Don't let the strip mall deter you. The minute you walk through the door you will fall in love with Cafe Americana starting with the aroma of the food, the inviting decor and the friendly staff and owners. We had a large group and everyone was completely satisfied with their meal. I ordered a cup of mushroom soup which was deliciously creamy, loaded with fresh mushrooms (I'm sure local Kennett Square mushrooms). I tried for the first time a authentic Venezuelan sandwich, the Arepas. The pork melts in your mouth and the corn patty was outstanding. First time here and we were not disappointed! Service was wonderful (Sonya) and the place is so cute and clean! My son had the chicken and waffles - wow! My daughter had a Venezuelan Eggs Benedict. They used pulled pork instead of ham. It was delicious! I had the veggie omelet - tasty! Even the side of fruit I got was fresh and colorful - strawberries, blueberries and granny smith apple. We drove up from Newark because of the positive reviews, and we were not disappointed!! The pancakes were really fluffy and light, and tasted amazing. We also had a western omelette and it was delicious, but the home fries that came with it were absolutely perfect. It was a little slow because it was so busy on a Saturday morning, but we didn't mind a relaxed pace for breakfast. We will definitely be coming back to try lunch and dinner. read more

We came in from out of town to visit my mother in law, and brought her to Cafe Americana based on the Yelp reviews. We were very happy with the food, and felt that our 4.5 and 2.5 year olds were more than welcome - in fact, while we were paying the bill, a manager invited our kids to draw on the windows using the markers they use to advertise specials. Went there for lunch today, mostly on a friend's recommendation that they have the best mushroom soup. She was totally correct, that was the best mushroom soup I have had so far (and we live in the heart of mushroom country). The menu had a good variety of choices, our food was good, as well as the service. We will be coming back soon and often. read more

This has quickly become one of our go-to places in Kennett. It's clean, bright and has a menu that appeals to everyone. The staff is super friendly and the food has always been good! I always go for the arepa which has never disappointed. The only sad thing is the empanadas are a 'special' even though listed on the menu and you never know when they will have them. Service has been a little slow sometimes, but not a big deal. Really hope they stick to what they are doing because it's working! read more

Omelet was tasty but the potatoes did not appear to made there but rather the commercial frozen kind you have seen at many places - not terrible but not what I was expecting. Easily the best food in Kennett. I highly suggest trying this place for any meal of the day. The prices are very reasonable, and the food is amazing. A few of my favorites include: any omelet, the mushroom soup (seriously the best I've ever had, and I've lived in town my whole life), and the tacos. This is more of a diner, but the food beats anything you could get at victory, two stones, or grain. The service could be better, but the servers are young kids. Give this place a chance! You will easily visit once a week like we do! read more

I absolutely love the food there especially the arepas, I was there today and the service from the young lady who was our waitress was horrible. She didn't give us silver wear and when she asked my companion if he'd like a refill she didn't ask me, my cup was empty too. I've never had bad service there but today was terrible. I probably won't go back. I'd rather go to the Delaware location and hope for better customer service there read more

Go with the French Toast -- it's spectacular! Omelets are tasty. Service is excellent and timely. Big breakfast for 2 including coffee costs $20. It's not in cute downtown, but don't let the strip plaza location put you off....well worth the two minute drive from downtown. read more

This is worth the drive, I live in Malvern and drive to Kennett Square just to eat here. The food is always outstanding, they have a variety of specials as wells as traditional breakfast staples. Their wait staff is very good, they are very knowledgeable about the menu and specials and take care of their customers. The restaurant itself is always clean, bright and very welcoming. The wait for a table has gotten a bit longer, but that is to be expected when word gets around about this hidden gem of a restaurant. read more

Pretty, cute and clean restaurant with below average food. Omelettes from pre-mixed baking eggs not to be used preparing omelettes only used for baking. What happened to real three egg omelettes hand mixed and real homemade hash browns not poured from a freezer bag. Only order 2 eggs and toast. Good luck. read more

Poor service. Waitress was not pleasant while we were there. Got my sandwich to-go. I had asked the waitress to add avocado to the sandwich, fully aware that places typically charge extra for avocado BUT I did not expect it to be a $3.00 up-charge. $3.00 for three slivers if avocado. 3.00?! A whole avocado costs $1-1.50. I called and asked to speak to a manager and they were extremely unprofessional giving me the run around saying there was a manager then saying she wasn't there at the moment. She ended up putting the waitress on the phone that she thought served us (I didn't know her name) and she was also very rude. I told her I'm sure people would appreciate a heads up when they add avocado to something since it's extremely overpriced. She didn't give a sh*t. Customer service will make or break a business. My wife and I had heard great things about Cafe Americana, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I ordered the the Breakfast Burritos from the Specials Board and my wife ordered the Western Omelet. Both meals were excellent. Prices are very reasonable. Restaurant is clean and the wait staff attentive. We look forward to returning for breakfast again soon - or maybe lunch or dinner. I absolutely love Cafe Americana! The breakfast is delicious and fast, and they always have creative menu options along with the classics. Their homemade creamed chip beef is delicious, and I love their homefries. I have never tried lunch here (mainly because whenever I go the breakfast menu is just too good to pass up on), but the specials always sound delicious. The wait staff are all super sweet and attentive. My only complaint would be that sometimes there isn't enough seating, however that is how most small venues are. What a great find tucked away next to Giant Foods in the New Garden Center! Let's be clear: the atmosphere is "casual diner" so if you're looking for a formal restaurant you should keep looking. But the place is clean and bright and also offers take-out. The menu is, similarity, relatively basic though there always novel specials on the chalk board as you come in. All the food is cooked to order and the flavors are fantastic. We've had an assortment of dishes over multiple visits ranging from sandwiches (Reuben) to tacos and Arepas to all day breakfast items like hot cakes and omelets (as in many diners breakfast is served all day). All of our items have been cooked perfectly and FULL OF FLAVOR! How glad I am that they've extended their hours to include dinner. A real winner has come to the Kennett area read more

The food is consistently good; however, I've been enough times and the tv remains the same. The televisions have been on to Fox News far too often for my taste. I've been back hoping it was a few isolated incidents, but it has proven to be consistent. I prefer not to have politics with my meal, so won't be back.
