This is a lovely neighborhood cafe with great outdoor seating. I think the 3.5 star rating is accurate. For us they're somewhere between and 3 and 4. While the food is just kinda average (3 stars), the service is amazing (5 stars). We especially love Gabby and Erwin, they are always so welcoming. It is sad to write bad/poor reviews because I hate to tarnish a business's reputation but hopefully this will give the business an opportunity to learn/grow/make changes. I have been coming here for years and routinely bring out of town guests to Cafe Jolie. Today we experienced a poor visit. The server (Jubilee) took 15 minutes to arrive to our table to greet us. By that time we were ready to order. We placed our order (2 people) and never received our beverages (one came half way through our meal). I was able to get water from the buzzer about 15 minutes into our meal. Jubilee never came back to check on us as I would've liked to inform her that both of our dishes were served to us cold. Jubilee identified herself as the manager and made very little effort to fix our dining experience when she was made aware. Great little brunch spot in Alameda! Looks like it's run by family. It's a very cozy spot. I recommend going early if you don't want to wait that long for a table. Alameda is limited to a few breakfast spots so we try Cafe Jolie occasionally to see if it's improved. It Has Not! The omelette was more a frittata. The mushrooms had no seasoning and were clearly thrown into the egg mixture on the grill , therefore all the ingredients sank to the bottom. Probably covered with a lid to heat faster then folded. Omelettes are a cooking 101 task and this cook failed! Its also freezing in the restaurant. Coffee is good! read more

Went here a few times and had good experiences with each one The food's pricey but delicious! My favorite's the Eggs Benedict. The Monte Christo's great too. Both are filling dishes that come with potato and fruit. I think the potato's are cooked and seasoned perfectly. The beignets are good too! I feel they've gotten less fluffy lately but still great with the chocolate sauce :) Kids get a coloring page and a wax wikki stixs pack to play around with. Such a cute cafe! Very pricey. I got the stuffed French toast & avocado toast. The French toast was ok, could have been cooked a little longer but the avocado toast was fresh and delicious- the everything seasoning really set it up a notch. Our eggs were cook perfectly. I can't believe this was my first time here! I have yet to find a nice and decent brunch spot around here, or at least not to my liking, but I think my mind has been changed today. My friends and I came here for a little brunch before our movie. The hostess and waitress were both very nice and friendly. It seats about 30-40 people inside and about 10-15 people outside. It's cute and sort of reminds of Paris. We ordered: Grilled Cheese w/ fries- simple, but tasty! French Toast- also simple, but good. Better than most places that I've had. I like the fresh fruits on top. Kids size Pancake- again simple, but did the job! Omelet- spinach, mushroom, bacon, cheddar, and avocado. There was something very good about this, but I have no idea what it is! Everything we ordered was very plain and simple, but they were all quite delicious. Cute cafe sitting in the corner of busy Webster St in Alameda. Wait time was short considering it was Saturday. Lots of outdoor seating. Quick service and friendly staff. My partner got the crab cake Benedict. It was ok, I've had better. However, the omelettes are where it's at! If you love mushrooms like me, I highly recommend the mushroom, spinach and bacon omelette. Every bite was packed with flavor. The home style potatoes were perfect. Great place for a quick breakfast. BRUNCH IS BACK and it feels so good. Although Cafe Jolie was open with outdoor seating this past year, I just recently was able to come here for Sunday brunch. We still opted to sit outdoors because it was a beautiful sunny day. Lucky for us, our server was Jolie herself! She was so sweet and made the best recs. Really... all the food was fantastic, you can't go wrong. BRUNCH Monte Cristo + fries- SO GOOD. I never had one before, but saw some home cooks make it on the food channel and HAD to try it. Ooey gooey cheese, perfect toast on the brioche bread, and just the right amount of sweet blackberry jam to add on top. It was incredibly filling, so one portion was more than enough to share Beignets- light and fluffy, covered in powdered sugar. We got a full order for the table to share. Lavender latte (iced)- I love floral drinks. I didn't feel too much of the caffeine but the taste was delightful It was a nice day so we grabbed some donuts next door and hung out at the beach. When she was asked her attitude was rude and she came over and said what do you want. Spinach in the orders had huge stems left on them. What a cute cafe! It's french inspired with beautiful decor and yummy, although standard breakfast. The staff is attentive, and our server took great care of our experience throughout the meal. It's been awhile since I've been here, even before covid. Though I wanted to try it out to see if food has changed and to grab a bite at a different place than my usual restaurants. It took awhile for the staff to come help me, which confused me why people kept walking past me instead of taking my order. Though after my waiter came, things worked out. I'd say they should let people know that so and so will be helping you today, so when multiple waitresses/ waiters are walking by, you won't feel ignored. I got the Monte Cristo and the granola bowl. Presentation was great, and so was the food. I'd like a little more yogurt to go with the amount of granola, but still good either way. I came here today with my 2 daughters (age 1 and 4). I don't normally dine out with them by myself just because of how difficult it is, but thought they would enjoy a mommy daughter brunch. TLDR is that I've never had such horrendous service (or lack thereof) which made our brunch more stressful than it should've been. 1. Our server never came (not even once or after asking multiple people to send our server over) 2. We waited forever to order because no one came, and when I flagged someone down that server said she's not our server but can put our order in. 3. At this point I'm thinking fine, I'm sure our server is just busy and will eventually check on us. Nope, not once 4. I had to grab a booster seat myself for my 1 year old. 5. No one ever came by to ask us how our food is or if we needed anything, or refilled our water. 6. After a long and dragged our brunch (tables next to us came and left twice!) I had to flag down the hostess to get us our check and told her our server never came 7. After we got the check, no one came to grab my credit card. Again, I had to flag down a busboy to go run it I've never gotten such bad service (really NO service) at a restaurant like our experience today. My 1 and 4 year old were over the brunch long before and I left pretty livid. Despite telling our hostess that the server never came mid-way during the brunch, nothing was done to make up for it or send her over to finish out service for the rest of our brunch. read more

If I had a date with Benjamin cumberbatch, and it was for cafe Jolie, I would decline. It's been a long time since I've had really bad service. If the food was at least decent I would have rated it better but it was mediocre and over priced. If you know you're an ok cook, but you can cook better than what was served, why bother wasting your money. My mom just got eye surgery across the street and, I said let's try this cafe, she's 80 years old. There about 3 tables full and I ask if we can have the booth table, but the waiter says it's for 4 people so we can't sit there. He seats us next to a woman in a booth who is 1 person, our table is rickety and a 2 seater. Then he puts a reserved placard on the booth table, and of course we know nobody is showing up for it, and nobody sits there. I'm just going to tell you now if I could go back in time and leave I would have! It doesn't get any better, there was no love in this place, in the service or food! Don't go!!!!! read more

This review is not a complaint against the food for the restaurant. This review only has to do with the policy of not being able to use the gift certificate interchangeably with the Petit Cafe. So, my wife calls the one on Webster Street in Alameda and asks if they sold gift certificates. The response given was, "Yes we sell gift certificates, but we are closing at at 1pm. You can buy a gift certificate at our Harbor Bay location". My wife and I go to the location in Harbor Bay and wait patiently as the person making the orders was busy. My wife wanders towards the restrooms while I wait next to the order window. One of the employees approaches my wife and she asks if they sold gift certificates. The employee brings her back to the window where I am already waiting and asks the busy employee if they sold gift certificates. The busy employee gets her order out and turns to me to assist me. I then ask to purchase a gift certificate to which she replies, "Our gift certificates can only be used at our Harbor Bay location and NOT the Webster Street location". Bewildered by her response, I ask if the owners were different to which she responded with a "No, our computers are different and their computer will not recognize ours". Jiminy Christmas! Same owner and can't use same restaurants gift card?! YOU HAVE GOT TO CHANGE THIS! Okay, enough ranting. read more

Stumbled across Cafe Jolie on a Sunday Afternoon, I was greeted by this nice lady who put me on the wait list (20 minute wait) and she kindly let me know how long left until my party could be seated. The patio had only a few tables and it was a bit chilly outside that day. The coffee they serve there is quite good and the order came out pretty quick. The Madam Croquet was very good and came with plenty of potatoes. Hot sauce and , béchamel sauce. The food portions are good and I was barely able to finish. We take visiting out-of-towners, my mom for mothers day etc. Staff is friendly and efficient. We've tried a variety of dishes at this point and they are always delicious. If you want good food and ambiance this is the place to be but if you expect an attentive server (depending on who you are and what you look like), maybe this is not the place.
