Everything we ordered, from the drinks to the desserts, was expertly prepared and delicious. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive and seemed to know exactly what we needed throughout the meal. He was knowledgeable when discussing menu options and specials, offered helpful recommendations, kept our drinks refreshed, and paid close attention to every detail that made the experience exceptional. The atmosphere was exactly what we expected from Brenner's...elegant, comfortable, and perfect for a memorable dining experience. We enjoyed the evening so much that we hardly took any pictures of the food. In fact, everything looked and tasted so good that snapping photos before digging in completely slipped our minds! We ate at Brenner's Steakhouse last night for our 5 year wedding anniversary. The hostesses were great and seated us right away, and the food was excellent from start to finish. We were also surprised by how big and nice the restaurant is. Unfortunately, the service really missed the mark. Our server, Lauren, was barely present. She hardly checked on us, my drink was never refilled (only the water attendant helped), and when we asked for the check, it was dropped off without a thank-you or any interaction at all. She also never asked if we were celebrating anything, which was disappointing given the occasion. It honestly felt like other tables received much better service. I don't want to assume why, but it definitely stood out. I'd come back for the food, but I would absolutely request a different server. What an absolutely lovely experience from the valet to the bartenders to our now favorite waitress Rebecca to whoever cooked our steaks, which were absolutely perfectly done not to mention every side to the manager, who was busy visiting folks asking about dining experience to the ambience, which is absolutely wonderful. Frankly, I'm not sure that I can give enough compliments for our experience at Brenner's last night. This was not my first experience with this fine restaurant however, I have not been here in years and frankly it seems that in my absence, it has become a more wonderful dining experience. I noticed that the rating was not as high as I have given it so I will read through some of those criticisms but last night everything was spot on. Whenever I see a manager out walking the floor, standing with the hostesses as customers come in it's almost a sign that the dining experience is going to be wonderful which it was. It has always been a lovely location in the inside is well decorated cozy even though there's a large number of diners, but it is truly a wonderful dining experience. Went for lunch on Friday. Nice dinning room, very peaceful and old school feeling with a view to their courtyard/garden. Complimentary bread was good and we tried the meatballs filled with cheese and had the crab cake. The meatballs had a sauce they came with it that complimented them, really enjoyed those. The crab cake was good as well better than most, I usually don't like crab cake. Our main entrees with 8 oz fillets which were all cooked perfect with a nice crust and touch of sauce on the plate. One of us had the mushroom creek topping which was excellent. The sides are shareable and we tried au gratin potatoes, Cajun cream corn and lobster Mac. All great. Recently, I visited Brenner's Steakhouse during Houston Restaurant Weeks. I figured this would be a great opportunity to try a place I'd never been before at a lower price with lower stakes. We always pass by this place on the way into Houston from katy and have been curious about it for a while. Parking was great and there was even security and valet. When we sat down, they handed us the regular menu, and we had to ask for the HRW menu. The waiter was nice and attentive, though I did have to ask for my water to be refilled. The ambiance was cozy, and it seems like the restaurant is in a converted house. I'll cut to the chase, I did not enjoy the food and I won't be back. Here's why, dish by dish. For context, I also went to Pappas Bros. Steakhouse for HRW at the same price, and it was laughable how much better they were in every way. I'm critiquing hard because at this price point, I expect PERFECTION, nothing less. Lobster Bisque - 3/5 This was actually good. It was creamy, there was plenty of lobster, and the flavor was nicely layered. Wedge Salad - 1/5 We did not like this at all. The dressing is made in-house and unique to Brenner's, but it was strange.. sweet and sour with random jalapeños thrown on top. I don't understand the concept of this. Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes - 2/5 This was the biggest letdown of the night (even worse than the desserts). Why on God's green earth would they cover a filet mignon with gravy?!??!!! The gravy was terrible and completely ruined the steak. Maybe it was meant to cover up the poor cut I received because there were tendons in it. Maybe it was to distract from the fact that there was barely a sear. The mashed potatoes were absolutely flavorless desperately needing salt, pepper and garlic. I can't think of mashed potatoes I've had worse than this. Potatoes Au Gratin - 3/5 These were okay. It tasted like they used yellow/orange cheese. I prefer only white cheeses in au gratin. Bread Pudding - 1/5 So dry. The ice cream was the only redeeming part of the plate. I couldn't eat more than two bites. It was really, really bad. Cheesecake - 2/5 The flavor was decent, but it was just sad to look at. No finesse, no care..just ugly and thin and sad. That pic I posted comparing the two is all you need to know. Came to Brenner's Steakhouse yesterday for Houston Restaurant Week, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. We started with the BLT wedge salad and lobster bisque -- both were hits and really set the tone for the meal. For our mains, we each had the 6oz filet, paired with brussels sprouts as a side. The filets were incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. The peppercorn steak sauce was a pleasant surprise -- I'm usually not a big fan of steak sauces, but this one was done really well and complemented the meat nicely. Dessert wrapped things up on a sweet note with a brownie and cheesecake. Both were rich and satisfying, the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, the ambience was cozy and homey, creating a great atmosphere for the evening. Service was stellar -- the staff was warm, friendly, and attentive, which made the whole dining experience even better. Overall, Brenner's delivered on every front. It's sad when a favorite restaurant becomes less so. I've been here so many times in the past and enjoyed a great meal, but my last was a disaster. It started with a table reservation that made us sit for 20 minutes and I felt like the manager was finding a way to ignore my group. It ended with the kitchen delivering my $110 steak mis cooked twice. Even the lobster bisque wasn't right today. The lobster was really chewy and the bisque was too watery to hold that pronoun. Maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen? I'm usually patient on such things but when I get sold on buying a premium cut I should expect it cooked to perfection. read more

Had the worst experience Wednesday, May 20,2026. We made a reservation for 5pm for 3 girls and reserved the corner table in the bar. When we arrived the table we requested was occupied. They were finishing their meal and one of the 4 at the table ordered a coffee. We sat at the bar and had a cocktail waiting for our table to be ready. The bartender Rob had a rude attitude and threw a lime peel hunk in my friends martini. After waiting over an hour for the people to leave at our reserved table which we made the reservation a week ahead of time and love Brenner's and that table. We spoke with the hostess and she said there was nothing we could do to hurry the people at our reserved table. My sister went to the table and kindly, nicely explained that we were waiting on the table. At this point, the 4 people were just sitting there, no food, no drinks. Then my other friend went over and explained that we had hired a driver for 2 hours who was waiting for us in the parking lot and that my sister had lost her son in December and that May 21 would be his 47th birthday and 5 months since his death. (we were trying to get her mind off things and to have a nice relaxing evening) The man sitting at the table said "he didn't see why that was their problem". Then the manager, Jason Fletcher, came over and said we were accosting those people and if we wanted a table in the main dining room that it would be an hour wait. At that point we paid our tab, left and went to Capital Grille. My family has been in the restaurant business and would have never let that happen. Rob, the bartender, and Jason, the manager, should be FIRED. They had NO class and treated us like we were the problem. A girl who was sitting at the bar while we were waiting, texted me that at around 9pm is when the 4 at that table left (so basically they held that table from 4pm to 9pm. POOR MANAGEMENT. We have always loved Brenner's Steakhouse I-10, and have been coming for years. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. read more

The last time I was here was my Prom in 2000! Lol. It truly hasn't changed much (if at all!) since, and the location is convenient. However, a homeless person was walking on the sidewalk eyeing me with harmful intent (it seemed) while I was leaving the (very large!) parking lot. The staff is super nice and the food was pretty good, considering as we were there for a lunch to celebrate with a large group in the private room in the back. Barely a sear on it and it appeared to be a low quality cut. Lobster Mac and cheese was $36 and quite unremarkable. Asparagus was cooked well but lacked flavor completely. I must say this might be my new favorite steakhouse in Houston! We didn't make a reservation but we had both just got off work and its location is pretty close. Let me start by saying this was the BEST service I have ever had in Houston. HANDS down. We made no reservation so they escorted us to the back building through the indoor patio which was GORGEOUS and made us both nostalgic of the nicest restaurant we used to go to in Europe; it had tiny little fountains and was the most romantic place I have been in Houston. Our waitresses name was Miranda and she was way too nice! I have a food allergy to garlic so she made two of everything so we both could enjoy. We ordered to start the east coast oysters with two glasses of white wine to pair with the taste. They came with three different sauces but I would recommend the vinaigrette one with minced onions. Do recommend East coast oysters over any other of you enjoy them. We then moved on to the grilled salmon and 10 oz. Filet mignon; we ordered it medium rare and I must say it is now my favorite steak in Houston. The grilled salmon was great but my going to a steakhouse I'd recommend a steak. They brought garlic butter for each of us for our entrees which even made it better. The bottle of wine paired perfect with the steaks so you honestly don't even need the butter if you add the bottle of wine. And last of all I would like to thank the staff for being so polite and being so nice! I called to ask for their names to commend them! Ask for Miranda if you eat here or a woman named ximina. Went last week with my family but was immediately insulted and turned away dismissively by the hostess stand for daring to wear khaki shorts and a Polo button-down into their establishment. Folks, it's Texas. It's a Wednesday night in summer. Keep in mind that this is a suburban, Fertitta-chain restaurant in Houston, we're not talking the French Laundry here. The steakhouse right up the street was more than happy to take our $500 and the food was better anyway. OK sure, they post their dress code in the lobby, and apparently on their website. But putting up signs telling everyone that you're condescendingly pretentious in advance just means you're proud of your condescending pretentiousness. This is the kind of place that cones off their parking lot to be valet-only when the lot is never more than half full. Get real guys... not only is this place outside the Loop, it's outside the Beltway.... and apparently outside their minds. I mean, you're surrounded by a Carvana, a Smoke N Toke, and a Comedy Defensive Driving... and you want to require dinner jackets? The lack of self-awareness here is just amazing. You do you, Brenner's, lol... We live right up the street, and we like steak. We eat out a lot, and we even have closets full of what you deem to be acceptable clothing. But we will NEVER be back. I'm not sure what was going on today with lunch. We arrived around 11:30 AM.to a fairly empty parking lot. We went in to find a few customers, probably three or four two-tops and one six-top. No problem, we went about ordering, what we hoped to be, a nice lunch. My wife ordered the Fried Goat Cheese, while I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail for appetizers. We then ordered their Steakhouse Wedge and a Greek Salad, followed by their 8 oz. Filet and Fried Shrimp, with two Iced Teas. The Fried Goat Cheese was very good, as were the salads. The Shrimp Cocktail consisted of three very large shrimp on a bed of ice with cocktail sauce . Good but very pricey at over $20. My wife said the steak was OK, but texture was a bit "mealy". The Fried Shrimp was another story. They were tough and dry, grossly over cooked. I ate two out of the six before the waitress checked back, and I told here they really were not very good. She asked what she could do, so I asked if the could have the cook cook them less. She took those away and brought back five shrimp and a partial order of fries. These were much better, but it should never have happened in the first place. I'm not sure why they cut back the fries. When the bill came, it totaled $182.00 - $220.00 with tip - for two people drinking iced tea. In my opinion, a bit much for what we got. read more

Ok ok ok - what a disappointment. Thought this old Brenner's steakhouse would be a classic for memorable experiences, but it turned out to be memorable in all the wrong ways. Although the bar is tiny, it is well staffed with two bartenders with no concept of customer service. You literally have to wave both hands high in the air to get served. Come on- there are 2 bartenders and 6 bar stools...what gives!? Oblivious to the customer sitting 2 feet in front of them. How can you charge $25 for a cocktail and not provide the tiniest morsel of service to go with it? Nada. Sad. Table service only grew more disappointing. Inattentive, indifferent, inept, not sure.....but it was inexcusable. Whatever it was they attempted to provide lacked in execution and effort. The level of service did not match the beautiful decor and the delicious food. But you have to have all three. Delicious bacon with a hair in it loses all of its appeal. Mouthwatering pie served with a scoop of attitude does not go down well. Spending nearly $500 on drinks and food and leaving with a mindset that you will never step foot in this place again says more than any review can. Turn that water wheel off, hire competent managers, and train your staff to take care of your guests. Or just change your sign to Applebees and all will be good. Your choice. read more

Had both my college and high school graduation dinners here. Brenner's *was* a family-owned steakhouse that was a true gem with an interesting menu. But a mega corp with hundreds of restaurants bought it - ostensibly to 'preserve it' - over a decade ago. The food, service and overall vibe of the place has changed for the worse in recent years. I've been to excellent steakhouses worldwide (Berns in Tampa, Shima in Tokyo, Rockpool in Sydney..) but IMHO Brenner's is now just not worth the $$$. Most recently, I came here for Thanksgiving dinner. Brenner's advertised both prime rib and a 'turkey plate' as part of its offerings for the holiday. Arrived at 4:30pm to a less than warm welcome by the major domo. Seated promptly in a little building away from the main dining room. It was LOUD. Our waiter was kind but not well trained. Informed us that they were out of prime rib as advertised. Been out for hours. The turkey plate ($65) consisted of turkey, stuffing and sweet potato mash. That's it. Green beans extra ($14). And NO cranberry sauce available. What? No cranberries? Pass! Had high hopes for a Thanksgiving turkey meal but a Luby's cafeteria would likely offer something more inspiring. I ended up ordering a filet mignon ($72) and two sides ($27 total). With a glass of Bourdeaux ($18 for what I'm guessing was a 4 oz pour of La Rame). Did I mention it was LOUD. Service was bizarre. Standard things were overlooked. Everything had to be requested - no salt and pepper on the table (or any table). Oddly, I had to request that the waiter bring the salt/pepper shakers to the table - only to be taken away a few minutes later. No lemon wedges for seafood. No sugar for the coffee, etc etc. Unless you asked. Highly Yelp-rated bread basket with 3 types of bread never appeared. A manager came by to ask about our experience - told him 'disappointed' and asked him why the advertised Thanksgiving offerings were either weak or non-existent. Unapologetic response. Specific questions about allergens and the origin of a salmon dish (farmed?) took trips back to the kitchen to figure out (better training would have prevented these lapses). Perhaps we were in the 'cheap seats' lol? One star for the Apfel strudel dessert ($14) - it was very good. No stars for service, the unconcerned management and average food (for the $$$). Life's too short to see a holiday ruined. I don't think I would ever return to Brenner's. Houston has many fine steakhouses (e.g., Taste of Texas is just a mile down the road). We come here a few times a year for special occasions and usually love it--but this visit was a letdown. We always order the lobster bisque soup and it was way too salty. We also tried the bone marrow appetizer our server recommended, but it was too oily and the pita chips tasted stale. The steak, as always, was perfectly cooked, and the mac and cheese was delicious--those were the highlights. (Not like me) But rest assure, it is over the top good. There were 4 in our party. The steaks were some of the best we've ever had in Houston (everyone agreed)... Experience 5 stars, food 4-4.5 stars. Out of all the steakhouses I've tried in the Houston area, this is my 3rd favorite place. From start to finish the service was excellent. Staff was very friendly. Complimentary bread was brought out (3 types, not sure what they're called). Cocktails: Señora Diamante & 12 Point Stag, both were good! Decided to order from the regular menu and Houston Restaurant Week menu. Appetizers: Jumbo Lump Crab cake & Bang bang rock shrimp; both were delicious but the crab cake is slightly salty. Still enjoyed it though. The shrimp stayed crispy and the sauce was savory! For HRW, I upgraded the soup du jour (tomato basil) to a lobster bisque; only a $3 upgrade. The lobster bisque was delicious. Did get to try some of the SO's tomato basil. Wished we didn't finish the bread so we could've dipped it in the soup! HRW entree: 6 oz center cut filet mignon with French green beans, demi-glace was ok; our waiter Marlon recommended cognac peppercorn sauce that added a unique flavor to the steak HRW dessert: croissant bread pudding (sweet & delicious, paired well with the dulce de leche ice cream) Overall enjoyed our time here. This place has a gorgeous atmosphere, top notch service, and delicious food! It's been 24 years since my previous dining experience for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. In 2000, reviews and social media weren't available, so I'm excited I finally get to review this place! The picturesque restaurant is perfect for celebrating big events or just a night out for drinks and appetizers in the bar area. Having done both of these, I can say I was exceptionally pleased with both of my experiences. Even though my first experience was 24 years ago, it was very memorable. We sat in the main dining area next to a large window which was perfect for viewing the lavish courtyard. My first time there was during the afternoon in the month of May. Everything was great. Our service for a table of 9 was first class. The courtyard was so well maintained and makes you feel like you're in a different country. It is absolutely the prettiest restaurant scenery in Houston! My second time to Brenner's was at night, also in the month of May. I figured I wouldn't get as much of a view since it was dark outside, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The courtyard was illuminated with beautiful string lighting to see all the waterfalls, greenery, and pathways. I can't express enough how lovely the space is and how much I enjoyed it. I'm sure the courtyard has seen its share of proposals. It's exactly what a woman imagines and the backdrop would be perfect for photographing the memorable moment. We sat in the bar area for a drink and to split a couple appetizers. The service was fantastic. Both servers behind the bar were friendly and fun. They make a great Old Fashioned! We ordered the crab cake and the Bang Bang Rock shrimp. I've never been a huge crab cake fan, until now! That was the best crab cake I've ever had, hands down! We ordered it because the bartender said it was the best in town and he was right! I always order crab cakes hoping to find one I like, but I've been unsuccessful until now. The bite sized shrimp appetizer was also very good. Nice crisp and a light sauce. I would order both items again. Brenner's sells cigars and even has a cigar menu. This place is swanky but also low key. You'll see women in cocktail dresses, but also women in jeans; men in suits, but also men in jeans. I wouldn't advise showing up in shorts and flip flops, but you don't have to be dressed to the nines. Came here with a large group (15) and had a private room. So my experience is likely different than a standard visitor, but I can say the way I was handled was perfect. Alex, who was our server for the night was communicative the entire way through our party and had numerous great and helpful suggestions. Can't say enough good about him. The Burgundy room we had is a lot like the restaurant as a whole; an intimate environment that caters to your specific tastes. There's an old school vibe here, but in a welcoming way. Large outdoor area that's beautifully manicured to offset an atypically smaller dining room. The steaks were perfect. With such a large group I didn't hear one complaint about cook/temp and the seasoning isn't absent or overpowering. The selection is amazing and at a great price in this inflation vortex. Sides were a little lack luster, with the au gratin potatoes being the lone standout. Apps also were about what you expect, our crab cake was great. What an amazing beautiful restaurant it's cozy and elegant and we came with our friends that were celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The staff were kind and attentive to us all, and the food was so yummy, and its presentation was amazing. My wife had the snapper, Milagros, and I had the salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Papa had a delicious steak and oysters along with great Martini and wine. After savoring all the great dishes, we ordered a sweet cake for the love birds celebrating their anniversary, and we walked into the garden to take photos. Thanks for the hospitality and great food. Party of four. Two ordered steaks which were superb. One order of scallops on a bed of corn - scallops were great but the corn seemed literally dumped out of a can. Very poor taste. Last person ordered the snapper and it was super dry. Ordered the au gratin potatoes and the brussel sprouts which were also very good and tasty. Service was just ok, waitress was missing quite often. Desserts did not disappoint at all, best crème brulee around. Overall, I'd visit again but no seafood and would pray for better service. read more

Came as part of a large group for a private dinner service to celebrate a special occasion. Located along BW8 and I10, Brenner's is owned by the Ferttita's amongst many other Houston restaurants. Parking is available in their adjacent lot; valet is offered up front and there is also self parking towards the back of the lot. Interior is very high end steakhouse esque with the level of service to match. Apps were good, hits and misses were present but mostly good steakhouse app options. Really liked their Caesar; it was a bit heavy on the sauce but the portion was huge and the taste is pretty spot on. For the main, we chose a ribeye and a lamb chop. Both were cooked decently per spec and well seasoned and done well. Overall it's a very high end Houston classic steak house similar to a Vic and Anthony's in terms of quality, vibe, and price point. read more

Hadn't been here for some time but remember it as a great old style, or classical Texas steak house. To cut to the chase the ambience was excellent and the hostess was courteous and the food was excellent. Where three stars were lost was the rushing us through the whole experience to turn the table over. When we arrive we like to have a cocktail, a dirt martini in this case which was on point, and whilst drinking it study the menu to choose an appetizer. In this case we were asked repeatedly what appetizer we wanted. We had the oysters and before they arrived and the cocktails arrived we were being asked to place our entree order - which we did after being assured that the order would not be put in straight away. Well as soon as the empty oyster tray was removed the entree was placed on the table. No time to order wine to accompany the food. The same was the experience with the dessert, being asked multiple times. The oysters were great, the special 6 oz fillet was first class as was the sauce and the spinach. The snapper was good my wife attested to and the chocolate cake great. We were in and out in less than an hour having had a three course meal! Of course I tipped 20% - good serving is an art, knowing when to step in and when to give the table time. We really appreciate how getting that right after last nights experience (12/12/2025). Also firmly expressing our desire to take our time needs to be something I need to develop. Only two stars for my performance, as well. read more
