First time here. Made a reservation but this Sunday evening it wasn't too busy so probably didn't need it. Husband and I shared beet salad & pizza that had pepperoni, fresh ricotta dollops, mozzarella & Mike's hot honey. Salad was fresh and fine- nothing to get too excited about. Pizza came out quickly. If you like very thin crusts you'll like this one. Pizza was good but we didn't taste any heat from the honey- not sure why. Not sure if they have a liquor license but we only had sodas. Ordered thru Toast as was the only option I saw. Did not receive full order. I contacted Toast and they said the restaurant could reimburse me. The manager I spoke to at cafe Crevier said she knew the driver left before she had the full order and Toast needed to "learn a lesson "and she wasn't reimbursing me. She claim she couldn't but Toast said she could and the directions are even online if she didn't want to call Toast. Toast got paid, the restaurant got their money and I lost out on $30 between the delivery charge and tip and food I didn't receive. I love the vibe - the decor has a point of view, the music is relaxed - but our entrees were mostly misses, on flavor and temperature. My mother's breakfast burrito seemed completely unseasoned: I didn't taste the eggs, I barely got the bacon (1), the black beans were flat. And the hash on the side was oddly cold, like it came from another diner's order. My tuna melt looked great and tasted like tuna, but the tomato slices on top were perplexingly cold, and so were my fries. It's definitely a popular place - two large parties of 10+ people came before we arrived and while we were eating - but it's not something to go out of your way for. Stopped in this morning to try out the new local place - Cafe Crevier. We loved what they've done with the place since the former restaurant closed-the seating and decor are welcoming. We were seated immediately and given brunch menus...which were basically breakfast menus. This was disappointing for me as it wasn't what I was hoping for...had I ASKED they did have a lunch menu, but I didn't find out til I was done eating. Anyway, Wifey ordered avocado toast with two eggs sunny side up and I got the breakfast burrito -scrambled eggs, black beans, salsa, bacon, cheddar and it came with breakfast potatoes too. Food was good-Wifey liked hers a bit more than me. Service was a bit slow, but it's better than being rushed. Friends came here for dinner recently and raved about it so we'll be back to try the evening menu. I'll re-review then. read more

We came based on passing by and not the recent review from the Bar Stool guy but learned about it, after the fact. We had a reservation for 6pm and upon entering, this place was a MAD HOUSE. Very overwhelmed staff and chaotic to say the least. We basically had to bus our own table, grabbed our own menus, and condiments. Service: We were "seated" "right away" after mention of the reservation and right after our table was cleaned off - due to the chaos with the staff- another server gave our table away, twice, to walk ins. We finally spoke up and mentioned it and then we had to wait for another table. We finally sat down but after 15 minutes no one came to clean it, give us menus, or water. We had to grab the menus and clean the table our self and get up and ask for water. After we ordered they brought our pizza before our appetizers and we had to ask a bus boy for our appetizers. Waitress forgot our drinks- twice and never checked on us once. We were understanding of the under staff issues and still tipped well but Jeez!!!!! Food: food was great! Pizza was outstanding as well as the Brussels sprouts and salad. Just wish they came out in order and we weren't basically serving ourselves. Pizza took about an hour to come out. I can only base my review on their pizza here, but this is by far my favorite type of pizza and they do it so well. The sauce had a great flavor and sweetness to it. The thinness was superb! My fiance and I door dashed the hot honey pepperoni pizza, a cheesesteak, and an extra side of fries. The total came out to be around $60. The pizza was extremely greasy which usually I can handle but the cheesesteak's bun was soggy, the steak was dry, and it was covered in grease. The French fries had no salt on them, were over cooked, and cold. In all honestly everything we bit tasted the same. Came here for a date night and it was so nice! The ambience is so great, very cozy and so pretty! My fiancé and I started with the calamari and got two pies - one with burrata, caramelized onions, arugula, and prosciutto and a thinny thin with pepperoni and hot honey. Both were SO different but really tasty. The pepperoni was much saucier than we expected - not a negative, just something we noticed. If we come again we're definitely getting the thinny thin plain, that way nothing weighs it down and makes it soggy. Honestly a little expensive for what you're getting. Went for dinner on Saturday night. We ordered from the specials. I was excited about the pesto risotto with scallops because I love pesto and I love risotto. Unfortunately it was terrible. Clumpy and dry. The flavor was awful. For dessert we all had the tiramisu. It was fantastic. The waiter told us they do not make it there. Staff was very nice. Ambiance was perfect. Café Crevier completely blew us away. What looks like a modest neighborhood spot is actually home to some of the best food I've had in a long time. We came in with no expectations and left talking about the meal nonstop. Let me start by saying this: the Thinny Thin pizza is the best pizza I've ever had. It's impossibly thin, perfectly crisp with caramelized edges, and the cheese-to-sauce ratio is flawless. It's light, addictive, and completely unforgettable. I would come back for this pizza alone. The rest of the meal held its own in a big way. The short rib pappardelle was rich and comforting, with melt-in-your-mouth beef over wide ribbons of pasta, finished with whipped ricotta and shaved parmesan. The Cappellini Crevier with shrimp was elegant and perfectly balanced -- not spicy, just light and flavorful, with tender shrimp and delicate pasta in a savory sauce. The mussels en brodo in white wine and garlic sauce were fresh and fragrant, perfect for scooping up with crostini. The clams came in a buttery, garlicky broth that was spot-on -- so good we didn't leave a drop behind. One of the best surprises of the night was the crab cake over salad -- fresh greens lightly dressed and topped with a perfectly crisp, flavorful crab cake. It was clean, refreshing, and so well executed. The hot vinegar chicken was bold and memorable -- crispy chicken with a tangy, spicy kick that stood out from everything else. Even the appetizers impressed: the homemade mozzarella sticks were golden and crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and a clear level above anything you'd get elsewhere. Last night I had placed an order over the phone from Cafe Crevier around 7pm for a thinny thin pie. I figured it was busy since I was on hold for about 5 minutes and it was a Friday night. Anyways the lady over the phone said that it should be about 30 minutes. We walk in 30 minutes later at about 7:30 and give our name for the order, we can see her going through the list and not finding our order. Then I see her write our name and what we ordered on the tablet and then proceed to say "we are very backed up, it should be about another 15 minutes" which i understand mistakes happen if you forget to write in our order on a busy night however, I would have rather her just said that she forgot to put in the order because we were sitting inside for another 35 minutes. Despite that wrench in the timing, I didn't think the "thinny thin" was all that. It was super soggy /floppy until you got to the crust and there was too much cheese and grease. The taste/flavor itself was pretty good however, I can't see how they charge $19 for what looks like a small pie (there's only 1 standard size for the thinny thin) that's as thin as paper. I would say the pizza for me was a 7.2 at best. After seeing photos of Cafe Crevier's delicious-looking thin crust pizza online, I decided to place a takeout at 2 o'clock on a Saturday. I got a "Thinny Thin" pie and sicilian pie, and, after fees and taxes, the total came to $50. When I received the pizza, I was disappointed to find that both pies were beyond well done; they were burnt. I reached out to the pizza middle-man (Slice) who contacted the restaurant. The manager apparently told Slice "we got our pizza oven a week ago and that's how the pizza is supposed to look". After sending Slice photos which were shared with Cafe Crevier (I assume), the restaurant denied a refund and we were stuck with $50 worth of completely burnt pizza. Before throwing it away, my family and I tasted the thin crust and Sicilian to see if it tasted as bad as it looked. The thin crust, as predicted, tasted like it had been in the oven a few minutes too long. The cheese was hard and dried out like a solid piece of rubber, just like a slice of leftover pizza you put in a toaster oven to reheat and then forget about until it has cooled down and hardened. The underside of the pizza was golden and not at all burnt and the edge was toasty and crisp, as advertised. The cheese alone was the issue as if they had broiled it because the bottom was so thin and fragile. The sicilian's crust was black and tasted as burnt as it looked. It was also surprisingly bland towards the center where the crust wasn't charred. Neither the cheese nor the sauce made up for the burn crust. It was a complete disappointment. The pizza was by and large inedible. For the first time in my life, I threw almost two entire pizzas in the garbage and started over with a new order from another restaurant. I understand there may be a learning curve with a new pizza oven, but I do think there is a difference between "well-done"/"crispy" (which I like in a pizza) and burnt. A restaurant who claims to make their pizza "well-done" needs to tread that line carefully or else they'll wind up with a lot of disappointed customers like my family and me. If I'm wrong and this is in fact what Cafe Crevier intended to deliver, I hope future customers will find this review to understand how their pizza "is supposed to look" before they order. read more

Dined in for the first time at Cafe Crevier tonight. So happy to have them as an addition to the growing food scene in Denville. The inside is adorable and comfy. We had an avocado Caprese salad with grilled chicken that was fresh, light and yummy. This place does have good pizza. The customer service is TERRIBLE. They literally steal from you and blame it on a "third party website." DO NOT BUY THEIR PIZZA. It's not worth being stolen from. You will get a twit on the phone and he/she will explain why it's not their fault when you ordered pizza from THEIR website and it never came. We have been to Angeloni's and Brook Tap House and unfortunately this place doesn't compare. Their service was not good at all as well. We started with the Crispy Shrimp and Avocado Caprese. We asked for the sauces on the side for the shrimp and it came with everything on it. Despite this, it was very good. The avocado caprese was salty but overall ok. For entree's we ordered pizza's. Half plain thinny thin, Half a special that had vodka sauce. The sauce was a bit off for both. The kids enjoyed their mac and cheese/grilled cheese. Our server was MIA most of the night and we had to flag her down to get certain items (drinks, refills and utensils). Their prices are a little on the higher side. Very disappointing dinner at this restaurant on Monday, April 6th. Had a reservation and wasn't greeted for at least 5 minutes, and then no hello or apology from the hostess. Took Martin a really long time for the server to come over, and he did apologize, saying he was the only one there for the entire restaurant. He was pleasant, but obviously had a lot on his plate. The food was mediocre at best and was overpriced for what you got. The bread was stale, and they tried to heat it to cover that up. Caesar salad, ok. My main dish was horrible and misrepresented. I got the special, which was Eggplant Milianse. It didn't say it came with a salad, and the salad had onions, which I don't like, and too much dressing. Eggplant was overdone and hard, with a glob of cold burrata on top and some tomatoes. When I told Martin it was really unappealing, not cooked well, and came with items I didn't like, he said he would tell someone, but nobody ever came over to acknowledge it. Then they offered a 10% discount for cash, and we were told an amount, but never saw the bill. we have eaten in at Crevier quite often. All of the entrees I've had are very nice. I always get the fried calamari appetizer made with tempora batter and the beet salad. That usually fills my stomach but does not satisfy my taste buds! we we heard about their sandwiches and pizza I was reticent about ordering for delivery. I'm not a pizza snob but, I'm sorry New Jersey pizza needs a crash course in both crust and toppings. I received a side order of fried calamari and was not disappointed. Then I opened the goat cheese and arugula pizza with fresh tomatoes blew my head. I think it's similar to their thinny thin pizza. All can say is pizza for delivery is only from Crevier from now on. I hadn't been here since it was Mara's, but things have definitely changed A LOT! It's no longer a bakery/cafe, but a total sit down cafe/restaurant. And that's not a bad thing at all. We went for breakfast. My wife was craving a Benedict and we were delighted to find they had three options: classic, short rib or crab cake. She got the Short Rib Benedict and I got the savory crepe, which had eggs, bacon and hollandaise. The food tasted so good. I was especially impressed with the flavor of the short ribs, which had a beautiful charred and earthy, but juicy aspect. It also came with a beautifully poached egg and generous amount of hollandaise on a nice long, crispy multigrain toast. The service was friendly and the ambience was also very inviting.
