I am a Chef. There were some issues but I would definitely return soon! The service was professional. The ambiance was more diner than cafe, but still enjoyable. Sitting at the bar gives you a very good view of the kitchen activity (the kitchen was superficially clean but could use a deep clean / new equipment). The blueberry bowl was fantastic, 5/5. The blended dates give it a wonderfully creamy mouthfeel. The burger a solid 4 Pros: The bun was grilled, it wasn't oily or greasy, rhe use of kofta is very creative, the egg was perfect in the middle, the potatoes were wonderfully seasoned and I appreciate that they aren't deep fried. Cons: The sauce needs work, it was very underwhelming, it gets lost between the spices from the potatoes and the richness of the kofta. Add spices and maybe Sriracha? The salad was swimming in dressing and the meat was much closer to well done than medium. Also, I wouldn't order bacon from this restaurant unless you like it very crispy. read more

We went here for a quick brunch which was very easy to get a table. We sat up in the front, which is the most glamorous thing to look out, but the weather was nice. It's right next to the orange wine so that can get pretty busy. The food came out really fast, probably about 10 minutes after we ordered. I got their egg Benedict, which was simple and easy. Stopped here while visiting Boston for work- amazing menu! Came back every day that I was in-town thereafter. Stop looking for where to eat-- COME HERE! Stopped here for late breakfast this morning with my boyfriend and we LOVED it! First off all, the hospitality was wonderful-- we were kindly showed to our table by a gentleman and had the choice to have our coats hung up. We took a seat at the bar and got some hot coffee and two delicious meals. My boyfriend got the breakfast burger which he thoroughly enjoyed and I got the plant based sausage and egg sandwich which was to die for. I went on a Sunday right around 12:30. There were quite a few groups of people waiting outdoor. This place is located in a very walkable spot, in the financial district very close to Boston common and Chinatown. But I would not recommend leaving the entrance unless there're more than 10 groups ahead of you. Because the line does go faster than you think. I sat at the bar, which faces the kitchen. Food was delicious, but the place was very loud. I ordered the bonjour omelet. Absolutely love it, the omelet and the potatoes and even salad was great. The portion is about right. Alrighty here in Boston for a couple of days and I haven't been here in over 10 years so I needed to recap my taste buds Ambiance: it's a small restaurant, and we got here at peak time... so I expected to wait... maybe 20-30 mins however, we were seated within 5mins of putting our name down which was a shock... the place was busy and to my surprise we got seated so fast!! Food: i got the shakshuka, apple pie crape and the Benedict... all were amazing!! I've had shakshuka before but it feels like someone's nona (grandma) was in the back making them so I highly recommend it! I ordered scrambled eggs on baguette with bacon and "special sauce". It came with potatoes and a green salad. Plenty of food! The sandwich was ok. The bacon was a bit odd. It wasn't turkey bacon (or maybe it was? But it didn't specify that in the menu) but had more of that appearance and texture. I was expecting fresh baguette, with crisp golden crust on the outside but this baguette was soft all around. It reminded me of a hoagie roll. The menu described "melty cheese" and I didn't experience that at all. The Nutella crepe that we ordered had plenty of strawberries and bananas but not a lot of Nutella. My Bloody Mary was pretty watery. My kid had the steak and eggs and she said it was ok. We definitely left full, however. The portions are large, I could not finish my food. This place was one of the highlights of our short Boston trip. It was nearby our Airbnb so we decided to try it out. It was raining heavily outside and was close to 10:30am on a weekday (Monday) so I was a little surprised that it had a line when we arrived. Thankfully, as other reviews have stated, they really are good at moving people through and we were seated pretty quickly. The service was friendly and professional, they are very quick and efficient too. The food was all very well seasoned and cooked just right. Their breakfast potatoes were really tasty and the omelet that I ordered was delicious. The drinks were also excellent--I ordered a cappuccino and it was perfect for a rainy day. The rest of my party all loved their food and drink orders as well. As for price, it wasn't as expensive as a lot of places in the area. The food here is excellent. My girlfriend and I went here looking for a good brunch in Boston. Honestly the only reason I did not rate higher was because of the host. He was very pushy at the end of my experience there. He asked me if I could vacate the table so he could seat others. Which understandably I did but he did not approach any other tables that were similarly situated and had been seated longer than my table was. From order to finish we were only there maybe 20 minutes. The eggs benedict were cooked to perfection. I was impressed by their precision of getting the yolks perfect and the seasoning was spot on. I wish the potatoes were cooked a hair longer to crisp the edges but they were flavorful. All in all a good a experience. I just hope they can do better to improve on that anxiety inducing request as customers are taking their time enjoy the food. Truly doing the kitchen a disservice on this one. read more

My friend is vegetarian and I am... not, haha. So finding a place where we both could order something before we set out for the day was great. I stayed in an AirBnB right around the corner last year and I had no idea this place existed. Shows that all it takes is a little curiosity and some extra steps to find a gem like this place. We were there on a Wednesday morning and it was packed but the wait was less than five mins when we walked up so I'm sure on the weekends it's much longer. The owners are so friendly and the servers were quick, attentive. It's a small place so the tables are very close together like most restaurants in the city but I didn't mind. The tables are a little small but once we were able to move things around when our food came, we were set. The portion sizes are huge! I couldn't finish my breakfast sandwich but not for lack of trying! The potatoes had just the right amount of crunch around the edges and the Bonjour sauce... so freakin' good! This is an amazing place for breakfast. The staff are extremely friendly there is lots of variety on the menu. I also love how they are open for breakfast 7 days a week! The prices are very reasonable and the portions are great, and the restaurant itself has a very nice and comfortable vibe. Owners should consider renaming it Café Bon débarras! I understand how the restaurant business works. I understand that turning tables is important. But doing it at the cost of insulting your customers is a serious faux pas. My husband and I came here on a Friday morning and found it to be surprisingly full. Nonetheless, we were seated right away, and the staff was welcoming and friendly. The food was good. The lattes were excellent. However, while I was still finishing my huge latte and chatting with my husband, the waiter came abruptly and hovered over us with the payment machine, clearly asking for payment without so much as asking if we were finished or even pretending to care if we were ready for the check. In fact, he didn't say one word. Not "how was everything?" Or "Can I get you anything else?" It was so obvious he was done with us and wanted to move on, he might as well have lassoed us and led us out the front door, or just flipped the table over and said "GTFO." Actually, I might have appreciated that honesty more. I'd say go for the food, but not for a leisurely breakfast or lunch. You are not as important as the person waiting behind you. Would have been 4 stars but for this. Could have just been the waiter or the day, so give it a try. But bring a "to go" cup for your latte. ;) read more

Tourist trap. Check arrived unprompted, unexplained less than 2 minutes after brunch order was delivered to the table. 2 stars. The end. Even if this is a busy, touristy place with high turnaround, and you truly are trying to drive us out (which is extremely rude aleady and some may consider unacceptable) at least drop off the check with a comment to the tune of "here's the check, but please that your time." But no such cursory politeness was even offered. Brunch was average. My poached eggs were nice and runny. Hubs' omelet was bland according to him and when I tried a bite, I didn't care for a second. The assortment of bread and pastries (at the price of an entree) was an abomination. 1 plain croissant, 2 half muffins. That's it! Oh and a tiny ramekin of jam. They also throw your toast and bread which would have come free with ur entrees on top of the "assortment" to make it look fuller. Appalled. Why didn't I just order a croissant and a muffin. I wanted an assortment! I understand it's often packed, but there was only one party waiting that weekday morning and no one even came to ask how our meal was going. Oh almost forgot, the coffee was terrible. Weak and SOUR. Not sure why the high reviews, but I can only guess because it's a tourist trap. My yelp rating legend: 5: A+ Worth a special journey (ie. Great Yelp reviews + a 20-30 minute wait set my expectations very high. Fun and playful host out front. Small interior, but fun because clearly this is a go-to spot. Not a problem, I read Yelp, and will go with a top selection from here, Salmon Avocado Tartine. Assembled and brought out very quickly. Poached egg. Oh boy! Super excited. Disappointment. Wonderful ingredients. Avocado, salmon, both hit individually. Poached egg was perfect. But it lacked cohesion, I think from missing a sauce to tie it together and the bread at the bottom was not toasted and was soggy from everything on top. The dish will be memorable for being so close to wonderful, but what it missed made it a solid "meh". I'm being harsh, but everything else delivered a wonderful dining experience. We got there and got seated pretty quickly for it being a busy, small, compact establishment. It is quite loud inside but we got our food pretty quickly. The croque monsieur baguette was huge. It's been a while since I have such a delicious brunch! I was visiting Boston and was hoping to find a good spot. This spot was so good I came by twice during my visit. It is a busy and bustling place so definitely expect a wait any day if the week. It was worth it. Both visits, the restaurant was jam packed. The first time I ordered the signature scramble and strawberry crepe with Nutella. Both dishes were delicious, especially the scramble. The potatoes and Bonjour sauce are a must. The avocado lacks in the sandwich, but the baguette is soft and flavorful and the eggs are cooked well. Service is okay, servers are kind but you barely see them so if you need something it might be a bit of a challenge. During my second visit I ordered the signature scramble again and this time ordered the French toast. Scramble was good and the French toast was unfortunately not too good. The bread was a bit hard and it was cold. We even sent it back and when we got it back it was the same way. Items are well priced and portions are generous.
