Dined in for lunch on 3/13. Pretty unique place and kind of hidden. The owner is a chill guy. I ordered #1 and the pandan green tea. #1 Ham + Pate Banh Mi - 5/5, tasted really fresh. Glad how the Banh Mi breads were toasted on the spot. The Jalapeños were cut too, so it doesn't make it too spicy. The meat tasted delicious. I would order again! Pandan Green tea - 5/5, wow the flavors were amazing! The ice cubes are actually frozen pandan green tea which makes the drink not watered down. You can really taste the pandan! This drink was refreshing! A must try!

This place has been on my list since a really long time - we live fairly close by but the hours never seemed to work for us - until today. Finally got the chance to try Cafe Couleur and I was dying to write a review as soon as I tried their Bánh Mì. I cannot think of a reason why this place doesn't have a lot of reviews - most likely because of the location which is easy to miss. The menu is limited but that's the speciality of this place. They have two types of Bánh Mì: a Meat (a combination of a few different types of meat) and a Vegan (Jackfruit) Bánh Mì and about 5-6 different types of drinks. We tried both flavors - both ridiculously good but husband and I agreed that the Jackfruit lives up to he hype and was a clear winner. Nothing is pre-made and the owner, Pete - who is so friendly, makes them as you order. Everything was super fresh and he was generous with the ingredients. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee here is fantastic - it has a nice touch of orange peel and the ice cubes are actually made out of frozen coffee and not plain water. The interior is so cool and eclectic. The tables are made out of old sewing machines and the chair fabric is made of various pieces of jeans. We asked where he got the chairs from and he said everything in the cafe is designed by him and his wife! I was so fascinated by all the work they put into this cafe and the quality of the food they are serving to their customers. If you want to have a really nice meal, I highly recommend you stop by when visiting Old city.

Amazing lunch spot in Old City Philly! It's not a huge menu but the sandwiches and drinks are made with so much care. The owner, Pete, is very nice; some might have noted he is a little eccentric and there are some cultural differences at play, but it's always a pleasure to chat with him when I visit. Not to mention... the decor is absolutely on point!

Thick cuts of meat. Bread is thin and light. Really friendly service. I can appreciate the simple, limited menu. Homey interior. Not sure if I would price this at $11 though given the smaller serving size and quaint setting. The Green Ice Tea is a standout though! I'm a huge pandan fan, so I ordered it out of curiosity and wasn't disappointed.

My Jackfruit sandwich

Simply AMAZING sandwiches here! I had the Jackfruit. The best I ever had. Also great ice coffee, all prepared with care by proprietor Pete. Worth going out of your way!

Vietnamese Iced coffee and Banh Mi

Wanted to try something new and saw the glowing reviews on this place and it did not disappoint. Very fresh ingredients and the Vietnamese coffee with coffee ice cubes was delicious. It was surprisingly quiet in here but I suspect that this place will get busier soon! Definitely plan to come back!

A breath of fresh air! Unassuming but overflowing with character, calm energy, delicious bites and super cool service. If you happen upon cafe Couleur I highly recommend stopping and pausing. a quick lunch stop on our way to see the liberty bell turned into one of our highlights of Philly! The owner is friendly and personable, from the moment you step inside the cafe you can tell that a lot of intention went into the space. From the recycled aspects of the decor, to the delicately chopped veg in the Banh mi, cafe couleur is a refreshing reprieve from any of the pop-in stops you'd expect to encounter in touristy down.

Probably the best food I ate while visiting Philadelphia. We got the vegan Bahn mi. It came with the usual sliced cucumber, jalapeños, cilantro, carrots and daikon..and kimchi! the sour burst balanced out the braised young jackfruit that had a delicious taste of lemongrass! Mmm so full of flavor! The bread was light, crispy, and chewy..I have to admit that this was probably the best bahn mi I've ever had AND i tried many in westminster & garden grove!! You have to give this cute lil spot a try! Unique menu and drinks too! I got the green tea (sencha green tea, honey, and pandan!!!) The owner was nice, the food and drinks delicious and prices were reasonable!!

Fantastic Bahn Mi! Thanks Pete!

It's worth going a little out of your way to find this place. It's a wonderful, funky little spot that serves up a fantastic Bahn Mi sandwich. The bread is light with a crisp crust, and it's loaded with tasty pork and fresh, crunchy veggies. Great value for really good food. The owner is a really nice guy too! Enjoy!

Wow, just wow! A few weeks later, and I'm still thinking about my bahn mi. I was visiting Philadelphia and was walking around Old City when I saw this tiny spot next to a fire station. Cafe Couleur is tiny but mighty. Only offering 2 types of bahn mi (with meat or without), a few smoothies, and teas. I opted for the bahn mi with meat, and a mango pineapple smoothie. Only one person was working, and he was so nice, and apologized for the time he was taking to make the smoothie and sandwich, but it was truly no bother at all, it was just nice to get out of the heat. I took my meal to go and it was so hot out that I probably drink the entire smoothie on my five minute walk to my hotel. Once I got to my room, I tore into the sandwich, and I couldn't believe how good it was! Genuinely one of the best bahn miI have ever had. The pate that they add to the sandwich just elevated it to an entire new level, and made it so savory and flavorsome. I will definitely keep Cafe Couleur in mind the next time I'm in town!

The super cozy jooth (one of many)

My coworker recommended this place and I'm so glad that she did! The banh mi was the most flavorful banh mi I may have ever had. The vegetables were full of distinct delicious flavor, more so than the usual pickled veggies included, they really stuck out. The sandwich as a whole had so many flavors working together. This place is a one man show it's seems and he couldn't have been nicer. The multiple payment options are awesome (cash, card, Venmo) and that he informs you of the options is even better. The inside of this shop is so fun and feels like you've walked into someone's studio full of a hodge podge of projects - my favorite being the jooths aka Jean booths. We didn't wait long or at least it didn't feel like it since there was plenty to take in. The Vietnamese iced coffee I ordered was a bust but I'm wondering if it was just an off day. I will absolutely be back and might even have to try the vegan option because if it's anywhere near as flavorful as the regular, I imagine it's divine.

Drip coffee only. No espresso available here. Staff was friendly, but shoving food in his mouth as he spoke with us.

Meat Banh Mi is amazing

Cute little cafe in Old City, great coffee, cozy feel. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee is great, made blended with orange peel for a citrus note.

I ordered a green iced tea which was delicious, and then sat and worked. Wi-fi is solid here, and the outlets are plentiful. I especially like having seats with backs and sizable tables at the right height... when you're working from cafes the small details make a difference. Even though the espresso machine was down, the staff were still friendly and pretty calm about the whole ordeal (although some customers were not). Appreciate a friend face, a quiet space to work, and a nice vibe to relax in for the day. Will stop by again when I'm in Old City!

Cute little eatery with a few tables inside. They offer some baked goods and delicious coffee…read more I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk -- it was really good, but I didn't realize how small the size was and was surprised by the additional $1.25 charge for what seemed like just a few splashes of oat milk. The sandwiches were tasty, although the bread was a bit too crispy. I usually love crispy bread, but this was very, very crispy and slightly overdone for my preference. The biggest disappointment was the egg -- it had that pre-made/frozen egg texture and appearance, which I didn't expect from this type of establishment. Overall, I'd still return for the coffee and the cute atmosphere.
