We've been there several times and every time the hostess woman answered us very rudely and treated us with contempt. That's why we started taking out only. But even today when we ordered take out, she was rude and spoiled our mood. Seeing others' comments about this hostess, we realized that she was very incompetent. Great new spot. Staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. They truly care about the customer experience and the quality of their food. Sushi was all extremely fresh and reasonably priced. The people that run this joint are some of the nicest folks you will ever meet. We mostly order takeout and the way they package the sushi is exactly the same way one gets at a nice place in Japan. We are very fortunate to have this lovely place in VA now.....by far the best in the area. read more

The sushi was delicious! Fish was fresh and every dish was prepared beautifully. We ordered the spicy sashimi salad, mango salmon, and a steamed egg dish for apps and then the double tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll with spicy salmon on top. The decor is lovely too. The downside, which may have been an isolated incident, is that we went on a Friday night, had a big table before us, and they were busy so service was slow. Hey, not bad! I guess I had somewhat low expectations, even though I knew this to be a higher end sushi joint. I was pleasantly surprised! Service was sufficient, I think the bad reviews in service could be somewhat due to language barriers. I ordered a salmon/yellowtail don and partner ordered a tuna combo. They really were generous in terms of quality of cuts, as my husband's tuna had upgraded toro and chutoro pieces. The gohan rice was unique, with all the different textures and some charred flavors, though it just felt a tad oily toward the end. The plating was absolutely beautiful. I noticed too we may have gotten some freebies of scallops, squid and sweet shrimp. Thank you, and YUM! My one complaint about our meals was this "finishing" house-made teriyaki sauce that was sauced on top. It was sweet, so it distracted from the taste of the fish, which I as a purist, want to taste. A true Japanese wouldn't do that. But I think I'll ask them to skip that next time and I'll be good to go! Food was good quality but the service is what completely turned me off. We were a party of 4 so when we made reservations at 5:00 it was only 2 of us and the remaining 2 joined us at 5:15. The waitress rushed us to order saying we needed to order fast because there's people using the table after us. Then when we asked the waitress about the menu and to explain the "combo options" there was essentially no explanation and she just short handed her answers. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the cozy atmosphere and EXCELLENT service. We've tried several omakase and course menu restaurants in Alexandria and DC. This place is the perfect place now since it's close by but more importantly, the quality of their ingredients and preparation were exquisite. Fresh wasabi and soy sauce are made by the chef. Each sashimi pieces melt in the mouth as if it were fresh from the ocean. We were introduced to Ellie Kim who prepares the dessert which we tried the pecan tarte - not too sweet, the crust is hard but very flaky. So far, the best pecan tarte I've had. The level of service from the servers to the chef from beginning of our meal to the end was extraordinary. We will be trying the omakase dinner soon. It is definitely a great find. read more

Both were delicious . The scallops from the Carpacio were very fresh. For entrees we ordered Sashimi Combo C. The assortment of fishes were very fresh. We also ordered a variety of cooked rolls; Crab Ile, Lasagna roll, Tysons shrimp tempura roll, Crisp salmon skin roll, and the special mango lime chili roll. All were very flavorful and delicious. Along with the sashimi and rolls, the platters were beautifully and artistically decorated with a touch which of fresh flowers. A few surprises one would not expect to have served with Sashimi and sushi rolls are the lychee poppers and small diced pieces of mangos. This helps clean one's palate so you can savor the food better. Overall, one of the best sushi restaurants in the area. Reasonably priced as well. read more

After waiting for our appetizer over our bottle of sake they gave us not one but two free small plate appetizers due to a small wait that most other restaurants would not even acknowledge. Aside from the service, as a sushi lover, I can honestly say the only places I have had better are Michelin starred. Highly recommend. read more

Best sushi in the DMV hands down. Fish is always fresh and you can tell they take extra care and special attention for each individual ingredient, resulting in delicious rolls and dishes. Obvi their sushi and sashimi is amazing since the fish is so fresh. I think the way the sushi chef expertly cuts the fish is additive. The best place for sushi/sashimi for dinner (and perhaps lunch as well) - try their sashimi wonderful accompanied by a mixed plate of sushi rice.
