I placed a custom order for a cake and it was nothing like what I had asked for. The baker decided to do what they wanted instead of the request I had put in. I don't see the point of it being a "custom" cake, if they're just going to do it however they want. It was for my first gender reveal and I was disappointed. I felt like I wasted my time, my money, and my first experience finding out the gender for my first baby. Though I can't speak to the cakes and other pastries sold here, I adore their baklava! Found out about this place through a friend, who stumbled upon this place while she was in the area. She originally went in for a small birthday cake, but noticed the massive trays of baklava on the counter as she was paying. The bakery's massive variety of baklava, some rolled and topped with pistachio, others with thick layers of walnut enveloped between layers of phyllo dough, are all sold at $13/lb. She bought a pound of assorted baklava and was kind enough to let me try a few of each. I recently came by to pick up a large platter for my sister's birthday, who opted for pastries over cake. She and I were exceptionally excited this time around, as we learned that the baklava was made with vegetable ghee in lieu of butter (we are vegans with the exception of honey). Needless to say, they were a hit! The only thing deterring me from leaving a five-star review is the way this place is handling COVID restrictions. The eclair was about the size of a chocolate donut bar. It was was airy bread with a light milk chocolate glaze. The Napoleon was flakey with a vanilla custard filling. It was so good. Let me start off by saying this review is for my experience with the staff only. I come in often for their baklava which is always delicious! I feel like a jerk posting this review, but unfortunately the last few times I have come in the people working there were so unfriendly. Sadly much to my disappointment today was no exception. I wanted to surprise my husband with some baklava from there so I stopped in on my way home. The woman working there barely acknowledged me and when I asked her a question she mumbled out a response I barely could understand. While I know this is likely not the case (I hope), I wonder if there is some discrimination since I am of Caucasian descent with the neighborhood becoming more Middle Eastern in demographic. Used to like this spot. Until i needed to order a cake for an event. Walked in a month before ordered a simple strawberry cream white cake with plain frosting. Simple enough. The person who helped was nice, took down my order and brought up the owner from the back and confirmed the delivery availability. Im about 3 minutes away but since I was hosting an event i didn't want to run around for the cake. And since they said delivery was an option we were gold! Fast forward to the day before the event. I called to confirm, both cake and delivery and was confirmed. The day of event, supposed to have the cake at noon. 1230 rolls in and i give them a call, busy for like 20 minutes. Finally get through, the person on the phone clearly scrambling, speaking / yelling at others in Arabic. Then she says oh its deliveryy. Yeah its delivery. She said okay it will be there in 30 minutes. Even though im a 3 minute drive. Okay fine. No apologies or anything at this point either. About 20 minutes later the person who i was on the phone with delivered the cake. Again no apologies or anything. Exterior looks just fine. Cake was placed on dessert table immediately and were good to go.. at least we thought. Almost 5pm and were serving dessert, we go to cake the cake FROZEN SOLID. COMPLETELY SOLID. There was no defrosting it and there was no cake at the baby shower. SO SO DISAPPOINTING. I called the next day and get the whole 'owners not here he'll call u back'. I recently placed an order at Caesar's for Father's day for a custom cake of Orange creme. I had called several other bakeries and no one was flexible to take a special order of orange flavor! Granted I understand that orange flavor isn't very common but I felt it wasn't an unreasonable request. But yeah Caesar's pastry was the only one that was eager for the challenge! I posted 3 pictures with my initial review and just added one more for your information. I don't know why yelp shows you only two pictures. The cake is no where to be the same as I asked. My husband and I both dealt with your bakery therefore both of us left an appropriate review as we left your place very unhappy. I've come to a point where I can say they have the worst customer service ever. Phone calls are always dry and they never understand what anyone is saying. Even when I place a phone order weeks in advance, they're always lost when I'm there to pick up or confirm! I've been ordering knafeh trays for my occasions and today was the last day I'll ever order one from here! First, I called in the morning to confirm the order and they were so lost!! And I had to clear it up that I placed the order a head of time and I'm just here to pick up. I picked up the knafeh with the worst presentation ever and it was left out between costumers on the counter not even covered up!! I understand knafeh would melt or crack in the middle during the baking process but that doesn't not mean I pick it up all cracked up and pay for something like that. And the funny part is trying to cover the cracks with so much pistachio!! (I didn't even want that much on my order, not everyone eats pistachio!) 1. It looks horrible, I needed it for a dinner. 2. If it cracks, it's better to just mention it than make it look horrible by covering it up 3. At least place it on a clean tray!! Don't try to blame my driving for it because I picked up the tray filled with syrup everywhere and the cover is just so dirty and messy. Like I would rather pick it up cracked up with my syrup and pistachio on the side, rather than it looking this way. Customer service shouldn't be based if this is a family business or anything, easily be nice to people and don't just try to rush it. Don't throw at me my order looking horrible and basically asking for the money and kicking people out. read more
