First of all, I stopped by Cabo Cantina like I usually do on the weekend. At first everything was fine until I seen what looked to be the manager yelling at women calling them a bitch. The bartenders are pretty slow, which isn't unusual but I noticed him yelling at women, in which I tried to understand what was going on. When I approached him not only did he scream at me too, but his breathe reaked of alcohol. I've been coming to Cabo (both locations on 3rd St. and Washington and never had any problems) for years now. After he yelled at the woman calling her a bitch he continued to do the same to me which was highly inappropriate and made me feel for the first time, unsafe. It's getting to the point of me filing a police report. The fact that this is normalized, the mistreatment of women, is wholeheartedly not okay. And the fact this type of person could get a job as a manager, is clearly under the influence(s), and has anger, behavior, or mental issues needs to be addressed and looked into. Not only that but there was several minors I seen that night, (I know them from Highschool) and the fact you can call women "bitches" yet allow minors to consume alcohol shows clearly that priorities are not being taken seriously. I'd love to speak to the owner of this establishment, a conversation with someone competent would be great. read more

18 dollars to park on the beach. About a 3-5minute walk from the lot. The steak was beautifully grilled and taste delicious with the cotija cheese, guacamole and pico digallo. The service was attentive, kind and efficient. It's a chill ambiance and is a local tourist attraction. Highly recommend spending the extra 18 for parking. It beats looking for parking everywhere and takes the time out of it. Margaritas were delicious and huge. We got the chicken fajitas today. I had already taken a little bit of chicken out of this picture, but there is way more vegetables than chicken. It was good but very salty as was the beans. Service was crapy, not friendly at all, didn't ask my husband what he wanted to drink she started to walk away, I had to call her back. Even the gentleman behind me was asking for his margarita that she forgot to order so he moved inside to the bar for better service he said to me. . They have SIX locations across Southern California. Interior decor and atmosphere were very lively with tv screens on each corner of their full bar. We came here on a late afternoon to grab food after spending all day at the beach playing vb. We checked-in and the host checked our IDs. We sat at their outdoor patio and it took us 13+ mins for a server; we almost wanted to leave and go home. Luckily, Santos, our server arrived. My friends ordered Baja bowls (chicken, shrimps and beef) and I had chicken tenders and elote (corn). A few minutes later our food arrived. Their hand breaded Chicken tenders were warm, tasty, soft and flavorful. Conversely, their Elite (corn on the cob) was subpar in taste and quality. Prices were reasonable. The only good thing about this place is the margaritas & tequila and that it's right by the beach. Fun atmosphere for day drinking! Food is mediocre and overpriced (but you are at a tourist spot by the beach) it's what you expect. Not a great spot for vegans, they have some vegetarian options, but skip the taco salad! Just don't go. I didn't even think to check reviews because I've been to Cabo Cantina and multiple locations so many times. We were very intentional on going at Happy Hour (4-8 PM, daily). After ordering two margaritas with the worst pour I've ever seen, I didn't worry too much about it. It's 2 for 1, we'll take these and leave. It wasn't until we were charged full price for both that I spoke up. At that point, the bartender responded in a rude way that they don't do happy hour at this location. EVERY menu in this place has these Happy Hour times and it's painted all outside of the restaurant. If this is the case, you would think they would not only update all of this, but also offer a way to make up for this for a customer. Whether that's discounting this round, giving us an extra round, or a simple apology, something would have been nice. Then, we could make our own decisions about staying. Instead, we felt like idiots despite this being an issue on their end. It's pretty simple after seeing other recent reviews. This isn't a place you want to go to. read more

She made sure we were very well taken care of & since it was basically our first time there she recommended the best things for us. When I came by a few months ago while visiting the area, the experience was just okay. There weren't too many people inside or outside but the waiters took FOREVER to come get an order or bring the drinks. I legit waited 20-30 minutes each time I needed a new drink. The drinks were very sweet and watered down, so at some point, I had to ask for an extra shot to be added to my smoothies. It's still a decent 3/5 star spot, mainly, because their outdoor patio is so good for people watching. read more

The first thing I noticed is a 'beachy' sand filled area out front where you can have dinner in what looks like an actual beach (minus the ocean) which is super cool. There are tiki torches, candles and quite the ambiance however, since I had my lap dog I couldn't sit there. Strict rules of 'No Dogs Allowed on the sand' was enforced so I sat in the back on the open patio. The waiter came over quickly and told me the restaurant was under new management and the menu was completely different than it had ever been... hmmm, that could be good or bad. I ordered gauc along with the chips (cant go wrong with that) and the chicken enchilada dinner along with a margarita. There weren't many people on the back patio and lucky for me, everything I ordered came out pretty quickly. One of the 'new things' they do is put the beans and rice in little taco bowls next to the item ordered instead of directly on the plate. Cool! More food :) The enchiladas were really good so were the beans and the side salad. The rice was ok but if I'm being honest, I'm a stickler for Spanish rice because nobodies rice compares to my grandma's recipe. No lie. I've gone to this location multiple times and have had no issues. Though the food came out well and the drinks were delicious, this experience was ruined once I realized my debit card had gone missing. Being in a bar, we all know you have to put a debit card down to open the tab- which we did with no worries. At the end of our meal, a card was returned however I paid in cash so had no reason to check it. (Please keep in mind the restaurant had all of 5 people there) It wasn't until I drove home (1 hour away) and stopped at the bank that I realized I was given the wrong debit card. When I called the restaurant manager to complain and bring the error to their attention, I was put on hold while he "searched for Fatima"- my waitress- however no one ever picked up the phone. This is unacceptable and completely ruined my night. I now have to wait a week to receive a new debit card which has inconvenienced me and my livelihood. So I come to this Cabo Cantina all the time and this is the first time I've ever had a problem. The bouncer checked my guy friend's (Caucasian) I.D. before he checked mine. While he holds a Texas I.D., he is now a resident of California. I too hold a valid TX I.D. After he showed GE I.D. he was waved on in. Standing behind him, I moved forward and presented my I.D., a valid TX I.D. The man who looked at my I.D., presented as the new GM of the Venice location. After he looked at my I.D., he said I needed a second form if I.D. before I could enter. Note, my I.D. is the same as my friend's - a valid TX I.D. Remember, my friend was able to enter the bar with his single form of I.D. What was wrong with mine? Rhetorical question, we already know. I requested the GM identify himself. He stated his name was Amador Sagrero. Continuing, I asked him to please inform me why my friend, who has a TX I.D. was able to enter with no additional identification and I was not able to. He continued to cite it's "corporate policy". Remember, my friend had already been waved in. He turned around and highlighted that he was not asked to present additional I.D. The GM continued to state it is corporate policy, pointing to a sign near the entrance. When I looked over at the sign, it read upon entry a patron needed a valid CA I.D., a valid out-of-state I.D. (which I presented). Additional forms if I.D. - two forms of I.D. were needed if a non-valid DL form of I.D. was presented. The GM continued with, show another form of I.D. or you're not getting in. The bouncer (at 6:15p Feb. 1st) said, I could always just go somewhere else. I looked at my friend, and that is what we did. We went a few blocks down the street, to the Whaler, where we were received very well! In the end, I'd like to think in 2020, in Venice CA one would not experience racism, but that wasn't the case. My friend and I, both from Texas, met in California. Cabo Cantina has been our reunion spot. Both in Venice and West Hollywood. Sadly, after tonight's experience, we will not be returning to either. The experience reminded me, as far as we've come, racism still exists. I was discriminated against. What started as a great evening, a reunion after two months, ended with a sour taste in our mouths and a gut punch in my stomach. Witnesses were present. Based on eye witness accounts, footage captured, etc., I will educate myself on their policies, and educate my friends on what to expect from CC and the family of restaurants going forward. read more
