Ordered lunch here after having surgery. Really was craving a good grilled chicken sandwich-although I know those aren't such an amazinG, decadent food, I was in the mood for protein and carbs on the lighter side since I had just come off anesthesia. The restauRant is located across from my aparrfment so it was easy for my husband to go pick up the food. What I got for 17 dollars was absurd. My order was a grilled chicken sandwich on toasted rye bread with lettuce, tomato (extra .50), and honey mustard on the side. The order came as a dry, enormous piece of chicken over two soggy, whole wheat(or maybe rye that did not taste like standardd rye) slices of bread. No honey mustard. Lettuce and tomato haphazardly throWn in container. The one positive is the amount of chicken they gave- unsliced, huge slab, was enough for 2 sandwiches so there was leftover. They left out the honey mustard but I was so tired I didn't care. The sandwich that I had to put together for 17 dollars was so dry. You'd think for that amount of money they could at least put the chicken on the bread and slice it. Also, whY would I get a tomato to have it just thrown in the container and not placed on sandwich for me? Sandwiches are to diners as garlic knots are to a pizza place! I'll give credit for the fries that didn't come with it, had to order side of for 8.95. Will look elsewhere for my diner sandwich next time. read more

As others have said, the service is great. They're friendly and attentive. The food is something that seems to vary from day to day. The quality control in the kitchen seems to be absent, but the results are usually acceptable. Their delivery orders always seem to be meticulously packed, it's too bad they don't have this consistency with their food. Cafe Luka is your average diner that normally only deserves three stars, but they deserve an extra star for their insanely fast delivery. If you're hungry and want hot food almost as quickly as you'd make in a microwave, then this is the place to call. read more

I ordered off seamless a Caesar wrap and fries. The fries were good, quick delivery, correct order and gave me a ton of extra dressing when I asked for it. However the chicken wrap was hot (I like my Caesar wraps cold) and it was over-dressed but somehow the chicken was dry. read more

It's clean and quiet. Service was okay. But it's standard diner fare at astronomical prices - even by NYC standards. And the reason I'll never go back is the policy of "No cash tip" that I only learned of when it was time to pay. I incurred a $3.25 ATM fee to leave a $3.00 tip. Absolutely love this place! Food is fresh, delicious, and the portion size is really great...always have leftovers! It's pretty pricey I think, but hey this is New York. Cafe Luka has excellent service, inexpensive, and is a great local diner to visit often. The menu is very diverse with lots of food, and the food is good (not enough to rave about, but good) and what really brings you back is the service. Great place to come with family for a nice meal at breakfast, lunch, or dinner! One of my favorite things about Cafe Luca is their ability to deal with food allergies, just tell your waiter and they will make sure your meal is cooked without any nuts in it or nearby it. I used to love this place. Been going here every morning since I was laid off in March of this year. What I like is that they know your order. But there is this very rude busboy (more like middle aged man) who grabs your plate even when you are still chewing. I don't care if the only thing on my plate is lettuce why are you grabbing it. So now when I come in he won't give me water or coffee I have to wait for the waiter to give it to me and they are busy but he is standing there doing nothing. Really annoys me. I went to this café yesterday and had a very pleasant experience. I believe that it is run by two Brothers and the food is delicious, comes quickly, and has a very happy environment. I saw that many couples brought their children in strollers and they were accommodating them very well. They cater both to people that are in a rush And need to have a quick bite and also for people that like to stay,they will not rush them out. I recommend this place very highly. read more

I mean, it didn't make me sick or anything, but I paid $16 (+ tax and tip) for a mediocre bagel with a big slab of cream cheese plopped on top and some smoked salmon. They didn't even spread the cream cheese - they just put a big cold slab on top of a slightly burnt yet not very warm bagel, that was basically just bread with a hole in it (in NY! come on, you can at least give me a decent bagel). Good spot for anything you want anytime, and fast delivery. The chocolate chip pancakes are literally cake batter with chocolate, super healthy breakfast with syrup. Never going to come back here again. The lady in the front was nice and welcoming and the interior is clean and simple. However, the food was horrible and the waiter is rude. I ordered an iced coffee and egg Benedict. The coffee was ridiculously watered down. It was bland and tasted like water... The egg Benedict was cooked well but the hollandaise sauce was bland and thick. The color on the sauce was grossly yellow and it looked like it was stored for weeks. I can understand that the majority of customers are elders and they may have high blood pressure, but its a friggin diner. Diners are greasy and flavorful. Maybe the rest of the menu might taste better but if a diner cannot get an egg benedict right, then goodbye and never again. read more

It has everything you could want on the menu in a classic American menu, the place is clean and open, and the drinks are nice and strong if you chose to brunch with them.
