Cafe 86 is Ube everything and I loved it! It's refreshing to see a popular bakery streamline such an underrated flavor and incorporate it into both Filipino and American favorites. The cheesecake was good, but the tres leches was my favorite! The Ube milk tea was good but I definitely recommend getting a different flavor if you are getting a drink just so that you are not overloading on the Ube. First time trying Cafe 86 and tried the Ube Monster milkshake. This Yelp review is basically based on the Ube Monster Milkshake because, it's soooo good! It has the right amount of Ube taste and the Oreo Crumbs makes it much more tastier. Their service was okay. There's some tables, couches, and chairs so it's a great place to chill and do homework. Loved the interior decor and menu screen although I wished it was more bigger to show more drinks. However, the cons was the Boba not tasting fresh and the lack of honey on the boba. Price was extremely high at $9.41. Service was okay, it could be better as the cashier seemed a bit rude the first time I went. I haven't tried any other drinks but if the boba didn't taste good then, I'm not comfortable venturing outside of the Ube Monster. Best Filipino pastries in town! Love their leche flan and ube cupcake, but their ube crinkles and ube truffle are amazing!! Also like their variety of calamansi drinks! My sister and I both opted for the mini halo halo. Three different customers placed their orders AFTER us (one even placed an order on the self serve kiosk) and they received their orders BEFORE us! We are currently STILL waiting for our drinks.... 35 minutes have passed and we finally received our halo halos The halo halo was sweet, tasty and delicious...but the time it took to make it, I expected it to be mind blowing. If you decide to come here, place your order on the kiosk, you'll probably get faster service than we did. :/ There is an ample amount of seating but the first table we sat at was full of crumbs and a bit sticky. This is my go to spot when I'm in the area but they moved a bit further from their original location in Chino. This is the only spot I can get the Ube drink made perfectly and from time to time I'll get the halo halo with ube ice cream (yum) So many desserts to choose from and looks like they have food now too (which I haven't had a chance to try) It's a bit pricey but worth it to me, so if you don't like spending $ for desserts at least try this place once and I think you'll change your mind. Some places only look good in pictures but this place tasted BETTER than the pictures! On Friday around 5pm this place was pretty busy but there was still seating available. The menu was a little confusing so we had to use pictures on yelp to help navigate the options and the worker was also able to tell us what was what. We got the regular halo halo and the upside down halo halo. The regular halo halo had a brown sugar base with whole milk and condensed milk as well as a scoop of ube Ice cream and a slice of flan. The upside down halo halo has ube blended into the base and has a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a slice of flan instead. Both were sooo good but my favorite was the upside down one. Also still at 5pm they had plenty of snack options. I wish I could've got the ube leche flan cupcake but if we added it on with two drinks it would've been a little pricey. My halo halo dreams came true! I only tried halo halo once at the 626 night market, but this one was by far superior. It was tastyyyy. Milky flavor and ube ice cream with sweet corn flakes and flan topper were my fav parts. I liked that overall, it was finely blended. There were some round ice cubes at the end that seemed weird, but I'm not sure what authentic halo halo is like--maybe they are meant to keep it cold? Boba was average, and ?cherry and ?lime jello were harder than I prefer (but maybe that's how it is supposed to be?) I'd come back if I was craving halo halo. The ambience is fun, with trendy decor, random star wars figures, and eclectic music (get ur freak on indie cover?). Bumped up to 5 stars overall due to superb customer service: I was so sad when I had relied on their website expanded hours (which apply in a week), so showed up a little too early this morning, but whoever manages their insta account graciously responded to my concern :). More like a 3.5, but I'm rounding up. I've been wanting to try this place for years and glad that I was able to do so finally! Plenty of parking in the plaza. There was a decent line when we went on a Saturday evening, but it didn't take us too long to get our order. Interior is kinda hipster-y, but comfy and a nice place to lounge around and relax in. There's some sofa couches there with a coffee table and a mini library to borrow books from. We got the: 1) Ube Truffle: -Had to get this since it's always popped up on their recommended menu offerings. -It's a super moist ube cake truffle mixed with coconut cream cheese frosting, dipped in white chocolate, rolled in Oreo crumbs. -Think of it like a light ube cake pop. Not as dense as other truffles that I have had before. -Couldn't really taste the white chocolate, but there was a hint of coconut. Not bad! 2) Ube Monster Milkshake: -It's an ube milkshake with Oreo cookie crumbs. -Definitely more of a dessert than a drink. -Much more coconut flavored than ube flavor, but it's still there but slightly. -I ordered with no boba, but got some. It's alright with this addition, but I wouldn't get it personally since it already makes a dense dessert drinks much more denser. (I'm just very picky) my drink was the sea salt coffee and it was good but I didn't taste like sea salty like I would have expected. The affogato espresso is literally as it sounds, nothing else. First time at this location and I looove it. The staff are nice and the decorations are so awesome --- especially for anyone who loves Star wars. Its small but cozy. I like LECHE FLAN with lots of syrup or in my halo halo UBE BUTTER BARS - if you've ever tasted ube halaya from the Philippines, that's basically it on top. A bit nostalgic. HALO HALO BREAD PUDDING - had to try it, but I've never been a big fan of bread pudding. The Ube ice cream is always delicious though. And it helps when you warm up the bread pudding first. UPSIDE DOWN UBE HALO HALO - this isn't a traditional Filipino halo halo but those who don't like the beans and other parts of the traditional halo halo will like it. I even ordered extra flan yum. Our friend knew I loved halo halo so recommended this place. Their halo halo is more of a smoothie than an icy dessert. My daughter and husband liked it more than I did because I don't like coconut, and the coconut flavor was VERY strong. However, we both agreed that it was pricey. We both prefer the other dessert versions (from like chowking and jollibee's) because the smoothie can get pretty heavy. We enjoyed the crunch of the corn flakes on top, but I wish they had beans inside the drink too. It was missing a lot of the textures from the toppings that I am used to for a Halo Halo. Probably closer to 3.5 (based on my husband's rating) and 2 for me, so I averaged the two star ratings. The decor was interesting. They had a painting of an '86 and trueno related decor, but then also star wars decor? The cashier was super nice. I remember ordering the classic milk tea and the little ube pastries with flan on top. Super good and something unique! I visited again a few days ago and I feel like their quality has gone down. I ordered the same thing, the classic (or house, I just don't recall the name) milk tea with boba. I'm not sure why they only offer large for this drink. I tried to order a regular size and she said they can only do large for the milk tea. The boba didn't taste very fresh, it was kind of hard. The ube pastry with flan on top was very dry. So many people have recommended this place to us & we finally had the chance to go! The menu is a little hectic because I had to keep asking the guy at the register "what exactly is this drink" but I mean, I guess they don't mind explaining over & over again. He recommended the mermaid drink & so that was what I went with and my husband got the ube milk tea. We also got an ube butter bar & the flan cupcakes. Ok the flan on top of the cupcake? Delicious. 3.5 Stars! If you're a fan of ube, Cafe 86 is definitely a place you'll want to check out for all the ube goodies. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by a glass case of assorted baked goods from their Ube Flan Cupcakes and Milo Cupcakes to their Ube Truffles. I ultimately decided on their Ube Bread Pudding ($5.45) and their Ube Butterbar ($3.99) as these two desserts were calling my name. I passed on their drinks, but Cafe 86 also has a pretty expansive and yummy sounding drink menu if you're interested. The Ube Bread Pudding which is served with a scoop of ube ice cream on the side was decent. It was a bit too "bready" for me, but I enjoyed the uniqueness of the dessert and actually tasted a lot more coconut flavor over the ube. The Ube Butterbar was also solid although I wish the ube flavor was more prominent. I also do wish the portions were a bit larger as both desserts were on the smaller end in my opinion. It could have just been the slices I received though, as I did see some other larger sliced portions of goodies in the case. While both desserts were not bad at all, they are probably not something I would necessarily order again. I'd be curious to try some of their other desserts if I happened to be in the area next time though and I do love their focus on all things ube! read more

But also would not get this again. 2) Ube Truffles: it was abit tasteless? Like buttery and smooth but not too much taste? Maybe it was because i tried it after the ube cheesecake, but it's not something I would go back for. 3) Ube Cheesecake: really cloying, the cheesecake was rly creamy like cream cheese. If you've become addicted to ice coffee, desserts, and just all things coffee, then this quaint, rustic, comfy and delicious spot is for u.bae! Inside feels warm, welcoming, rustic & thought out. Our almost 2 year old boy felt comfortable enough to sit with me inside as we waiting for our order. There are 2 couches and a few bench seats with a table top. There's an outdoor bench and I loved that they've utilized all the seating space they muster up. And there's 1 gender neutral public restroom for use. We came in on a Sunday night, minutes before closing and the workers treated us very kind, patiently and attentive. Every drink sounded like my next favorite one, especially the coffees. I ended up getting the hibiscus calamansi, lightly sweetened and it was super refreshing. I also got the ube/leche flan cupcake and ube bar. Both were delicious in its own way.
