It kills me to give them only 3 stars. I have eaten here many times over the years and typically I swoon over their food. Their eggplant parm sub is one of my favorites at lunch time and their dinners have always been great. I dont get to go here as often after relocating so when I do get over there its a trip filled with fat kid excitement. But today everything in my take out order was lack luster. I got an eggplant parm sub which was ok. It was difficult to eat because some of the eggplant was tough and I wasnt able to bite through it. Like if you bit it you would pull out the rest of the piece of eggplant out of the middle of the sub and eggplant would be hanging out of your mouth. It was good enough. Not what my dreams are made of. I also got a side garden salad. This is where true tragedy struck. I opened it when I got back to my destination and it was brown. The lettuce was brown and the cucumber was slightly off. I got an old salad. And also if you like dressing ask for extra. Without this experience I would have hands down given 4 or 5 stars. We were in town for the outlet shopping and wanted something other than a meal at a chain restaurant. The reviews for this restaurant were good, and the place was full, so we had high hopes. We started with a simple caprese salad which was good, as was the rustic bread and dipping oil. My sister had the butternut squash ravioli and really enjoyed it despite some of the raviolis being over cooked. I had the chicken, broccoli and penne in the garlic and olive oil, which was truly disappointing. The chicken was over cooked and the broccoli was under cooked. It's a pretty simple dish to mess up. The worst part was the service. Our waitress brought us water, quickly came back and took our order (no conversation about specials, ordering appetizers, etc.) and never came back. Someone else brought our appetizer and then our entrees. No one came over to check if we were enjoying our food or needed more water (which we did). Meanwhile we watched our waitress tend to other tables during their meals. After we were clearly finished eating and just sitting and waiting, the host came over to tend to the table. The host was friendly, but the overall service was enough to keep us from returning on our next trip. read more

I've heard (though I cannot confirm whether it is true) that the same family who owns Luciano's owns Cafe Assisi. Whatever the case, Cafe Assisi is great for take out and dining in (though it is tiny and unless you go at an off time, you will likely wait forever). If you happen to be shopping at the Wrentham Outlets, it is a fabulous lunch option aside from all of the nasty chain restaurants at the outlets. I would definitely recommend checking out if you are looking for fantastic Italian food in huge portions for a great price. read more

I wanted to go somewhere really nice for Mother's Day, so I hopped on Yelp and saw the good reviews so I decided to give Cafe Assisi a try. Definitely one of the best decisions I have made. Every aspect of the meal was fantastic. The bread they serve is crusty sourdough which is healthier and is also in my opinion one of the most delicious kinds of bread and they serve it with the best dipping oil I have had at a restaurant. We ordered 2 appetizers, the prosciutto wrapped asparagus and the arugula salad, both were phenomenal. All entrees were excellent. The cannolis are housemaid, and the shell was extremely fresh and crunchy. I decided to go with tiramisu which is usually either excellent or terrible, it was excellent. The service was very on point. The food here is authentic Italian. I am extremely discerning about my Italian food, so this was really refreshing for me. I highly recommend this establishment. This will now be a mainstay for special occasions for my family. read more

A cute place for lunch. The dining room is very small but the space is well used. We ordered Chicken Caesar Salad, Shrimp Pizza, Lasagna with Meatball, and Chicken Parm. Everything was excellent in flavor. Hot dishes were served very hot. Service was pretty good. Decent prices for lunch. read more

I have visited this place on many occasion and Te food and atmosphere has always been great. They have recently expanded into the adjacent unit but space is still at a premium, which in itself is a testament to the great food served within. So plan accordingly and unless u want to wait in excess of an hour , arrive early especially on weekends. read more

I like this place. I've only been for lunch. They have 1/2 sandwich 1/2 salad deals. They make excellent deli salads and there is lots of variety for sandwiches. Add a glass of wine and you're good-to-go for the afternoon. read more

We went to Tuscany in April, and Cafe Assisi could have come from there. The food is phenomenal, the wait staff are wonderful, and the hubbub reminded us of the cafes in Italy. I think it's better than many of the restaurants in the North End. read more

Let me just preface this by saying I am tough when it comes to giving 5 stars to a restaurant. I generally save 5 stars for places that are truly the pinnacle of flavor, service, and originality. Because of this, I give this place a well deserved 4 stars that is leaning on 5. This hole in the wall is everything you'd expect from an authentic family-run Italian restaurant. Fresh and well seasoned ingredients coming together in original creations. The Chicken Mediterranean is probably the most delicious Italian dish I've ever had. The flavors melded perfectly, with well seasoned and rich but mellow tomato sauce, creamy ricotta, lightly breaded eggplant, spinach, and light but flavorful squid-ink pasta. The risotto-stuffed pepper was okay, but not the star of the show. The green pepper should have been cooked longer and swapped for a red one in my opinion. The only thing I truly wasn't a fan of was their salad. We had a Mediterranean one that didn't have much body to it; the somewhat bland and soft spring mix leaves and bland vinaigrette didn't do much for me. That Chicken Mediterranean though, that truly hit the jackpot. Service was very friendly and attentive as well, with a nice home-y but elegant vibe considering how busy the place was. read more

By far the best Italian food I have enjoyed. I am always disappointed with Italian food since I am Italian Sicilian and seldom enjoy eating in Italian restaurants. We are major league fans of the food. Let me just compliment that once we are seated, we are provided very attentive service. It is the walking thru the door giving your name and waiting to be called in the order you arrive that - at this point (3rd time) has made me very unhappy. I refer my clients to this fine establishment and I hope they are not treated the same way. Tonight we gave our name, told it was a 30 minute wait - told we could order a glass of wine and wait outside. No problem, in no rush - relax. Following our check-in TWO (2) other families of FOUR (4) arrived. One stood rudely in the doorway watching the people eating the other came outside with us. Some people left - the rude people were seated. The other family of 4 were called in. Next, TWO (2) women walked in and were seated. SO AFTER OUR CHECK-IN THREE LATER PARTIES OF PATRONS WERE SEATED My husband then went in to inquire regarding the wait and we were seated. Not COOL! I have sent a message to the owner via the web site so I hope this problem can be addressed. The food is terrific, sorry I have to be negative - but we all work hard for the money and if I go out - I want to be happy that I did. My husband suggested we stick to the takeout - but I enjoy going out...... My parents had a restaurant for 21 years - PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. read more

Nice homey Italian restaurant with good food and service. Good for takeout as well. Portions are generous and we always have extra to take home. Nice place to stop for food before or after a shopping trip to Wrenham premium outlets. Had a special of lobster ravioli with mushrooms with vodka cream sauce a while ago that was really good. Had the lobster ravioli in cream vodka sauce a few days ago that was good too (would have loved more lobster inside though!) Overall, I will be back! read more

In town visiting and looked for a place for a nice dinner. Tried Assisi based on reviews. Was not disappointed. Probably the best Italian food I have eaten in a long time. Soup, appetizers, mains were all delicious. And we ordered the house wine of the day and it was excellent. Also large portions. My 21 year son who is an athlete could not even finish his main after apps. Great find - highly recommend. Also service was amazing. Food came out fast. And to top it off we were a party of 7 on Saturday night night without a reservation. At first they said they could not seat us but they shifted things around for us. Man, do I love the food here. They have those crazy good gourmet pizza's. But if you want an Italian dish, or even sandwich those are awesome too.......love, try it. Went to cafe Assisi for a late lunch today based on a friends recommendation. It was excellent and we will be returning. However I want to make people aware that the directions in this app are incorrect. Use another map program. We ended up on a side street in a neighborhood. If you are going north on Rt. 495 take exit 15. Go right at the end of the ramp and it is only about 1/2 mile up on the right hand side. It is in a small plaza and easy to miss. read more
