I was soooo happy when I went to lunch with a friend at a nearby local spot and she asked if I wanted dessert after. I can NEVER turn down dessert! We decided to head here, and get this, I know, I've NEVER had ube before. WILD RIGHT!?! I still can't believe it. And what an introduction. Upon entering, this spot is so adorable. Right now, they are closed for in-dining, but I wish they would open because this would be my ultimate work spot. Again, I totally understand keeping everyone safe so I do appreciate what they're doing. You can still go in and order your drinks and treats so that's what we did! And just took em to go! Since I had never had ube before, I had to try multiple things, and I knew I needed to bring it home to my husband so he could try some. I also go a vanilla latte to go, and that was so delicious! Definitely enjoyed the energy boost that provided me in the afternoon! Now, as for the treats... WOW! The ube was uuuuuuuber fantastic! I got the truffles, the cupcake with flan on top, and the cheesecake. I wish I got a chance to try the cheesecake one, but I made the mistake of only getting one of those and two of everything else. My husband gobbled it down and I didn't even get to try haha! He was obsessed!! The truffles.... OMG! I can't. They were so incredibly delicious. Probably the best I've ever had. During COVID-19: Whenever I'm in Las Vegas, this is my take-home pastry spot. I live for pasalubong- or souvenirs- like pastries and candies, especially to bring back home. And Cafe 86 is the perfect place for that, especially when seeking for those nostalgic Filipino flavors... with a twist! Its progressive uses of ube as a truffle, brownie, or bread pudding is genius. This SoCal Filipino bakery in the desert brings all kinds of joy full of ube flavored sweets. They also have flavors of iced calamansi tea and halo halo. Their signature "Skyflake" cookies are a nice homage to the Filipino cracker, however, they are a chocolate chip with marshmallows cookie. I've also had their Skyflake wafer but am not sure if it was a test run or not since I have not seen it ever since visiting this location. It tasted like a sans rival wafer or a silvana without the cream. *If you guys still make this, this is a must to try even if it's so simple! Probably even better with coffee. Overall, if you're in Vegas, a trip out of the strip to Cafe 86 is a must, especially if you're seeking Filipino or ube pastries not in the realm of traditional Filipino snacks. Ube heaven! There were so many ube-flavored sweets & drinks! The ube crinkle cookies were so good & extra chewy. For those of you that enjoy matcha and cookies and cream, please do yourself a favor and order a matcha monster milkshake (very delicious!). Parking: super easy with plenty in a shared lot. Ambiance: slightly dimmed with mostly natural lighting from shaded glass walls. They have a few tables that would make for a great study spot. I wish I had kept my receipt, but to the young lady who worked today (04/18), you were phenomenal! A friend and I went in today to get a silly lil treat, and we both loved what we ordered. Her, a dark chocolate vanilla coffee. Me, and inside down halo halo. We split the ube Tres leches. We both loved our drinks, but I loved mine more. It was so delicious! I've been coming to this location for a couple years, and if you're Filipino, IYKYK! I have to say that I was blown away by the amazing treats and drinks they always offer! Their menu had a great variety of traditional Filipino sweets and drinks, as well as some unique items that I had never tried before. This time around, I ordered the Peach Mango tea (thinking about jollibee) it was good, not too sweet! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and making sure that I was satisfied with my order. I love visiting here because of how spacious it is alongside the moody lighting and good music. If you love the taste of unique ube desserts and Filipino inspired drinks - you won't be disappointed! There's currently no inside dining but that's fine Cafe 86 drinks and desserts are one word... amazing! They have so many great selections it's hard to choose just one. Las Vegas weather hit triple digits today: 100 degrees!! Mood: Halo Halo (aka Filipino Shave Ice) Cafe 86 came highly recommended by Nadine C., my fellow Yelp friend from Honolulu! So, when she tagged me on a few Ube photos from their Instagram page, the cravings began and I had to visit the cafe sooner than later. As of 6/2/20, the cafe is operating Contactless! So, Pre-orders only, which means customers need to place their orders via the website or by phone. Walk-ins are still required to phone in their order. We ordered the Signature Halo Halo and Upside Down Halo Halo from the milkshake menu. I wondered why it was listed that way until I saw it in person. Yep, it is made like a milkshake! Unlike the traditional icy dessert (shave ice consistency), the base is blended and creamier. There's also boba and frosted flakes, in addition to the typical jellies and jackfruit, which was a nice surprise, but a bit unusual for me TBH. Nevertheless, I finished it all! And it's a pretty tall serving, so at $6.99, I thought it was a pretty good value. I'd love to come back once the cafe is fully open, so I can peruse the display case and order something new! I tried Cafe 86 for the first time yesterday evening. First, the AC wasn't working and it was too hot inside. However, the guys at the counter were friendly and worked to get everyone's orders done. I am very particular when it comes to being able to taste ube. Overall I was disappointed in most of the goods we tried. 1. Ube crinkle cookies: soft, chewy texture, not too sweet and subtle ube flavor that works for this item. So far, it's the only ube crinkle cookie in Vegas I would eat again. 2. Ube butter bar: very bland and really needs more flavor, filling was creamy and crust was buttery. 3. Ube truffle: ube flavor is subtle and could use more, however it's the oreo coating that conflicts with ube flavor. In my opinion, the combination of chocolate and ube do not work well together. 4. Ube leche flan cupcake: cupcake was moist with ube flavor and leche flan tasted decent. However, I don't prefer eating both together. I think the cupcake should stand alone (maybe a light ube glaze or a thin layer of whipped cream cheese frosting). 5. Ube pop tart: Bland and lacks enough ube flavor. The pastry was good, flaky. 6. Hibiscus tea was refreshing, flavorful and I would drink this again. I'm not sure if I would try any other items considering most of the baked goods were lacking in ube flavor. I love supporting Filipino businesses and hope Cafe 86 can tweak their items. read more

First time having cafe 86. Their hibiscus drink was so refreshing on a hot summer Vegas day. Visited this place on the last day we were in vegas, wish i had took some of the goodies home with me. My favorite bakery item was the leche ube cupcake, the flavor...incant explain it but it was nothing ive had before and it was soo good. I oredered a bunch of the bakery items for my boys and my friends. I didnt get to try all of them, i did try the ube cheesecake...it was good but not good like the ube cupcake. My best friend and I stopped at this cute little cafe to grab a coffee after class, the Ube dessert selection was delicious. I had the Ube cheesecake, although it looks small it's packed with flavor and can become overly sweet really quickly, so half was more than enough. The Sea Salt Cold Brew was perfect and was suggested by the staff. I drove across town this weekend to try this place out, cause I had it in Northern Cali. and I love it. Finding out that there is one here in Vegas, so I went to the store and had the kinda like farmer's market inside their restaurant , interesting but that wasn't the issue. I came across this lady that was helping me looking so tired that wanna go home and I have been asking her question about the product , She is annoyed. So after a few pasties that I got in the bag , I saw a plate at the counter with use crinkle and ube cashew brownies. So I add the brownies to my order. Ube (purple sweet potato) desserts in Las Vegas... After lunch, we naturally searched our Yelp apps for dessert. A couple of us had bookmarked Cafe 86. A few of us had been to one of the three locations in Los Angeles. I personally have been to Cafe 86 in Pasadena where parking is challenging. The Pasadena shop has a schedule as to when the Ube Leche Flan Cupcakes are available. On the day I visited, I got a halohalo because it wasn't Ube Leche Flan day... so sad... haha! This time, in Las Vegas, I was really happy to see many Ube Leche Flan Cupcakes right away in the display case! I HAD TO get one! I borrowed a plate and cut the cupcake into four pieces. YUM! The flan was thick, rich, and creamy without being too sweet! The cupcake was moist and tender... so perfect! My friend got an Ube Butter Bar to share. She had a hard time cutting this dessert into four pieces because the crust was thick and solid. I didn't think that I would like it, but once I tasted the buttery graham cracker crust, I changed my mind. It was excellent! The slightly grainy, crunch of the crust complimented the smooth ube topping...wow! I couldn't believe it was so much better than I expected! Overall, I liked this location of Cafe 86 way better than the Pasadena location. Besides free and easy parking and a convenient restroom, the interior is spacious and whimsically decorated. I took the first bite and was in Kalangitan. Lol! That's heaven if you don't speak Tagalog or want to google it. Ube-by, baby! I'm your biggest flan. Enough with the food puns ... in short is Cafe 86 all hype or is it really that good? Averaging at 4.5 stars with 460 reviews at their only NV location, the other 3 being in SoCal. That's saying a lot! A decently sized cafe, natural light, urban feel with shiplap walls, crates, industrial piping, hanging edison-style bulbs and quirky kick knacks located throughout. I spotted an AE86 on one of the shelves and started to cry internally in Eurobeat. Part of me thinks there is some kind of relation to their name? Who knows? If there is ... kakko-ii, but I digress. Ube Leche Flan - the main reason why I came here, I ordered half a dozen with blind faith that an ube cupcake and leche flan could do no wrong. I am pleased to say that this is such a genius dessert. The cupcake is richly purple, not too sweet, slight chew, not too crumbly and delicious ube flavor. The mini leche flan on top is creamy, rich and has the perfect amount of sweetness. The caramel syrup from the flan is absorbed by the cake and is just too good. Ube Crack Cheesecake - buttery, shortbread crust with creamy, rich ube cheesecake topped with whipped cream and crumble. Not at all cloyingly sweet or greasy. Absolutely delicious, I enjoyed these just as much as the Ube Leche Flan if not more! I regret not buying more, I could easily put away 6 of these without hesitation. Ube Latte - loved that you can order dairy-free options of this drink; almond or soy milk. The cashier recommended the almond milk and damn, this ube latte is so good. It's nothing like taro, that's for sure. It was refreshing! Service was a bit slow considering there was only one employee working, but she was patient and friendly she packaged my desserts well and honored my Yelp check-in. I came here upon the suggestion of my sister in-law who knows how much I love ube and I couldn't think of a better way to close out my short but extremely sweet trip to Las Vegas. My gaze was immediately drawn to the display case. Ube cupcakes topped with leche flan, ube butter bars, crinkle cookies, brownies. On the menu were even more ube options: ube latte, ube milk tea, ube monster (milkshake), ube ice cream sandwich. Was I in heaven? Sure felt like it! At the risk of getting diabetes, I decided to get the ube butter bar and the ube monster milkshake. I didn't see the crinkle cookie until after I had ordered which I slightly regretted, but I had a big nutella crepe and an Italian hot chocolate less than an hour prior so..... that was probably for the better. Hehe. For something called an "ube monster" I expected the ube flavor to be much more prominent. It was still good though and a great way to cool down from the Vegas heat. I didn't eat the ube butter bar until the next day, but wow, it was amazing! I loved it so much, I wish I bought more than one. Hopefully they at least add 1 more person on the Saturday afternoon shift. Sunday afternoon was not as busy. Drinks are still consistently made well. I got their upside down halo halo and it was pretty good. I've never tried halo halo before to compare it, but their halo halo is on the sweet side. It comes in a decent size too that is definitely shareable. The upside down halo halo usually comes with vanilla ice cream but I was able to sub it out for the ube ice cream for no charge. The cereal adds a nice crunch to it. They have a lot of other cute ube desserts inside that I want to try next time! Inside is a cute sitting area that is quiet enough to study in as well. read more
