Teriyaki with Tofu (specially made for a vegetarian)
Bob S.

Ample parking and quick service in a pretty restaurant. I asked the waiter the difference between the sauce on two beef dishes and he said that "I'd have to try the dishes to know the difference" but he did said he had them both. The waiter was attentive and visited us a few times to be sure that all was OK. The food was cooked to order and I'd say that it was average food (not flavorful) - only one vegetable dish on the menu but the did make a special tofu dish for my friend. No low calorie options. Not impressive.

Plenty of social distancing.

By far one of the best, flavorful Chinese restaurants in Houston. The food is always fresh, the drinks are very nice, and the atmosphere is always nice. The service is always outstanding, they never miss a beat.

Nice quiet atmosphere. Tonight maybe 18 customers here tonight. Me and my girlfriend always reserve a seats at the bar or at the high top tables near it. The food is always fresh. Sunny provided great service.

Spicy Shrimp and Eggplant

Cafe Ginger is so solid I wish it was closer to my house I would prob be there every other week. Had Spicy Shrimp with Eggplant, a red dragon roll, and wife had sesame chicken. Everything was delicious and service excellent. They also have really nice specialty cocktails. I have come for lunch and dinner a dozen times over the years and always leave full and happy. Also the place has great ambiance and feel. Don't let the strip mall fool you. Inside you will sit a table with white table cloths, beautiful sculptures and art all over the wall's. They have a bar and sushi bar area also.

Dinner with friends

Okay place for Sunday night dinner with the family. Make sure to confirm any food restrictions repeatedly. We repeated them more than a couple of times. The hot and sour soup is good. The crispy eggplant with chicken is a bit unusual. The crispy eggplant is topped with minced chicken and minced veggies. By the time it gets to you, guess what? The eggplant is not crispy. Ordered moo shu chicken with extra pancakes. Confirmed no pork and no shellfish several times. When they brought the moo shu, we confirmed that it was moo shu chicken. After my husband took a few bites, guess what? Our server came over and apologized that they accidentally made moo shu pork. Nooooo!! Learned our lesson. If we go back with family, no more moo shu chicken, which is one of our favorites.

I cannot believe, I just started hearing about this place within the last six months! I have shopped next door at the TJ Maxx often and never thought of coming here. This is my regular place to meet up with friends now! I love the service is great here as they seat you right away. They have a cocktail bar and sushi bar. The parking is ok, as they are located in a shopping centre. I love the Lychee Martini, I'm telling you, one glass can get you lit! They have lunch specials weekly and a great variety of options. The appetizer menu is so good and we mostly order from there as the portions are almost like an entree. The ambiance is nice, with white table cloths. I recommend making a reservation if you want booth seating. I really enjoy the drinks and food here!

1. General Tso's Chicken
Lauren M.

First time coming here with a group of coworkers and was very impressed with the decor! So beautiful. We were seated in the back room promptly as we had a reservation. The service was notably great. On top of that I felt like the lunch general tso's portion was large and the chicken was hearty. Some general tso's is mostly breading and I didn't feel this way about this dish here. Dumplings were really good! They had a chili sauce that was so good I wanted to take a big batch of it home. I would absolutely come back!

Really nice atmosphere and great food. I usually stick to the sushi, and it never fails to satisfy me- always fresh and beautifully presented. My friends had the lo mein and loved it as well. The martinis are definitely worth recommending. Perfect spot for a great night out.

Oh my, I found another gem! Cafe Ginger is the real deal on every level! Such a beautiful restaurant. I sat at the bar and immediately had people around me bringing menu, silverware, sauces etc. excellent service from host stand to bartender to servers...all top notch. One thing I loved was the menu. Many Chinese dishes I've never seen at any other restaurant. Yes some of the standards were there but I was excited to go on a new Chinese culinary journey! I ordered the Beijing shredded pork. You have a choice of soup and side. Hot and sour and spring roll for me...both excellent as was the Beijing pork. While waiting for my meal I observed how the ultra professional staff went about taking care of the other guest. Wow...that's how it's done and one would expect a restaurant of this caliber to be expensive but it was very reasonable for what they provided. I can't wait to go back for another 5 Star culinary journey! GREAT JOB!

Finally a chinese japanese spot i can return to over and over! I thoroughly enjoyed the lo mein and wonton soup. It was fresh and just delicious. I am planning my return to try the sushi varieties. The staff is just so flipping great, very attentive, and have great recommendations. The restaurant surprised me when I walked in it looked small feom the outside but expanded when I walked in. I met a long time patron and was ensured all the dishes are all pretty great.

I didn't get to post all of my food but I can say the food was delicious, and freshly made. We got a variety of items from the menu to share amongst our table: general tsu chicken, dumplings, spicy edamame & sushi! The atmosphere is very charming to the cuisine, and the service was great. I will be returning with family next time! Also, The lychee martini paired nicely with the food, definitely recommend going if you want a cozy meal.

Sunny A.

Food quality is good. excellent taste good great flavors good portion very good. Combination of spices mixed together making food good taste in the mouth. Service is excellent inside ambience is great as soon as you walk in the restaurant you know that is going to be a good experience. Enjoy every bit of it. go ahead and try it yourself every food dish. every kind of food deserve everybody's attention.

Can you bring your own wine?

I don't think so, they have a nice variety of wines in the restaurant in different prices. Indeed they have a full bar.

Is there an outdoor area?

No there is not. Restaurant is so beautiful, you would want to sit inside anyway.

Do they have a full bar or just some small drinks?

Don't know. Sorry

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!

Somehow I've never been here before, which is crazy, since like all middle aged white guys, I went deep down a Bourbon hoarding rabbit hole for a time. If you're a bourbon guy, they have some excellent bottles! Like I said, it was a brief visit so I'm not going to write y'all a novel, but the interior was dark lit, velvet soaked, and relaxed. The service was tip top, and spent a good amount of time chatting us up on new bottles they just got in, and what has been popular. We settled on a couple pours and had a great visit. They do check IDs at the door, and it's Ssmall inside with intimate vibes, and plenty of outdoor seating. Great for a date night.. and I really like the furniture and decor. They have an Espresso Martini Drink on TAP and it's VERY GOOD. Service was quick and friendly. I read on their sign that they are doing a Steak Night soon, and I can't wait to see the pricing and how that tastes. Love that it's in my neighborhood, and such a fun place to go to. Stopped in for a drink after work, thankfully not too far away from where I work in downtown…read more A big win for me was that they have designated parking, I had parked but wasn't sure and then saw Dylan, bartender, and I asked him and he said I was fine in the parking lot next to the bar, and that they also had parking across the street on Enid St. For me that's one thing that's important is to have parking. Midtown with their questionable parking makes me not want to go. Upon entering, the place is a nice, intimate setting, with a handful of seating areas along with bar and outside seating. Recommend bringing a light jacket as it was a bit cold. The menu had a variety of offerings, and noted that all drinks are $12. They are card only, so bring your card or tap to pay and also your ID. Because they are 3 feet from a school and are considered a private club, they comply with TABC regulations to ensure safety and efficiency in their business. From the variety of the drinks, I opted for my signature drink, an Old Fashioned, it definitely had a bite to it. I slowly sipped on it while I lounged in one of the seating areas. My sister tried the Starduster Ranch Water, and she didn't like it, I had a sip of it and it tasted like only way I can describe is like soap. Saw that they also have Mocktails and THC Beverages, I didn't try any of them. We headed out as we were trying to grab dinner and Starduster doesn't currently offer food. I did get to speak with Dylan again outside and he clued me in on a couple of things they are planning to do such as having food trucks and also open the upstairs for additional space. Overall, I know being new (had just opened last week) there are many things being worked on and do hope that things improve here and they add additional seating, it got busy for a bit and seating was standing only. Thankfully I was there early enough and got a nice cozy seating area. I removed a star because both my drink and my sister weren't really anything special, it tasted like they were premade and poured from a tap, I missed seeing each one be made. I did like that there aren't TV's inside, it helps maintain the personal interactions natural and focused. Outside they do have TV's which makes sense for bigger groups. Though the seating is limited inside, likely to maintain it as a cozy and intimate space, outside has a lot of seating AND they are PET FRIENDLY! In cold weather without heating lamps, don't think anyone would really sit out there. Once spring and summer arrive, it will be nice. On their menu they indicate "Weekly Specials" Spaghetti Western Sundays Monday Night Steak Night (not sure why it wasn't happening the day I was there, would've enjoyed some steak) Tarot Tuesdays Whiskey Wednesday
