This is a nice, casual waterfront coffee shop with a great atmosphere. It's located on the corner of the World Trade Center, so you don't get a direct water view, but the setting is still pleasant. The menu offers range from simple American breakfast to Asian fusion dishes. We had Vietnamese sandwiche(ban-mi) & egg/sausage gochewjang sandwich it was good. Service is good nothing standout, but perfectly adequate. If you're driving, be aware that parking can be difficult. I even saw a car being towed. Oh dang... Cafe Opla is a great, little cafe right inside the World Trade Center Building in Seattle. I came in for coffee but was pleasantly surprised with their menu. Opla is a Vietnamese word derived from the French term for fried egg, "Oeufs au Plats". It's a walk up and order style of cafe. Plenty of seats for their size but I sure they fill up pretty quick. We popped in early and didn't have an issue. We went with the Opla Philippines - pork sausage, tocino, onion & cucumber vinaigrette, tomatoes, fried garlic, cilantro, served in a skillet; and the Avocado Sandwich - french bread, avocado spread, scrambled eggs, and tomatoes. We came for Sunday brunch and there were luckily still some tables left. The ambiance is like your typical cafe and suited more for 2-4 people rather than a large group. You seat yourself and order at the counter. I couldn't really tell if it was self-bus or not since there were no signs but there was a cart with bins. Vietnamese Opla 4/5 It's a decent portion and good variety of food for the price. The meatballs were tender and the tomatoes were flavorful. The potatoes were cooked well and there was a heap of pate for the dish. I'm knocking off some points since the meats and carrots were a bit bland. I was expected pickled carrots since they're common in Vietnamese cuisines. Cafe Opla was a pleasant surprise for me! For a restaurant by the pier, I thought it might be overhyped, but the food and drinks were really good! I love the twist on a classic Vietnamese dish and how they offer different types of oplas inspired by different countries. We also got their Vietnamese inspired drink flight and it was a true hit. Every drink was so unique and not like any other Vietnamese inspired drink I've had before. They were all good and I'd definitely get it again. The restaurant was surprisingly smaller than I expected, as it's located as a cafe within the entrance of the building, but they do have some outdoor seating. Since it's also a location right on the pier, it gets pretty busy with a line almost out the door, but the line moves pretty quickly and they do their best to serve the food as quick as possible. Tables are first come first serve, so be on the lookout once you arrive! The prices are a tad on the pricier side, but I expected that given it's in a touristy area. If you're looking for a nice meal while exploring the pier, would definitely recommend giving cafe opla a try! read more

We were guests next door at the Seattle Waterfront and walked over as a party of 4 for breakfast before our cruise. As a group of first responders out on vacation, we expected basic hospitality, but instead received an incredibly cold greeting from the staff. We were then told we weren't allowed to sit at an available table for 4. I'm not sure why a group of 4 isn't permitted to use a 4-top table, but the rigid attitude and lack of respect completely soured the start of our trip. We won't be back. read more

The entire time I was in the restaurant I had to remind myself we were by the waterfront which is why everything was so expensive... but for the very high prices I was expecting something a little more than what I received. The flavors in the opla are good. My group got the Philippines and Vietnam opla to share. I think you can't really go wrong with longanisa and tocino with fried eggs and a baguette. The meatball, pate, and lemongrass pork in the Vietnam were flavored really well. Wish both had more sauce to dip with and a bigger baguette. The baguette that came with the opla was so small we had to order more. The $25 price tag was very steep to me, considering the dish itself. I have had a lot better skillet dishes in other places that were cheaper. We also got the pho fries to share. It was $17 and the portion was tiny. The only thing that made it "pho" was the meatballs and the hoisin sauce they put on top. There was something about it overall that I did not really enjoy, but my boyfriend thought it was fine. I like that they had different kinds of opla but being so expensive, I don't think it's worth. Maybe if you're in the area but there's better Vietnamese food in Seattle. read more

We flew into Seattle today. When our hotel room wasn't ready we walked across the street, actually across the parking lot, to Cafe Opla for lunch. I knew immediately that I wanted a Bahn Mi sandwich. 0rder at the counter & they then bring the food to your table. The sandwich was so good! The bread was toasted perfectly. We Doordashed breakfast from this place. I almost want to give them more stars out of pity, but anyone considering spending their hard-earned money here should think twice. Things that were almost inedibly sweet and we didn't finish: waffles, mocha, and weirdly the breakfast sandwich. Breakfast sandwich was also too salty. I live about an hour from downtown Seattle and was meeting friends at a different popular well known Asian breakfast spot. We thought 10am would be early enough at the original spot, show up to about 20 people ahead of us and after 20 minutes of waiting (and hungry at this point) with no movement we settled on trying Cafe Opla (we wanted to go somewhere with unique brunch dishes, not your average, pancake, bacon, eggs place). We got there around 11am on a Sunday with only 2 other parties in the restaurant. This restaurant is casual, walk up counter to order and then food is brought to table. The menu is quite extensive, with their signature dish was the Oplas "Modern twist on Vietnamese breakfast" which is breakfast in a skillet. I was sharing /splitting with my friend and settled on the Hawaiian Opla and Gochujang Honey Breakfast Sandwich. The Hawaii Opla (spam, pulled pork, cucumbers, mac salad and rice) was delish, although it looked bigger in pictures. The skillet is probably 7 inches in diameter. The Gochujang sandwich was alright, it was honey forward and I couldn't really taste the Gochujang sauce. I also ordered the Iced Ube Vietnamese coffee, but other friend got this warmed and it looked a lot prettier with the design on top. I did find it a little pricey, but hey eating out is expensive these days. If you're in area looking for someplace quick, easy, yummy, unique dishes then I would recommend Cafe Opla. read more

This is a small cafe off of the lobby of the World Trade Center, with several bistro tables, a few bar seats, some patio tables, and that's it! Not really cozy, seems like a place where people grab a cup of coffee before heading on their cruise ship. Yes, this place is directly across the street from the cruise ship terminal and next to a Marriott hotel. Service was super friendly and relatively quick. You order at the counter and they will give you a number to put on your table (if you can snag one). I got the skillet which came out HOT. The Filipino Opla had all the right ingredients to make it a real filipino breakfast. The garlic rice was exceptionally good but I didn't realize there was a $2 upcharge for it. I also got the Vietnamese drink flight which was expensive! I should have asked before ordering it because the price was not listed on the menu. It was $28.50 for five 4-oz NON-alcoholic drinks. I admit all were good except the fish sauce latte was a little odd. At that price they should have been true cocktails instead of mock! Creme brulee latte was for my friend, and this was amazing. Super tasty, great crunch on the crust, and just the right sweetness. 4/5 stars because of cost. I spent almost $60 for breakfast here for just myself, excluding the creme brulee latte ($8) and tip. read more

Nếp Dupe! If you never heard of Nếp, it's a Vietnamese restaurant in OC where they specialize in opla which is a Vietnamese skillet dish with some type of meat, vegetables and bread on the side to eat. And usually there's an egg in the middle with a bit of soy sauce. Cafe Opla is a lot better than Nếp since they offer a variety of different types of skillet dishes from different cultures. I was able to get the Vietnamese and Filipino dish. Which was both good and not too pricey for the amount you get. The Vietnamese one was definitely my favorite, but I just hope they added more of the pate (duck liver) since it is a speciality in the Vietnamese skillet. Overall, the service and location is good. I think they should get more recognition if they were so hidden in the hotel lobby. But I like how low-key it is, because I first discover it by driving by where it's located.
