Visiting Boston and decided to try something unique. Had no idea what I was walking into with the Shakshuka but it was very good. Savory and complex and not too spicy. The staff was friendly and gave suggestions on things to see in the area. It's a small location but they're efficient with an open kitchen. My wife had the Nutella stuffed French toast and she adored it.
We ate there two days in a row. Excellent service and food. The restaurant was full both times we were there. On Sunday morning we arrived at 8:30 and were seated right away. When we left an hour later, about 30 people were waiting for a table. Today on Labor Day, we arrived at 11:00 and waited 15 minutes for a table.
Cafe Bonjour is a brunch place in downtown Boston, popular on Instagram for it's quality food and hype. The place does not take reservations and the wait is LONG. However, it's close to Boston Common and the public garden so there's things to do to while you wait. The owner and staff are super nice and friendly. They're cognizant that people wait a long time to eat at their establishment and treat you with kindness when you're inside. It is very cramped and the tables are close together, but the rustic feeling makes it a great place to catch up with 1 or 2 friends. There's a wide variety of breakfast/brunch items, so there's something on the menu for everyone. The kitchen also is good about substitutions. Additionally, the portions are reasonable for the price, especially for the area. Most entrees come with a salad, which was a fun surprise. I got the Signature Scramble and liked the variety in the dish. The eggs did have caramelized onions, which I picked out, but there was a good amount of sauce and flavor on the plate. This place has been on my Boston brunch bucket list, so I'm glad that I've gone. I'd recommend this place to people who appreciate a good meal, but wouldn't take people who are impatient or claustrophobic.
The restaurant is tiny. The service is quick, and the crepe was epic. A delicious blend of goat cheese, honey, nuts and ham inside a fluffy paper thin crepe.
This is the first brunch joint I've tried in Boston and I was not disappointed. I had the steak tip and it was honestly one of the best steak I've had as far as breakfast goes. The meat was very tender and juicy and the caramelized onion added a nice touch to it. The service was pretty fast as well. I was promptly seated (maybe due to the fact I came here at 1PM, way past peak breakfast/brunch hours) and my food was served pretty quickly. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal. This restaurant is also within walking distance to Boston Common, so a great way to walk off all the calories after your meal.
The team knows how to handle a crowd. Very pleased with the service we received, the Lox crepe and Moroccan mint tea were fantastic. Give this place a visit, the breakfast will start your day in Boston right! Thank you Cafe Bonjour team!
We had breakfast at Cafe Bonjour, and the food was really good. We ordered the strawberry & Nutella crêpe, which was actually amazing--sweet, well-balanced, and very satisfying. I ordered the eggs Benedict, which came with a small side of potatoes, and honestly those potatoes were a standout. They had this incredible chorizo flavor that made them super tasty and memorable. They also came with a dipping sauce (not sure exactly what it was), but wow--it was delicious . For coffee, we got the Bonjour latte (hot). It was smooth, well-made, and not overly sweet at all, which we really appreciated. The only downside is the space itself--it's small and a bit cramped, with tables very close together, almost shoulder to shoulder. That was the one thing we didn't really love. Other than that, the food and drinks were excellent, and we'll definitely be back for more delicious breakfast. Highly recommend if you don't mind a cozy, tight space.
Some of this was great and some of this experience was extremely disappointing. The space is narrow and tight so be prepared to have people in your space. We sat at the counter directly across from the grill which leads me to my next part...... If you are a vegetarian do not eat anything that is grilled. The cross contamination here is out of control. I ordered a vegetarian omelette but the cook touched everything with the same utensils and gloves over and over and over again. It was disappointing. The women working eggs grabbed several pieces of meat and eggs with the same tongs too. So gross. The potatoes here were fantastic so that was one of the saving graces. I mean some of the best I have had in recent memory. I also really enjoyed whatever brand of bread they use. I had multi grain and it was toasted and chewy. The side salad was appreciated as some healthy greens to start the day. The service was terrible. The server never checked on us throughout the whole meal and nobody ever offered a refill on the coffee. He only came by to drop off the check. I would not come back here again although I can see why it is popular.
This cramped hella busy cafe is worth the wait! We happily sat at the counter and watched the staff prepare food nonstop. Service was brisk but friendly and the food was excellent. I had the french toast and my husband had the steak tips and eggs. When you go plan for a wait and be hungry!
Got the Nutella French toast at Cafe Bonjour and it definitely lived up to the hype. Thick-cut bread, perfectly soft inside with a slight crisp on the edges, and loaded with Nutella without being overly messy. The strawberries and banana balanced it out so it didn't feel too heavy. Portion size was solid--borderline dessert-for-breakfast, but in a good way. Coffee was decent, nothing crazy. Place is small and gets packed, so expect a wait. Overall: great spot if you want something sweet and indulgent for brunch.
Cafe Bonjour is a delight. Just a quick jaunt off of Boston Common, this cozy historic building is filled with beautiful architectural details and the warmth of welcoming staff and comforting fare. The wood-lined walls were topped with fascinating moldings and the space was filled with as many cafe tables as it could hold. We went for brunch on a Saturday morning so it was quite busy (a testament to the good food and experience). But the staff could not have been more open and friendly, clearly wanting to make sure each person had a good experience. I can't emphasize this enough. Our brunch was great from the hot chocolate to our meals. The menu has a great deal to offer to every diner. And we loved ours. The service was quick and even though there was a line of people waiting, it went just as fast as they promised. A small post note, the bathroom is as cute and roomy as could be.
This place was worth the wait (30 min on Saturday at noon). It's cramped and we sat at the counter, and the food was amazing. The bonjour sauce that goes on the eggs is excellent, and watching them make the food was a little bonus people at the tables miss out on. Fresh squeezed OJ is worth it too. Our server was on top of it, and although it's a little pricey, you won't be sad. It's a fun restaurant with great decor too.

Large crowd outside at 10:30am on a Sunday. Our wait for a table lasted about half an hour. Cafe was a bit cramped however service was fast and food was tasty and well-portioned. Would recommend coming early to beat the crowds if possible. read more
Very crowded on weekends for brunch but we were lucky enough to be seated relatively quickly. The Signature Scramble Sandwich was pretty good and the Lox Crepe was okay (a little too much spread/cream cheese relative to the amount of smoked salmon) Quick, friendly service. This is a very narrow restaurant. They do a great job on moving people in and out quickly. Don't expect a lot of elbow room. They certainly make good use of the space available. Food was excellent. This was the first time I ate here after 30 years of being in Boston. Usually go across the street to Café 26 which is also excellent but no waiting. The menu is unique to say the least. This is definitely a plus for this location. Prices are reasonable for Boston. Would've been nice to get a 2nd cup of coffee, but seemed to possible. read more

This place is always popular. Every time I came nearby during weekend brunch/lunch time frame, there's line outside. But surprisingly when I went, I thought the wait would be long. But they told me it's about 15 min wait even though it's 20 min wait in total. Inside it is crowded though. The tables are small and the tables are close to each other. It's quite loud inside so it's hard to have a good conversation. Got the Bonjour Classic Crepe with strawberry and banana. It's good. They are generous about the Nutella. The hosts are nice. The waiter is ok. What I don't like is that the waiter kept waiting at our table for us to process the payment and enter the tips. I felt pressured. read more

Cute, super cozy brunch spot- like- cozy cozy lol. The food was delicious! Out of the items ordered, the scramble sandwich and stuffed French toast were 10/10. The coffee was also good and the service was excellent, all of our food came out quickly. Also- super random part of a review- the bathrooms were super clean and smelled really good. In a lot of these small and older buildings, the restroom situation can be sketchy, but these were 10 out of 10 level restrooms lol read more
Came here for Saturday brunch and waited about 20 minutes for a table. Given the wait, I was expecting something special, but I didn't really get the hype. A friend had recommended it, so I was looking forward to it, but it ended up being pretty underwhelming. The air inside was a little smoky and not super clear- my dining partner actually felt a bit nauseous by the end of the meal and only felt better after getting some fresh air. I ordered the Nutella-stuffed French toast with banana, strawberry, and blueberry. It was fine but nothing memorable- just basic and not particularly flavorful. The hot chocolate tasted like instant Swiss Miss. The person I was dining with got a dish with home fries. He found them too oily and greasy, but I actually liked them. He also got a sandwich and thought the bread was disappointing- it looked like a baguette but didn't have the crispness or flavor of one, and I agreed. The service was fine- efficient but not particularly warm or friendly. They took our order, dropped off the food, and that was about it. One plus: they were good about refilling water. Overall, the meal was underwhelming. With the long wait and the so-so food, I wouldn't come back or recommend it. read more

For our second morning in Boston, we were looking for a breakfast stop close to our Hyatt Regency hotel before heading out on The Freedom Trail. We walked right in and got a seat soon after they opened on a Monday, which was great! The table near the door was very small, and a little wobbly. Our server set down water as my wife was reaching to her side to pick something up, and unfortunately her elbow hit her plastic glass as she straightened up. Food arrived quickly and was tasty - she has a lighter Blueberry Bowl after many days of heavy vacation food, I enjoyed their Signature Scramble sandwich - and I especially liked their refreshing Glow Smoothie. However, our server didn't check in on us once after we received it, and another staff member took care of payment for our bill; unsure if she was flustered about the earlier spill, about which we were very apologetic, but that she was standing only 10 feet away often during our meal and still didn't stop by was odd. read more

Cafe Bonjour is one of my favorite food stops in Boston. From the food to the service, it was a great way to start my morning. Upon walking in, the scenery of old french quarters is easily noticeable and very cute. The staff were very polite and quick to get my order out. Seating is limited and it is a bit tight in the restaurant. I ordered the strawberry stuffed french toast and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was rich and so creamy, opposite of being like an instant hot chocolate. The french toast was delicious paired with the strawberry syrup, fresh banana slices, blueberries, and strawberries. They have other menu items like omelettes, crepes, shakshuka, and sandwiches, paired with coffee beverages that come with cute foam designs. In conclusion, if you want a nice brunch spot, dessert for breakfast, or a place to relax with a nice cup of coffee, Cafe Bonjour is the place to go. Highly recommend them! read more

Stopped by here on a rainy Thursday morning. Coffee was warm and service attentive. Felt like I was really in a small cafe in Europe. I got the Montecristo Crepe and it was fantastic. Nutella croissant was warm, buttery and flakey. Really a great all around experience. read more

We were lucky to get in early on. Rainy and cold Sunday morning. Everything met our expectations- 1. Cafe bonjour French toast- sweet strawberries, bananas and whipped cream toppled on perfectly cooked French toast. Best we've ever had! 2. Avocado (toast) tartine - thick layer of avocado with poached eggs and plenty of arugula with tomatoes. I would get this again and again 3. Nutella croissant- so much Nutella, you won't be left with more croissant and not enough chocolate hazelnut goodness 4. Almond croissant this was really good, but next to the Nutella croissant, it was second place. 5. Steak and eggs perfectly cooked, had it with poached eggs. We got three croissants to go, plus a cafe bonjour latte - get it! And a mocha latte, you may want to add a packet of sugar if you like sweet on this one. read more
The staff here was amazing. So nice and so sweet with my toddler. We came here early morning for breakfast and it was not too busy but people trickled in while we were there. The coffee was good and the breakfast signature scramble sandwich was amazing! Huge portion and so delicious. Lots of eggs and avocado. I wanted to go there the next day but got delayed in the morning and couldn't make it. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Boston! read more

Came to this brunch place on a whim after spending the weekend in Boston and I'm so glad I did! As soon as we saw the menu, we were immediately captivated by the Signature Blueberry Bowl and, after trying it, we were not disappointed! This dish had the perfect blend of fruity, crunchy and sweet, and was a healthy alternative to traditional brunch dishes. I loved being able to enjoy a delicious and healthy dish without sacrificing its flavors! I can't wait to come back to eat this blueberry bowl again!! read more
This place is a small cute cafe in downtown. It didn't have a line when I got there around 11 but we did see people waiting when we left around 12:15 ish. The place is pretty tight especially if there were a lot of people and they have 2 clean bathroom stalls. The waiters were very attentive making sure to always check on us and giving us suggestions for when we needed anything. They were a little quiet though so sometimes it's was hard to hear what they were saying. The food was good, they had a variety of normal breakfast foods as well as sandwich versions. They also had a different drinks to try including cocktails and smoothies. The food was a good size to finish all in one sitting without leftovers. The signature scramble sandwich was in a more baguette form than sandwich, I did wish it had more bacon and their Bonjour sauce though had to add ketchup and hot sauce to get more flavor into it. The Bonjour omelet was nearly perfect and was filling in a good way. The moroccan lemonade did just take like regular lemonade, did wish there was a mint taste but there was nothing special about it. Most of the prices ranged from $13 to $17 with coffees and teas around $3 to $6. Definitely would recommend for a brunch place with the girls! read more

The salmon lox bagel was delicious! I would definitely come back for the sandwich. My group also shared the strawberry crepe which was a great sweet touch. The Moroccan mint lemonade was refreshing but definitely on the more sour side. There was a queue that took longer than expected, but the meal was well worth it. read more

Did not get pictures of the food but it was so good! My friend lived down the street and said this was her favorite brunch place when she lived in Boston. The chai tea latte was amazing and perfect for a cold day. The service was great as well - our servers were so quick with everything. Overall a casual spot but such great vibes and food. My Bf and I ate at Cafe Bonjour during a weekend trip to Boston. It was very close to our hotel and had good reviews so we decided to check it out. We went on a Sunday around 11am expecting it to be busy and were not wrong. There was a mass of people waiting outside the restaurant. There is no indoor waiting area, so the host stand and waiting area is on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. They have heat lamps and a couple benches which are nice. We were quoted a 30 min wait and it ended up being exactly 30 mins to the minute. The inside of the restaurant is very cozy. It's not very large so the tables are small and close together, but it works for the Parisian aesthetic. Unfortunately we were seated at probably the worst table - down the back corridor toward the bathroom. We had the coat rack behind us and waiters constantly walking back and forth from the kitchen. We tried to make the best of it though, one upside was it was quieter than the main restaurant so we could at least have a conversation. The food was good. My Bf got the Eggs Norwegian and I got the Croque Monsieur Baguette. The portions were a good size. You won't leave hungry. The eggs came on top of my baguette but I ended up putting them inside and eating the whole thing as a sandwich. The service is prompt as I imagine turnover is important for a place this size. While they weren't overly friendly, the servers did a good job making sure we had what we needed. In summary, I would recommend coming here on a weekday when it's less busy, but for us it was worth the wait. read more

Although there is always a line today we only waited 15 minutes. Service is quick and great. The power smoothie was delicious, although the color was green it tasted more like a tropical vacation than a green juice. The steak was tender and marinated in a savory sauce. I do wish they added more caramelized onions, my plate barely had any. The potatoes came out nice and hot and seasoned wonderfully. I love the sauce that comes with the fries. Space inside can feel a little crammed, I would keep that in mind if you are coming with a stroller. read more

I woke up late but still wanted breakfast; I found Cafe Bonjour not far from my hotel and decided to pop in. Upon arriving, the place was completely packed, but the host was able to quickly seat me at the bar. After ordering, my food came out within a very reasonable amount of time. As for the food itself, it was delicious! My only complaint is that it was unnecessarily rich. For example, I felt that the cheese was an unnecessary addition. The sauce, while flavorful, was too abundant and distracted from the taste of the scrambled eggs and caramelized onions. Overall, Cafe Bonjour serves good food, but I would recommend hitting up the gym afterwards. read more

No. FCFS only. Get there early. It's very tight location and 6 is doable but tricky. Outside seating available on the nicer days.
Do they have a kids menu?
Unfortunately I don't recall either way but they were super friendly and flexible so I'd bet you could get some kid friendly options even if there isn't a specific kid menu...
Are all the items served halal?
Moroccan owners. I would assume everything is Halal.
Is it possible to make reservations?
No. Sign in at the door. The line may look long but it moves very fast.
Is it hard to get a table for two?
If they are on a wait, you usually only wait a few minutes. Service and food are fast, they turn tables very quickly.
Does Cafe Bonjour take reservations? We will be there for Mother's Day and have a tight window of time.
