Came here to order to go. Order original halo-halo, upside down halo-halo and some pastries. Everything was yummy and will definitely come here again. The ube flan cupcake was the best but everything was good.

Delicious Filipino dessert/boba spot in Mira Mesa. Tiny shop in the plaza. My favorite things to get here is: Ube flan cheesecake Upside down halo halo Definitely worth the trip for something sweet and delicious. And a taste of Filipino sweetness. This place is tucked away in a Mira Mesa marketplace. I brought the ube sampler pack to a Galentine's, and everyone loved all of the ube desserts. This pack came with the ube crack cheesecake (my personal favorite), ube truffle (so decadent), ube leche flan cupcake (love flan), and ube butter bar (liked how the crust balances out the ube butter). It also came with a hibiscus calamansi which was refreshing but the desserts were what blew me away! I also ordered the regular upside down halo halo with ube ice cream. Although this drink was $10.95, it was loaded with so many toppings. I shared it with my husband and we were beyond satisfied. The next time you're craving anything ube, you should stop by this place!

I saw a lot of reviews saying this place has the best halo-halo in San Diego and went there hoping to find my new go-to spot. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. The service was good, and it was a nice enough place to sit and have a drink. But the halo-halo really disappointed me. It was more like a drink than a shaved ice dessert. The texture was very slushy and melted into a liquid within minutes. The caramelized sugar on the leche flan tasted a bit burnt, and the flan itself was not great. I know it's popular to use rice krispies instead of pinipig, and I don't mind that. But this place used cornflakes, which I did not like and became soggy very quickly due to the liquid-y nature of the dessert. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I disliked this dessert so much it kind of ruined my day.

At first, I had a bit of trouble finding the location, I ended up walking around the entire building to find the entrance. That said, once I found it, I was delighted! It's a bit small on the inside, so if you have a big party, the suggestion would be to eat outside (there are a bunch of tables!). I got a sandwich, a pastry, and a drink, spent $25. Sandwich was great and came with chips. I couldn't decide which pop tart I wanted and the turon was delicious! I simply need to go back for the ube one. I got an iced tea and it was good, but the tea was mildly over brewed. It was a great place for me to just chill out and read my book. I shall be returning, can't wait to try out more things!

This place moved to another location in Mira Mesa. I ordered the 16oz upside down halo halo and it was amazing! It's a filling dessert drink with so many textures. It's ube cream milkshake with ice cream, jelly, jack fruit, corn flakes and flan. I should have shared it but instead I devoured the entire thing myself. They' offer other drinks and snacks like sandwiches and desserts. This place is tucked away inside the food court plaza. Check it out if you haven't tried before!

Yummy desserts and drinks! I want to explore more of their filipino inspired menu. It does run a bit on the sweeter side, so keep that in mind when ordering. It is a very small cafe, but it's cute. Also the staff are very kind and helpful!

I came to Cafe 86 on a Friday night. The cafe has a nice cozy feel to it, with a huge menu on display as soon as you walk in. They also have a bunch of pastries on display including their flan ube cupcake, cheesecake, and butter bars. The three items I tried were: -Ube Cheesecake: Had a good ube flavor, but I wish there was a more tart flavor like an original cheesecake. The portion was also very small for $5.50. (3.5/5) -Ube Butter Bar: Very nostalgic for me! I grew up with a Cafe 86 in OC, and this was my go to. The texture of the ube was dense and fibrous, almost like a baked sweet potato. The bar was not too sweet, and the graham cracker crust added a nice hint of salt for balance (5/5!) -The Mermaid: The star of the night. This was soo good!! The jasmine tea was super fragrant, and the sea salt foam complimented the tea well. I got it with boba. It was a perfect texture, not too soggy or too hard. Also great value considering how large the cup was. (5/5!!)

Cafe 86 was my go to delicious Ube dessert with the hibiscus drink. I was sad because i thought that they close down at the mira mesa location next to Seafood City/RakiRaki, but was surprised they only move to down next to momo omakaze. So I saw this place again and we ate the ube truffle, which was my daughter's favorite. The place is not only good, but friendly as always as well. So come and chill with drinks and awesome dessert.

This is a cute little shop with unique offerings. I've actually been here twice within two weeks for the Calamansi Tea with Aloe (second time aloe was out .. sad ): ) but each time the service is kind and friendly. The sweetness level of the drink cannot really be altered but it actually was not too sweet for my liking and had a great tea forward taste. Definitely swing by if you're in the area!

My friend and I wanted to have a nice mocha coffee and found this place after a quick Yelp search. As soon as we reached, parking was easy to find. The cafe was a bit small but fortunately we didn't have to wait and were able to get a table! We got the mocha iced latte. They had a whole bunch of interesting options like ube latte and nutella latte. Everything sounded so good. The beverage was ready in no time. The size of the beverage was good. The presentation was also great. The flavor of the latte was spot on. It had the right blend of chocolate cocoa and coffee. It was not overly sweet and it was not overly iced. Everything about it was perfect! If you are in the area, I recommend checking out this cafe! They also have interesting baked goods!

I was so happy when I realized that Cafe 86 didn't close completely in Mira Mesa but they just moved down the road! They used to be located in the plaza with Seafood City, but now they are a few blocks down the road in the plaza with Aldi. GPS will guide you only to Aldi, but they're tucked in the corner of the lot in the food court area! Definitely a smaller shop size than their old location, but all the delicious treats are still there. A few tables and couches inside for customers to sit and hangout at. I love their crack cheesecake and ube bar the most! Tried a drink on this visit and I enjoyed their House Milk Tea although it is a bit on the sweeter side. Service was nice and swift. Definitely will be back when I'm in the area.

A small little cafe with huge flavors! We came full stomach from eating lunch at a restaurant in the same lot but still finished the massive halo halo. Packed with flavors and huge amount of toppings, it is worth the stop. Try their hot, house made pop tarts! It goes well with the halo halo. Service was quick since it was a quiet day (Saturday 2pm). The inside of the cafe was clean and had a table big enough for a group of 6 plus small tables for couples. read more

Cafe 86 if back with a vengeance. If you haven't tried their upside down halo halo. You are missing out my friends. If you have tried them before and if you're telling me you didn't miss their ube, you are in denial. Service is fast friendly, i am sooo happy i found their new address perfect this summer. Their shop is smaller compared to their previous location. But i love that they have outdoor seating in this complex. Happy eating! read more

Very yummy dessert/ drink place! The interior is quiet and cozy and there is a good amount of seating. I ordered the Ube Milkshake which was good! It wasn't too sweet and the ube flavor was strong enough. I like the Oreo crumbs added in the drink as well. It wasn't super creamy but enough to make it not overly icy. The bread pudding wasn't as good as I imagined it. I liked the banana that was in it and the flavor was fine, but the texture was kinda tough and drier than I thought. I think it would've been better if warmed up but still worth a try. It came with a scoop of ube ice cream which was yummy- we didn't really eat it with the bread pudding tho. Come here for UBE everything!!! This little shop is off of Mira Mesa, but away from the center (Target/movies). It's next to a Seafood City so you know it's got Filipino influence. They have a big parking lot and they also offer free wifi. They do not accept American Express as payment. I got the ube cheesecake, and it was delicious! It was so tiny I didn't feel bad for eating the whole thing. I'd get that again. It's packed in a cute little cup, but it's hard to eat out of it. The server was really nice in explaining everything since it was my first time there. It's kind of dark inside, but they have a lot of space and a lot of tables, including a couch. read more

Located right next to Seafood City in Mira Mesa, solid spot for drinks/boba/dessert! Food/Drinks: Been here a few times now and I always go for their Halo Halo/Upside Down Halo Halo or any of their calamansi drinks since I never see them anywhere else. Recommend the strawberry calamansi! I wish the had more slush options though. Most of the desserts here are ube based so if you love ube, this place is for you. The ube cheesecake was my favorite! Service: You order at the counter and they'll call your name out. Have never waited too long but also have never seen a huge line whenever I went which is great. Ambiance: Really large place but doesn't look like it'd be from the outside. Lots of seating and I always see at least one person working/studying inside so it seems to be a good place for that. Water: It's a drink place! But I'd hope their water was good haha. read more

Dope concept for the now famous ube, but poor to standard execution on most of the desserts I've had. Halo-halo ($8.25): saccharine and invigorating. The frosted flakes is a nice touch for sweetness and crunchy texture, but this is missing ube jam (ube halaya), sweetened kidney or garbanzo bean, coconut strips, pinipig (toasted young rice grain), slices or portions of fruit preserves and other root crop preserves. 7.5/10. Ube leche flan cupcake ($4.50): the leche flan was dry, and the cupcake was even dryer and flavorless, 5/10. Ube butter bar: sweet, buttery, and captures the ube flavor. Textures are a hit too, crispy bar and creamy ube, 9/10. Ube crinkles: narrow flavor, but has a nice crunch. Just ok, 7/10. Service is always quick. read more

Last week, my wife and I went grocery shopping and we saw someone coming out of Cafe 86 holding what looked like a delicious halo halo drink in her hand. We were curious and returned to satisfy our curiosity and our sweet tooth. We were not disappointed. It was early afternoon and there were some patrons sitting at the tables. The huge menu on the wall helped greatly but the friendly explanation by the employee made it even clearer as to how yummy the sweet creations are. We ordered the halo halo both ways and found it very delightful and satisfying. We enjoyed our drinks there and found the ambiance relaxing. Because the halo halo were so big, we took him the baked goods to try at home and it was very delicious. Ube flavored theme, awesome!!! read more

The workers were super friendly, I noticed they greeted everyone who came in and left I love the upside down halo halo although it is a little pricey, but it definitely hits the spot! I've also had the ube cupcake with leche flan and that was really great -- not too sweet Theres tons of seating as well as a little section with a couch and a couple of comfy chairs The bathroom is also well maintained and clean! read more

I'm sooo glad they have a location in San Diego. I remembered trying this place a few years ago in LA, and I was craving that ube-ness ever since. This time, I kept it simple and ordered an Ube Monster Milkshake. The shake was creamy with the earthy ube flavor that I was looking for. The Oreo bits bring out the ube taste even more. I was satisfied with the mini size since it can get pretty sweet after a while. They also have the desserts displayed in the cases, so I'm looking forward to getting the ube leche flan cupcake next time. read more

A hidden gem in Mira Mesa with some of the best ube specialty drinks and snacks! The cafe is very spacious, making it an ideal place to hangout with friends or to study. The prices are super reasonable where drinks are on average $5.25 for a massive large cup. I got the mermaid today and it was absolutely delicious where the jasmine tea fragrance colored my pallet. I also got their ube milk tea and the ube taste was strong. Something else I appreciate it how they don't charge you extra for milk alternatives! Highly recommend this cafe to my lactose intolerant friends! Their halo halo ube bread pudding was also to die for. I'll definitely make this my regular go to place for milk teas, boba, and coffee! read more

My experience here was most pleasurable. My server Kaycee was very knowledgeable and helped me select my drink. I got the Green Rose with lychee jelly and it was amazing. The sitting area was also very clean. This nice young man whose name I did not catch was cleaning up the place, making sure everything was organized properly. Will come back! I'm a huge fan of Cafe 86. Their Une desserts are to die for. I love the Ube Flan Cupcake, Ube Truffle, and Ube Cheesecake. My kiddo enjoys the Milo Cupcake and the Hibiscus Calamansi drink. The staffs are nice and friendly. The store is clean and have a lot of Star Wars decor. read more

Sometimes my almond joy is made perfectly and other times it barely has coffee, dark chocolate, and haupia in it. Sad days when my iced coffees aren't made perfectly. Hopefully they improve on this.
