HRW has finally arrived and my first place happened to be Cafe Benedicte on Friday for lunch. This place seemed very busy for lunch, however I was a little disappointed at the beginning with their service. There was no hostess and multiple waiters passed by me until someone took notice that I was waiting to be helped for a table. As for food, there was only a choice of 4 out of the 6 appetizers they listed online. I was slightly disappointed since I wanted to try the salmon cakes. I opted for the mussels instead and boy was I glad this was the one I chose. The sauce that came with the mussels made the dish. The garlic butter and white wine reduction sauce was delicious and oh so scrumptious. Definitely a winner. I tried my friend's fried mushrooms as well and those were delectable as well. Entrees were a little more disappointing. I ordered the Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna at medium rare which comes as a salad. I've had very good seared tuna before but certain pieces of tuna some times had a very fishy taste. I was not very impressed. My sister's lamb shank seemed like a better option, however she wasn't very impressed with it. As for desserts, this was the only reason my sister chose this place based on the items they listed online. However, we were disappointed when we realized they only had 3 of the 5 desserts on their actual HRW menu for us to choose from. Sigh...so my sister and friend opted for the Petite Chocolate Decadence & Baklava and I ordered the Crème Brulee. The creme brulee was delicious! I'm more a fan of lots of custard rather than a torched top so winner for me! As for the chocolate decadence and baklava, the chocolate decadence wasn't anything special, however the baklava was delicious. Nice and flaky, however I wish the portion size was bigger. Overall, I wouldn't come here as this restaurant is too far from where I live and the entrees weren't very impressive, however I did love the mussels and desserts. read more

My burger was BAD. Not good at all. All the components seemed like an after thought. (More details on my DINNER later) That being said, I don't believe this restaurant is meant for the Foodie. The client tell looks like REALLY old people trying to enjoy a night away from home with drinks served in mugs and wine glasses. And I'll admit it, if I were over 60, and I was looking to get pleasantly buzzed, this would be a nice place to do it. But I'm not.... I'm a foodie from NYC trying to get a good burger from the $15 they were asking and I failed... My burger was some where between lukewarm and cold. The two slices of Gouda cheese on my black Angus burger couldn't even melt on bacon or burger... Don't event get me started on that disgrace they called portobello mushrooms. SERIOUSLY?!! SMH. The bun didn't match the patty (super small compared to the brioche) and WORST of all was the "black Angus" was tasteless and under seasoned. The fries were lukewarm too (And a bit soggy). The wife liked her potato crushed salmon. Eh... I didn't have any. So the questions I had for the wife were: 1. Did you enjoy your food? 2. Would you go back? A: yes and NO. I have to agree with her. For a meal costing $42 without drinks, we want good food. And this cafe doesn't qualify in the "good food" category. It's a shame, the staff was great. read more

My friends and I were looking for a brunch spot in Katy after a long celebration. We decided on Cafe Benedicte because it had enough variety for everyone. We walked in to the sounds of a live piano. After about a few minutes, were seated at the table. The server brought water and took our order a few minutes later. I ordered the eggs benedict with a side of fruit and a bloody mary . My meal was very tasty. The bloody mary had a nice spice to it. I don't remember what my friends ordered but they were satisfied. The ambience was nice for a Sunday afternoon. I've come here several times for happy hour and lunch since it's so close to work. The owner is really nice, and the service has been pretty good each time - very attentive. I've tried the following menu items (1-5 with 5 being the best): Smoked Salmon Quesadillas: 5 (there is something about salmon quesadillas in general that I love..maybe it's the unusual combination instead of beef/chicken....so of course I loved this dish) Hummus with pita bread: 3 (I never understood what the hype is around hummus...thus, I can't tell what's considered good or bad...I thought it was pretty tasty but I'm forever a chips and salsa girl) Lasagna lazio: 4 Bowtie pasta putanesca: 4 Crepe brulee: 5! (I'm a "Creme Brulee lover". Why would I NOT give it a 5? The dish is unique in the sense that it's in a warm, crispy crepe. LOVE!) Homemade chocolate mousse and ganache cake: 4.5 (I'm not a huge chocolate fan since I think it tends to get rich after a couple of bites, but I think all the chocolate lovers out there will love it. Honestly this restaurant at was an amazing way to start my day. The ambiance was all the way there as well as the customer service that was displayed by the staff. My friend and I started off with the mimosas and they were absolutely refreshing. The food, the music, the service was exceptional. You can come here for breakfast, brunch or lunch and you won't be disappointed. We came on a Sunday around 12 and they had live music, which was exquisite taste and we didn't have reservation and let us sit as soon as we got here. My mother as been coming to Cafe Benedict for years now, and I always look forward to coming here for lunches or dinners when I'm in town visiting. This restaurant has a very cozy and casual yet classy atmosphere, and being regulars here for many years now, the owner (Vahid) has become like a good friend every time we come here. He's very friendly and personable, and will go around personally greeting and chatting with his customers, always making us feel welcomed, valued, and makes sure we're happy and well taken care of. Yes, the place often gets busy at both lunch and dinner times, and once in a blue moon the service may seem a tad slow, but the staff is more often than not a very nice, friendly, and helpful bunch. Our regular waitress is Jodie who's always very friendly and goes out of her way to take care of us. As for the food.....delicious! They have quite an extensive menu of very appetizing offerings which often makes it pretty difficult to decide. This is when getting the server's recommendation may be helpful. I love the salads here, whether they're Mediterranean or or the usual garden or Caesar salads. For entrees, I usually either order the Sea Bass or Chicken Marsala. For some mains you have the choice of a full serving or half serving, if you're not that hungry....which find a very good idea as I tend to over eat when the food is too yummy! :) My absolute favorite desert here is the Crepe Brulee. Delicious and for sure a definite must try. I'm not much of a sweet tooth dessert person (and also on a bit of a diet), but this is definitely something I'd make a once a year exception for :) Delicious food, nice and friendly service, cozy atmosphere.......I have a feeling we'll be regulars here for years to come. read more

It was a spontaneous trip for some great brunch. So we yelped it. I personally didn't read the reviews on here. We just looked at distance and star rating. I must say I was greatly satisfied. I was craving Eggs Benedict, but since I was being vegetarian for that day I had to order the vegetarian version. So I ended up with the Florentine Benedict which was still sooo amazing. I loved the fresh butter and jams served to us with bread while we waited for our food. Their orange marmalade with fresh whipped butter on their fresh bread was delish. That was already setting my mood for my main course. And when i got my dish. I loved loved it. I couldn't even finish it. I wanted to take it home but it would have gone bad since we were going out elsewhere. I would definitely go back and try out their regular menu. It also looks amazing. But as for now the Brunch menu is awesome. I want to go back and try out most of the entrees on there. Ah and service was great too. Initially I felt the waitress had a bit of an attitude, but that was just my initial impression I think its a young person thing. We hosted our event this last weekend at Cafe Benedicte. There is probably only one way to describe it: SUPERB. We offered five entree choices on our menu (Lasagna, Potato-Crusted Salmon, Chicken Picatta, Beef Provencal and Tomato Basil Angel Hair with Shrimp & Scallops) and two dessert choices (Fruit Tart and Chocolate Decadence). Everything was absolutely delicious, as every dish was chosen at the rehearsal dinner and I received compliments from all guests. The entire service staff was so accommodating. Of all things, I (along with a few members of my family) arrived late due to weather complications and airline delays. No worries! The Cafe Benedicte staff took care of our other guests nicely until we did arrive about a half hour late. I was so grateful that they covered for me! I could go into excruciating detail about the professionalism of Steve and the rest of the staff. I could tell you about the beautiful presentation and tastes on every plate. But I'll let some of you other Yelpers find out for yourself what a wonderful restaurant this is. If I had it to do over, I'd be booking Cafe Benedicte again. I was in the area looking for lunch after a long client meeting and stumbled on this place: so I skipped the valet hovering up front and parked myself further down. The menus here is "Mediterranean", but not from any one region: there are items in the menu from North Africa to Southern Europe plus Persia (Iran). Made me wonder if they really mastered these or was I going to be going on a roller coaster ride. I settled on Hummus with ground lamb (from the appetizer menu) plus a bowl of lentil soup: these are 'comfort foods' is our family. The hummus was kind of light, almost bland, and seemingly missing a prime ingredient (tahini) and the lamb was missing seasoning. The lentil soup was tasty even with the heavy handed salt in it. The authentic owner was walking around, saying hello to guests. If this restaurant was in a busy Houston area it would be totally packed - because it is that good! We came here because we saw the Yelp pictures and wanted some breakfast food. We saw the egg Benedict and we thought ooooh yeah. We didn't check the menu like we usually do (bummer.) Arrived here around noon and it was pretty empty, the atmosphere was more on the fine dining side. We were a little bit underdressed, but our server was still very kind to us. The service is what gave away the fine dining feel, along with the menu, a little overpriced in my opinion. We started off with the hummus platter (3/5): it was a lamb mixed hummus and I wasn't a bit fan, although the pita chips were really good. Lobster bisque (4/5): creamy and really good. A small amount of lobster but still pretty tasty. A cup should suffice because it is really heavy. Chicken piri piri (3/5): the creamy sauce was really good on this dish and the presentation was amazing! The chicken breasts were cooked well but the vegetable mix that it came with didn't blend well. I would probably opt for substituting a different form of veggies next time. Lasagna (5/5): YUM! It was a very tasty dish, and it definitely satisfied my lasagna craving. The crunchy toast it came with paired perfectly. Lobster risotto (1/5): I would avoid this dish. No lobster to be found in it, it was also really really heavy and thick. We barely touched the dish and just had to take it to go and hopefully we'll be starving enough to eat it lol. We had a few other dishes but they weren't too memorable. Their cappuccinos are good as well. The service was on point, I literally never needed a refill because after a few sips someone would come and refill my tea right away. Visited for lunch on Friday but I think the heavy rain had stopped the usual large crowds from leaving their offices as I'm told it's usually difficult to get a parking spot in the small lot outside Friendly waiter accommodated my dining partners substitution request without any trouble and our tasty food arrived promptly (good when on limited lunchtime) I ordered the ahi tuna sandwich which was really tasty although a little messy to eat as the juices flowed with each bite. My side of sweet potato fries arrived a little after our main dishes were served and were the thin crispy type so not worth the calories sadly Attentive waiters refilled our drinks whenever they passed out table. Discovered this place for a light dinner on Friday night and enjoyed it so much we came back for brunch on Saturday morning. We are from out of town and it was the closest place your hotels good Yelp reviews but honestly-the mussels in white wine blew us away as did the salmon quesadilla. Dinner w drinks for only $44? So glad I found this little gem! Came here for brunch with my girlfriends after reading some other reviews. There aren't too many brunch spots out West, but I now have a new favorite. The wait staff was amazing. Spot on top of things without being annoying. Very friendly too. The food was yummy! I wanted Eggs Bene, but I don't eat meat. Service was a little disappointing just because it was so slow, our waiter was slow and the food took forever. Now on to the food! My friend had her bridal shower here. Great place for private parties! We had a huge private room with its own entrance/exit and bathroom. Waiters/ waitresses walked around taking drink orders as we stood around mingling. When we sat down (30 people about 5 long tables plus room for gift tables and dessert table) the waiters promptly took our orders from a preset menu. I had the sliders with sweet potatoe fries and mimosas. It was so very delish! I ate every bit! The only minus was I was not given any water which I think should have automatically be served. We ordered mussel with wine as appetizer. The garlic sauce was perfect with bread. We ordered beef Provençal as entree. The sauce is pretty yummy to me except the beef was a lit too chewy. The concept of the restaurant is Mediterranean, or better put, great foods from the countries that touch the Mediterranean Sea. We had the baked brie for an appetizer and it was great. The owner came over and checked on us and consulted on our dinner choices. I had the North African Couscous, and my wife opted for the Lamb Shank. We enjoyed our salad course of Persian Salad and a Caprese Salad. When the entrees arrived, we couldn't have been more pleased. My wife's lamb shank fell of the bone withers and tasted wonderful. The North African couscous was spectacular. The owner informed me it was a Moroccan dish. We finished dinner with some grappa and a flourless chocolate cake. I went here with my family for Easter Brunch. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The pluses were reasonable prices (at least for brunch), friendly service, and I had the Tempura Salmon Benedict, which was very delicious. My mom also really enjoyed the spinach omelet. The minuses were the coffee was very meh (think IHOP-quality coffee), I make better mimosas at home, and the roasted potatoes tasted like they were cooked in very old oil. This was definitely not a terrible place to eat brunch and I would be willing to go again, but next time I would get the Tempura Salmon Benedict, fruit (the fruit cup looked very good), and drink coffee before I got there. read more
