I've been wanting to check this place out for a long time and we finally came for breakfast to give you a we'll rounded review of drinks and food. :) We ordered the Sean Burrito, Stuffed Nutella French Toast, and the 5 Layer Avocado Toast. The Stuffed French Toast was delicious. 10/10 would recommend. The Sean Burrito was good. My husband says he would get all bacon next time because their bacon is good. I really enjoyed my 5 Layer Avocado toast. I also got a Nutella Latte that was pretty good. Its pretty cool that they coat the whole cup with nutella. I like that they have non-dairy alternatives. Really cute and good coffee/breakfast place that is Filipino-family owned and very welcoming, siempre. They have a limited breakfast menu but good pastries and rice dishes. The Tapsilog was good but the tapas was slightly salty so I added lots of the spiced vinegar. Only one fried egg came with my combo. Next time I'll get a 2nd egg. The lattes are good! This time I had the Abuelita (hot) latte and oh so good with a good balance of coffee and cinnamon goodness. My dad wanted decaf but they don't have that option. But I definitely would return to try the other lattes. read more

This is still one of our absolute favorite coffee shops to go to. The quality is always top tier and made with love. We've been coming here for years now and the drinks are always changing to introduce new ones and they never disappoint! My go to as of late has been their iced cookie butter latte. They do an incredible job and the espresso is strong but still have the sweetness and flavor of the cookie butter lined around the cup. Today we dropped by to try some of their new Spring Seasonal drinks and mainly because one of them is a collab with my cousin, IG: Leonardough's, inspired by his fantastic baked goods! We ordered the "Jon's Blueberry Maple Bar Latte" which was a nice, strong latte but the blueberry flavor pushed through perfectly! Great balance. This one is the drink inspired by my cousin's bakery, and the main drink we came for but I also wanted to try the Beignet Latte since it was one of the other unique drinks on the menu. So hard to choose but I just might like the blueberry one more because it was a solid drink! The beignet one has honey that just sinks to the bottom and mixing it is a bit tough because it gets stuck to the straw no matter what and you end up getting chunks of honey for every sip. Not that it's a bad thing! It was still delicious but hard to beat the blueberry drink. The baristas today were both very sweet and friendly and got the drinks out really quick! It was another busy day for this coffee shop and I somehow managed to go too early and missed out on their smash burger pop up. Plenty of seating throughout the cafe which makes it perfect for hanging out with friends. It always smells amazing in here because they also have their own breakfast food that we need to try again. The food itself actually pretty decent, so I'll give them credit for that, but the portions were definitely smaller than I expected and felt below standard for what you're paying. The drinks were easily the biggest disappointment. I ordered the strawberry matcha and could barely taste either strawberry or matcha. It honestly tasted mostly watered down, with maybe a little strawberry flavor at the beginning, but basically no matcha at all. The other drinks we ordered weren't much better either. Someone got an ube coffee drink, and you couldn't really taste the ube. It mostly just tasted like regular coffee. Customer service was decent, and again, the food tasted good, but between the small portions and really disappointing drinks, I don't think I'd come back. If you do go, I'd stick with the food and skip the drinks. read more

Everything about my first visit to Cafe Aficionado was absolutely excellent! The two gentlemen working were so kind and provided great service. I ordered the Campfire Latte (s'mores flavored) and the Avocado Toast and it was the perfect breakfast. Is the avocado toast something I could make at home? Probably. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it as it was yummy and satisfying; the avocado was very flavorful and the hot honey was a great complement to the meal overall. I expected the Campfire Latte to be too sweet and I was honestly worried about it after putting my order in, but it was so perfectly balanced. The espresso definitely came through and wasn't overpowered by the chocolate flavor at all. My partner got the Nutella Stuffed French Toast and the Pumpkin Chai Cream Cheese Latte which were also delicious. It's a very cozy and cutely decorated space and could be great for studying as I did see a couple of outlets. I will definitely be back to explore their menu a little more. read more

I was excited to try this place, but it missed the mark. It took about 40 minutes for two drinks. My iced chai was somehow warm and watered down, and the replacement lavender lemonade tasted more like extra-sweet pink lemonade. The café also smelled so much like fried food that I left wearing the scent. Add in a few sticky tables, and it just wasn't the cozy coffee shop experience I was hoping for. I visited this place a while back after driving past it many times and finally deciding to give it a try. I arrived about 35 minutes before their posted closing time of 3:00 p.m. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was an inconvenience rather than a welcomed customer. The woman I believe was the owner had her child behind the counter, and when I ordered a burrito, she appeared visibly annoyed. It seemed like the grill had already been cleaned and they were ready to close, but the restaurant was still open during its posted business hours. The interaction made me feel so uncomfortable that I considered asking for a refund and leaving. As a paying customer, I expected to be treated with basic courtesy regardless of what time I arrived before closing. The hot matcha latte was decent, but unfortunately the burrito was disappointing. Between the unfriendly service and the underwhelming food, I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience. read more

Had a hot Ube latte and tried a chilled Jon's delight that we saw on IG. Jons delight was a blueberry flavored drink with actual blueberries. Sweet and interesting and the coffee was strong. My first time at a Filipino restaurant and it was pretty good but my partner said there's better Filipino restaurants out there that is more worth the price. Also wish they updated their menu pricing, it would've been nice to know some of the prices were actually $15 not $13. Not a big deal but would've loved the transparency. I got the Longanisa plate and everything was cooked perfectly. Egg with yolk that melts, longanisa was sweet and had bits of garlic chunks in it, and crispy yet fluffy rice. Loved it! The pandan matcha was really sweet and more pandan than matcha, the staff also forgot about it. I ordered right before a lunch rush so I completely understand and didn't mind waiting till the rush was over to get my drink. BUT what I did mind was the ventilation. It was so smoky in there my eyes were burning and I left smelling like kbbq. They had an open kitchen and it's shared with the register, they are behind the counter together. They had many fans places throughout the store and had their back door open but the fans were all blowing the smoke to the front door which was closed. There's no exhaust so the smoke was pretty much gathering in the store. If dinning in I recommend sitting towards the back half of the store or outside in front of the store if the weather is nice. Parking wise is difficult, we couldn't find street parking but was able to score a spot behind the store. Pay attention to signs because other businesses share the lot and posted signs of where customers can park. read more

What can be said about this often overlooked gem of a small business on a big street? Located on Reseda Blvd, nearest 2 other coffee shops (Yellowhouse and Starbucks)- this small store stands out for its large community impact. When I first came to Cafe Aficionado, it was before Covid and actually met the owners, Abby & Reggie, who were working the bar. The drinks at that time were good, but not standout. Then, Covid hit. These owners promoted other small businesses, they held pop-ups for local vendors, they engaged in their community and became pillars of community involvement. Recently, they helped with a back to school giveaway, because of course they would- how else can this shop be more caring??? So, after a few years wait, I finally stopped in again. Uhm- excuse you, what business did you have improving the drink quality? MY DRINK WAS FIRE! Its as if they purposefully spent time improving their craft because I don't remember it being this good. Ani was an absolute gem, the friendliest service, so patient & cared about the outcome of her drink. The space is welcoming and there's plenty of gathering area. Cafe Aficionado- I wish you the best. I got the iced matcha tea latte with organic oat milk (surprising to see a cost of an additional $1.04 to substitute it) for about a 16 oz sized cup. The matcha was just alright to me, so I'd have to give it a 6/10. The bright side about the milk cost is that it seems like it was pretty much 99% of the drink because when it was served to me, it barely had a tinge of green and looked like a milk drink. The taste was also alright. The spot is not bad for hanging out or studying. I was able to find a wall outlet on the side. When staff is doing dishes, though, I recommend wearing earphones because the clacking of the plates and utensils is quite loud. The spot is nice and feels good for the local community. Their savory items are very delicious and smells very good as they make them! I have yet to try their coffee yet but their menu is pretty vast as their menu pages are laid out on the front counter taking up several different pages. Cafe Aficionado is a local coffee spot that has plenty of seating inside and outside. I like the uniqueness of this spot compared to the many starbucks around it. The staff are always friendly. They also allow well behaved dogs which I love especially when I stop here during my dog's walk. Today I ordered an iced beignet latte. It was really good but personally too expensive. It came out to $9 which is higher than most coffee shops. I would say this will probably have to be a special occasion only coffee shops due to the price. read more

I wanted to like this cafe bc it's Filipino owned and I've seen the hype on tiktok but the barista who took our order made our experience feel so uncomfortable. We came in 40 min before closing and it wasn't busy which we tried to give the benefit of the doubt that they were about to close soon but we're both baristas at different cafes that close later hours so the lack of customer service shouldn't be an issue no matter the time of day it is. The drinks were mid but it's not worth the service you get with it tbh. There were also no straws around and had to wait a little for them to find it but we just left without the straws. I don't ever write reviews bc idc about customer service like that and we understand how it feels but that's just not a good impression for first time customers read more

I didn't taste any sweetness in it - mostly just tasted like coffee and a little bitterness. Idk if that's what it was supposed to taste like but I was hoping there was some sweetness. Giving this place 3 stars strictly because the customer service was kind and the parking was easy -- otherwise, it would've been lower. The cafe itself was unbearably hot inside, with no air conditioning and flies everywhere. I'm talking buzzing around the grill, landing on food while it was being prepped -- totally off-putting. It made eating there uncomfortable and honestly a little concerning from a cleanliness standpoint. Food-wise, everything we ordered was just okay. The breakfast burrito, quesadilla, and bagel all landed at a solid 3/5 -- edible, but nothing memorable. My kid didn't even finish the simple quesadilla, which says a lot. There weren't any sauces offered to help add flavor, like chipotle or anything to kick it up a notch. The matcha? Undrinkable. I asked them to adjust it with more almond milk and syrup to try and salvage it, but the taste was still bad -- super low-quality matcha with a very bitter aftertaste. If they fix the heat issue and get the fly situation under control, it might be worth another shot. But as of now, not rushing to go back. read more

Service & Location: Service is okay. Came in on an early Saturday morning and I was the only person in the shop, and the order took about 10 minutes to come out. There's a parking lot in the back, and it's a much better place to park. As some other reviews have mentioned, the ambiance is lacking - though this may be because the shop was empty. Two other people came in after me and then huddled in a corner. There was no music playing and the place felt strangely lonely. Food: I ordered a dirty ube latte and a bagel sandwich. Dirty Ube Latte ($6.65): The coffee itself tastes delicious, but I can't taste the ube part at all. It comes out at a good level of sweetness (not overwhelming syurpy), so you don't have to make any adjustments. Something of note if you're picky about such things is that they don't use real ube in the drink, but put in a powder instead. The coffee is strong and a good pick me up, but I'm not sure if I would get it again. Bagel sandwich ($9.25): Tastes good but not worth the $9+. You can get a similar sandwich with much better toppings elsewhere for the same price. Stick to the coffees. Two pieces of bacon slapped on an egg with some mayo + a bagel. If it was just coffee this would be a 4/5 stars. read more
