Poorly managed and not worth going. We waited 45 minutes and then were turned away. We were initially told it would be a 20 minute wait for 2 people on a Sunday, and watched as other people were taken before us. After 45 minutes someone came out and said "we're full." No apology or attempt to seat us soon. Never going back. It was also packed and many staff and customers did not have masks on. I will not give them my business. read more

The tables are dirty when you put the arms there they stick never cleaned. Last time I saw a Mouse coming out of kitchen at the back. Terrible!!! The food tastes good and the stuff ate friendly. read more

Even at 4:30 when I thought I'd beat the crowds, this cozy space was packed! We shimmied into seats that barely fit into, but the food is worth it. Someone came over right away to take our order, but the food took a bit of time to come out. We got WAY too much food, but it was delicious and we finished it all anyway. Mini bureks come in 3 different flavors: cheese, spinach, and meat. My husband had the meat one and we split the other two. These were clearly fresh out of the oven (you wait for freshness) and they were INCREDIBLE. Super flakey, favorable, dreamy. Honestly, this was a lot of food and wood have been enough. Our waiter was very honest and said we ordered a lot....but couldn't help wanting to try the homemade calzones, they had chicken salami! Never even heard of that kind of meat before, was very excited. The crunch of the fried dough, the saltiness of the meat, random bursts of creamy cheese, KETCHUP, and PICKLES....all of the flavors melded together harmoniously. Desserts looked really great, but we were stuffed. The only thing I wasn't super pleased about, our waiter told us they don't serve tap water? We could either buy bottled water or other drinks. What a nice little restaurant. I absolutely love Turkish food and the food here is amazing! the staff here is so nice and warm, they pay attention to the customers and are very friendly. I visit them with my baby (and my big stroller) not knowing the size of the restaurant, once we where there I told my husband it would be better if we leave becase I couldn't see any space that we all can fit with the stroller but a nice man quickly prepare a space for us and the stroller :). The food was great. The place is cozy. Super convenient. I would have given it 5 stars but the shady waitress wouldn't let us move to a four person table when we were one of 3 parties in the entire place, it was practically empty, so I had to get the manager involved and we were immediately offered any table in the house. Rainy day, missing my mom's cooking. Saw this place on Instagram. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The burek was awesome, we ordered cheese and spinach. And we ordered the cevapi which was also amazing. Sooo good. Ordered takeout- we live in Ramsey. Travelled well!! We will be back to dine in when we can. I called on the telephone to see if they were still open at 9 pm on Sunday night. They were, and when I got there with two friends the back outdoor patio was surprisingly lively. We chose one of the three tables in the alley where it was quieter and we could enjoy the food and the warm night. The waiters were all friendly and hepful as I tried my best to speak a little Serbian. We had four of the bureks: mushroom (the best one), spinach, zucchini, and cheese. We shared the large homemade yogurt which was the tastiest I have found in the US. The tea is served in a clever container with a hidden cup which keeps it hot. It might be helpful to feature some non-sweet fruit and/or vegetable drinks but otherwise everything was excellent. The neighborhood, Botany Village, is also unusual with many immigrants and quirky old architecture. read more

DONT GO HERE!! This place is horrible starting with the abusive owner! He harasses his employees and yells at them in front of costumers the whole time . I speak their language too so I can understand everything he is saying to them! DISGUSTING! The burek nothing special. It's like a tunnel inside , EMPTY! But the last time I went there was the final straw. We were 3 adults and a toddler. When I arrived there one of the guys asked me how many so I said: 3 adults and a high chair . He was nice and polite and he was about to sit us. Then the owner comes screams at the poor guy what is he doing there when they need help in the kitchen ( on Serbian ). Then the owner is taking over and asked me again how many . I said the the same thing : 3 adults and i high chair . Then he acted stupid and said: so 3 people ! I said NO! 3 adults and a high chair . This guy of a owner gave me a 2 top, at least he tried ! Can you believe that ???? 4 people on a 2 top??? They had few tables open but he is so greedy so he is trying to save his tables for more costumers ! RIDICULOUS! I said are you serious? How we gonna eat all of us here ? His response was: I don't have other choices! How about you tell me it's a wait so I will wait for my table if I would want that ! Don't make a fool out of me! Definitely I'm never going back there. The burek king next to it has better burek 9373829 times . The owner doesn't deserve your money . Horrible people read more

Great "hole in the wall" spot! From the front entrance, you think this tiny little coffee shop doesn't have much to offer...but trek out back and you're pleasantly surprised at the cozy feel and eclectic ambiance! The food is delightful and the Turkish coffee...well, let's say it's perfection in a cup! best part - they're open pretty late so it's my go-to-spot from now on! read more

So disappointed at this place! Used to be one my favorites around town, until their staff couldn't care less for people who were not from their same race. The owner is very nice. Yesterday, while I walked in three waitresses, passed me by in which none greeted me or asked me if I was been helped. I had to leave, and told the owner it was the last time he will see me there. When you spend your money in a restaurant, the least they can do is welcome you with a nice smile. We keep small businesses at flow. Some people don't know the meaning of true customer service. Make sure it's ok with you to feel ignored. read more

My BF and I were starving since I had to skip breakfast one morning for a doctors visit. As we walked to the car I quickly opened my app to find a place to eat ASAP. Not knowing the area I was pleasantly surprised when I found this breakfast/brunch place. We loved the burek, the omelette, the crepes were amazing! We chose the beef burek and the flavors were spot on! We had coffee and their bottled juices, I don't know the brand but we ordered a couple more to go, we liked them THAT much! For dinners, we had the Abigail's chicken (which I don't know what kind of sauce they put all over it, but it was horrendous), the braised short ribs (there was only one whole rib with the casing still on it and had nothing but fat and grizzle), the stuffed flounder (was too extremely thin slices of flounder stuffed with what was supposed to be crab meat stuffing, but they might as well just call it stuffing because there was no crab or even crab taste), we also ordered a fourth dinner, which I cannot remember what it was, but it was again extremely disappointing. We definitely will not order from here again, whether it be going and eating in or doing takeout.

The restaurant has made the NYT's Top 100 Restaurants in NYC list for the past 4 years, they have expanded to two (soon three) other locations, and is a favorite among the social media and celeb crowd (this is allegedly one of Dua Lipa's favorite restaurants in the city). That being said, we thought it would be a great spot to celebrate a family member's birthday - so I booked a table and off we went. Çka Ka Qëllu is located on Hughes adjacent to the back entrance of the Arthur Ave Retail Market. The restaurant is gorgeous - it's pretty spacious with three main dining rooms. The decor is a showstopper in itself - the exposed stone walls coupled with the abundance of artwork and old world accents placed throughout the dining area make this seem more like a museum than a restaurant. The ethnic music that is piped throughout the restaurant completes the feel. I honestly couldn't stop looking around. There menu is pretty expansive - most of the items I had not heard of before, but it's also approachable as they spell it out for you in the description what each dish is. We were a party of seven, so to make things easy we aligned to share everything. My brother and I decided to take lead and order items from each section. We decided to start with the ajvar, sausage dip, and tarator. These were all delicious; essentially dips, they all had great flavor and were paired with hot crusty bread mmmm. We then got a bunch of other dishes: leçenik, burek, fili, fasule with smoked meat, mantia, mazë e zier, and a shop salad. As with the dips, everything here was delicious. It's hard to pick the standouts because everything was so good - honest food, full of flavor and depth. Okay you twisted my arm - if I had to choose, my favorites were the burek and the mazë e zier. I love a good burek, and this one was top drawer. The pull on the mazë e zier was out of this world, yet it was easy to maneuver with great flavor. We ended the meal with one of their grilled dishes - namely the mixed meat combo. We chose five meats and they paired them with some vegetables and potato. At risk of sounding like a broken record - this was delicious as well. Service was awesome - everyone was welcoming and the food came out at a good pace. Overall, Çka Ka Qëllu is an absolute yes - the food, the decor, and the service were all aces. The hype is real and they deserve all the accolades they have received. Goes without saying, but I would definitely return for another meal - take me back now!

Based on the very high ratings - we decided to give Cafe Bubamara a try. We came in for a quick lunch and were seated quickly. We sat in the inner room which affords a little more privacy - but is not as well serviced by the waiters. I decided to try the Burek (Spinach) and Yogurt. I also asked for ice water and was told it isn't available. You can only get bottled water. Is that even legal in NJ? We also got a Belgian waffle and shared both. The Burek was ok - Having had many Bureks in the past, this one seemed a little too tough on the outside (Nearly broke my tooth). The yogurt was also average - I like the more traditional "Ayran" which is more sour and yogurty. Finally - the Belgian waffle was a good one, very generous and freshly made. Service was spotty - which may be because we were in the back room, so I'd suggest getting a seat in the front room. Overall - seems the hype is way bigger than the actual quality of this place and the "No water" policy is just annoying. The cafe itself is absolutely beautiful.. thoughtfully designed, cozy, and inviting. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the ambiance and food. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like a burden rather than welcomed guests. The place was nearly empty, yet we were told we couldn't sit at a table with four seats because there were only two of us. I would understand if the cafe had been busy, but with plenty of empty large tables, the policy felt unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming. What made it worse was watching a woman with an infant in a stroller being hassled because the stroller was "slightly in the walkway," even though there was more than enough room for people to comfortably pass by. It just felt like the staff were more focused on enforcing arbitrary rules than creating a hospitable environment. The food was actually good, which makes the poor service even more disappointing. Sadly, the way we were treated ruined the experience. Based on the service alone, I won't be returning. read more

The menu at Cafe Bubamara has a variety of traditional Balkan dishes, my favorite being their burek. They also offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and desserts. My favorite items to get from here is their burek, fried dough appetizer, which comes with honey and feta cheese, their savory crepes and their Turkish coffee or Nescafé. The atmosphere at Cafe Bubamara is cozy and inviting. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor seating area is a great place to enjoy a meal on a warm day. They also have space heaters for days when it's cold out. Overall, Cafe Bubamara is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal and a cup of coffee. The food is delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I highly recommend Cafe Bubamara for breakfast or a date night. read more

We been going there for years every single Sunday after church. It was 90 degrees outside and I am pregnant and I have two year old daughter. The waitress takes my temp and tells me it's 95.5. Of course my temp will be high in this weather with no ac sweetheart and being pregnant and not having a zip of water since I woke up in order to take communion . Meanwhile I took my temp when I went to church and it was 98.5. Never ever gonna step a feet again neither my entire family that's been going there!! Oh and we own a restaurant too btw and we know how to stay clean.... we gave them so many chance and the waitresses are always rude. The only polite one is the hound waiter read more

I recently visited this restaurant and was extremely disappointed with the poor service and quality of food. My meal came out late and was cold, and when I brought it to the attention of the manager, he did not take any steps to correct the situation. All he offered was a half-hearted apology before walking away, leaving me feeling frustrated and ignored. To top it off, the total bill was not worth the price, even though the restaurant was cute and had a nice ambiance. I come here regularly now for the bureks; goes great with yogurt to dip in which gives it a slightly sour taste. There is plenty of seating inside and outside but I do not recommend the yard on humid days when you're bound to get bitten by mosquitoes.
