Wandered down the terminal and saw Café con Leche, a local place from Ybor City. Got a regular coffee and it was fantastic! Earth friendly people won't like the styrofoam cups but they serve their coffee HOT so they're needed. If you just drink regular coffee or simple espresso drinks (like a cafe con leche/cafe au lait) you will love this coffee. If you need candy cane unicorn puke organic soy chai frappuccinos with extra whip, you won't like this place! I'll be back EVERY time in TPA flying SW. read more

Cafe Ybor is espresso with condensed milk. I seriously will consume anything with condense milk as an ingredient. This coffee is so yummy. I got it lightly sweeten. The espresso is medium roasted and delicious. Seriously yummy. The best part.... order the freshly fried in front of your face churros. It comes naked and you can dress it with powder sugar and cinnamon. It's super thin and a good potion. As such there are lots of crunchy bits if you are into crunchy bits. Yes, yes I am! Their "Freshly Pressed Cuban" is not pressed at all. I get they're in an airport but you can't say it's "freshly pressed" when it's tossed in the Subway style ovens. I've had bad sandwiches but this one was the worst. Add to that bad service and you get the worst cafe in the Tampa airport if not the entire city. Lesson learned. read more

This place is horrible, and I am seriously not hard to make happy in an airport. Give me warm food in a timely manner with no garbage in it and I'm fine. But I'm so mad I'm typing this in the airport. My egg and cheese sandwich had what I will politely describe as a "hair" grilled to it. I took a picture of it on the back of my boarding pass. It on top of that, the part of the sandwich I could eat was cold in the middle. The cheese wasn't even melted. They also couldn't be bothered to cut it all the way through, but I wouldn't have cared in the slightest if it could have been warm and fur-free. I'd go ask for a new breakfast sandwich but the staff can't handle heating prepackaged food and making coffee without a huge mass of people waiting so I'm not going to bother. Wish that I knew that the bar here made breakfast... everywhere else at TIA airside C has been awful. Get some more staff, get some better breakfast places. Ordered the lunch Cuban sandwich, it was lack luster. Very little mustard, and only 3 pickle rounds. I was expecting more of the Cuban taste. While I understand this is the airport restaurant.... it doesn't compare to sergios in the FLL airport. That place is wonderful. Overall, the taste was OK at best. I won't seek this out when I am in this airport the way I do when I'm the FLL airport. read more

Tired with no sleep at the airport I find my flight to be delayed 2 hours. Afraid to fall asleep in fear I wouldn't wake up, I decided to grab a dbl shot of expresso at this coffee place to stay awake.. I asked the cashier what was this delicious looking pastry I saw behind the display...she told me it was a Gouda cream cheese pastry but I reluctantly said I better not even tho it looked awesome! I went to the other side to wait for my expresso and she came up to me with the pastry in her hand and smiled and said to enjoy it and wake up lol. I was touched by her gesture that I gave the gal that made my expresso a $10 bill even tho there was no tip bucket and told her to split it among themselves.. Was at gate C on thursday March 12th and got pretty excited about having an authentic cuban at Cafe Con Leche. Nothing authentic about it. The service was great and the young lady was very nice and friendly. But the Cuban was heated to point I could not eat it for the longest time. There was mediocre quality meat stuffed into not very fresh bread. But the kicker was 1 pickle about the size of a quarter on each half!!! There should be pickle in each bite...it is the pickle and yellow mustard that supply's the tangy offset to the meat and bread. So I got a screaming hot processed meat sandwich with some yellow mustard and 2 pickles. All for 11.99 plus a drink, and tax equals $16+. Will not go back. read more

I walk up 10 minutes before the place closes and I cannot get a warm sandwich because she already turned off the oven. Staff was good and did a great job of moving the line along, which should be the #1 priority of any airport restaurant, especially when they serve coffee in the morning. The coffee was excellent, I had the cafe Ybor which was perfect to make me miss home even more as I prepared for departure. Just a warning, they serve the cafe con leche "american style" (the worker's words) without sugar. My two disappointments were that they did not have any Cuban sandwiches ready to go in the morning, and that they didn't have the breakfast sandwiches described on the board. So the Cuban breakfast sandwich that I expected on Cuban Bread was actually on medianoche bread. It was good though. I'd go back though. read more

So there I was just before 6am Sunday waiting in a long line that took over 10 minutes to get to the register (For high priced airport refreshment). Based on the family reputation and awesome Churros at the Columbia restaurant I was really happy to see them on their signboard. Also I saw Cafe Con Leche and a Signature drink with exactly the same description but one additional ingredient. Oddly the CCL was over $5 but the other with more ingredients was under $5. I asked the cashier and she could not explain except "that's the way they made the sign" I declined the coffee since it was a bit overpriced either way. But ordered the churros! Then the cashier told me those are not available until the afternoon. ??? It did NOT say that on the sign board!I pointed out that I waited in line over 10 minutes because of that. Truly a waste of my time. Poor information, slow service. Largely disappointed. Lesson learned. Lots of other good places get my future business. Ordered a "Café Ybor" which is an espresso with steamed milk and sweet condensed milk. Passing through the airport today, I decided to stop and get a hot pressed Cuban for lunch. As a 40-year Tampa resident, I believe I can speak with authority on what is, and is not, a proper Cuban sandwich. Whatever it is that Cafe Con Leche is peddling, is anything but a Cuban sandwich. Awful. Besides not being properly dressed, served at a piping 242 degrees Fahrenheit, my particular sandwich was made with stale Cuban bread. Love having the Columbia at the airport! This store has most of the selections from other Tampa locations and a nice atmosphere. Did you take out as well which is great if you're hiring for a plane. You can't beat the 1905 salad! They serve breakfast too!! read more

Ordered an Italian sandwich. It was premade and came with Swiss cheese. (The menu did not list cheese as an ingredient.) The lettuce was brown and bread was mushy on side. This is one of my favorite places in the Tampa Airport. They have a drink called Cafe Ybor that I love and crave it when I know I will be traveling to or thru Tampa. I would gladly give them 5 stars but the service is terrible. They always have young women working that are too busy gossiping with each other to pay any real attention to the customers. No "thank you" or any other common courtesy is offered. But I go back because the "Cafe Ybor" is amazing! Don't expect great service, just good coffee and food. read more

My go to when I take an early flight, I love their egg and cheese on Cuban bread. It's not the best Cuban bread in Tampa, it does get soggy in some parts and hard in others, maybe because they cook the sandwich instead of press it. Coffee is good here. "Hot" sandwich came cold and gross. Who would want cold eggs, yuck. The employee had shutdown the oven early, before closing time, so I couldn't get it reheated either. I guess the coffee was good though. read more

Went to grab a breakfast sandwich for a quick bite before an early flight. It took forever and was cooked very unevenly, the outside was overcooked and tough while the eggs were cold (disturbing, not sure if they're even safe to eat in this state.) My standards for airport food are not very high but I would not get food here if it was the only option in the airport. read more

I am fine with the mediocre food in the airport. What I'm not ok with is the attitude of the employee working at the register.
