be served. Lol so lack of communication, lack of enthusiasm, horrible customer service. It was just so dark and cold in that atmosphere, I did NOT feel comfortable in it. It was so unwelcoming and the bartender girl was horrible too. Everyone just does a "job" and doesn't actually care about the people and it's obvious. So we finally asked for the check from that bartender girl and she said okay very gladly right. So again waiting 10 mins or so and I'm like where the hell is check now! Then I look and see the bartender and another bartender chopping it up behind the damn bar as if nothing was happening! In their own little world and then when we asked for the check again she said "obliviously" the check? Oh, okay, and then the other employee preceded to say "so anyways" lol I can't believe y'all are still standing and running. I'm not the only horrible review on this Cabo cantina location. Clueless manager that gave dirty looks and bad waiters and bartenders smh. Do not go here y'all! It's a waste of time and money! read more

Came here after a day on Venice Beach, and thought it was pretty good. It's loud inside, but the waitstaff are fast and friendly, and our table never felt ignored. The happy hour prices on drinks were good, 2 for 1 is awesome! Can't really review drinks, since I was driving and only had diet soda :) but my friends enjoyed theirs! Awesome bar with a funny, friendly, honest bartender named Brandon. We had. Blast! We were going to get two small Margaritas- strawberry and peach but Brandon suggested we get one large one and share it- it would be more fun and cheaper for us! So we stuck with strawberry and my golly it was good! He used fresh strawberries which were purred and we drank that entire thing! I thought we'd never finish it. JUST WHAT I NEEDED! Of course I came right at 4pm when Happy Hour starts (which is daily... didn't know this) but this was the perfect spot for us on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I hope you can see the pics that I shared here but the Venice sunset is amazing. 99% of the drinks are half off during HH (2 for 1) so you can go crazy and your wallet won't hurt too much (you body will kill you though). Everyone was friendly! We were at the upstairs terrace and there was constant group sing-along going on among all the tables. Drinks kick-in right around 4:01pm? Finally had the chance to visit this place over this past weekend with some friends. Out of the two other Cabo Cantinas I've been to, I think this one beats the Hollywood and Santa Monica locations, in my opinion. It's rare for a bar to hold a happy hour over the weekend but come to find out, Cabo is one of the few bars to my knowledge to hold Happy Hour 7-days a week! We came here to the Venice bar location to give it a try. We walked in and found a few seats open right at the bar. Right as we sat down, we were greeted by this gentlemen who was nice enough to greet us and explain that they had happy hour going on which was 2 for 1. After a few rounds, our bartender then became someone else by the name of Paige. Paige was nice enough to put one of my 2 for 1 drinks (beer) on ice while I finished my other one. Long story short, we had a very good experience and service from Paige. She took very good care of us and made our first time memorable and fun. we will be coming back definitely thanks to Paige. *Quick notes on bar: If coming here with friends, make sure to come in advance. This is a small/medium sized bar which fills up quick. They have a ground floor and a 2nd floor as well. Multiple TV's as well. Bathrooms are both Gender Neutral so make sure not to wait last minute to use the restroom because you will have to wait, especially if their girls around. No cover charge (not to my knowledge). Great place for nachos and margaritas. Food serving sizes are bigger than normal. The staff is constantly refilling drinks and checking in. Sitting outside is great for people watching and enjoying the sunny weather. Perfect place to nurse a hang over, hang out and party during the daytime. I visited this business 15 years ago and had an absolute blast! If my scheduled allowed I would have loved to stay longer on my last visit. I tried to go to this place and apparently it wasn't open even when it looked like it was. Some bratty hostess approached me, yelling HEY DOES IT LOOK LIKE WERE OPEN?? I was shocked but apologized and tried to leave, to which she responded WELL GOOD UGGGGHHH. That's when I called for the manager to complain about the hostess' atrocious behavior towards a customer but the manager stood behind her employee's back stating that it was my fault for being yelled at because I didn't check the hours. Why did the restaurant look open then??! It's completely understandable for a customer to believe that a restaurant by the looks of it and there's absolutely no justification for yelling. Im never going to attempt to come here again. I ate here once before and the food is extremely subpar. Horrible "Mexican" food that is also extremely overpriced. Also the bouncer makes you take off your hat for "security reasons" and made my brother take his hat off but then we saw another guy in there wearing the hat. We then tried to order another round of tacos (being that it is all you can eat for $7.99) and were confronted by the manger, who told us we couldn't order another round even though our server told us we could. This place is terrible. Was greeted at the door by a "bouncer" who told me to remove my hat. I'm fine with that. I was handing him my ID and removing my hat and he asked "Can you do it now?" I think it's time for me to stop coming here. I've been here multiple times, hoping it will be better, but I always end up disappointed. My main complaints are the staff (waitresses) and the prices. The waitresses are either rude, nowhere to be found, or both. They half listen to you when you order and get mad when they have to go back and fix their mistake. Plus, they always try to upsell you. The prices for the drinks are ridiculous and the happy hour is deceitful. The menu says ALL drinks are on happy hour. Apparently this is not the case, so you need to check with your waiter before ordering. They also don't honor the happy hour during big sporting events. We came here on a week day to get my friend some lunch. Being right next to the beach and all, the location here is a big plus and the upstairs area gets a pretty decent view of the ocean. My friend got the taco plate and I got the Blue Hawaiian Margarita. My friend's tacos looked and smelled scrumptious, and my margarita tasted great! One of those dangerous ones that hardly even taste like alcohol but you do feel the buzz after a while. I was surprised to get the bill though. The margarita costed $11, practically the same price as my friend's lunch meal. The price wasn't on the menu and I definitely didn't expect a week day margarita to cost that much. My friend was also surprised that she was charged extra money for the beans and rice on her platter. Came here on a Friday around 4pm when their happy hour started it wasn't crowded or anything and it was the beg hiking of Labor Day weekend so I was surprised. I sat at the bar downstairs there is also a bar upstairs as well which we sat at after we walked the pier and came back, they were checking ids by the time we got back. The bartenders were friendly and funny but our waitress was little on the slow side and she also combined my table with the table next to us and charged us gratuity which we didn't like but she thought we were together because we were all black and conversing. Otherwise I loved their carne asada fries! We shared the nachos and fries between the three of us and obviously it was too much for just three girls we also ordered the mega margaritas and that got us pretty buzzed, 5 shots of patron we were told. my friend and I went to eat here before leaving LA. we had just enough time to eat lunch after checking out the Venice Canals. we sat and ordered not too long after but we had to wait over 40 minutes to get our food. This was our first time at this establishment 15 black professional and establishment individuals that was treat like trash!!! We were told on 3 occasions to stop singing and chanting by the host even though the other customers was enjoying out vibe and positive energy. On the 4th occasion this host told us we had to leave even though there was other white customers yalling enjoying the game. In all my years and restaurant going I have never experienced this! The awesome location right off the boardwalk makes this Cabo Cantina a great spot for day drinking. It gets PACKED and service can be very slow. The vibes are super beach casual and they have plenty of screens for watching sports. Drinks are decent and food, while gringo, is surprisingly good! They have a nice selection margaritas. The bartender doesn't know how to take an order and has no common courtesy. If you enjoy a waiter getting your order wrong twice in 30 minutes, then this is the place for you. I've lived on the Penisula for 6 years and decided to take my girlfriend out for a fun night on cinco de mayo which turned into a disaster... First of all they charged me 20 for entrance fee which is fine. I even purchased 10 drinks and decided it was time for some fresh air.I leave for 2 mins and they tell me since I left I must pay another 20 to reenter even though I had a wrist band still on my wrist from previously entering an paying for the fee. It's buy one get one free but the drinks at 13.99? That really means they doubled the price and give u two. 1st) they try to talk u into the monster $18 margarita saying it's a better deal cause it have 4 shots. 2) Then if u want the absurdly high 14$ margarita they say instead of 2 do u want one with two shots!!!! Cabo Cantina is a decent (and cheap!) place to grab drinks and some appetizers. Cabo Cantina has an extremely casual beach feel. You almost feel like you shouldn't enter without sand-covered flip flops. But I think that's the appeal of the place, and the good service is a plus. If you are looking for a laid-back place to catch up with friends and grab some drinks, Cabo Cantina fits the bill - especially after a long day at the beach. Beware if you're craving something sweet. The only dessert they have is a banana cheesecake, which I've never tried. The Drinks: 2 for 1 on all drinks 4-8pm 7 days a week! Unfortunately, the 2 for 1 drink special does not apply to the Mega-Margarita ($16). They of course didn't highlight that fact until I actually asked for it. However, they have a variety of different drinks, including beer, which are included in the deal. I do like that you can get one double-shot margarita for the price of one ($11), or you can get two separate one-shot margaritas for the price of one. The catch is that you have to get two of the same flavor. They have several flavors of margaritas. I've tried the peach, the mango, and the Cancun margarita (also called the Blue Hawaiian). For me, it doesn't really matter what flavor margarita I get. The flavors aren't all that strong so they really all taste the same to me: tequila-flavored. With so many options around the Venice Beach area, there is no reason to resort to Cabo Cantina. I typically rely on yelp for all of my traveling dining choices, and this time I failed. We were out walking along and nothing sounded particularly great so we thought we would just pop in to Cabo Cantina for a quick lunch. What a mistake! While the place looks like a fun and great atmosphere from the outside. That's where the good things end. First of all, we ordered water and it came in a plastic cup with no ice. Secondly, our chips and salsa were subpar at best. The chips were stale, half of them were wet, and the cheese sauce tasted flavorless and looked like Cheez wiz. My salad had very little flavor, chewy steak and wilted lettuce. My boyfriend's breakfast burrito was super bland. While the view from upstairs is great, there were piles of bird poop on half the booth seating area and the tables were sticky. If you must visit Cabo cantina, I can only think that they maintain their business with their drinks and nightlife over their food offerings. read more

2 MAJOR complaints. Waitress scam artists - our bill for 2 drinks was $26 we paid $40 cash. The waitress brought us $9 change. When we rightly questioned why we got shorted on our change the waitress replied - with an attitude "we don't give exact change because we don't have change" What??? What does that even mean? Then she came back with $3 and literally threw it on the table. We called her back and said we were still short to make a point: What a scam artist.
