    Halo halo
    Imee C.

Came here to order to go. Order original halo-halo, upside down halo-halo and some pastries. Everything was yummy and will definitely come here again. The ube flan cupcake was the best but everything was good.

Delicious Filipino dessert/boba spot in Mira Mesa. Tiny shop in the plaza. My favorite things to get here is: Ube flan cheesecake Upside down halo halo Definitely worth the trip for something sweet and delicious. And a taste of Filipino sweetness. If you have questions, ask the staff for their best and favorites.

This place is tucked away in a Mira Mesa marketplace. I brought the ube sampler pack to a Galentine's, and everyone loved all of the ube desserts. This pack came with the ube crack cheesecake (my personal favorite), ube truffle (so decadent), ube leche flan cupcake (love flan), and ube butter bar (liked how the crust balances out the ube butter). It also came with a hibiscus calamansi which was refreshing but the desserts were what blew me away! I also ordered the regular upside down halo halo with ube ice cream. Although this drink was $10.95, it was loaded with so many toppings. I shared it with my husband and we were beyond satisfied. The next time you're craving anything ube, you should stop by this place!

This place moved to another location in Mira Mesa. I ordered the 16oz upside down halo halo and it was amazing! It's a filling dessert drink with so many textures. It's ube cream milkshake with ice cream, jelly, jack fruit, corn flakes and flan. I should have shared it but instead I devoured the entire thing myself. They' offer other drinks and snacks like sandwiches and desserts. This place is tucked away inside the food court plaza. Check it out if you haven't tried before!

Yummy desserts and drinks! I want to explore more of their filipino inspired menu. It does run a bit on the sweeter side, so keep that in mind when ordering. It is a very small cafe, but it's cute. Also the staff are very kind and helpful!

The drinks are amazing and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. The cheapest and best Thai tea around!!! Great place to solo study too! Music is good and the place is cozy. 10/10!!

I came to Cafe 86 on a Friday night. The cafe has a nice cozy feel to it, with a huge menu on display as soon as you walk in. They also have a bunch of pastries on display including their flan ube cupcake, cheesecake, and butter bars. The three items I tried were: -Ube Cheesecake: Had a good ube flavor, but I wish there was a more tart flavor like an original cheesecake. The portion was also very small for $5.50. (3.5/5) -Ube Butter Bar: Very nostalgic for me! I grew up with a Cafe 86 in OC, and this was my go to. The texture of the ube was dense and fibrous, almost like a baked sweet potato. The bar was not too sweet, and the graham cracker crust added a nice hint of salt for balance (5/5!) -The Mermaid: The star of the night. This was soo good!! The jasmine tea was super fragrant, and the sea salt foam complimented the tea well. I got it with boba. It was a perfect texture, not too soggy or too hard. Also great value considering how large the cup was. (5/5!!)

Cafe 86 was my go to delicious Ube dessert with the hibiscus drink. I was sad because i thought that they close down at the mira mesa location next to Seafood City/RakiRaki, but was surprised they only move to down next to momo omakaze. So I saw this place again and we ate the ube truffle, which was my daughter's favorite. The place is not only good, but friendly as always as well. So come and chill with drinks and awesome dessert.

    Calamansi Jasmine Tea with Aloe

This is a cute little shop with unique offerings. I've actually been here twice within two weeks for the Calamansi Tea with Aloe (second time aloe was out .. sad ): ) but each time the service is kind and friendly. The sweetness level of the drink cannot really be altered but it actually was not too sweet for my liking and had a great tea forward taste. Definitely swing by if you're in the area!

My friend and I wanted to have a nice mocha coffee and found this place after a quick Yelp search. As soon as we reached, parking was easy to find. The cafe was a bit small but fortunately we didn't have to wait and were able to get a table! We got the mocha iced latte. They had a whole bunch of interesting options like ube latte and nutella latte. Everything sounded so good. The beverage was ready in no time. The size of the beverage was good. The presentation was also great. The flavor of the latte was spot on. It had the right blend of chocolate cocoa and coffee. It was not overly sweet and it was not overly iced. Everything about it was perfect! If you are in the area, I recommend checking out this cafe! They also have interesting baked goods!

I was so happy when I realized that Cafe 86 didn't close completely in Mira Mesa but they just moved down the road! They used to be located in the plaza with Seafood City, but now they are a few blocks down the road in the plaza with Aldi. GPS will guide you only to Aldi, but they're tucked in the corner of the lot in the food court area! Definitely a smaller shop size than their old location, but all the delicious treats are still there. A few tables and couches inside for customers to sit and hangout at. I love their crack cheesecake and ube bar the most! Tried a drink on this visit and I enjoyed their House Milk Tea although it is a bit on the sweeter side. Service was nice and swift. Definitely will be back when I'm in the area.

And most of the ones I have tried does not compare to moms cooking. Because of mom's health she no longer cooks.... Husband was so kind listening to my food cravings and doing research, he found this place. First, this place is located in strip mall mostly made of food stops. Secondly and importantly, the parking is no joke! Come early and watch where you park. The parking is not plenty and the area is narrow, making it a challenge to see when pulling in or out of a parking space. When you get out of your car your sensory will be on overload on the aromas that seem to hook you by the nostrils! You walk in the restaurant and you will see the tables most likely all taken. How it works is you walk up to food counter and select what items you want. They offer different platter options. It was a lot going on up the food menu on the wall above the staff. Behind the counter it is well staffed so even though the line may be long it moves pretty quickly. Husband and I decided to go with a two item platter. My platter I choose half and half (rice and noodles) . My two items were chicken adobo and diniguan. We got an order of lumpia too. I found the chicken adobo to be pretty good! The chicken portion was pretty good. With chicken adobo there seems never to be enough of the sauce to saturate the rice. The diniguan to my surprise passed the test! It was tasty and had the right balance of flavors! I saved half to share with mom and she liked just as well. A plus for us is they serve seltzer (soda water)! They do have a self serve water station off to the side. The lumpia was good, but I probably would try one of the skewers next time. I forgot to mention that we had to ask to share a space at a table with another couple as there were no more open tables. They gladly shared. There are not outdoor seating. I would definitely visit this spot again.

We came around 11:30am, hoping for breakfast but missed it. There was a long line but it moves fairly quick. We also ordered one chicken inihaw that my husband enjoyed. Unfortunately, they ran out of the pork inihaw and had barely started grilling more. The wait time would have been much longer. The costs were around $22 including tax and a Diet Coke. There was plenty of seating but it's first come first serve. The parking lot was chaotic--no surprise there but we were able to snag a spot. Overall, this is a great turo-turo spot! I'd come back.

Every dish brought something different to the table, and there was not a miss among them. The cocktails were just as impressive. Beyond the food and drinks, the restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. The dark, modern aesthetic creates a fun energy without feeling overly formal, and the music added to the overall vibe of the evening. What impressed me most was how seriously the team took every allergy and accommodation request. Dick & Jordan personally worked with the chefs to thoughtfully modify dishes, carefully noting cross-contamination concerns and ingredient changes so that everyone in our group could safely share and enjoy the meal together. It never once felt like an inconvenience to them -- they treated our needs with genuine compassion, professionalism, and incredible attention to detail. The food itself was phenomenal, even as takeout. The Perilla Pesto Tteokbokki was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor, with perfectly chewy rice cakes coated in a vibrant, herbaceous pesto that balanced freshness with warmth and spice and crunchy deliciousness. The kitchen was also kind enough to accommodate shellfish concerns so it could safely be shared, which meant so much to us. The Sea Bass Cha Cha was beautifully prepared -- delicate, buttery sea bass with an incredible depth of flavor and texture that held up perfectly even as takeout. Every bite tasted intentional and refined. Such beautiful colors. The steak was cooked exactly as requested: fully cooked without being dry, achieving that difficult perfect middle ground between medium-well and well-done. It was tender, flavorful, and expertly prepared. The Mantou reflected the team's attention to detail. The kitchen graciously removed the coconut sugar so it could safely be shared with me, and the bread itself was soft, pillowy, and absolutely delicious. We loved the creaminess as well as the salty deeply flavorful seed and salt mix. What made this experience unforgettable wasn't just the food -- it was the care behind it. So many places claim they can accommodate allergies, but Animae truly went above and beyond to make us feel safe, included, and genuinely cared for. Dick, Jordan, the chefs, and the entire team created an experience that allowed us to enjoy an amazing meal together without stress or fear, and that kind of hospitality is incredibly rare. Animae delivers not only exceptional food, but exceptional humanity. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

We ordered the pork sisig and adobo lumpia and were told that it would be 20-25 minutes. Totally get that they're hand-rolled to order and that it's only one person. But if we're the 4th order, then you should have a decent idea of how long it's going to take you to prep and serve to set expectations accordingly. Over an hour later we got our food which was great - crispy and well filled. The garlic sauce was nice and punchy. The adobo was a little bland and didn't make a lot of sense with the sweet chili sauce. I think a traditional vinegar, garlic, and pepper dip would have been more true to the OG flavor. I'd rather be told it'll be an hour and then have it ready sooner if that manages to happen, but over-promising on the wait time is just a bummer. I'm not sure if I'd try Lia's again.

The restaurant is located in a busier area with other restaurants and businesses nearby, but once you walk in, it has a really chill and welcoming vibe. The setup reminded me a little of places like Chipotle or Panda Express where you move down the line and choose what you want on your plate. I got plain white rice as my base, but you can also get pancit, which are glass noodles with veggies, for a small extra charge depending on the plate size. For my sides, I got the crispy pork sisig and lumpia rolls, which are thin crispy Filipino egg rolls.
