This place is epically awesome not to mention totally delicious and a unique experience, it's what I love about Little Rock. You can literally pick which cuisine you want any given night, German, Brazilian, Chinese, Japanese etc, it's not just throw together. It's a fully authentic experience from the cheese rolls to the yucca root app that tastes just like potatoes. You also can't go wrong with the caipirinha drink which they have a variety of flavors. Also get some Acai juice to go, super food! First time we had the gluten free cheese bread, yucca root, chicken with rice and beans, and also the salmon cakes. I wish I would have been smart enough to take a picture of my food before I devoured it. I'm from California visiting (Costa Mesa/Newport to be exact) and we have excellent food where I am and I wish we had this place. I got the Redeemer Bowl and added chicken and my husband got the chicken crepes. We also got the cheese bread balls, and the chicken croquet tear drop things that were absolutely DELICIOUS!!! The food was so good that we went for lunch the very next day. I got the chicken tacos and my husband got the chicken stroganoff dish which was also very DELICIOUS. We leave on Saturday and I'd like to make another trip back before we go if possible. Do yourself a favor and GO!!! read more

Yum! Brunch! Came in here this past weekend because I wanted to take my wife out for a nice late breakfast. We found out from a friend that they have Sunday Brunch from 10:30am to 2pm, which is a nice, wide, sleep-in-friendly window. We'd also been told that the french toast (Brazilian-style french toast, that is) was to die for - thick slices of bread, battered in butter and brown sugar, soaked in egg overnight to get that perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture! ...Needless to say, we had to try it. And it was exactly as advertised. Not only is it everything we were told, but it's the first time I've ever had French Toast on a baguette-style bread, so the bread itself was very tender and did indeed melt in my mouth, but at the same time the thin crust was almost bowl-like and allowed me to even pick up the toast as I messily devoured it. Speaking of the toast, don't use syrup on it. The flavor of the toast is wonderful and unique - the syrup was syrup, nothing snazzy. The same goes for the eggs that come with it. I had mine scrambled, and they were good, but they were just eggs. Or were they? Be sure to ask for some salsa/hot sauce. We got some of the typical stuff in a bottle, but then they have some hot chile-infused olive oil that comes in a little white genie-lantern looking thing. And that stuff is awesome! Just be careful, a little bit (really little bit) goes a long way! But that sauce spiced up my eggs to well beyond ordinary, and set off the rest of the meal nicely. My wife got the vegetable frittata (omelette, on this menu), and it was *delicious.* Had I not been looking forward to the french toast so much, I would have been very jealous. The spice infused oil was also spectacular on that. It may have been because I was enjoying myself so much, but I actually thought their regular house coffee was possibly the best I've had in town! We will be back, and probably soon, because we skipped the mimosas. Honestly, who goes to brunch and doesn't get a mimosa? read more

Food was very very and i mean VERY superb. Very different. Very prestine. These people in here know what they're doing. I started off with the crepes De Frango. Now I'm not a huge fan of salad intertwining with my hot meal right next to it. But somehow this works. The crepes were creamy, hearty and fresh. The rice was magnificently steamed. I usually have a problem with restaurants not cooking my rice right..(either undercooked or mushy) but these guys got it right ! The salad was very different ! I was amazed of the flavor profile given with the dressing and the toasted peanuts giving a nice balance of texture and added crunch, finished off with the fruity, juicy mandarin oranges. Very unexpected! My only complaint would be the pao de queijo...idk it might just be bread to help fill the belly. The description made it sound better than what it was. But mmm it was a decent nibble. Overall this place is amazing! And full of flavor. Good job your, doing great. read more

I am sitting at a restaurant with good reviews, and people are audibly praising the food. I have sent back the Buddha bowl which I was immediately informed was a best seller, it had zero flavor. One paper this dish on paper should work, and yet, just tastes like peppered and over cooked nothing. I then just got the rice and beans which I was also informed was great and a bestseller. Again, Zero flavor. Seriously, if a Brazilian restaurant can't get rice and beans right, I have no confidence that anything else can be good here. As for the bread, I love cassava flower rolls, but these had a slightly metallic flavor and should NOT be $4 for four rolls! Are you kidding me? Little Rock, you are better than this. Very friendly staff! :) However the portions were way too small for the hefty price. I ordered the redeemer bowl and cheese puffs. The bowl ($19!!) is yummy but again portion size was so small I had to go home to eat a second dinner. The desserts are delicious!! Bread pudding is not too sweet but still decadent. read more

Owners were surprisingly rude and offensive. Would not recommend! I have been to bossa nova two or three previous times, and was treated by the waiters and waitresses with respect. One night my wife and I decided to go to Bossanova for dinner and ordered a bowl with salmon. When we received our entrées, and began eating the salmon we noticed it was raw inside. My wife and I calmly addressed the issue with the manager, and the head chef. They became very defensive, and the head chef became aggressive, kind of standing over me at my table in an intimidating manner, demanding that he is not going to give us a fresh piece of salmon after they took our under cooked salmon in the kitchen and threw it back on the grill and just served it back to us. Obviously, this is cross-contamination and unprofessional business practice. All we were asking was for was a fresh piece of salmon. My wife and I decided not to eat the entrées and asked for our money back and they told us they will not refunding our money or discounting our meal. So we calmly left trying not to make a scene. read more

I love the frango sandwich (~$11) and chicken crepes (~$15) from here! Sandwiches are served with either salad or fruit. Choose the salad. I've never been here for dinner since they don't serve the frango sandwich (chicken with mango and papaya chutney and some other ingredients) for dinner. :( Don't order the bolos de salmao (salmon cakes). It was meh. The sandwiches are slightly expensive, but I don't go here often so it works out. read more

I've worked in Little Rock a few times over the last 4 years and I always look forward to going back to Cafe Bossa Nova. The black beans and rice are really tasty and the cheese bread is also great. Being from Brazil, I can say that the food is pretty authentic. I do think the prices are slightly higher than I'd expect but since their food is very unique for this area, I don't mind paying. The service has been really good every time I've been there and I have nothing to complain about. read more

We got there around 1:15 and they still had their lunch special which was Shepherds Pie. It was very good.i It was served with a kale salad with a flavor packed lemon vinegarette The fresh warm gooey cheesy rolls they serve are worth the trip. I found my new favorite restaurant today. My daughter and I went to lunch at Cafe Bossa Nova. What a find! It was such a charming establishment with soft music, and wonderful views of the leafy street. We were greeted by the kindest woman (whom we later learned was the owner's wife). She immediately made us feel welcome, and answered all of our questions. My daughter ordered the Crepes de Frango, and I got the Moqueca de Peixi. when my daughter took a bite of her meal, her eyes got huge, and she told me I had to try it. Oh my. It was a perfectly cooked piece of chicken in a crepe with cheese sauce, over rice. Delicious! Then I tried my Moqueca. Oh.my.word. Fish and shrimp in a coconut milk sauce with veggies, over rice. It tasted like the offspring of a really good paella with curry...only better. I sincerely mean it when I say this was the best meal I've had in 10 years. And when we left, we left as family. Pap de pão de queijo was amazing, dough was very light and had a great flavor, hands down beats any restaurant pão de queijo I have had. Fortunately, Bossa Nova is there to satisfy your (mostly) clean-eating urges with an added dash of delightful flavor. On my visits, this quest usually manifests itself in the form of the carne desfiada, which serves up heaps of pulled brisket atop a mound of fresh veggies - all of which is tied together perfectly by the unique sweet onion dressing used sparingly on the dish. When I'm less concerned with health than with indulging my inner foodie, I come for brunch and get the eggs benedict, served on a house-made brioche bun with smoked salmon. In either case, the service is reliably terrific, the food is always delicious and the view of Little Rock's trendy Hillcrest neighborhood is beyond compare. I am a very picky eater so when I can say that I enjoyed every single thing I ate, I mean it. I have the chicken crepes (can't remember the real name) and it was 10/10. The presentation looked just like the pictures and it tasted even better. The cheesy/ creamy sauce it's served with is so delicious. It comes with the mista salad which was 11/10. I'm simple and usually only like ranch and Caesar dressing but this dressing was very unique and also 11/10. It's sweet but not too sweet and pairs well with the nuts and mandarin on the salad. I also had the cheesy balls (again I don't remember the official name) for appetizers. These were good, 7.5/10. This is only because they were slightly at room temp when they were brought out. The flavor of these honestly is not anything unique but it is still tasty. Overall, this place is 9.8/10 for me. Staff is friendly and fast. I can't wait to go back!! read more

I ordered breakfast through Bite Squad on a Saturday. Coffee wasn't available on the Bite Squad menu so I called them up and they included it free of charge. It's so hard for me to find coffee that I really like and it was fantastic black coffee. I got waffles, bacon, sausage, and a rabanada, a stick of cinnamon french toast. The rabanada was so good with the coffee. Waffles were not so good. Bacon was huge, delicious, quality bacon. Sausage was that really crispy patty kind. It was ready super fast and I usually have no issues with Bite Squad. Bossa Nova has been around forever and now I can see why. read more

We've been for dinner, and now we've been for lunch. The overall feeling is that the menu is interesting, but that the whole experience is way overpriced. Service is quick, but both times we ordered items that never came (first cheese bread and second coffee). The food for dinner was okay, we got the soup sampler and some rice and chicken dish but we weren't wowed. We enjoyed our lunch items (Buddha bowl and a chicken sandwich) but again just overpriced. Bottom line - If you're looking for something a little different (but not TOO different) and are willing to pay a bit more, this place isn't bad. Just expect to pay more and maybe have spotty service. read more

Out of lots of choices in Little Rock we chose this and it was not the best choice. Before I begin let me tell you they have the best chocolate layered cake my kids and I loved it so I will say that. Now let me begin as soon as we entered the waitress asked what we wanted to order we had to tell her 3 times to give her more time. No it wasn't busy it was just our first time and most dishes were in portugués. I ordered the soup of the day which was ok not too good, and lukewarm; good soup should never be that temperature. My kids ordered chicken fingers which were not good and rice and beans that had a bad aftertaste. I ordered a creme brûlée and it was way too sweet and chocolatey and not in a good way which was sad, desserts shouldn't make you sad. The prices were too high and the waitress forgot to pick up our check I had to go and take it to her. She was nice but you can tell she was new. Would only go back for that triple layer chocolate cake. read more

Cafe Bossa Nova, you are by far on my top three list of places I've been to this year. You may even be number one. I had to have a tasty meal on my trip to Little Rock and thanks to Yelp, I saw this place as a huge recommendation. After a rainy awful day, and almost calling it a night and ordering room service, my friend and I decided to go here. The nearby area (Hillcrest I think) is very cute and we walked around afterwards and it reminded me of home a bit. As for our meal here, we were in awe, everything was better than it sounded on the menu, and better than we could have imagined. We started with the cheesy yuca bread. Yes, warm fluffy little puffs of cheesy goodness. Those were gone within seconds. My friend had the Hearts of Artichoke chicken soup and claimed it was amazing and her favorite part of the meal here. As for our entrees, she ordered the quiche and I got the salmon patties which came with the "mista" salad. I was so pleased with my meal, I was trying to make mental notes of how I could attempt to replicate it later on. I make salmon patties all the time, but these, they were bursting with flavor in each bite. How do they do that? And the SALAD? Holy cow this was ridiculously the best part of my visit to Cafe Bossa Nova. With mandarin orange bits, candied walnuts, and the best citrus vinaigrette I have ever tasted, this salad has to have been the best I've ever had EVER. Next time, I wouldn't be surprised if I ordered a huge Mista salad alone. So yes, our meal was scrumptious and everything was absolutely perfect. I wouldn't complain if the bill had been a bit lower but it wasn't unreasonable for such excellent food (specials were about $15 a plate). The waitress was so friendly and eager to make recommendations. The ambiance is cute, not too fancy, but defiitely a popular place. It says Brazilian but was much more like Fusion, in my humble Miamian opinion. Whatever it is, please make this a definite stop on your to-do list. read more

My cousin had her bridesmaids brunch here which I am so happily part of... Food is really good. I ordered their Panquecas de Frango ($17.25) Brazilian-style chicken crepes, baked in Catupiry cheese sauce served over rice and a mista salad. The mista salad has mixed greens, Mandarin oranges, caramelized slivered almonds, drizzled with their house salad dressing. My meal was beyond filling. It was wonderful tasting, and well put together on the plate! I loved what I saw. We had a great time. Service was top notch. Robin was such a sweetheart, and didn't miss a beat. I think the best part of the experience was that it was not crowded. They were extra attentive to our needs. Who would thought there was such good Brazilian food in Little Rock?
