I went to cafe 410 for the first time on Mother's Day with a few girlfriends, I was pleasantly surprised by the attentive staff, very clean and modern atmosphere- love the huge bright floral murals on the walls - beautiful! I don't usually do buffets because I n eat as much as the price usually is, but it was definitely worth it - the food was very good. I loved that they served my champagne in it's own small bottle, I made a mamosa with a little bit of guava juice - so darn good! read more

Plantation Cafe is a little breakfast buffet connected to the Ala Moana Hotel... Located just outside the main lobby. I ate at Plantation Cafe during one of my stays at the Ala Moana Hotel. I took advantage of their "Kama'aina Special," which included the breakfast buffet with a booking. The food selection at Plantation Cafe is huge! It is definitely not your typical "hotel continental breakfast." The bacon was hot and crispy, and they even had a waffle machine with toppings! Their hours and dining space are very limited. When I waddled down from my hotel room, still half asleep, there was a long line formed out the door to the host desk. I waited for about 15 minutes before getting to the front of the line and was told that there would be a wait for a table. Instead, I opted to take-out so that I could eat in my room. I loaded up my take-out container with a little of everything. They even gave me a to-go cup to fill with pineapple juice. Stopped here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. $18.50 is pricey but if I compare it to spending $15-25 (including tip) at other local breakfast spots getting 2 things and a coffee this is a deal. I was expecting typical weak coffee too but it was flavorful! I think they said it was Starbucks brand. Definitely the best place when visiting Waikiki without the Waikiki prices! I had to stay on a short overnight while sorting some buainess. I can't believe the value of this restaurant. It was probably the most memorable meal of my whole vacation. If any of you are in the area I wholeheartedly recommend everyone on vacation in Hawaii stop and eat here. I was afraid to even eat here after reading all these horrendous 1 and 2 star reviews, but my mom had a voucher for 2 free breakfasts and I pretended to sleep in so they would just go ahead without us but she INSISTED on dining here. First off, this is a restaurant in the Ala Moana Hotel. This is not a destination breakfast place. Translation: the only people that should be eating here are the people sleeping in the rooms upstairs. This is your typical hotel breakfast buffet. Bacon, portuguese sausage, eggs, potatoes, benedict, Belgian waffles, pastries, fruit section, dry cereal..I mean c'mon what else are you looking for? Belgian waffles: true, these are cold, but there is a sign that says you have to put them in the toaster to make them hot and crispy. This actually makes them crispier and hotter than if they were all pre made. Fruit: the fruits were fresh and sweet, no complaints. PRICE: Is it expensive? Hell yeah. For $16 you can get way better breakfast at a number of places within walking distance. (Aloha Kitchen, Cinnamon's at the Ilikai, Longhi's, Goofy's Cafe, and even Shorebird has the $15 AYCE breakfast every day which has a carving station.) But hey we got two Sunday morning papers with our breakfast, and inside that paper were lots of great coupons for other places we can eat at. read more

Located near the entrance the defunct Rumours Nite club in the Ala Moana Hotel. The Plantation Cafe is geared toward hotel guests. You get a free breakfast buffet for each day you stay. The price of the buffet is around $19. The make your own waffle station is great. Simple to operate and in three minutes you have a crispy and tender waffle. Toppings include whipped butter, maple syrup and strawberries in a syrup. Scramble eggs and bacon was served the two days we came to the buffet. They had a mini omelet on one day and eggs Benedict on the next day. Link sausage one day and Scottish bangers the next. The fried rice was better than most places. This item also is rotated. Papaya was one of four items on the fresh fruit station. Bagels and breads on another station. The service was excellent. We had the same server both days. He remember our coffee preferences and brought it to us as soon as we sat down. Selections on the buffet my be limited but they made it up with taste, cleanliness and good service. read more

Took my mom, grandmother and her friend here on a Wednesday morning. I wanted to take them here to breakfast, since we were heading to the shopping center right right after and I had a good experience my first time here. My mom and I debated on going here since we were leaving Wahiawa before 9:00am and we would arrive there before closing, meaning we wouldn't have much time to enjoy our food (Plantation Cafe closes at 10:00am). My mom and I decided to chance it and just go. We see one of the employees passing by outside and asked if they were still open and she said yes! We were excited and were greeted by two friendly hostesses after helping the customer in front of us. The following foods that they had: Cold Items: Orange & Guava Juice, Milk, Assorted Fruits (Honeydew Melon, Watermelon, Papaya, Cantaloupes and Sliced Apples with Li Hing Mui Powder) , Make Your Own Yogurt with choice of Strawberry or Vanilla, Assorted Pastries, Assorted Cereals. Hot Items: Steamed White Rice, Scrambled Eggs, Link Sausage, Bacon, Poached Egg with Country Gravy, French Toast with Condiments, Biscuits with Condiments, Toast with Condiments. Overall, the food was good. Although for the Make Your Own Yogurt, I would've liked to see more fruit variety, perhaps berries. The only fruits they had were the Cantalope and Honeydew Melon, which were already in the line but chopped. Other than that, awesome customer service! The employees are very friendly; greeted us and said goodbye as we left. They have a pretty decent breakfast buffet. Ate here twice since I had some delayed flight vouchers to spare. Overall, I wouldn't mind eating here again. For $14.99, you get everything in the buffet and of $10.99, you are limited to the cold items. Needless to say, I sprang fro the full buffet both times. I don't eat much, so the small plates were fine by me. It might bother others though. There were scrambled eggs, another special egg dish each day, bacon, sausage, hash browns, home fries, fresh fruit (papaya, pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, & honey dew), french toast, waffles, cereals, juices, and lots of baked goods. This is our go-to breakfast spot when we have a morning event in town to attend. It's super convenient since Comic Con events are always right across the street at the Convention Center and collectible fairs are often held right at the Ala Moana Hotel ballrooms. We actually look forward to it because we know that we'll leave happy and satisfied. I like the breakfast choices because they've got a little bit of everything from sweet to savory. We love the buttery eggs and the fried rice here is awesome. They've got cereal and milk, fruits, pastries and even miso soup. They pit out quality bread for toast and quality jelly (not the cheap Smuckers packets). We've never had bad service and, aside from the wait to be seated when there's a lot of people, we could always count on fast service once we get started. A lot of the servers have been there for a long time so they become familiar faces. The kitchen staff is constantly putting out fresh pans of food and making sure the beverages are full. Wish they had bigger glasses for the beverages because going back 5 times to refill sucks and standing at the OJ dispenser just to fill, chug, then repeat is ghetto. 8 oz glasses please!!! 4 oz quasi-shot glasses ain't cutting it! Prices are pretty reasonable too. It'll run us roughly $50-something for our little family of four. For a buffet, that's a steal. I visited the Plantation Cafe with the family twice while staying at the Ala Moana and both experiences were (as Yelp says) A-OK. No fixed menu, just the buffet. The buffet has a fair number of choices, I just would have preferred some more hot items given the price (now $16.50, FYI) for the full buffet. Some of the meat items are piled way too high in their chafing dish to stay warm, though I was able to successfully capture some chewy (not crispy, yuck) bacon from the mound. The waffles do need to be toasted, which is fine in itself, but the toaster they have there is from the inaugural season of "Wheel of Fortune" and takes an eternity to warm them. However, when they are warmed, they are tasty with butter and your choice of either maple syrup or coconut syrup (so the coconut route, that crap is expensive!) and butter to top it with. Host staff is friendly and wait staff is quick with the coffee refills. Oh, and try the guava juice, it's lip-smackingly delicious! read more

The price of the buffet was about medium and some people would usually expect not over $20 for breakfast although it does have nice setting and decor. My husband and I are frequent breakfast customers at this place! The gentleman who checks us "in" is very friendly and he remembers repeated customers! If you are a hotel guest or senior citizen (discount), make sure and let the "hostess" know. Their buffet breakfast is "OK", but, it's an ideal place to go if you are visiting! I usually come here whenever I'm staying at the Ala Moana Hotel. Conveniently located on the lobby floor, sort of outside of the entrance. I'd only recommend coming here if you are staying at the Ala Moana Hotel, like breakfast, and have no other place to go. The place serves as an all-you-can-eat buffet. Some of the usual items include rice, bacon, yogurt, bread to toast, biscuit, fruits, potatoes, sausages, French toast (you have to toast it...) and other items that sometimes rotate. The quality of the food however is not so great. I guess it's almost like it's been out for a while or that they don't really make some of the food from scratch, like the French toast... The service is alright. I know they do their best to serve, like refill drinks, get coffee or tea, etc. But not much else. Again not much else to this place. I only recommend if you are staying at the Ala Moana Hotel and want breakfast but have nowhere else to go. read more

After a harrowing flight experience with our plane taking off, flying for 30 minutes, almost falling out of the sky, then returning to Honolulu (thanks, American Airlines!), I was put up for the night in the Ala Moana by the airline. The free breakfast we got from the airline, down at the Ala Moana's restaurant was. . . well, it was freaking terrible. I know I shouldn't be complaining about anything that was free, but I had to wait 20+ minutes to be seated, the food was cold and dry, and the wait staff was about as grumpy as anybody could be. The crazy lady said, "you are so rude, why won't you help me". She then proceeded to slam things about in the buffet around and plopped down in your seat with a huge thud banging things about. She yelled from across the dining area at a gentleman who was apparently looking at her..."you, turn around. I don't like to be looked at". Needless to say this led to a gentleman (mind you NO ONE from the establishments staff) to ask what her deal was. She said she was sorry for her outburst but she has bi polar disorder. They guy pays his bill and leaves. I put my things together and get up to leave. FROM ACROSS THE ROOM, the woman says "I am sorry If I upset you". I say "Yes you did, You ruined everyone's breakfast with your angry outbursts". She said "I have Bi Polar". I said "We all have our issues, but that gives you no excuse to be rude". Okay people, you don't know me. So I will let you in on a bit of my personality; I am fairly laid back and would most certainly not get involved most of the time. This was just so unbelievable that it really came flying out of my mouth. On my way out the Hostess thanked me for saying something. Which irritated me even further. As the staff of this establishment I am under the impression that they should be providing diners with an enjoyable experience. NOT ONE STAFF MEMBER said ANYTHING to this person. The Plantation Café buffet is only open for breakfast and serves fresh fruit, juices, pastries, eggs, waffles, breakfast meats, chef's specials, great coffee and is fairly priced considering the variety and volume. The server named Kathy is exceptional, for she is very attentive and has a cheery and positive attitude which helps the day get off to a great start. I was always sure to ask to sit in her zone. Conversely, the server named Eddie has a sour disposition and I even heard him yelling at patrons that there was no more coffee to be had after 10 A.M. I called him the "Coffee-Nazi," because he reminded me of Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi," i.e., "No more coffee forrr yew!" read more

The food is great, well-stocked, and the staff is super nice and helpful. But...the price for non-hotel patrons is $16. As great as the food was, I can't give this place a full 5 stars for costing more than the appetizer menu at the upscale restaurant at the top of the attached hotel. Liked that it was right by hotel. Was convenient to get to from room. However, for 16 dollars this buffet lacked much. Coffee and juice was average. Scrambled eggs at buffet were undercooked and slimy looking. Their was no option for any other breakfast meat other than pork. Would have been good to have a turkey sausage or kosher option. Fruit bar was fresh and yogurt bar was good. Customer service was good. Overall, it felt more like a continental breakfast bar though. There was a cereal bar. Who us going to pay 16 dollars for cereal? And you had to put your waffle in the toaster to heat it up. Felt much like a fancied up continental breakfast. Not what I'd expect for 16 dollars.
