Penne Vodka
Shannon O.

The food was absolutely amazing. Best penne vodka I've ever had. The oysters were fantastic and the biggest oysters I've ever seen. The service was friendly and quick. The ambiance was stunning with the low light and atmosphere. Good spot for a girls night or birthday dinner.

We have been going to Cafe Napoli for well over 10 years and have celebrated every anniversary here (with the exception of the year of Covid). We went back again just a few days ago and as usual, blown away. Everything from the ambiance, to the food, to the valet service and all the things in between, they do with perfection. The staff is incredibly attentive and their food is truly top notch. 10/10. No notes.

Overall, I had a great experience at Cafe Napoli. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively, and the service was friendly and attentive. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the bathrooms weren't as clean as I would have expected. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable dining experience, and I would definitely come back.

Decided to give Cafe Napoli a try in a Saturday. I made a reservation beforehand and we were seated immediately upon arrival. We were seated in a small corner half-circle booth. It is very dark inside so it was a little difficult to read the menu. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. He gave us a rundown of all the specials that night and was able to answer all our questions. We started with a Limoncello Spritz, Pitiful Pilsner, the 3 cheese arancini, and a shrimp cocktail. The arancini was delicious and the shrimp were huge! For mains I ordered the Farfalle Genovese and my partner ordered the 8oz filet. The pasta portion was huge and I had my leftovers for dinner again the following night. To finish we ordered tiramisu, the bread pudding and a cappuccino. The bread pudding was super rich and chocolatey. The tiramisu was light and delicious. There were plenty of options for me as a vegetarian. We had a great experience. It is a little pricey but the food and the vibe are right!

We dined in the bar building- comfy side room accommodated 16 of us after business meetings. We had a limited menu but it was perfect. My co-worker is GF- they easily accommodated her with GF pasta (she said it was excellent) and crème brule for dessert. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was a large serving. Cheesecake was delicious. Lemoncello spritz was a tasty cocktail. Servers were efficient and the food service was well-timed. They did a great job with our group.

While visiting St Louis, and on the recommendation of my UBER driver... I gave Cafe Napoli a try for dinner. Beautiful, upscale, Italian restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating. I was alone and sat at the bar for dinner. If not I may have needed a reservation. The menu looked great, a bit pricy but super value for the money. I got the Lobster Caprese starter which was delicious. The ravioli that followed was equally yummy. I'll stop in again to try more of the menu. The experience exceeded the hype!

Took the family to dinner for our son-in-laws birthday and had a great time! The food....WOW! So good! We started with arancini for the table, followed by salads; Caesar, wedge, eggplant, then the main course; lamb chops, truffle ravioli, ribeye (one Oscar and one plain) and a pasta with meat sauce and it was all outstanding!! Birthday dessert turned into more dessert for the table including some incredibly yummy vanilla ice cream. We had a great server who took very good care of us. Looking forward to a return visit!!

Water was just wet enough. Allyssa makes the bestest espresso martini. The glass wasn't even broken. Allyssa was the best server ever and I think she should get a raise. We just love her so much. Go back to the old chips.

Cafe Napoli's patio was perfect for a nice fall dinner. The service is above & beyond, and the food is always good. Tried: we split everything - an espresso martini, calamari fritti, arancini, and pomodoro bolognese. Loved: the service, the arancini, the espresso martini Recommend: splitting everything - we had two apps and an entree to split and we still took most of our pasta home

Han is the BEST bartender in town! The food is also amazing. The steak is great but just be sure to ask for light salt. It can sometimes come out a little too salty. Try and get a table on the patio in the spring/summer for some great vibes and cool views.

I stopped there for cream brûlée but it was the worst iv ever tried .. but nice service and vibe..

The patio is open at Cafe Napoli in Clayton! Our favorite patio in st louis. It's as though you're at Tavern on Rush or The Bellevue in Chicago. A lot of energy and people watching The service & food are always first class. The staff is so professional and friendly. Last Tuesday we had appetizers. Their meatballs are delicious! Large serving of 3 meatballs in an Italian red sauce. My husband's favorite. I love the Stack salad, layers of tomato, mozzarella and eggplant. Accompanied by Italian bread and butter. The pastas are phenomenal as well. Honestly our favorite restaurant in St Louis.

Roadtripping thru the US and found ourselves here for a late dinner. Pricey but worth it. Dinner for two costed us around $200 (with tip) for 2 drinks, 1 shared app, and 2 entrees. Wasn't expecting much but amazing drinks and entrees were good. I ate everything and was happy. I ordered the seabass and my partner ordered pasta. Would recommend this place for anyone in need of great Italian. It was cozy and dark inside but perfect for the intimate dinner. Johnathan was very friendly and personable. Ask for him on your visit!

I was taught by brother that you should book your first dinner reservation as after flying all day, one is tired, and not able to make good decisions...hence eating at a TGI Fridays in New Orleans on our first night. I have heard about that since. Charlie's had the perfect vibe going as it has a great reputation. Wendy was also simply amazing and shared may stories of St Louis and was just a tremendous server. The only thing that tricked us was the Toasted Ravioli. It has meat in it, and my wife is vegetarian. The Arancini was terrific and the table bread was also quite tasty. My wife had the Manicotti and I had the Chicken Lemonata. So great. The bottle of the house Gitto's Red was the perfect wine as well. A great experience at a restaurant that is a legend in St. Louis and I am glad it was our first meal in the city.

Although claiming to have invented the toasted ravs, really did not enjoy them. Caprese salad was good for this time of year- early June. My go to meal to rate Italian restaurants is chicken Marsala, and was unfortunately the worst. Chicken was overcooked, rather tasteless and hard to cut. Very little sauce, but good mushrooms. Side of red pasta helped but was too sweet.

The Best Dining Experience We've Had in St. Louis - Hands Down…read moreMy husband and I wanted to give our dear friends who are leaving St. Louis one last unforgettable meal from their bucket list, so I immediately recommended Peno. I used to be a regular at Rosé with the same talented Chef Pepe, and his food is truly to die for. We walked in on a beautiful day and were lucky to snag a spot in their small parking lot (parking in the area isn't the easiest, but it's worth it). Our server, Harry, made the evening even better right from the start. He had such a warm, calm, professional presence--the kind that's rare these days. We instantly remembered his name thanks to a fun Harry Potter / Harry and the Hendersons reference, and he handled everything with effortless skill. When our friends had parking trouble, Harry quickly offered helpful suggestions. Then, when it was time to order, he elevated our meal in the best way possible. My husband and I got our longtime favorite--the Roberto pizza from Rosé days--and Harry suggested adding sausage and peppers. That small tweak took something we already loved and made it 1000% better. Absolute perfection. Our friend ordered the spaghetti (her all-time favorite comfort meal), and after taking Harry's thoughtful recommendation, she declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. We finished with the cheesecake. I'm extremely picky about cheesecake, but this one did not disappoint--it was creamy, rich, and flawless. This was one of those legendary meals you remember forever. The kind where you leave thinking you could die happy. Chef Pepe's food, paired with Harry's outstanding service, made it a perfect night. If you're in St. Louis, do yourself a favor and go to Peno. You won't regret it. Thank you, Harry and team--you helped create a truly special send-off for our friends!

Parking is easy within a block or two. Outdoor, booth, and table seating is available. My husband had the gluten free pasta because it is also vegan, and no lie and true to form, it was delightful and light! The tomato sauce is Perfection: not too acidic, not too sweet, letting the grand yet humble tomato shine. I chose the puttanesca, one of my favorite traditional Italian pastas. I would order this again!! Had plenty for lunch the next day. Not to be left out: the toasted ravs and cannoli. I've had a few T-ravs since moving to StL, and these are excellent. The tomato sauce for dipping, once again, is a real treat. The cannolis? Precious, flaky, and dreamy. I ate one at our table and took the second bad boy home. FIRE.

While traveling through Missouri, my wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner. I searched…read moreYelp and came across Anthonino's. I also remembered seeing it featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so we figured it had to be worth a try. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but noticed a few open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there instead. The two bartenders welcomed us right away and told us they would take good care of us throughout the evening. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I started with an Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we ordered the Toasted Ravioli ($14), which is handmade in-house and filled with ground beef, ricotta, and pecorino romano cheese, served with marinara sauce. It's one of the dishes featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. For dinner, my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala ($23), and I went with the Bolognese ($17), made with veal, pork, red wine gravy, cresta di gallo pasta, stracciatella, and Calabrian chili oil. The toasted ravioli arrived looking great. I tried one without the sauce first. The fresh pasta didn't fry up quite the way I expected. It was more flaky than crispy, and I was hoping for a little more crunch. The filling was decent but could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The marinara sauce also had a bitterness to it that wasn't my favorite. When our entrées arrived, both dishes looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite live up to the presentation. My wife's Chicken Marsala had good flavor overall, but the side pasta was very gummy, and the sauce again had a bitter note that seemed to overpower the dish. My Bolognese was the biggest disappointment of the evening. When I think of Bolognese or a rich meat ragù, I usually expect a wider pasta such as pappardelle. The cresta di gallo pasta wasn't my favorite choice for the dish, and it also had a gummy texture. The sauce itself suffered from the same bitterness that we noticed throughout the meal. Looking back, I probably should have ordered the Carbonara once I realized the Bolognese wasn't being served with the type of pasta I was hoping for. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't quite meet the expectations we had after seeing the restaurant featured on television and reading the reviews. The service was excellent, and the bartenders did a fantastic job taking care of us. While this visit was a bit disappointing, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked great, and I would be willing to give Anthonino's another try and order something different.
