I really enjoyed the taro mochi tiramisu, the mochi texture inside was a delight. The pistachio berry tiramisu was a bit too sour, but it was still delicious. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The one thing is that the tiramisu cakes are on the pricier side, but I think it's still definitely worth a visit. read more

We found this place on instagram and tried for the first time. They had so many varieties of Tiramisu and inside the cafe is so cute! Since they were going BOGO for their grand opening offer, we had the Earl gray chestnut tiramisu and Taro mochi tiramisu. They were both delicious and we loved them! seeing cafe 2by2 all over my instagram feed, i wasn't sure how crowded the cafe would be, so we decided we would go at opening (11:00 AM) on a saturday in december. we showed up a few minutes prior to opening and were very confused that the whole cafe was pitch black. there was no signage as to the shop being closed that day or something happening. we waited a few minutes and watched as others poked their heads at the front as well. eventually, we decided to go grab lunch elsewhere. we ended up returning about an hour later and the cafe was open. as i ordered, i asked them what time they opened and they said 11. i said oh huh ... i was here at opening but the place was pitch black. they said oh ... well sometimes we get in at 11:15. that was certainly an interesting response for me to hear. i get that things can happen, especially in a city like new york where transportation is certainly less than reliable. however, i hope that was more of a one time occurrence than something that happens frequently. at the time we arrived, most of the flavors were still unavailable though i think you could ask for it and they'd have to go get it in the back (not entirely sure as we didn't want to make a fuss about it). we ended up getting the taro mochi tiramisu, seeing that there seemed to be a lot of them and presumably is one of the more popular flavors. the cake was a good level of sweetness and had decent texture (aka not too dry) however, at $13.95 a slice, the price was fairly steep. i would definitely be interested in trying their other flavors (there are so many!) if i were in the area, but i would probably not go out of my way to do so. the space is very cute though we got our slice to-go so didn't get to experience the seating area! read more

The flavors are all very appealing and picturesque (perfect for social media), but I was initially unsure if I'd consider them tiramisu just because they were layered and cut into squares. Surprisingly, the two we tried did read tiramisu to our palates and we thought they lived up to the hype: + Seaweed Pork Floss Taro Tiramisu ($13.95): I love a savory/sweet combo and the pork floss was the perfect complement to the creaminess. Would definitely reorder. + Oreo Mochi Tiramisu ($13.95): Love the addition of the mochi layer in this one and true to being an Asian dessert spot, this struck the perfect balance between Oreo but not too sweet. Very aptly named, CAFE 2BY2 seats mostly parties of 2 with a total of 14 small tables (I think only one was a 4 seater in the very back). If you're dining in, simply grab an empty table and scan the QR code to order online. (Note: The cafe is up a flight of stairs, so not stroller/wheel chair accessible.) My only complaint is that after tax, each piece of tiramisu comes out to $15+ (not including tip). So although good, I can't see myself frequenting often because of the price tag. read more

Came here with a friend for a quick sweet treat after lunch. Decided to stay because it was so well decorated inside (& air conditioning!). It was pretty quiet with a couple groups of friends and the staff were very nice. I would come back for the berry tiramisu and to try some of the other sweets. I probably wouldn't get the strawberry Matcha again for two reasons. It was very difficult to mix and the Matcha wasn't very strong. So if I drank from the bottom, I only got strawberry, and if I drank from the top, I got milk with the hint of Matcha. They had so many unique tiramisu flavors that we wanted to try - ended up going with the taro pork floss as well as the matcha. Both were not too sweet and very light. I came in with a friend around 2pm. The cafe was really busy but luckily we had a seat. we ordered separately from the same qr code (qr code menu). The service seemed faster for other tables in comparison to ours and my friend was able to get her cake (peach lychee tiramisu). However after waiting for a while my tiramisu never came. I had to talk to the staff about it because for some reason my order did not show up on their end despite me having an email receipt and charge on my credit card. They did however give me the cake and gave it to me as pick up rather than dine in like I asked for. There's not a lot of seating and the area is somewhat small. It is nicely decorated though. Each tiramisu cake was the same price ($13.95) and it's $15.19 with tax. The tiramisus were very light and not too sweet at first. I had the pandan coconut tiramisu which had some coconut flakes and was very airy but eating it over time was very sweetening for me (I'm more of a savory person), I'd recommend ordering some savory food to eat the cake with. The lychee one had very fresh lychee with it and was additionally airy and also good flavor. These aren't really tiramisu but rather just cake. It is so rare that you find a spacious spot with plenty of seating, tables and a reasonably priced menu in the St Marks area. Most of the bubble tea places here are standing room only and fail to offer a reprieve for your weary New Yorker feet. Upon entering, you're greeting by an ordering kiosk, soft lighting, beautiful floral arrangements, and an inviting space with a chill playlist. During my first visit here, I had the yuzu matcha which was admittedly not my cup of tea. It was too sour for me, lacking any milk or sugar to temper the strong yuzu flavor. My second time here, I ordered the Camellia lemon tea, a floral, refreshing drink that quenched my thirst immediately. They also have some beautiful fruit desserts. Their tiramisus are made with fresh fruits like lychee and durian. I highly recommend the lychee peach tiramisu, a memorable dessert made exquisitely. The delicate sponge of the cake combined with the lychee cream just melts in your mouth, creating an experience like eating a cloud. This unique combination of flavors won me over immediately. We originally wanted the berry tiramisu but they were out, so we went with the Oreo tiramisu. It was very delicious and softer than we expected. Lovely seating, lovely concept, lovely staff but the execution left something to be desired because after trying four flavors I realized essentially three of the four flavors I tried had identical bases and just different toppings. I wish there had been more chocolate flavor interspersed into the chocolate tiramisu except for there being just the hard shell on top. It looked like MAYBE the lady fingers had been soaked in something chocolatey because they looked darker than the ones in the others but it didn't taste that way at all. The sea salt caramel one and the mango were the best of the four and the former had a flavor similar to a melted werthers original hard Candy. It was clear by the color and taste of the cream there had been a distinctly salted caramel/toffee/butterscotch flavor mixed into the cream whereas the others had not. The strawberry syrup overtop was a little too sweet but the tartness of the strawberries did help with it a bit. The mango was bright and fresh and lovely. The chocolate magnum was a bit of a letdown (because the base was just regular cream and not chocolatey at all) They were all super super light and you can definitely eat two on your own. There's a bathroom, plenty of seating, and free WiFi. I do have to say 15 dollars for one slice is ridiculously expensive. We got the BOGO which is why we got so many but for 15 for each I wouldn't spend the money again. Wishing the business all the best and I do hope they make some improvements with the tiramisus! Such fun tiramisu flavors! I got the earl grey chestnut and the pandan coconut flavors. Firstly, these were absurdly expensive for what they were in my opinion. For those 2 slices, I ended up paying a smidge over $30. I was a little flabbergasted given their size, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Sadly, neither of them blew me away. They were delicious, but nothing remarkable. The pandan coconut was so reminiscent of a Vietnamese pandan birthday cake so I enjoyed the nostalgia of it. The earl grey chestnut was good, but the earl grey flavor didn't really come through at all. Upon closer inspection, there was some sort of thin earl grey layer towards the bottom of the cake, whilst the top had a chestnut cream. The chestnut flavor was good, but almost too subtle. I enjoy sweets immensely and appreciate their plethora of fun flavors, but I'd be hesitant to return given the price. Went here on a Saturday and it was very crowded. Overall experience was decent, and the ambience was clean. The place is much smaller than expected but it is bright (not much natural sunlight due to the area and building itself). There are 2 tables near the window at the front and more seating towards the back. Also note this place is located on the second floor, you would need to walk up the stairs. I don't think it is wheelchair accessible (?) since I saw someone carrying a baby carriage down the stairs. The QR scan code at the table didn't work for me, it showed the menu but you're not able to place an order...so you would need to order using the tablet at the register. The customers seated before me didn't know where to leave their dishes so they left it at the table. So I placed their stuff at the counter, which wasn't noticed or cleared up even after I left. Onto the food, we got 2 tiramisu---Earl grey chestnut and banana cinnamon (which is their new item). Both tiramisu were delicious, Earl grey was more delicate and subtle and not too sweet (which is a plus in my book). The banana cinnamon was also yummy, though I think it would be good if they specified if there were apples because people may have allergies. For context, I usually avoid traditional cakes, but I love tiramisu and ice cream cakes--so this was a huge letdown. There was no trace of mascarpone's richness or the coffee-soaked ladyfingers tiramisu is known for. It felt like a tiramisu-SHAPED cake, not the real deal. I'd waited 40+ minutes because they were still preparing the batch, which I didn't mind--but the disappointment hit hard when I took the first bite. The staff seemed to be working diligently, so I'm adding a star for their effort, but I left feeling sadder than when I arrived.
