What can I say? Bravo to the chef ! Honestly,this is my 5th or 6th time eating here and I hesitated to leave review,because it's difficult to admit that this small overpriced cafe/restaurant hidden in the middle of corporate Buildings,can be excellent. Well,you got my vote and my loyalty. Place itself is not impressive and service is nice,but not superb. So,I thought on 4 stars,but this food... Wasabi - made in the house,soy sauce- made in the house by chef recipes. Soy sauce is home made!!!! Thick ,complex,tangy and not salty,amazing!!!

I am so glad I found this little gem that's tucked away less than 5-minutes from my dentist and ortho office! Now...I'm not sure if I was supposed to wait a certain amount of time before I ate after a cleaning...but I didn't! lol. I was so hungry and was in the mood for sushi. Being a big foodie as I am I love finding new restaurants to try and this was did not disappoint! Parking was easy they had some right in the front of the restaurant reserved for customers as well as a garage for more parking spaces if it got crowded. Walking inside it is a small cozy space and because I was by myself I was seated at the sushi bar. I told the sushi maker my food order and the waitress my order for wine. I tried the Merlot and Pinot noir which the merlot was so luscious I got another glass. So my order was fries shrimp shumai, Ile yellowtail combo which came with a yellow tail sashimi, spicy yellow tail roll I added cream cheese, and yellowtail nigiri. So fresh and so pretty how it came out! Aesthetically pleasing top notch!

Such a cute little place tucked away in Tyson's. The food was great but a little on the pricey side. The double salmon roll was perfectly flavored and creamy with the sauce. And the service was great!

Unassuming Japanese spot very high quality sushi! Have a few appetizers and ramen dishes, but the vast majority of the menu is sush I came here for dinner on a Friday night with my fiance and we each got 2 different rolls and an edmame app. There was a lot of high quality sushi for the price of each, but the serving size of the edmame was very small. New fave sushi spot in the area. Cafe Ile is an unassuming cafe but the sushi is excellent. When you taste how fresh the fish is - you will know right away. We ordered the Chef's Island which has assorted Sashimi, Sushi, Grilled fish, super dragon roll, spicy tuna shrimp tempura roll and it was so good! Our teenage son was with us and helped us with this platter, although he also had a ramen bowl. We really enjoyed the delicious sushi and hope to be back soon! Everything tasted and looked amazing.

TL;DR: 3.8/5: good value and decent flavors; friendly service Came here for a friend's birthday lunch and came around 1PM on a Saturday. The space is on the smaller size. There were several tables, and it was overall very nice and quiet. Interior is cute, but I think their original concept was supposed to include a coffee shop section, which seems like it has closed (?). There was only 1 server, and he was very nice, friendly, and attentive. Even though he was handling all the tables and running food on his own, he was quite attentive and quick. FOOD: ~Complimentary edamame and seaweed salad: can't mess it up ~Complimentary soup: It was like the Korean corn cream soup that I ate a lot when I was sick. A little too watered down for me ~Sashimi Combo C (4/5): comes with a variety of fish, some premium like chu-toro, ama ebi, and scallop. It seems like the fish was already lightly dressed with soy sauce. For $50 bucks, it was a great value. ~Takikomi gohan (4/5: personal preference): This came with the sashimi combo. When it first came out, I wasn't sure what to expect. When I ate it with the nori, it had a very strong yuzu flavor. I like yuzu in savory dishes, and this was very tasty. Tart and savory. But I can see many people not liking it. ~Spicy yellowtail roll (3/5): basic ~Super Dragon Roll (4/5): Comes with basically a whole slab of eel on the top. It had a lot of different things inside, but didn't taste too muddled ~Tonkotsu ramen (2.9/5): Broth was okay, but it could use some umph. Noodles were nice. Chasu had good flavor but was a little tough. Overall, the food, vibes, and service were decent. Cute date night spot for affordable sushi.

We were looking for a good sushi restaurant in the Tysons area and came across Cafe Ile and decided to give it a try because of its good rating. I have to say that I'm really shocked by the raving reviews of this place. We got the calamari as appetizer, sashimi combo A, and one of the signature roll combos. The calamari...WHAT IS THAT? This was $16 for a total of maybe 6-7 pieces of calamari on the plate with majority being onions and peppers. We felt extremely ripped off for $16. The sashimi combo was okay, but the tuna tasted a little off/bad and was mushy in a bad way. For the roll combo, I don't understand why they'd put two extremely similar rolls in a combination together (they were both shrimp tempura rolls), and the rolls kept falling apart as soon as we picked them up. Not nicely wrapped at all and was hard to eat because everything was falling apart. I feel like they spent majority of the time just decorating the plates. The only thing that was saving me from giving this place a 1 star was that the server lady was very nice. Other than that, this place seems extremely overpriced for the quality they offer.

Cafe Ile has been on my radar for quite some time now but you have to be in the mood for sushi as it doesn't have a wide selection of the typical Japanese dishes (which isn't a bad thing) but everyone in your party should probably be feeling sushi (they do have Ramen and several apps). If you specialize in sushi it must be good right? Yes, the sushi is on point here. We ordered the Chef's Island which offers up sushi, sashimi, rolls, and grilled fish designed to serve 2-3. It's definitely enough food for 2. They give you an assortment of different cuts of fish in addition to the standard tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc. Good quality melt in your mouth sushi. The grilled fish is Ok..a bit on the dry side but the wife liked it. They also start off the meal with a small corn soup and seaweed/edamame salad which is gratis. One comment - the restaurant is on the small side and they had one server at dinner so be prepared to wait a bit longer as it definitely has a 'mom & pop' vibe with limited number of servers. Overall, very happy we tried Cafe Ile and we'll be back.

Delicious food! The tuna is delicious and the flavours are light but delicious. I loved the corn soup taster that they share, try adding a little soy sauce to it. The soy sauce itself was a little sweeter than usual and that added to the flavour profile since it wasn't just salty. We went for brunch. It's not that large of a place so it can get filled pretty quickly. Make a reservation if you can. Service was quick and helpful when asking questions, they had no issue documenting any allergies! The ambience is very chill and relaxed and the decor is beautiful. Would love to see it at night! But good spot to catch up with someone !

My new favorite sushi spot in NOVA! Such a cozy vibe too. We ordered Takoyaki, sushi combo C, and the 2 in 1 roll. All the food came out around the same time and didn't take too long for a busy night. Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance. The Takoyaki was a nice surprise with more octopus pieces inside than most restaurants. The sushi combo was incredible. I'm pretty picky with nigiri but all the pieces in this set were amazing quality, especially the toro and salmon belly. We had to get another order of just the toro. What's unique about the nigiri here is there's a light brush of sauce on top that's slightly sweet, almost like a very light sweetened soy sauce, nothing overwhelming but a nice touch. Very delicious. The 2 in 1 roll was half salmon and half tuna, best of both worlds! Total was $100 and I'd say that it was definitely worth it for the quality and amount of food.

Spicy Sashimi Salad is excellent appetizer that stir up your taste buds! We also had a Chef's Island as a main for four of us. The combination of Roll, Sushi & Sashimi. We couldn't finish the dish. Great service and romantic music.. Chanson, Cancion etc..

So unassuming you might actually miss it when driving, Cafe Ile is between United Bank and a parking structure. It's Not in the Mall guys. Place was relatively quiet and clean on a Monday lunch. We were greeted upon entering and service was quick and efficient. Everything we ate was done well with the All-Star being the shrimp tempura roll and the off-menu item being takikomi gohan (too sour and weird in flavor for me). The sashimi was buttery and tasty. They gave us complimentary corn soup and a seaweed/edamame salad. They didn't have steamed egg when we were there, which I would've loved to try. Def a repeat. Thank you!

Dined at Cafe Ile for dinner on a random Tuesday night. Great sushi, lots of menu options, friendly service, beautiful presentation, affordable (for good sushi), casual setting. The toro was fatty and thick cut, fresh melt in your mouth level. The salmon sashimi was buttery and delicious as well. We also had two great rolls, the three amigos and super dragon - BIG, filled with fish, and a great balance of flavors. I loved that the rolls and sashimi included a small side dish of veggies and pickles. Service was really attentive, checking in on us at the right times and really friendly.

Sushi is good but does it worthy for a 40-min wait? Absolutely not. Service was super slow on a Monday afternoon. From the time we sat down till the moment we got our food, it was 40 mins. That's crazy. No checking on us or any explanations were given. And, there were only 4 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. It's pretty quiet inside the restaurant but somehow I don't feel the choices of piano pieces match the dining experience. Unless the service gets changed, unfortunately I will not come back here.

The people that run this joint are some of the nicest folks you will ever meet. We mostly order takeout and the way they package the sushi is exactly the same way one gets at a nice place in Japan. We are very fortunate to have this lovely place in VA now.....by far the best in the area. read more

First of all I would like to say that food and interior of the restaurant is excellent.But it doesn't matter how tasty if the service is bad. We've been there several times and every time the hostess woman answered us very rudely and treated us with contempt. That's why we started taking out only. But even today when we ordered take out, she was rude and spoiled our mood. Seeing others' comments about this hostess, we realized that she was very incompetent. The sushi was delicious! Fish was fresh and every dish was prepared beautifully. We ordered the spicy sashimi salad, mango salmon, and a steamed egg dish for apps and then the double tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll with spicy salmon on top. The decor is lovely too. The downside, which may have been an isolated incident, is that we went on a Friday night, had a big table before us, and they were busy so service was slow. However, the servers were really nice and were trying their best. Will definitely go back read more

Hey, not bad! I guess I had somewhat low expectations, even though I knew this to be a higher end sushi joint. I was pleasantly surprised! Service was sufficient, I think the bad reviews in service could be somewhat due to language barriers. I ordered a salmon/yellowtail don and partner ordered a tuna combo. They really were generous in terms of quality of cuts, as my husband's tuna had upgraded toro and chutoro pieces. The gohan rice was unique, with all the different textures and some charred flavors, though it just felt a tad oily toward the end. The plating was absolutely beautiful. I noticed too we may have gotten some freebies of scallops, squid and sweet shrimp. Thank you, and YUM! My one complaint about our meals was this "finishing" house-made teriyaki sauce that was sauced on top. It was sweet, so it distracted from the taste of the fish, which I as a purist, want to taste. A true Japanese wouldn't do that. But I think I'll ask them to skip that next time and I'll be good to go! I think I'll delve into the appetizer menu next time too as they looked like they had some creative appetizers. Beautiful and wonderful hidden gem in Tyson's! read more

Food was good quality but the service is what completely turned me off. We were a party of 4 so when we made reservations at 5:00 it was only 2 of us and the remaining 2 joined us at 5:15. The waitress rushed us to order saying we needed to order fast because there's people using the table after us. Then when we asked the waitress about the menu and to explain the "combo options" there was essentially no explanation and she just short handed her answers. It's a nice place but small just reservations are definitely a must. read more

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the cozy atmosphere and EXCELLENT service. We've tried several omakase and course menu restaurants in Alexandria and DC. This place is the perfect place now since it's close by but more importantly, the quality of their ingredients and preparation were exquisite. Fresh wasabi and soy sauce are made by the chef. Each sashimi pieces melt in the mouth as if it were fresh from the ocean. We were introduced to Ellie Kim who prepares the dessert which we tried the pecan tarte - not too sweet, the crust is hard but very flaky. So far, the best pecan tarte I've had. The level of service from the servers to the chef from beginning of our meal to the end was extraordinary. We will be trying the omakase dinner soon. It is definitely a great find. read more

I came for lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised! The sushi here is fresh and cooked rolls are tasty. I brought my family back and we ordered Carpacio and Crispy Nori for appetizer. Both were delicious . The scallops from the Carpacio were very fresh. For entrees we ordered Sashimi Combo C. The assortment of fishes were very fresh. We also ordered a variety of cooked rolls; Crab Ile, Lasagna roll, Tysons shrimp tempura roll, Crisp salmon skin roll, and the special mango lime chili roll. All were very flavorful and delicious. Along with the sashimi and rolls, the platters were beautifully and artistically decorated with a touch which of fresh flowers. A few surprises one would not expect to have served with Sashimi and sushi rolls are the lychee poppers and small diced pieces of mangos. This helps clean one's palate so you can savor the food better. Overall, one of the best sushi restaurants in the area. Reasonably priced as well. read more

I implore you to come here. From playing classic big band music / jazz, to the quality of the fish, this place is 100% worth a visit. The seasoning on the nigiri is delightful, and the service great. After waiting for our appetizer over our bottle of sake they gave us not one but two free small plate appetizers due to a small wait that most other restaurants would not even acknowledge. Aside from the service, as a sushi lover, I can honestly say the only places I have had better are Michelin starred. Highly recommend. read more

Best sushi in the DMV hands down. Fish is always fresh and you can tell they take extra care and special attention for each individual ingredient, resulting in delicious rolls and dishes. Obvi their sushi and sashimi is amazing since the fish is so fresh. I think the way the sushi chef expertly cuts the fish is additive. Only reason I'm not gatekeeping is because I want to make sure they get a lot of customers and stay in business since they are kind of in a random location. Love it. read more

The best place for sushi/sashimi for dinner (and perhaps lunch as well) - try their sashimi wonderful accompanied by a mixed plate of sushi rice. Meet the Business Owner: Paul N.

Paul Nam has been working as a Sushi Chef for 22 years in the Philadelphia and Washington, DC areas. He focuses on providing a truly authentic Sushi taste with a unique style all his own along with his customized service to every guest. Chef Nam is always challenging himself to create new menus and in offering a uniquely stylish way of serving Sushi. He demonstrates theses different aspects through his roles in the kitchen, creating authentic and fusion style Asian food, not specifically centered around a sushi menu. He has a gift in handling Korean/Japa-nese cuisine due to his Asian roots! He is well qualified throughout many years of experience as the Chief Chef at ‘Rolls n Rice’ in Rockville, MD. and Cafe Momo in Alexandria, VA. He has proved himself in conducting sushi bar operations, in being interactive with chefs in the kitchen, as a hall manager and in communicating to the staff the customers’ orders and so fulfilling them speedily.

I made a reservation for 6:30 PM on Thursday for my birthday dinner, but even with the reservation, we weren't seated until 6:40 PM, which was fine. However, we had to wait nearly 30 minutes just to place our order because there was only one server for the entire dining area, which I found confusing. Additionally, we didn't receive any water until after 50 minutes.
