Finally made it up here for brunch with my daughter. There was a wait for indoor seating, but there were two seats available at the high top counter, so we sat there. I was impressed by the way they have made it feel like an authentic French cafe in decor, seating, and tables. My daughter had avocado toast, I had Le Pepper Boy breakfast sandwich, and we shared an order of plantains. I ordered a flat white as well as a "Monaco" (lager, grenadine, and lemon soda), which was...interesting. Serviced was great and the food was excellent. I absolutely cannot wait to come back and try dinner here!
There's something undeniably magical about eating at a French bistro in one of the most European-feeling corners of the country. Boston's Back Bay already does a solid Paris impression--Café Sauvage just completes the picture. This place feels every bit like a proper Parisian bistro, and thankfully the food backs it up. The Sauvage Burger absolutely hits the spot. Juicy, well-seasoned, no unnecessary nonsense--and yes, every burger on earth deserves the aioli treatment. This one gets it right. And the fries... let's talk about them. Golden, crisp, perfectly salted. Possibly the best fries I've had in Boston, and that's not a statement I throw around lightly. Atmosphere, execution, flavor--Café Sauvage is a gem. The kind of place you stumble into once and then quietly start recommending to people you trust.
Pretty establishment, noise is moderate and food is fresh and tasty. Small portions for entrees. The Pear chocolate crumble Dessert was ok, not special.
I brought my cousin here on her last visit, and neither of us could forget the experience--so she came back with the whole family, and now they're all obsessed with Café Sauvage. From the moment you walk in to the goodbye, the hospitality is unmatched--genuine smiles and a team that clearly loves what they do. The food is just as memorable: the beef bourguignon is to die for, and the banana toast and Gruyère omelette are hands down some of the best I've had in Boston. Their signature lattes are a must--tried the Ferrero and had to stop myself from ordering another. Even on a packed visit with a large walk-in party (not recommended), they were incredibly accommodating, and the service and food were just as impeccable. Truly a standout spot.
This place is so French, so cute. Most of the staff speak French. The whole aesthetic of the interior is French. The brunch food is excellent! I've never tried their lunch or dinner menu. The brunch menu is so perfectly tailored to my tastes...Croque Madame, Duck Eggs Benedict, and everything comes with a beautiful sharply dressed salad to counter and complement the richness of the dishes. The coffee and tea selections, including specialty coffee drinks, cocktails, and mocktails. We tried the London fog tea (so good!), lavender latte (so good!) and blueberry limeade (delicious!) The service is efficient and friendly. We were a table of 5 in the middle of the tiny restaurant and felt like we were rocks stars. They took very good care of us...making sure we had coffee refills, water refills. Very attentive. Everyone with us loved the food. I usually get the croque madame, but this time I tried the Parisian Omelette which has goat cheese and mushrooms. It was perfectly cooked, with the perfect amount of goat cheese and sautéed mushrooms. I loved it. I have one bit of feedback...the bathrooms could be cleaner, and need some freshening up...paint, new tile. The worn out bathrooms don't match the decor, or the quality of the food and service. Despite this, I will definitely be back.
Cute little French cafe From the get-go, we shared it was a for a wedding, and the waiter gave us a free champagne Ordered several appetizers for the table which included burrata, calamari, spicy green beans, and a charcuterie. Thoroughly enjoyed the calamari. And the spicy green beans were delicious- just thought I would see it in a Chinese restaurant. Nonetheless- delicious! I got the mushroom risotto and my bf got the salmon plate. While I liked the risotto, I felt it was lacking something as a main entree. I would have preferred the salmon For dessert , I got the crème brûlée and that was ok. It was more spongy than flan/smooth/creamy. Overall great place!
Didn't make reservations for a Sunday dinner but they were busy as the restaurant is relatively small but we got seated at the bar which no one sat and got taken care of right away. Menu is straight forward and honestly wish they had more French cuisine offerings, but I was told the cheeseburger with bacon $23 is the go to as it also comes with truffle fries. It was delicious and very cheesy. Nice customer service too.
Sauvage Café is undeniably aesthetically adorable. It's small--very small--but somehow manages to feel thoughtfully designed. No matter where you sit, you're next to something that feels curated and intentional. I ended up at a center-corner spot beside some lush plants with a view of the outdoor decorations. Even though the space is tight, it doesn't feel disjointed. But the tightness is real. The tables are so close that simply getting up or adjusting my jacket had me accidentally knocking things around. One slightly wrong move and something on the table shifts--so just be prepared for that cozy, very compact layout. There were two people working the front, and the man who waited on me was extremely attentive, which I appreciated. I started with a mocktail called "Self-Care." Ironically... it tasted like water. Pretty presentation, but no real flavor to speak of. For food, I ordered the salmon and a meatless charcuterie board. I love that they offer a smaller charcuterie option--it was perfect. I enjoyed all the cheeses, the olives, the bread, and the jam. That part was solid. The salmon, though, was disappointing. Crispy on the outside but unexpectedly cold on the inside, which made the whole dish feel off. It came with a broccoli-and-mushroom mix that was fine, but as someone who's primarily pescatarian, seafood is my main event when dining out--so having the salmon miss the mark really affected the meal. I closed with a coffee and had asked ahead of time about cream and sugar. What I didn't realize was that they only offer raw brown sugar and Splenda--no white sugar. Had I known that, I wouldn't have ordered it. The coffee was wildly strong, and even multiple Splendas couldn't sweeten it to a drinkable level for me. I ended up wasting most of it. Overall, Sauvage Café is a cute, thoughtfully styled space with attentive service and some bright spots on the menu, but the inconsistencies definitely showed during my visit. I'd consider going back to try one or two other dishes, but I'm not in a rush.
We came here on a Sunday morning for brunch with a group of seven people. They opened at 9 o'clock and we got there around 8:45 and there was already other people waiting for a table. They do not take reservations for brunch so you must get there early. The place filled up very quickly. Service was quick. Everyone had some type of coffee and a breakfast entrée. The servings were large the side salad that came with my breakfast sandwich was outstanding and probably the best thing that I eat. My breakfast sandwich was expensive, but there was a lot of egg on it. I had a Madeline on the side, which was a lot for three dollars, but it was very tasty.
Came for brunch on a Friday and it was busy. We did not have reservations and had a short wait. My friend and I both got seasonal non-alcoholic beverages which were delicious. We shared 2 brunch dishes which were tasty and filling. The food came out quicker than expected despite the crowd. Prices are on par with Boston dining but I felt like I got my money's worth. Tables are a bit close together inside but definitely better than sitting outside which seemed noisy from Mass Ave traffic.
Checked out this restaurant around Sunday brunch time without a reservation and the we were told the wait time was about 30 minutes, which was accurate. We got the Duck and Egg Benedict, French Onion Soup, and Filet-o-fish Sandwich. I really enjoyed the Duck and Egg Benedict. It was a lot of duck meat but the sauces and eggs helped the dish from not being too dry. The French Onion Soup had a layer of gruyere on top and said it also had bone marrow, but that was a bit hard to taste. The only issue is that the restaurant is very small and they do pack a lot of people in there so with the small tables and large winter coats, be prepared to get cozy with one another!
Last fall, my friend and I went here for brunch. There was a bit of wait if you wanted to sit indoors so we opted to sit at an outdoor table on the street. I ordered the duck benedict and black sesame latte. The duck benedict came with shredded duck meat, hash browns, and with 2 poached eggs over arugula. It was savory but a bit tangy. The black sesame latte with whipped cream was good.
Rule #1: Never say no to bread. This time, I didn't even get the chance - it just showed up. As it should. Started with the charcuterie board, and that first combo of cheese + jam + warm bread - one of those ratatouille moments. Simple, but exactly right. Then the salad - a little sweetness from the pecans, and somehow going back and forth between that and the charcuterie felt like the right strategy. Service was super solid and attentive without hovering, always around when you needed something. Ordered a Kronenbourg 1664 mid-meal - crisp, slightly sweet, easy to keep sipping. Then the seared salmon came out, topped with shrimp. More seafood with my seafood? Absolutely. Left completely full, finishing off the extra jam as a low-effort dessert. Finally went here for brunch/lunch after walking past it all the time since they opened! Really cute place, feels warm and cozy especially on a sunny but cold windy spring day! Very charming interior with the plants and comfy seating along the wall and the lighting. They are walk in only and do not take reservations so be prepared for a wait. We got there around 1pm on Sunday afternoon and it was full - they said it would be a 1 hour wait. So we put our name down and were just waiting for another friend and standing in the tiny vestibule- and then surprisingly after about 10 minutes were told that 4 spots cleared at the bar!! I ordered the Mamas breakfast- scrambled eggs, toast, no bacon, salad. The eggs were soft and rich cooked in butter no doubt. I asked for jam for my toast and it was a fresh chunky strawberry jam - went great with the buttered toast. Hubs and a friend both got the smoked salmon - seemed a bit light - so I shared my eggs with hubs. Other friend got the eggs Benedict which looked amazing and he really enjoyed it too. They also ordered mimosas - how that comes is they serve a bottle of the alcohol (if you order a bottle that is) and a carafe of the orange juice. Hubs ordered a Ferrero Rocher-tini- which is listed under the Grown Up Coffee section in the drinks menu - it was very decadent! We had a nice leisurely brunch and pretty much closed the place down as they close at 3pm. Got some pics of the place empty too! Service was friendly. We came for brunch after a nice long run at the Charles River. The host was amazing and instantly seated us outside. We had ordered the Madame croquette and also the beef bourguignon sandwich. We also ordered the pistachio cold brew latte and the oversea. Both drinks were really watered down and I was really disappointed because it was watery and flavorless, but I guess I did get my caffeine in the real stars were the entrées. The food portions were huge. It came out relatively quick. We didn't have to wait long my Madame croquette came with a side salad that was likely dressed in some vinaigrette, and it was very refreshing. The meal was delicious. The sandwich was stuffed with a lot of meat. I'm not sure that it was steak it kind of tasted like a chuck roast but still very good, my only critique would be if it could be a little bit more flavorful because it didn't taste like it was braised at all, but we subbed for Parmesan truffle fries, and those were delectable. So far so good would definitely come back for brunch. Maybe I'll just get an Americano next time or stick with water. read more

It gets busy, so plan accordingly. It has options of dining inside or outside. The atmosphere is lively and vibrant. The staff are all very nice and friendly. Ordered from the brunch menu: sauvage mama breakfast, matcha (hot), and saumon fumé. Really delicious and nicely portioned. I definitely would come back again and recommend this for brunch! read more

Eventhough we had to wait 45 mins ; (decided to walk to Fenway park to take pictures meanwhile) , the hostess was very nice and gave us the seats as soon as they were available. Their almond croissant is the best in all Boston ! Food was great and ambiance was nice too read more
Cute little French style breakfast/lunch place near Boston University. Friendly service and some nice menu options. Food was fresh and delicious. Nice indoor and outdoor seating but limited and peak times expect a wait. Enjoyable experience. read more

I've been here for brunch and dinner and most recently their Crêpe night. Their crepes were so delicious and fresh and the cider was great too! I highly recommend cafe sauvage.. the service is amazing, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the food is always great! read more
Steak Frites is one of my all-time go-to dishes because of its simplicity and ability to satisfy with almost every iteration. Cafe Sauvage has an excellent version that reminded me of one of the best examples I had in McMinnville. It had a similar onion mix to top it that accentuated the meat perfectly. The only difference was the sauce, with here being more creamy and MxMinnville being stockier. I'm not sure which I liked better, but it's super difficult to go wrong when it's steak and fries. But this place has to be definitely one of the top 5 examples of this dish I've ever had. read more

This place had a very lovely aesthetic and pretty greenery all over. I got a spritz to start with and it was very pretty. I got the chicken croquette and salmon. The croquette was very crunchy and came with a spice sauce. It was delicious. The salmon melted in your mouth. The service was very friendly and accommodating. My daughter and I had wanted to stop in for quite a while and as luck would have it, we finally made it happen. We went on a typical Saturday around noon and we were quoted 30-45 minutes for a table. Pro tip: I asked the host if the wait applied to the bar seating and apparently it did not (at least for that day) and we got to skip the entire line and immediately got seated -- what a score! The ambience of the cafe is very cozy and cute. Menu leans French with both breakfast and lunch offerings and a pretty creative beverage menu for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. I opted for the Filet-o-Fish sandwich while my daughter went with the Yassa Chicken sandwich. Both of us agreed that we loved the sauces that accompanied our sandwiches and the sandwiches themselves were very moist. Overall, very solid choices. Only thing that was a bit of a surprise was the bill. For a couple of sandwiches with no apps, 2 drinks and a coffee to go, we're not sure how we did it but we racked up a bill over $105, after taxes and tip. Inflation at its finest or just a tad overpriced for a modest lunch? I'll let you decide ;) read more
We had no reservations. We planned to be in Boston only for a few hours and wanted to try some local "Black owned" restaurants. We had to find metered street parking about 2 blocks away but it wasn't too bad. It's a small cute place with indoor outdoor seating.French AfroBeats music playing in the background. Food was delicious. I had a breakfast sandwich on a very fresh croissant. The side salad was so good it almost outshined the sandwich. My family had the waffles with a banana caramel syrup that they said was a 5/5. Service was good. Not many smiling faces but I figured it was due to the heat. I highly recommend this place. read more

I am probably in the minority here when I say that Cafe Sauvage is overhyped. My husband and I visited the cafe on a Tuesday morning. We were immediately greeted and got to pick anywhere to sit as the restaurant wasn't busy. I picked a private little corner where there was a lot of greeneries by the window. To my disappointment, I later found out half the plants were fake. There was also little leg room. My husband wanted outdoor seating but I didn't want to be bothered by the noise pollution outside and cars constantly driving by. I wanted some quiet time. More disappointments ensued. I order the lavender latte, which was overly sweetened. My husband order the salted ice coffee, which turned out watered down. He said he couldn't care for it. The shredded duck egg Benedict was also bland. We asked for smoked salmon to be added to our avocado toast. After reviewing the pictures later, I noticed a moldy tomato. Quality control is a bit lacking. The French onion soup was my favorite. I am not recommending this cafe because there are better French breakfast restaurants in the area. I really wanted to like this cute little cafe, but when more than half what you ordered came out memorable only in a bad way, it's hard to come back any time soon. read more

This place is one of our favorites! The food is always on point! We typically get the Nutella coffee drink, the salad with duck meat. The service is also always on point. The servers legitimately speak French! The ambiance is beautiful/intimate and captures the essence of a petite cafe in France. read more
(A little bit overhyped imo) This cafe is very cute/earthy with lot of indoor plants and has outdoor seating for summer time . I went here for brunch and the food is yummy. A little bit salty for my reference, but it is acceptable. Menu has a lot of options to choose, and luckily everything we have ordered were decent, but definitely expensive for the portion. I like the host, he accommodated my party very quick and professional, however my server is not too friendly, she didn't check on us the whole time we were there. There is no street parking near by, so you might walk a bit if you are driving here. read more
I looked for this place to write a review because the service was impeccable. If you look at my reviews and you will see we are foodies and this place is one of my TOP reviews. The Service..amazing the host. I'm sorry I forgot your name only because I've been all over the place. She was fantastic. We left a nice tip and went back into the restaurant and said thank you, just because she was that great. I think she was from an African country because she has a deep accent however beautiful person. I asked for tea and honey because my voice was going and she came with it all to help my voice. Lemon, angel things idk, just everything that would help. My wife enjoyed her drinks, the food and dessert was impeccable. We sat outside where we sat with a music artist Riley Krisch. It was just a lovely day at a beautiful restaurant and meet some cool people and food was fantastic. Will return, will recommend, awesome experience. Thank you to your whole staff read more
The croque madame I had was delicious. Then I had an iced coffee and an espresso martini - they know how to make their drinks! I would definitely come again to try more of their coffees and cocktails. The only slight issue was that we made a reservation, but had to wait about another 25 minutes for a table, because the people inside were still sitting at the tables even though they paid. It's one of those places that they don't make you leave immediately after paying, so everyone is taking their time, so it is a calm and relaxing vibe inside. The staff was also kind in letting us know that once people got up, we would get the next table immediately. It's a great brunch spot. read more

Best brunch that I have had in Boston since I lived here almost two years ago! There was no reservations left for brunch but we went anyway, got our names on the waitlist (was told 35 minutes) and got a text 15 mins later to say our table was ready! The interior was nice and cozy, not too over crowded so you can have a conversation and hear the other person! We got a pastry basket to share and we also ordered the croque madame and the mama breakfast! The pastries were warm and one of the nicest croissants I've had in Boston! The mains were delicious! Friend took us to brunch here on our last day in Boston. We didn't have reservations and ended up having nearly an hour long wait on a Friday morning around 10am because the place was packed with a line. Unfortunately it was too cold for patio dining. The inside was pretty small, so I can see why seating might be difficult. For the most part, brunch was worth the wait! The service was great, but the pricing was a little high for what the food was. I got a hibiscus mimosa which was pretty average - tasty, but not particularly unique or super flavorful. My friend got the G&T which actually was better than average. I got the crepes and a side of truffle fries because for me, brunch is all about the sweet and savory. Both were absolutely delicious, but the crepes were small for the price. You could definitely taste the truffle in the fries in the best way. Some of the best truffle fries in my opinion! I would consider going back with reservations for sure but not sure I would wait an hour for seating again. read more
Food: Solid with some hits and some misses. The Croissant breakfast sandwich was stellar, crispy croissant and filling packed full of flavor. I was a bit disappointed by the Pulled Yassa Chicken, which we got on the side. The flavor was a little underwhelming and the chicken was a tad overcooked. 1. Croissant Breakfast Sandwich - 5/5 2. The vibe was cute but it was also very overstimulating because it was busy and so tight in there. I wish I could actually hear my bf talking to me. Service was fine, the food was just okay, lacked flavor but they do get points for being able to seat us quickly when we were told an hour + wait for several places we attempted before here. My bf got the steak and eggs and it was really chewy, not worth the $. The breakfast sandwich was okay. the fries were the best part honestly. read more
