Go early (like when they open at 7am) on the weekends to avoid the lines! We enjoyed a meatloaf Loco Moco, made with a delicious homemade gravy, traditional eggs Benedict, and the Hawaiian Plate (fresh fruit and choice of starch). The banana bread was basically perfect. Soft, banana-y, almost custard, but not rubbery or dense, and no nuts. Lightly grilled to give it just a bit of crispy edge. Mmm. Breakfast entrees are around $20 after tax, while sandwiches/bagels are a little less. Coffee has free refills. We're already planning what we'll get the next time we come!
Quite possibly the best brunch in Honolulu! My aunt lives in Waikiki and recommended this restaurant. We arrived on a Thursday just before 11 and there was no wait. We were seated right away and greeted by what seemed like every single employee. They took the time to review the menu and their specials, and even gave us recommendations. Our coffee mugs were never even half empty and the food... oh the food! Excellent! Highly highly recommend their chicken and waffles. Yummmmm
This place was sooo good!! A friend recommended this spot to us, she used to live in Oahu. It's a very popular place, and when we got there it was pretty busy, but honestly only waited like 15 min tops! Our server was super nice and we had a couple people check on us. Food came out super fast also which is a huge plus. To top it off it was actually hot! The restaurant itself was cute, it felt like I was eating at a friend's house if that makes sense. I got the two eggs with Portuguese sausage and fried rice with sourdough. And we also got some pancakes. All the food was soo delicious! I'd definitely recommend this place , and it also wasn't tooo expensive which is a major plus!

There's certainly plentiful breakfast or brunch places in Hawaii but this place is special. A nice Sunday go to for some of my favorite breakfast choices. Their menu has a list larger than Denny's and the food quality was over the moon! Service style is very diner style, with an aloha twist. Server was very personal and had a very sweet and charming smile. Definitely what I want first thing in the morning. The cafe is very cute, personally I find it a little tight and a lot of background noise but makes it very festive. They are quite pack yet they are very efficient and the food comes out quick. For the food, Eggs Benedict was good egg was nice and yolky. The Canadian bacon is crispy and provides the perfect saltiness that balances the yolk of the egg. The French toast is sweet, both heavy and light. The heaviness of the croissant paired with the syrup creates a nice heavy punch with the whip cream and berries creating a fluffy light texture.
This is one of our other go to places for bread when we are in town. Service is on point with a chill vibe. Food is always good. Today's meal was lox and bagel which was a winner. The only complaint is maybe cut the tomato a little bit thinner.
Great food, quick service, hits the spot! Came here on a Saturday morning and there was a little bit of a wait, but they move fast! We were in an out of the restaurant in about an hour! I got the french toast with eggs and portuguese sausage. Delicious and hit the spot. My friend got the pancakes with strawberries and boy did they load up the strawberries! It was the fresh kind too! Hit the brunch spot for sure!
I was craving something sweet, so I ordered the Belgian waffle with strawberries, while my boyfriend got the meatloaf eggs Benedict. Everything was delicious! The waffles were light and fluffy, and I appreciated how generous they were with the strawberries. I also tried my boyfriend's dish, the meatloaf was flavorful and moist. The service was quick and efficient. The only thing that felt a little awkward was when our server handed me the payment device and seemed to watch the screen closely while I completed the transaction. It would have felt more comfortable if she had stepped away or looked elsewhere for a moment. Aside from that small detail, we had a great experience, and Cafe Kaila definitely satisfied our brunch craving!
We always make it a point to stop by for Lunch or Dinner when we are in Oahu. They have the best Breakfast and Waffles along with their Meatloaf Benedicts. The people are so friendly here and it has a Family feel like ambiance. The Chicken and Waffles with the Maple syrup/ butter and paprika is really good. I also would like to mention our Server Kat's demeanor and personality made it feel like I was eating at a neighbor's house. Definitely best spot for a Breakfast or Lunch when we stay town.
This place is always busy for a reason! We came here after a hike and between the two of us, we had a hard time finishing two things off the menu (but we still ordered 3 things!! -waffle, eggs Benedict, and breakfast burrito). Their portion sizes are big and of course... they're one of the best breakfast restaurants on the island so the flavors are always good! Considering how busy they are, the servers are still always attentive and sweet. It's always such a great experience coming here. The only thing that stops me from coming is the line, but once I'm in, I'm reminded that it's worth waiting for!
Cafe Kalia is an excellent place to have brunch in Kaimuki. Located in the Market City Shopping Center with Foodland, the service is exceptional. The staff made us feel at ease like we were long time friends. I did enjoy their meatloaf eggs Benedict. The meatloaf was tasty and I loved the rich homemade gravy. You really don't see that combination at other restaurants. Oh and coffee refills were frequent, a big plus early in the morning. #bigboyproblems

I'd say parties larger than 6 would be a squeeze. Maybe call to double check. Take out orders available. Table & counter seating available! Counter looks like a vibe, def recommend if it's a 2 person party. Coffee selection is decent. No matcha. The hot mocha hit the spot! If your vibe is Benedict's, I loved how they allow half orders to try 2 styles. Bacon is done right! Potato's on point! They had a Croissant French toast special that was great. Would love to come back for their lunch menu which starts at 11AM. Free parking lot that fills up quickly. Ample parking in lower lot, about a 3min walk because you have to go around, no through access. Bathroom is shared with other businesses and not really the business lol. 3 beverages, 3 main orders, 20% tip = $90. Average pricing.
Service was amazing. We were greeted at the door, water was always filled. They made a nice suggestion when I couldn't figure out if I wanted sweeter or savory. I was a part of the clean plate club and so was my husband. I ended up going sweet. My husband wanted savory. I ordered the sweet potato waffle that was on the special. I ate every single bite of that waffle. They do give you whipped cream and syrup on the side but it was sweet enough you can eat with or without it. He ordered the eggs Benedict on a smoked salmon with lup cheong fried rice. He offered me one bite at the beginning- two minutes later there was nothing left. I swear each of those things on his plate could've been a meal by itself. He ordered two meals, but he ate every bit of it. The smoked salmon was so savory and it was just enhanced by the eggs Benedict sauce. It was tangy. The poached egg was perfect. Toasted biscuit. I almost feel like I should've ordered it too, but I really liked my waffle. It was very clean and neat. Everything was pastel colored the tables and the chairs matched the sign. It was a really homely comfort that you look for in a bed and breakfast.
Cafe Kaila is a great, cute spot for brunch. They serve classic breakfast dishes along with lunch options that start at 11am, and the selection is solid--especially if you have a sweet tooth. My personal favorite is the French toast, which you can top with a mix of banana, blueberries, and strawberries for an extra $3-5. They also offer special off-menu sweet treats like cornbread waffles and banana bread French toast. We haven't tried those yet but plan to next time. We've been here a handful of times and it's becoming our go-to brunch place. I usually order the frittata omelette, which comes loaded with onions, mushrooms, and your choice of meat or mixed vegetables, plus a side of really good roasted potatoes. On our most recent visit we went for a combo to balance sweet and savory: soft scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, and two big slices of French toast with strawberries. It was delicious. We also ordered the pastrami eggs Benedict with sides of fried rice and roasted potatoes. We both left completely full and not at all disappointed. The staff is extremely friendly, and there's plenty of seating. It does get busy (there's usually a waitlist because it's popular), but in all our visits the wait has never been more than 10-15 minutes. Highly recommend for a solid, satisfying brunch read more

The food was amazing! I ordered the Pastrami Benedict with fried rice as a substitute, along with a side of roasted potatoes, and everything was absolutely delicious. 10/10! The service was excellent, the staff was friendly, and the place was clean and welcoming. Definitely a great spot--I'll be back! read more

This was my first time here and I've heard it's good and that they get busy. We got there and only waited 10-15 minutes. Luckily we got there when we did because there ended up being a long line behind us. We went for breakfast, so it was pretty basic. Eggs, meat and rice. There was a small issue with our order and our server was super apologetic and did what he could to fix it. I thought it was a cute place and would go back if the wait wasn't too long. Service was good and fast and it looked like they turn the tables pretty quickly. read more
We stopped by for a last minute breakfast on a Sunday. We arrived around 8:00 am and were able to get a seat right away. They have a sign in sheet outside of the restaurant. We ordered the Croissant French Toast, Meatloaf Loco Moco, and a side of Fried Rice. We loved the Croissant French Toast and Fried Rice. The meatloaf was a little soft for my liking, but was a great meal other than that. They even offered a kids plate and utensils for our daughter. This restaurant is located in Market City Shopping Center so there is a parking lot right in front. It was pretty empty when we got there, but the parking lot was full and there was a line of people in the front by the time we left. Overall a great breakfast spot and can't wait to go back to try the rest of their menu. read more

Accidentally stumble on this place only downside is it's been hyped on TT so the lines are massive, there is no reservation which is great! Get there early before 10am and you should be fine. This one one of the rare places that service eggs Benedict with smoked salmon so perfect. Their special fried rice was alright but very pork heavy. Coffee was delicious service at the bar was nice pleasant and swift. read more

Cafe Kaila is a solid breakfast stop. I got the breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato) and it was tasty and filling. Service was good, but it gets packed--come early if you can. Plenty of parking though, which is a big win. It's a Casual dining experience with a relaxed vibe. read more
We finally got to try Cafe Kaila. There's always a lot of people waiting in line. Now we know why. It's a really good restaurant. Service is excellent very attentive and friendly. We went with our servers recommendations. I had the Fried Chicken and Waffles. Crispy Fried Chicken that had been marinated in Buttermilk, crispy on the outside moist and tender inside. The Belgian style waffle was one of the best I've ever had accompanied by their cayenne maple butter syrup. Delicious . My wife ordered the Breakfast Wrap. She ordered with the flour tortilla and chose ham as the meat. It comes with scrambled eggs, onions, spinach, potatoes, and cheddar cheese. They grill it and serve it with their famous homemade salsa. They asked if we needed Hot Sauce and we usually use it but the food was so flavorful it didn't need anything else . They have 2 cozy dining rooms the walls are decorated with their numerous awards and all well deserved. Highly recommended read more
This was my favorite brunch spot of the entire trip to Oahu. It really felt like a hole-in-the-wall place. We got there around 10 a.m. after the Diamond Head hike, and it was packed! The service was very nice, and the atmosphere felt homey, which I really liked. I ordered their signature loco moco with meatloaf, and it was fantastic. I've always liked meatloaf growing up, so it was a fun way to try it with loco moco gravy. The gravy was rich and paired perfectly with the rice, and the meatloaf packed a flavor punch. The sunny-side-up eggs added another layer of richness, and the rice was super fluffy and absorbed the sauce beautifully. I also tried a few bites of my girlfriend's Kalua pork eggs Benedict, and that was a banger. There was plenty of Kalua pork, and the eggs were perfectly cooked on a toasted English muffin. They added a nice tangy sauce that tied everything together. A lot of eggs Benedict I've tried at restaurants can be bland, but this one was perfectly seasoned. The Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict was excellent, the kalua pork was full of flavor, the eggs were cooked perfectly with beautifully runny yolks, and the salted roasted potatoes on the side were a great complement. Everything felt well balanced and comforting. We also ordered the Meatloaf Loco Moco, which easily lives up to its reputation. The meat patty was huge, well-seasoned, and paired incredibly well with their rich, savory gravy. Generous portions, comforting flavors, and food that's clearly made with care. Service was fast, we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. Definitely a must-visit casual breakfast spot if you're in the area. read more

I took the kids to Oahu for a week and the first day there I picked Cafe Kaila for breakfast, based on Yelp reviews. Needless to say, we came back 4 more times. This place is amazing! I had the kalua pig eggs benedict EVERY TIME WE WENT. I couldn't get enough. Days that they had the fried rice, I substituted my potatoes for rice. Yummy! The kids are STILL talking about the chicken and waffles lol. I kinda wish they would bottle that cayenne maple butter sauce that they use on the waffles. That stuff is FIRE!!! The staff was friendly, and the ambiance gave a family vibe. There is a wait on the weekends, but it's worth it. read more
Timing is everything when it comes to dining in Hawaii, and we certainly picked the perfect moment. We were able to sit down immediately and savor some delicious, innovative food without waiting in line. Another great brunch with California visitors! They loved it and so did we- great service and food! Highlights- pancakes so good no need for butter or syrup! Perfect! Got the frittata omelette and cinnamon French toast. Loved the seasoning on the omelette it was savory, cheesy, warm, and perfectly cooked. The omelette also came with toast (definitely recommend the sourdough with jam option) and a side of potatoes or upgrade to fried rice. Got the fried rice and it was delicious. If you like salt, it was nicely salted compared to other fried rice I've had at other restaurants. As for the cinnamon french toast, it was simple yet left me craving more when I finished it! It was light, fluffy, with a hint of cinnamon but yet was ono! Very happy with my selections and wouldnt mind getting them again :) Tip: gets crowded so I recommend going early. I go to Café Kaila literally every week after my long run, and I have never had anything that wasn't good. It's truly one of the most reliable, delicious breakfast spots in Honolulu. This review is mostly for Wayne, who's been the absolute BEST server. He remembers my food allergies every time, always gives warm and thoughtful service, and makes the whole experience feel so homey and personal. People like him are the reason I always come back. First of all, Id like to say, I have never been to a restaurant where the staff were all genuinely nice. We all know the fake nice from the REAL nice and everyone here is so genuinely nice. We went early (8am) because the line can get crazy on the weekends. Lots of free parking too. When we left there were a lot of people waiting outside. Now on to the food... OMGreatness. Started with the special french toast - Pumpkin Crunch French Toast ..Yup. was super 'ono. Then moved on to the Avocado Toast ... on focaccia with an amazing dressing and everything but, the kitchen sink on it (just the way I like it). Then I had the Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict with the Kaila Fried Rice. Super good and I did want to add a fried egg on the rice but, thought it would be a little too much. lol after all the other stuff I ate. My Dad kept raving about the Meat Loaf Loco Moco. The meat loaf was tasty and the gravy was really good and Mom enjoyed her Breakfast Wrap (it was too large for her to finish tho, lightweight Lol). My brother had the Pastrami Eggs Benedict and he said it was super good. We all had a great time and they even sang Happy Birthday to me. awww (blush). Mahalo to the staff at Cafe Kaila. Café Kaila always had the best brunch food with some of the nicest servers on the island! I love their Frittata, which is HUGE and comes with crunchy toast (with your choice of bread), potatoes or rice, and a couple fresh fruits on the side. Their potatoes are herby and filling, and their egg dishes are always cooked to perfection. Their sandwiches (served during lunch) are big and delicious -- served with crispy chips and the option to have your sandwich served cold or toasted panini-style. Vibe: They're restaurant is big and offers table and bar seating, but there is typically a wait if you come during their busy hours. You can sign in for the waitlist in front of the entrance to the restaurant. Service is always quick and kind. Parking: The Market City Shopping Center parking lot is large and usually has available stalls, although it gets busy during lunch and dinner hours. read more

Make sure that your entire party is ready to go in otherwise they will not seat you. This breakfast hotspot is always busy. The breakfast is hardy, plentiful, and tasty. The prices are not crazy either for the amount of food served. And coffee refills are free! I mention this because I was at another place recently and refills cost a $1. Other places don't give refills, or charge you for a brand new cup.....! Love the waffles, pancakes, omelettes, Benedict's and frittata. All tasty and filling. Service is always quick, friendly, and efficient. Free parking right out front. read more

Ahhh. I loved this place !!! Parking availability went well for me as I came early in the morning. There was no wait for me in line but it gets busy super quick and you have to wait outside which I appreciate so it's not so packed inside while others are eating. My family and I were greeted by staff, they were very sweet and respectful. Our waitress was a sweetheart as well and provided us with their specials of the day and recommendations. I ordered the loco moco meatloaf, while my honey had the fried rice and steak and eggs. Everything was 10/10 from presentation to flavor. Next time I'm back visiting, this will be my first stop! read more
During our trip to Oahu, we took it upon ourselves to listen to the locals, and get our recommendations on where to dine, while on the island. Cafe Kaila made that recommendation list, and were glad it did. Clearly this place has a following, which was made evident by the line of people waiting to get inside. We put our name down on the list, which ended up only being a 15 min wait, but gave us a good amount of time to walk around the neighboring stores/restaurants. Once sat, our waiter was quick to assist us, despite it being a packed house. I decided to go with the make-your-own omelette, which I filled with turkey bacon, provolone cheese, mushrooms, and spinach. My sides I went with roasted potatoes and wheat toast. A fairly simple breakfast, but it is one that I thoroughly enjoy. The restaurant itself is also fairly simple in decor, but the charm of the wait staff, and the patrons, made our dining experience here so great. If you're looking for a good breakfast, Cafe Kaila is the place to be. read more
Always enjoy the food here! Go-to is the combo with French toast. Service is always friendly and efficient. They're very quick to top off your coffee! However, it does get busy at certain hours (especially on weekends) and they don't take reservations so plan accordingly. It's been about 13 years since I was here last. It was small the, but it sure seemed smaller this time. We were 10th on the wait list, but they turn tables quickly. There are also counter seats. There's only one bench out front if you have to wait, so you might have to stand. (Make sure to sign in; no one is stationed out front to record your name.) We both had variations on a breakfast special. The best was the pancakes. The scrambled eggs were unremarkable and the bacon was so salty it was nearly inedible. It is very noisy, between voices, dishes clattering, etc. It was very hard to hold a conversation. I felt the same way 13 years ago; good food, but nothing to rave about. The staff are nice and on top of things despite being constantly busy while Open. The bathroom is several doors down, down a hallway. read more

The food here is delicious. Nothing too extraordinary, maybe their chicken and waffles but I didn't have it this day. The service here was good. It's always pretty busy so I'd say the ambiance is a bit loud but still a nice place to go with family or friends for brunch. read more

This was our first visit to Cafe Kaila in the Market City shopping center. We arrived about 2:00 pm. There was one group ahead of us and 2 more after us. When the server came out he was able to seat all of us quickly. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The only negative was that the restroom is back a few stores and down the hallway. I ordered the Combo - 2 pancakes with 2 eggs and ham. My DH ordered the roasted veggie panini that came with chips, and he also had a cappuccino. I really enjoyed the pancakes. I forgot to check the specials for the day. They had cookies and cream waffle and croissant French toast. So, I'll have to come back... read more

Each time I've past Cafe Kaila, there has always been a line so this was my first time eating there. I can't believe it's taken me this long to give them a try. They don't take reservations, and you sign in on a clip board to get on their waiting list. To our surprise, despite the intimidating crowd waiting outside, we were seated in 15 minutes. Their meat loaf loco moco. Holy smokes, that savory goodness has some sorcery in it. I was blown away with the taste of their meatloaf and gravy. So tasty! Also got their lox bagel. Very generous amounts of lox. Needless to say, I'm a fan and will definitely be going back despite a short wait. Our server, wish I caught her name, she was excellent. read more

I actually have a direct answer from a Manager. You have to have the whole party present before they sit you. Unless your parking car in parking lot, you all have to be present to be sat together. Hope this helps you out!! RR-:)

No, they don't. You put your name on a list and wait in line. The wait isn't that long anyways, only about 30 minutes. Once you get called in, you find your table and order.
