Used to love this place when I was a kid. However, on Sunday I went there for a treat. I got a $5 gluten-free muffin. That's overpriced. There are delicious gluten-free muffins in Mpls. (where there's higher rent) for $3.50. I know they're from a vendor and thus there's a mark-up, but that's still too high. Also, a medium coffee was $3. That's more than Caribou, which is already enough. Additionally, because gluten-free sells less frequently, the muffins were frozen, which I have no issue with, but the counter person gave it to me in the drive-thru still ice cold. That was a truly poor customer service experience. They should have warmed it more thoroughly and checked even the outside temperature. read more

Had heard good things about the restaurant. It is a bit confusing for the first timer but you do need to go up and order. Prices are on the high end for the area. Went here for breakfast and was greatly disappointed. It is not a true sit down restaurant. You have to awkwardly stand around and wait for a table to clear. There is not host to help you with this. Then you have to go up to a counter, pick up the menus yourself and then go back to the counter to order. They take your name and come out of the kitchen with your food just hollering your name. They gave us our food with no silverware. We had to go back to the counter to get it ourselves. The food was simple but lacking. The home fries were sour potatoes that they burned. The eggs Benedict used deli ham (which the menu did state) but I swear it was just a pack of Buddig. When I go out to eat in the morning I want to be waited on, not shoved in a corner. And if I wanted to order from a counter I would have just gone to McDonalds for much cheaper and way better coffee. read more

I found Cafe Cravings adorable and the service and food average. I ordered a latte which was decent, but the milk was lukewarm and there was far too much vanilla flavoring. The food is a bit on the expensive side and nothing too extraordinary, which (according to other reviews) either means I have a warped sense of taste, or didn't order the right item. The selection of bakery items stood out most to me, so I had a piece of lemon poppy seed bread which was moist and a huge portion. Tried a friend's omelet, salad and soup. Unremarkable but not bad. Cute place, will probably go back infrequently because of it's cozy interior and convenient location. read more

I will admit that I don't venture out into the suburbs much when it comes to seeking food. The boo works near this cute little cafe so we have stopped in for brunch twice now. It feels like the grandma's house of cafes in a welcoming, warm way - not an out-of-date way. The food is tasty and filling. I have had their bagel sandwich, a strawberry-rhubarb muffin, and a caramel roll. Everything is hearty. The bagel sandwich has a three-egg (maybe two big eggs) omelette on it. The muffin was huge and absolutely delicious. I would definitely pop in here again. Don't expect too much out of the non-coffee drinks though. I got a chai tea latte and it tasted like egg nog. I tried a hot chocolate and it still had powdery clumps. That knocked this place down to 3 stars for me. read more

Stopped in last night looking for some dessert and decided to have the chocolate cake and some cheese cake with some coffee. This place is super cozy and very relaxed. The deserts were really great. The brownie cheese cake had brownie bits that literally liquified when you ate them. The cheese cake itself is heavy and a bit custardy feeling, but it's really good when paired with their coffee. The chocolate cake looks almost identical to a keys cake, but tastes completely different. The cake is lighter and a lot more moist, but you can feel the sugar in the frosting because it's not a butter cream. I like this cake much more as it doesn't leave you with that overly rich feeling. The coffee drinks they have really are what makes this place exceptional. The price is great and the flavour is in comparable. The only detractor is the location, as many people have said, it's a bit run down outside. read more

This is a cute litte shop that makes real good coffee and decent baked goods. There eggs benedict are fantastic. Decent portions and the eggs and sause were beautifully done. There is somewhat of a limited menu but I respect that they stick to what they do best. This place is like a hidden heaven right on the corner of Hwy 61 and County Rd E. Their coffee is some of the best I've ever had, their food is awesome, the atmosphere is very local and quaint. They always have newspapers to read in the morning. It's great all around. read more

My mom and I had some delicious chicken and wild rice soup the other day. My mom had the bread bowl complete with a parmesan garlic top, which was very yummy. The soup was nice and hearty on a cold day and the staff was friendly! Will definitely be back! read more

This is one of my favorite, delicious, low-key, cozy restaurants to visit! The staff is always friendly, welcoming, helpful, and efficient, and the food is made from scratch, inventive, filling, and reasonably priced. They offer a great variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, and yummy desserts and breads. They have about 15 tables, and sometimes there's a wait for a table, but it's worth it! They have free WiFi, newspapers and books to read, a fireplace, an outdoor patio with a fire pit that they recently redesigned, and a drive-through! For breakfast and lunch, you order at a counter to have your food brought out to you. I've mostly been there for breakfast and lunch (try the omelets and soups!); for dinner, they have a slightly different menu and servers. They just have one bathroom, though, which often has a wait for it. Friends and family and I visit this place often and are never disappointed. read more

I hate giving this place a review of 2 stars but there was a couple different aspects of the place that I wasn't impressed with. First the ambiance in the cafe is pretty lackluster. It is dark and almost cafeteria like. I think they need to do a total update of the place, paint and decor. I wasn't very comfortable. I ordered a candy cane latte and it didn't taste minty at all. Also the drink wasn't hot and she made it right in front of me so it wasn't like it was sitting for a while. The one saving grace to this place was the deserts. They must have had 20 differerent items. They had carmelita bars, a couple kinds of cookies, cheesecake, german chocolate cake and many others. I tried a peanut butter cookie with a peanut butter cup on top and it was very yummy. Unfortuantely that was the only nice thing I could say about my visit to this cafe. read more

I have eaten at Cafe Cravings dozens of times over the years, and the food, drinks, baked goods, and desserts have always been very good in my experience. The previous review is right that the inside of the cafe is small and could use an update, but the food really makes up for it, and I think you'd have a hard time coming up with another place as unique in the area. I love their french sodas (made with flavored syrup, club soda, and cream) and their garden veggie wrap. Everything I've ever had for breakfast there is good (pancakes, eggs, etc), especially their scones and muffins! I read through every single review and though I do admit the outside could use a tad bit TLC, lets face it - I don't pick the place to get my coffee based on the grass or paint job on the building. If you are genuinely looking for that "place you love to go"... this is the place. If there is a single review on here that says the food was disgusting and terrible - they are reviewing the wrong place lol. I suppose a bad day is possible, but I am literally here several times a week and have NEVER been given a bad order. Food is objective just as easy as art. Someone could say burnt when it was simply a bit darker toast. Different strokes for different folks but I guarantee if you give it a try, it will become your favorite place. I have been there several times, food is good but expensive. My final visit, I went through the drive through - no one in line but me. Took 15 minutes to get a $12 salad that was basically from a bag of greens. Gal at the window did not greet me - I sat there for a long time, had another gal come up and plunk a tip jar in front of me as I sat there waiting (this was before I paid). This was at 1:00 in the afternoon - I did not leave a tip and will not go back - they were rude and unfriendly. read more

Decent portions and standard pricing, maybe a little high for a cafe setting but not for the quaint restaurant it seems to be aspiring to be. It's been a tradition to pick up a piece of cake for both my mom & I from here when she's in town visiting. A little expensive, but the slice was always quite large and some of the best cake I've had. We stopped there this afternoon to feed our habit. It was over $12 for 2 pieces of cake. I am a huge fan of Cravings. I frequent this location and the one located inside the Maplewood Library. They are best at food! From breakfast to dinner, and all of their desserts. They always have something different and unexpected and are reasonably priced. read more
