I really enjoy Cafe Americano in Brickell City Center. It has such a cute little diner feel to it. The food and service are very consistent. I've had breakfast and lunch here and enjoyed both meals. We walked in for a quick drink and were blown away at how beautiful the bar was. The bar manager, John, was absolutely amazing. He gave us phenomenal service and his drinks were truly mind blowing. They were so eclectic and delicious. I didn't get a chance to try the food but the service and the drinks were good enough to make me want to come back immediately. This restaurant is like the hidden gem of Brickell. They open at 9 am which is super early compared to the places near around the area. They have bottomless brunch until 4pm. The chicken brasa bowl was somewhat bland and the chicken was dry, although the tastiest of the bowl. I much prefer chipotle over this bowl. The waiter suggested my husband add chicken to his rigatoni, since it doesn't come with a protein. I'm glad he agreed because without it he would not have gotten full. His chicken was also dry. The server was polite and courteous but did take longer than usual to check on us and close the tab. The mandatory 18% gratuity and tax added $20 to the total. I ate at this restaurant in the evening of April 15, 2025. I had the wedge salad and the crispy chicken sandwich. On Wednesday in the early afternoon I became extremely sick -- incessant vomit and diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, and headache. This went on for the next three days, nonstop. Yesterday I spent the day in urgent care hooked up to an IV for fluids as I had become extremely dehydrated from the illness. I was diagnosed with severe food poisoning. The only place I could have contracted food poisoning was Cafe Americano at Brickell City Center, as I did not eat at any other restaurants over a period of at least 4 days prior to becoming ill with food poisoning. Looking back on it, the wedge salad should have raised red flags because it was essentially a massive head of lettuce that I had to chop myself and was likely infected with bacteria due to poor sanitation and cleanliness by this restaurant. Yesterday I was prescribed antibiotics, which seem to be working, and I am finally, after 5 days, beginning to feel better -- but I cannot describe how incredibly sick I was thanks to what I ate at this restaurant. This restaurant is very small and they insist on keeping the double doors open in 90 degree weather, I asked if they could close it 2 times because the heat was unbearable but the manager refused without even coming by the table to talk to us., the food is good and if it wasn't for the heat I'm sure that I would return, maybe in the winter.
